US President Donald Trump has sacked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, replacing him with the director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo. Thanking Mr Tillerson for his service on Twitter, Mr Trump said the new state secretary would do "a fantastic job". Mr Tillerson, a former chief executive of ExxonMobil, was only appointed to the job just over a year ago. The president also nominated Gina Haspel to become the first woman director of the CIA. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-43388723?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_breaking&ns_source=twitter&ns_linkname=news_central

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered state governors to ensure that people of their states do not “block cattle routes”. Speaking during a programme on Ekiti State Television, EKTV, Fayose claimed that Buhari gave the directive during a meeting “last week.” The governor also berated the president over his handling of the crisis between herdsmen and farmers. Fayose, while quoting the president, said: “People are building houses to block cattle routes. “If I were to be president of Nigeria, I will not act the way President Buhari is behaving (regarding the crisis). “The president must be courageous enough to end these mindless killings. He is the president and has what it takes. If I am the president, I will take appropriate steps and stand it down. A criminal is a criminal, whether Hausa man or Yoruba man. If you commit crime, you go in for it. “I remember when we were in a meeting last week; the president was saying that people are blocking cattle routes. Have you heard that before? How can the president say people are blocking cattle routes? There is no cattle route in Ekiti in the 21st century. “The president of Nigeria was saying governors should go and make sure they don’t block cattle routes. He said people are building houses to block cattle routes. I was laughing; I didn’t know what to say in council. I just left.” http://report.ng/buhari-more-concerned-about-cattle-routes-than-justice-fayose/

Nigerian troops suffered a massive setback in the war against terrorism as Boko Haram terrorists sprung a surprise attack on Rann killing at least a dozen people and injuring several others. A security source told Saharareporters that the terror group stormed military base of the 3rd Battalion in Rann headquarters of Kala-Balge on Thursday at about 6 pm and engaged in a gun duel that lasted for 5 hours. The terror group also abducted three aid workers (2 from ICRC clinic team and 1 from UNICEF) in addition to killing a UNICEF doctor, and two workers from the International Organization for Migration On the military side, the terror group abducted at least three soldiers, killed three Mobile Policemen attached to an internally displaced person camp and made away with a military truck and an Armored personnel carrier belonging to the Nigerian army. Rann is a small town in Borno State, Northeastern Nigeria, and a home to a camp for internally displaced people. In January 2017, a Nigerian military jet mistakenly bombed a refugee camp, killing more than 100 people. Many civilians including personnel of International Committee of the Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) were wounded in the attack. http://saharareporters.com/2018/03/02/unicef-doctor-4-nigerian-soldiers-3-aid-workers-killed-and-3-aid-workers-abducted-boko Cc: lalasticlala Mynd44 |
A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, has exposed alleged cabals and ills in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The Northern elder statesman has also accused Buhari of being lopsided in appointments thereby placing his family members, Mamman Daura’s relatives in ministerial positions and other appointments. According to him, Mamman Daura is the president of cabals in Buhari’s administration Mohammed in an interview with Guardian said, “It is so unfortunate that Buhari and the cabals have found themselves in the same shoes as their predecessors and it will end in tragedy. “I say so because those urging them to remain perpetually in power are not doing so because they like them. And even though Buhari has surrounded himself in a very nepotic way by ensuring that all the major appointments were given to his in-laws, nephews and cousins, but I can assure you that when the chips are down, he would be left to cry all by himself. “When I started talking about the cabal over two years ago, many Nigerians, some of them with the best but naive intentions, thought there was no such thing as cabals. But there is a cabal. Because Buhari has been out of government for many years, he has not been able to update his knowledge in terms of development and events in and outside the country. And because of this and in my own estimation, we now have the least competent, the most isolated, most divisive and arrogant leader in the history of Nigeria. And in a country