Each application is assessed on its own merits. That said, a history of visa refusals will naturally prompt closer scrutiny by a caseworker. While applicants are not responsible for how UKVI weighs this, the expectation is that all previous refusals and the merits of the current application are considered holistically when a decision is made. You should declare all previous refusals fully and accurately. The order (oldest to most recent or vice versa) is less important than consistency and correctness.Keep the explanations factual and concise. Do not attempt to re-argue or embellish the reasons. Your credibility is established not by explanations alone, but by whether your academic progression, financial position, and study intentions are clear and consistent across the application. Declaring previous refusals does not negatively affect an application, UKVI already has visibility of this information. Non-disclosure, however, is a credibility issue and carries risk As regards priority or expedited services, it may be worth reconsidering this option. Applications with a history of refusals are typically treated as non-straightforward, meaning additional checks are often required. In such cases, priority services do not always result in faster decisions, because the underlying verification processes still take time. Using priority is therefore not always the most effective approach in refusal-history cases. A more important consideration is whether your institution has granted an extended enrolment or latest arrival deadline. If so, submitting a standard application early while clearly reflecting that extension (often already stated on the CAS) is usually more practical. UKVI will see this information when reviewing the CAS in any event. Unfortunately, where there is a refusal history, early application is key. It allows time for any additional checks and provides some room to respond if issues arise. ohlordhavemercy: |
Banks usually have their format for this(reference letters). Speak to your account manager about a reference for visa purposes, they know what to do. you can work out the fine details with them as per who to address it to etc TheGreenlight: |
You can only apply for a student visa once your university confirms that you’ve met all the conditions of your offer and issues your CAS. Since your degree certificate forms part of the academic documents verified before CAS issuance, it’s important to confirm directly with your university whether your current documents are sufficient for this stage. Please reach out to your admissions team as soon as possible they will be able to advise on what documentation they require before issuing your CAS. It is best to clarify this early to avoid delays in CAS issuance. Oyetunde49: |
You have only shared an excerpt of the refusal notice. Was this the sole reason for the refusal? It’s important to review the full letter to understand whether any other grounds were cited. Was the applicant granted the right to request an Administrative Review? If this was the only reason for refusal and she wishes to formally set the record straight, that would be the appropriate channel to use. Please note that during an Administrative Review, no new documents can be introduced; the review is based solely on the materials originally submitted with the visa application. Therefore, if she is confident that the previous refusal history was accurately declared on her form and she retains proof of this submission, she may wish to proceed with an Administrative Review to have the record corrected. Kindly clarify the exact nature of the error on your certificate? If this is a recent discovery that wasn’t apparent during your admission application, it’s important to inform your university immediately. They need to be aware so you don’t risk a delay in receiving your CAS Regarding your question about UKVI requesting your degree certificate: typically, you are expected to submit the documents listed on your CAS when applying for your visa. Since your certificate will form part of the academic documents verified before CAS issuance, your university’s compliance team will normally require the corrected version before proceeding. However, depending on the nature of the discrepancy, some institutions may accept an affidavit in lieu of an outright replacement for the CAS process so it is best to clarify their position early. You should be able to get a refund for your IHS payment since the visa was refused, but not for the super priority fee. The super priority service only covers faster decision-making, not the outcome. Since a decision was issued, that service is considered completed. Regarding administrative review (AR), please note that it does not allow you to submit new documents or evidence. It only looks at whether the decision was made correctly based on the information already provided in your application. If your refusal was based on your UKVI interview, the transcript or summary of that conversation will be included in your refusal letter. Unless you can show that your words were misrepresented or recorded incorrectly, an AR may not lead to a different result. You can apply to other schools immediately if you wish, but be aware that every university will refer your case to their internal compliance team. They will review your refusal letter before deciding whether to issue you an offer/CAS. This means you should be transparent about your previous refusal, as it cannot be concealed. Also, since you’ve already had a refusal, there’s a high likelihood that you’ll be called for another UKVI credibility interview in any future visa application. It’s important to go over your refusal reasons carefully and make sure you can address any areas where your earlier responses may have appeared unclear or inconsistent. Vennysing: |
As per the delayed visa outcome, per chance do you have a visa refusal history from any country including the UK? jago2016: |
Statement of account please covering the required wait period. Clems81: |
So really, this is not something to be concerned about. The documentation to cover your study gap should start from your NYSC certificate and beyond. For your post NYSC work experience with the same organization where you did your NYSC, a reference letter confirming that you were retained and highlighting the duration would suffice. No salary information required in the letter or accompanying pay slip required Yes not every one is and would be interviewed. Hope this helps Kbrule: |
Priority "visa" is a UKVI commercial partner service. If available at the time of booking for your biometrics whether in May or June, you can select and pay the extra costs associated with the Priority or Super Priority services. To benefit from an expedited process, your application must be straightforward by this I mean as clear and complete as possible. Complex cases may not be expedited, especially if additional information or checks are needed. ezeksojo: |
You really do not need a birth certificate for your student visa application. Is there any particular circumstance you want to validate with your birth certificate? spactacus: |
University of Northampton's MRES programme is in Sport and Exercise Lia20: |
Just to be clear, you are the main applicant (sister) and you want to complete a student dependant application for your brother (your dependant)? If this is the scenario, there is no provision in the student visa guidance for this type of arrangement. i do not believe there will also be a form for this. sakieja: |
