In clear terms explain what you were engaged in. Were you buying and selling? you can mention that you were on an entrepreneurship Journey trading in ---------. You can detail why you started this journey. e,g you noticed that there was a gap in the market and you could meet the demands at a much cheaper cost on -------- products. you can end with the skills you gained during this period e.g you expanded your network, improved your product knowledge, selling skills and are now equipped to run a successful business.

No stories of grandeur, just plain, logical explanations.

Flemor:
Please house,
I got a conditional offer stating I need to explain the study gap between 2009 when I finished sec shld and 2013 when I got admission. I used those periods to hustle
Pls how best can I explain?

Is the programme you are applying for in BCU a conversion programme ? i.e the Masters Programme doesn't require that you have a background in Computing, then it may not be relevant and contribute to the decision making process. However, you may include it to show that you have sort to improve yourself and added to your knowledge outside your field of study.

viperVIP:
Hello everyone,

I am applying to BCU for MAsters' degree, in the form I'm filling out, I already filled that I have a B.Ed in Sports & Physical Education which is (PHE) in our system here, but I also have a Diploma Certificate in Desktop Publishing and a Certificate in Renewable Energy too, can I include these 2 professional certificates alongside, because I am switching to Computer Science.

Kindly advise please.

Sent you an email.

Interesting offwego,

Thanks for the screenshot. For some reasons I just checked now and it is same. Below is what I saw now.
Although, I understand applications sent via their regional office or agents is possible now.

Below is the chat.

I don't mind sending my application now so as to get a decision early and allow enough time for the other process. Can you please advise?

Thanks for your help!!

Your have not mentioned that your spouse maintains a joint account with his father so we can assume that your enquiry here is about a sponsorship arrangement. As your husband is an adult, this arrangement does not qualify under the financial sponsor arrangement. It would be much tidier that your husband requests that the funds be transferred to his own account

Good morning please my question is that my husband is applying to a school in Uk for masters and I’ll be going with him as his dependant, and he intends to use his father’s bank statement for the 28days account statement required for cas and visa application, please I want to be sure if there won’t be an issue with that. What were the reasons for the refusal on both occasions?
Renesonz:
Please, if you’ve been refused visa ( visit visa) to the UK, must you write a cover letter when applying for study visa?
I was refused 2 visit visa applications last year with the second one in August and I’m applying for a study visa.
The visit visa application was to sit for exams for some courses I had done remotely( online) and I’m now applying to the same school to sit for the exams and complete the entire course ( as I couldn’t do anything more because of the refusals)
Please advice.
Thank you

Most of the questions you have asked have already been covered by the responses provided so i will just provide additional information where relevant.
thelonehermit:
When I go to embassy for visa, do I also need 3 months statement of account? I know people usually need to explain large deposits, is it necessary if for example you have large sum in your closing statement that has been there for more than 1 month for example? Do I need to explain it's from savings from like 4 years of living abroad in a different country.

The guidance has already been provided on what the tuition fees and maintenance requirements are for you as a solo applicant ( i.e 28 and 30 day requirement) which should guide your planning and you do not need a 3 months bank statement as already mentioned.

Technically, explanations are not required for the origin of POF. However, if you submit a bank statement which covers your financing requirement in full and a ridiculously large balance then you attract questions on your personal circumstance as a recently graduated student. You may at this point need to proactively focus the ECO by acknowledging this situation and providing explanations as to the origin of funds so your application may not be viewed in a certain type of way

Also do any of you know anything about Uni of Greenwich, would you recommend it to someone you know or you have better Unis that are affordable (Masters in International Business, Entrepreneurship or HR) January 2023 intake.

There are many reasons why students would choose a particular University. Ranking, fees, Location, proximity to family etc. What's important to you?

University of Greenwich has a diverse student population which includes a healthy number of Nigerian students so there is that sense of community. For students, who would like to do the MBA programme straight off their Undergrad studies(with no work experience) the University provides that flexibility which is appealing especially to Nigerian students. The student union president some years back was also of Nigerian origin.