that is so complex and not so cohesive, this is clearly a disaster, which is where we are heading. “Right now, nobody doubts that there is a cabal. The de facto president of the country from May 29, 2015 has been one joker called Mamman Daura, who was a one-time Managing Director of the defunct New Nigerian newspapers. He is the head of the cabal and the de-facto president, because there have been instances when the president would give an instruction, he would undermine the instruction and nothing would happen. There have been times policy decisions or appointments would be made and his lackeys – Abba Kyari, the president’s chief of staff, the former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal, who was appointed against all odds, but who remained there because he was in the cabal’s good books, will tamper with it. We all knew how he diverted donor monies belonging to international donor agencies, until they told Buhari in no uncertain terms that he had to be punished. But the others like Mamman Daura and Abba Kyari are sitting tight and taking decisions for you and me, as well as all Nigerians. “None of them was elected and though Kyari has a letter of appointment as chief of staff, Mamman Daura does not have a single letter indicating that he is whatever he is, but how he came about exercising such enormous powers is what nobody knows. “There are ministers who have been appointed not because they have any qualifications but because they are related to Buhari. The Aviation minister, Hadi Seriki is his elder sister’s son. Amina Zakari, who works in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representing the seven states of the northwest zone was appointed even before Buhari came into power through mago mago. It is left to the former president Goodluck Jonathan to tell us how she became national commissioner in INEC. Then there is the minister of Interior, Gen Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd.) who was born and bred in Zaria. Somehow, and in a typical arrogant and abuse of power, he was turned into a Kano man and given a ministerial appointment, which constitutionally should have been given to a person who grew up in Kano State. Yet, Kano is the only political base Buhari has. “There are several others. The State House chief of protocol is a son-in-law to Mamman Daura, who is President Buhari’s nephew. Ordinarily, the position should have been given to a senior ambassador. The president’s chief personal security officer is Mamman Daura’s younger brother. Another State personal security officer is another relation of theirs. The ADC to the president is a son-in-law to them. Do you know that the S.A to Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the S.A to the junior minister of petroleum resources are Mamman Daura and Buhari’s daughters respectively? “This is an update of what I started saying two years ago. They now have their sons, daughters, sons-in-laws and nephews as beneficiaries of the appointments made so far. Now, among the people in the cabal, but very powerful and not known is someone called Tunde, originally called Sabiu Yusuf. He is the son of Mamman Daura’s immediate younger sister. He is, today, P.A to the President, even though he has never worked for one day in his life. But a P.A job is normally the work of a full-blown director or a permanent secretary. That boy only got married last year and as I speak to you now, he is one of the billionaires in Nigeria today. Nobody of his age has the kind of money that boy has. So, can that be justified? “If they are going to treat this country as if it was conquered by them and or by their families, you can imagine what the picture would look like, if Buhari were to be given a second term and how they are going to use our resources and how they are going to abuse power. “Mamman Daura’s daughter, who is married to one of the Dantatas, is the S.A to the CBN governor. Then Buhari’s sister’s son is also an S.A to Kachikwu, the junior minister of petroleum resources. The chief personal security officer to the president, DCP Abdulkarim Dauda is Mamman Daura’s younger brother. The chief security officer (CSO) Col Bashir Abubakar is also married into the family. The State chief of protocol, Lawal Kazaure, who has not reached the rank of an ambassador, is also married to Mamman Daura’s eldest daughter. I mentioned earlier that the P.A to the President, Sabiu Yusuf Tunde, who is in his 20’s, is one of the wealthiest 20-year-olds in Nigeria. He is also the son of Mamman Daura’s immediate younger sister. She herself is a niece to Buhari. And that is how the country is being governed. “The national commissioner at INEC is Buhari’s niece. In addition, her husband, who used to be a manager in UBA, died. Now when an opportunity arose, they went and picked the late husband’s younger brother and made him Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). He is Brig Gen Zakari from Kazaure in