The Case Manager will use the OANDA exchange rate from the day you submit your visa application to determine whether you meet the financial requirements for your programme. However, for planning purposes, it is advisable to use the OANDA rate and incorporate a buffer to account for any fluctuations that may arise during the 28-day holding period. I hope this information is helpful. Michellasilva: |
Proof of the origin of funds for a student visa application is not required to be pre-loaded. Based on your submission however, a case manager may request to see this if they believe it may help clarify something they have spotted in your application. As you have mentioned that you graduated in 2024 and are not presently employed, an employment letter is not required. ItsSmile: |
Yes an NYSC certificate can be used to account for a study gap. No reference letter required as per your circumstance. NYSC Certificate just fine! Victoriaautos: |
Yes you can use a combination of currencies. The OANDA rate on the date you submit your visa application would be used to check if you have the required equivalent on all currencies and have met the financial evidence illuminaty: |
Just to be clear, your worry is that the first page and the last page of your bank statement contain the physical signature and bank stamp which you didn't include? there is no salary information to be noted on these pages right? If yes, this shouldn't be a worry, if all the other pages were printed on the bank's identifiable stationary, has the bank logo, your name , account number and transaction history, transaction dates etc and you have highlighted clearly the salary portions to be noted as part of your evidence it should be fine. candor4: |
From your enquiry below, these are my assumptions you are either on a Masters by Research or PHD programme or you are a government sponsored student? you are applying with your spouse because of the above? you are both applying for independent Masters Programmes and are using the same account for POF? If any of these are correct, alongside a fully compliant POF , you should add a letter of authorization from your spouse which grants you permission to utilize the funds in the account for visa purposes. This is taking for granted that you are also including documentation to prove this relationship. nues79: |
Yes they would. Just ensure that they are properly organized so the information is clear enough for any caseworker to review and make a straightforward decision. Maleekplus234: |
My comments are specifically regarding the advice on the preferred financial evidence for the visa application hmmm. There is no part of the UKVI guidance that promotes this advice as regards using one's parents account above using one's personal account especially where such personal account is fully compliant with the specified holding period and where the accurate amount required for one's financial evidence has been provided. It would be helpful if you provided the specifics of this person's refusal and not an opinion of the reason for refusal so we can take note of any recent trends. Georghino02: |
Offer letters/Employment letters are just fine! No explanation is required for the 3 months you have not been in employment. The requirement is not for you to provide per second, per minute update of your employment status over the study gap period, showing significant engagement in the intervening period is fine. Maleekplus234: |
So, i am not quite sure why a study gap letter was required as part of the documentation for a university admission application. Typically, a CV is required for a university admission application. However, if you have submitted a study gap letter to your institution as part of your admission process and wish to submit the same letter for your visa application, you may update the address to reflect the intended audience. BigshotAsola5: |
Technically, a CV as a standalone document is not required for a student visa application. For a CV to be relevant in a student visa application, it should be submitted alongside the evidence of the applicant's employment history for ease of cross referencing by the case worker. A detailed study gap letter alongside the corresponding documents to validate the claims in the letter should be fine as support documentation for the study gap. BigshotAsola5: |
Here is a link to the IHS calculator. you can provide your details here to have an idea of the projected cost. You will see the actual cost when you are eventually applying for your visa. It would not be radically different from this. https://www.immigration-health-surcharge.service.gov.uk/checker/type Omoboyeo: |
There should be no negative impact if your submission of the documents is towards the receipt of your CAS. The important part is you need to do the maths as already explained for whosoever is reviewing so they know what to confirm. As this is going to your school, just use the body of the email to do this. Didiama1: |
If this is the only area of your application you would like to draw the attention of the ECO to, you can also just use the additional/extra information section on the Visa application itself. my suggestion would be to simplify it by doing the maths by providing the outstanding financing requirement and then show the distribution of the requirement per account you are presenting so the ECO knows exactly what to verify. If you are presenting employment history as the documentation for your 6 year study gap, i think the most important thing is if the employment history you are presenting shows a progression over the 6 year period. A trainee is an entry level position so if you are including other documents that show that you have moved to other roles during the intervening period and also shows what your present role is i do not see why the salary information on your trainee employment letter should stand out. Also include the documents listed on your CAS enesty: |
just to clarify that you are saying your reason for applying to this particular school and for this particular programme is because you will be unable to provide your degree certificate? There may be other considerations which may have gone into the decision making process that you didn't mention. However, if this is the key consideration, then you may be short changing yourself. If you have an undergraduate degree and your degree classification is within the first class to a second class lower bracket then you are over qualified for the Bachelors top-up programme. In your case, If the senate of your institution has met and approved that you have completed your programme and approved your degree classification, you may wish to apply to a number of institutions in your course of interest at Masters level and proactively discuss the present concerns with retrieving your certificate. You may be pleasantly surprised this may not be a deal breaker for some schools and your statement/notification of result may suffice for an unconditional offer or a reference letter confirming that your certificate is awaiting issuance. UK Schools attend exhibitions in Nigeria from time to time. You may consider attending these and explore the offerings on display and also have these conversation face to face so it can also enable your decision making. Jesusweptoh: |
UKVI confirms exchange rate from OANDA. Applicable rate will be the rate from the day you submit your application. jamesy212: |
An affidavit is your best bet. However, i am just curious as to why you have the same error repeated on both your WAEC and your degree transcript? if 2nd of March is your correct date of birth as reflected on your birth certificate asides an affidavit, i also suggest you attempt to regularize your records with all parties so you have limited instances where you continue to explain disparities in records.