The Greenwich campus is very picturesque and touristy . If you are a movie buff, the University is also a famous film location. Scenes from movies like, Tomb radar, Skyfall, the Kings speech, Dark Knight rises were filmed there. So as a student, you can jejely be walking and stumble on a movie set. there also used to be an Ice Rink at the Greenwich Campus during christmas so people come in to skate pre-covid.

The two programme areas you mentioned in your earlier email are open for January applications.
@Mattmich @offwego thank you so much for taking out precious time to reply me, I really appreciate it a lot. You all are so kind and I already feel a sense of community here in this thread. Thanks so much.

Another thing,

I want to clarify if after showing POF (28 days maturity) to get CAS from Uni,

Probably the Institution has assessed your NECO English language grade not to be at the right level for their Masters programme. To be sure, send them an email highlighting your NECO English grade and request that they confirm if this covers for the pre-sessional English requirement. I believe their response will inform your next steps.

I applied for MSc Data Science and actually use NECO. While applying, I was asked to choose the pre-sessional English test if I didn’t have IELTS.

Please see responses below

Please is it possible to use Form A to pay for UK Uni tuition? if yes does anyone know the exchange rate?

Yes Form A can be used to pay for tuition fees as have being reiterated widely through the thread. The rate varies. Importantly, the rate is lower than the black market rate.

Also if I pay full tuition for 1 year Msc, how much do I need to show for POF and what happens if God forbid I don't get the visa? the school will refund me abi? school in question is university of greenwich..

POF is made up of 2 key elements. Tuition Fees and Maintenance. If you pay your tuition fees in full, you will need to show evidence that you have your full maintenance requirement. I believe you had mentioned an interest in HR, Psychology and sports in your initial enquiry about the University of Greenwich. The HR and Psychology Masters programmes are offered at the Greenwich campus in London. If you are offered admission for any of these programmes, you would need to show maintenance POF of 12,006GBP.

Generally, students are refunded the tuition deposit paid when they are unsuccessful at the Visa application. However, institutions also reserve the right to withhold refunds when the Visa refusals are based on Fraud.

Also when showing POF for CAS do I need to explain large recent deposits? also for UK embassy is it 3 months statement of account or 1 month? I'm asking cos I will transfer a large deposit from my savings here to my Nigeria account which I plan to use for the visa application

POF should cover a consecutive 28 day period not older than 31 days before you submit your visa application and not 3 months. This is the key requirement that should be considered when planning the financing requirement for your visa application.

Gurus in the house, I greet una, a question for the road;

Send a follow up email to Bradford to confirm receipt of the tuition fees sent and highlight that it should be applied towards the January start. Please go ahead and schedule your TB test as you actually need to select a date based on availability of dates and start getting your POF in place.

I deferred my admission to January(from September) due to delay in fees payment from CBN but I was later debited today.
1: My school (University of Bradford) requires POF and TB before issuing CAS, is it too early to start the processing since I will be moving in January?

Kindly provide additional information. what course did you apply for? do you not have the standard English Language qualification in WAEC?

I received a conditional offer from the University of Gloucestershire. As part of my condition, I was asked to take a pre-sessional English course.

Can I still bypass this by taking IELTS instead?

When submitting a substitute document as a replacement for a required visa support document, please ensure you proactively draw the ECO's attention to this. Add a note to provide a concise and clear explanation.

E.g Kindly note that i am submitting certified true copies of my Marriage certificate with this application as my original certificate got missing in transit(example purposes only. you can provide your own particular circumstance in the note)

Does UK embassy in Nigeria accept certified true copy of marriage certificate, for those who misplaced theirs?

The earliest you can apply is 3 months before the expiration of your existing visa. The latest you can apply for a visa extension from the UK is within 14 days of having overstayed on your existing Visa. With this you need to demonstrate a good reason beyond your control why you could not apply before the expiry date. As per your question, if you have not received an unconditional offer for the Masters Programme by the end date of your Visa, due to no fault of yours, this would be the underlying reason for applying post visa expiration.

JamesHanu:
Thank you so much for this response..

Now I’m much concerned about the top up program. Since I can apply for a visa extension before the existing one expires. But how possible is it for me to apply for masters three months to the time I’m supposed to finish my top up program. I thought my top up student visa will be valid through out my program alone which can be a year…I’m just concerned about the extension cos I would like to continue from there instead of coming back home..