Jigawa State. Mohammed further speaking on clamour for Buhari’s re-election in 2019 said he was not surprised. “Personally, I am not surprised that there is clamour for President Muhammadu Buhari to continue and contest in the 2019 poll. Anyone involved in this country’s politics knows that there is absolutely nothing new there. “Every president we’ve had in this country, every heads of government, as well as heads of state have been told they were special persons, that nobody else can govern the country, and as such they should continue, as such without them, the country couldn’t move on. I am not surprised it is happening to Buhari and I am not surprised he is putting his personal ambition over and above the country’s interest. http://report.ng/buhari-is-the-most-divisive-and-arrogant-leader-in-the-history-of-nigeria-junaid-mohammed/ Cc: lalasticlala mynd44

SaharaReporters investigation has revealed that the Dana Air aircraft, which skidded off the runway earlier in the week was 27 years and 3 months as at the time of its crash. The aircraft, an MD83 with the registration number 5N-SRI was manufactured in November 1990 and was among the oldest aircraft in the fleet of the airline. The investigation indicated that the aircraft was previously used by Alaska Airlines in the United States under the registration number N947AS and was delivered to the airline on December 7, 1990. However, the investigation further revealed that after 18 years of usage of the aircraft by Alaska Airlines, Dana Air acquired the aircraft from the American carrier on a permanent basis on August 4, 2008, when it commenced flight operations as an airline operator in Nigeria. The aircraft would have clocked 10 years with Dana Air on August 4, 2008, if it had not crashlanded on Tuesday. The youngest aircraft in the fleet of Dana Air is a 21 and half years aircraft, MD83 with the registration number: 5N-BKI, which was equally acquired from Afrijet, another Nigerian airline on October 5, 2014, with the same registration number. History of the aircraft indicated that it was first delivered to U-Land Airline on September 25, 1996, by the manufacturer. The aircraft was however leased to Astro Air International in October 1997 under the registration number: B-88899. After about nine months of usage, Astro Air International leased the aircraft to Air Philippines in July 1998, before Afrijet acquired it in January 2008. Another old aircraft in the fleet of the airline is another MD 83 with the registration number: 5N-DEV. The aircraft is 26 and half years old. Before Dana Air acquired the airplane on May 11, 2012, it was previously used by four airlines. The first owner of the aircraft was Guinness Peat Aviation (GPA) and it was delivered to it on September 19, 1991, with the registration number EI-CCE. The airline leased the aircraft to Avianca on March 11, 1992, with the same registration number, but the airline on March 16, 2010, changed the registration number to HK-4587, after eight years of usage and total acquisition from the former owner. However, the aircraft was sold to Jet Midwest Group of the United States on July 6, 2011, under the registration number N934JM until Dana Air acquired it from the American airline on May 11, 2012, and changed the registration number to 5N-DEV. Dana Air is now left with just two aircraft in its fleet from the former six at its peak period as one of its aircraft crashed in a Lagos suburb in 2012 killing all passengers on board. http://saharareporters.com/2018/02/23/dana-air-aircraft-crashlanded-port-harcourt-273yrs-old

The Lagos State government has warned residents to stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in unauthorized places, saying that perpetrators risk facing the full wrath of the law, including engaging communal service as a form of deterrence. This warning was issued by the Commissioner for the Environment, Babatunde Durosinmi –Etti during a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Center in Alausa on Tuesday to parade four cart pushers caught dumping illegally in Agege. Durosinmi Etti said that Abubarka Lawal, Bashir Umar, Yusuf Saheed and Muhammodu Amisu Abdulahi were apprehended at the Moshashi Alhaja Area of Agege with the collaboration of market leaders who worked with the Enforcement Department of the Ministry to ensure the culprit was caught. “Worried by the incessant resurfacing of refuse at black spots in their market, the market leaders decided to maintain vigilance which led to the apprehension of four people after midnight on Tuesday,” he said. The commissioner reassured that the new solid waste management system was well thought out and positioned to offer an enduring solution to the waste management challenge thrown up by population increase and facility deficit that the State has had to encounter over time. “I wish to reiterate that every transition period has its challenge. What we are witnessing presently is temporary and would soon