Why did you people contact him sef? You could have claimed he was missing. Instead you people use your hand to find trouble. On top someone living his life but interfering in the lives of people he shamelessly abandoned. Just go to the embassy and apply for the visa. If it comes up tell them the father has long abandoned the child. The father does not support the child in any way, only the mother does. It is also becoming detrimental to the mental health and well being of the child to be separated from the mother.

Tell the embassy to request proof of financial and emotional support from the father who is denying her passage to prove if you are telling the truth or not. When there is proof that he is a useless father who refused legal and other means to support his child, they will grant the visa. Go and apply and claim abandonment by the father till they ask you questions.

It was not intentional since the embassy asked us to try other means of making contact with him that is why I sent an email and I think it is better I tried it the embassy way so that he will not file a case later for child abduction. His reply to my email this morning was that he has written the embassy to deny the the visa application....i don't know why he has to do that but I have not heard from the embassy and they are not requesting for any supporting documents yet.

Some men sha,
Upkeep for the child you don't pay
Let the child go and meet the mum abroad you won't allow.

Can you contact his family members, parents to talk to him or something.
The child has been taken care of by you and your parents, he never paid upkeep for the child so why is he preventing you from taking him outside the country?

Is he married now? Did he not accept the pregnancy initially?

If you can get someone to talk to him it will be good.
The Mum and his Uncle really tried but later told me there is little they can do about it. I don't know if he is married now yes he accepted the pregnancy when I even put his name on her birth certificate.
People that try to him he will stop talking to them

To some extent yes... the courts would not ordinarily grant you custody when you're not here. More so, when you need to testify in court , who would do that for you ? If the child is of an age where the court can speak to him or her, he or she would also need to be present. Contract a lawyer and give them all the details. You'll be glad you did. smiley

That's as free as my pro bono services go....

Peace out grin

Thank you! I will do that.

BlackDBagba:
Go to a lawyer and ask him( no females at the bar only gentlemen in skirt grin) to file an application for maintaining existing custody of the child in question.

Make an affidavit of facts to that effect and submit at the Court stating the facts you just stated and then submit at the Embassy.

Go to any High court in Nigeria, Family Section and make more enquiries.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I am currently not in the country now but can the process be done in my absence at court?

Hello Nairalander! Please who has gone through the issue of applying for visa for her child and the embassy is asking for the father's passport....

1) Never been married to the child father
2) the child has the father's name on the birth certificate
3) Been trying to get across to the father and not available
4) Just got to know that he has travelled out of the country
5) Child is in my care (with my parents)
My Question is this?
How do I apply for child custody in Nigeria?

Family / Re: I Am Getting Tired Of My Long Distance Marriage. by oduamine: 5:09am On Jul 31, 2015
In Europe family reunion is taken serious, firstly your spouse income must be enough to feed you and your kids. My opinion wait for him to get the citizenship then you can move with him but all still come down to your hubby requirement. Another thing is if he has enough money you can join him with the 11 months baby then appeal for the older kid when you get to Europe

I never locked my phone with a password until I started noticing my hubby going through my phone at night and chatting with my friends when I am asleep I challenged him and he said I was hiding things then I decided to use a code and trouble started, I gave him the code but he still sneak behind me to go through my phone, I never gave him the new password again.....the base of every relationship is TRUST if you don't trust your spouse there will be trouble....
N.B I went through his phone for the first time after many months and saw a history chat on his BB asking a girl for the size of her bra!!!

Yes....the benefits of an oil dependent society....a valueless currency!

Modified at 10.48 am

I keep on saying this...Nigeria has to forget about oil...and go into manufacturing. We may not see the beenfits now...but we will see it in the future. If we had continued on the path of manufacturing....we could have had a higher GDP...and more revenues...and a stronger currency.

But the problem with Nigerians is that they prefer stomach infrastructure things. So, govt has to find quick money to share...and yes...oil money is the answer.

But it has been used to hide the fact that we are a poor country. We do not have enough resources. And countries that do not have lots of resources do either of two things...invest in industrial and technical development(like China, Korea, Finland, Germany, etc)...or forever remain aid dependent.

It may sound like I am building castles in the sky when I say Nigeria can become industrialsed....but the fact is we have high unemployment...and we have a growing population....and the resources are few. Industrial development will provide jobs for many....and resources for welfare projects.
Yes we need to focus on manufacturing...but stable power supply is what is killing most industries. If power is stablised unemployment rate will reduce drastically