disappear when the domestic waste operators commence full operations,” he said. Durosinmi-Etti emphasized that the state government had repeatedly warned against any abuse of its environmental laws and all acts capable of compounding the challenge experienced in transiting to the new waste management system. He urged residents to always bag and dispose of their waste appropriately by making use of waste bins placed in strategic locations all over the State. He said the four people apprehended would be made to cart away refuse as a form of communal service to deter others. Durosinmi-Etti thereafter commended market leaders in Agege for their vigilance and called upon all Lagosians to emulate them by being a vanguard of their environment, adding that it was in the interest of all to be their environment keeper. http://saharareporters.com/2018/02/20/lagos-govt-appeals-residents-increasing-heaps-refuse-state Cc: lalasticlala

The Kaduna state chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has passed a vote of no confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari, saying his administration had failed to decisively tackle the herdsmen’s attacks currently threatening the corporate existence of the nation. The association also opposed the establishment of cattle colonies across the federation, pointing out that the move was tantamount to creating the colonies for the “foreigners to continue to wage an unrelenting war against innocent Nigerians. Reverend Sunday Ibrahim, the chapter secretary, during a briefing on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Kaduna, called on the electorate to vote credible persons in the 2019 elections. Speaking while receiving the leadership of the state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ibrahim said the government had failed in delivering governance. His words: “The Federal Government has consistently told us that these Fulani herdsmen attackers are foreigners. They said the attackers are members of the Islamic State of West Africa, ISWA, who are on a jihad mission. If that is true, it then means that the government of Nigeria has failed us. But we are saying that enough of this bloodshed in our land.” According to him, the 2019 polls should be based on individual Performances, noting: “Nigerians must be prepared to vote credible people and not people that will continue to tell us lies when they get there. Voting pattern this time around should be based on individual performances and not on party platform. Again, politicians must learn from the 2015 experience. Whoever wins should be allowed to lead and whoever loses must accept defeat in good faith. “Today we have a lot of hunger in the land, Nigerians are suffering and our leaders seem to be comfortable with what is happening. What we need in 2019 is a complete shift from what we are having now and the only way to do it is for Nigerians to obtain the Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs, and use it appropriately when the time comes.” On the clashes between herdsmen and farmers nationwide, Ibrahim condemned the attitude of the federal and state governments in the handling of the situation, adding that the nation had shared enough blood to bring the pogrom to an end. https://www.nigeriancablenewsonline.com/politics/just-can-passes-vote-no-confidence-buhari/#more-5345 |

Nigeria is a Country of privileged thieves. - Dr Piri says: We can only rescue Nigeria during next election. "Who Destroyed Nigeria? PLEASE READ The defensive narrative in recent times especially from those who support the present regime is that "PDP Destroyed" our country and it will take several years to rebuild it. With both right and wrong data. However, if the above assertion is true, then a close look at the current political gladiators leaves us with no other conclusion than to admit that Nigeria is very far from the desired change. 1. *Sen. Pres. Bukola Saraki. PDP Governor for 8yrs and PDP Senator for over 3 yrs.* He joined APC in 2014. Now the Senate President. 2. *Speaker Yakubu Dogara. Two-term PDP House of Rep member.* Joined APC in 2014 and elected for a third time in 2015. Now the Speaker. 3. *VP Atiku Abubakar. Nigeria's PDP Vice-President for 8yrs* and presently an APC Elder statesman. 4. *Sen. Victor Ndoma-Egba. PDP Senator for 12yrs.* Decamped to APC in 2015. He is the serving Chairman, NDDC Board. 5. *Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri. Two-term PDP Senator from Bayelsa State.* Decamped to APC after the 2015 elections. He is a serving Minister of the Republic. 6. *Sen. Ita Enang. Two-term PDP Senator from Akwa-Ibom.* Joined APC before the 2015 elections. Presently the SSA to the President on NASS. 7. *Gov. Samuel Ortom. Benue State Secretary of the PDP, Former National Auditor of the PDP and former PDP Minister.* Joined APC in December 2014. Now Governor of Benue State. 8. *Sen. Barnabas Gemade. Founding fathers of the PDP, former National Chairman of the party and Senator from 2011.* Joined APC in December 2014. Now APC Senator. 9. *Gov. Atiku Bagudu. A two-term PDP Senator from Kebbi.* Now APC Governor of Kebbi State. 10. *Gov. Aminu Tambuwal. Former PDP Speaker House of Reps.* Joined APC in 2014. Now Governor of Sokoto State. 11. *Sen. Abdullahi Adamu. Two-term PDP Governor of Nasarawa state and Senator from 2011-2014*. Now APC Senator. 12. *Sen. Danjuma Goje. Two-term PDP Governor of Gombe State and Senator in 2011- 2014*. Now APC Senator. 13. *Hon. Dakuku Peterside. Was a PDP Rep member from Rivers State.* Now the DG of NIMASA. 14. *Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso. Two-term PDP Governor of Kano State and former Minister of Defence.* Now APC Senator. 15. *Hon. Rotimi Amaechi. Former PDP Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Two-term PDP Governor of Rivers.* Now APC Minister of the Republic. 16. *Gov. Rochas Okorocha. Special Adviser to PDP's Pres. Obasanjo. Became the Governor of Imo under APGA's platform.* Now APC Governor of Imo State. 17. *Sen. George Akume. Two-term PDP Governor of Benue State and Senator in 2007.* Now APC Senator. 18. *Gov. Nasir El-Rufai. Former FCT Minister under Pres. Obasanjo.* Now APC Governor of Kaduna State. 19. *Gov. Bello Masari. PDP Speaker of the House of Reps in 2003.* Now APC Governor of Katsina State. 20. *Sen. Adamu Aliero. Two-term PDP Governor of Kebbi State and Senator in 2007. Later became FCT Minister under Pres. Yar'Adua.* Now APC Senator. 21. *Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma. Two-term PDP Senator from Akwa-Ibom State.* Now APC Minister of Budget & National Planning. Now, *apart from Atiku, all the above are holding sways in this regime. They all played a part in the 16yrs of "PDP destruction"* So, how can this same people that plunder PDP but somehow are now members of the APC "rebuild" Nigeria. Wow! Therefore, my submission is that *PDP did NOT destroy Nigeria but the Nigerian people destroyed Nigeria*. *Hence, the need to vote candidates/people in 2019, not party.* The personality is the issue and not APC, PDP, APGA or LP.* In view of the above submission, "change" is still pipeline dream in this country. Since these people are part of a problem, they definitely can't be part of any rightful solution. Our politicians lack credibility and have nothing to offer us anymore. They jump ship as soon as they discover where the pendulum of victory is swinging without minding the consequences of their actions on the subjects. These same set of people are the big stakeholders in this government. So, the President is helpless. He can achieve very little or nothing with these corrupt politicians around him. Therefore, for true change come 2019, we have a duty to vote them out and youths must not help them rig election. Let's create a new Nigeria where patriotism, sound ideology and Nigerians will be the focus of our political leaders and not personality. Agenda 2019. DO NOT RECYCLE CORRUPTION. MAKE SURE THAT ALL FORMER GOVERNORS, MINISTERS AND LEGISLATORS ARE VOTED OUT. Nigerians, Wake up!!! |

Former English Premier League top referee, Mark Clattenburg may have earned himself more honours with his action on Friday night. Clattenburg, a well respected referee in the United Kingdom, badged by FIFA and UEFA and who has covered top matches like the UEFA Champions League final moved to Saudi during last summer. He claimed the number of criticisms, sometimes threats on his life and family were enormous and pressurizing and didn’t help his delivery on the pitch. The criticisms, according to him masterminded his decision to quit the EPL for a quest in helping the development of the Saudi league after being presented with an offer that was irresistible. Apparently, it appears Clattenburg aims to leave greater marks in Saudi Arabia’s football as the head of referees after taking a decision that has gotten the entire world talking about his wisdom. Clattenburg was taking charge of the Saudi King’s Cup tie between Al-Fayha and Al-Fateh on Friday night, January 26 when the match went into extra-time. The experienced referee immediately stopped the game and collected the ball when he heard the “Adhan” (call to prayer) from a nearby mosque. The match was put on hold for three minutes as the Adhan was called and didn’t restart the game until nothing was heard from the mosque again. The fans in the stadium applauded his rare and legendary act. Encomium has poured in for Clattenburg for his show of appreciation of the other religion and his love for peace in the world. Clattenburg was the most respected referee in the Premier League before he exited and has officiated top games in football. He was once accused of making racial comments against Nigerian international midfield anchorman, John Mikel Obi when he represented Chelsea in a game against Manchester United. https://aledeh.com/referee-mark-clattenburg-stops-cup-final-saudi-respect-call-prayer/