1. Are there universities in the Uk that truly accept HND for masters?. I mean maybe someone on here has tried it and it worked out. If yes please sir/ma I would like to see the lists of schools that accept HND so I can start making enquires pending the time I’m ready.

There are institutions that can consider an application for a direct Masters with an HND qualification. However, you must have most preferable an upper credit AND significant years of work experience

2. Also for the Bachelor’s top up degree program. Am I to come back to Nigeria and apply for masters after I completed the program? Or I can just switch directly while I’m still in the uk instead of coming back to Nigeria to apply for masters again?.

You do not need to return to your home country. you can apply for a visa extension. You must submit your visa extension application before your existing visa expires and no later, and you will need to have applied for the Masters Programme and received an offer of a place on the programme. The earliest you can apply is three months before the existing visa expires.

3.concerning the part payment of tuition fee, can someone in the uk help me pay probably if I send him/her the money to help me pay?..

Yes please

Agents actually don't issue Visas. This is the purview of the ECO. There are a number of reasons why a Visa can be refused. Let's not immediately assume and ascribe negligence.

CowbellY:
They are using an agent that applied for a visit visa for them last month, failed. Now, applying for a study visa on their behalf as well.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by offwego: 8:55pm On Aug 01, 2022
Agents have their relevance. Not all stories from agents are "stories that touch". One needs to intentionally seek out the good ones who understand and can appropriately interpret and apply immigration rules.
CowbellY:
If.yoh have not submitted then add the rejection to it. And why are you using an agent in god's name. Filling a visa form is less than 20 mins process.

You are using the same agent that failed in getting you a visit visa now you're not sure what to do.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by offwego: 8:26pm On Aug 01, 2022
My 2 cents

When there are instances of Visa refusals, asides being upfront in stating this in a fresh application, applicants should never shy aware from setting the records straight especially as the refusals have been consistent in this instance. As there has been no formal response from the applicant addressing any of the queries raised prior to this time as you have rightly mentioned, this application provides the perfect opportunity to do this.

My advice on the cover letter will be to itemize and address each refusal independently so the facts of each case are clear, the ECO is advised and there is no room to perceive your application in any other way.

E.g Refusal 1 ( Date of application ,date of Refusal , Type of Visa)
Eco's query .------------ quote this from the refusal advise
My Response ------------ Provide your explanation

bigtt76:
it's a dicey one here and i tell you why.

1. The last rejection - family visit visa was refused despite mother and brother being residents, did she get her brother to invite her formally and present all the required evidences to show he was accommodating her? Applying now for student visa this early, may be seen as a ploy to migrate and could lead to another rejection. If she had known, an administrative review at that time could've sorted this out.

2. To remedy the situation if school eventual overlook the above, is to include a cover letter when submitting a new application detailing what happened leading to the last refusal highlighting the fact that the ECO misplaced bank account currency leading to wrong fund valuation.

3. You must also explain the huge deposits made to the account for the last refusal and also avoid making similar mistake in the current process.

Good day everyone.

Good job y’all are doing honestly. I’ve been a silent reader and observer because I believe I’ll soon start my application also.. okay here’s the thing. I finished my HND early June(though my results is still under review), then I used google in search of schools that accept HND for masters I was given some which had Sunderland university and Bournemouth university on the lists. I write to both schools and I was told they don’t accept HND for masters but instead they accept HND for top up programs which I can then switch to masters after a year…

Now my questions are these.

The MA Education Programme at the University of Northampton is now accepting applications for February 2023. You can go ahead and make your application.

Fredaogb:
I applied to Ulster University Birmingham campus and when I checked my status it indicated "Application query". Pls is there anyone who applied and saw same on their status?

*Also, Is there anyone who is yet to get a Conditional offer from University of Northampton since they applied. I applied since 15th of May and I got an update via email from the school to re-apply for the next program intake. Unfortunately, the application tab for Education (MA) program will not be live till ending of August as I contacted the school when I couldn't not re-apply.
Has anyone in the same situation been able to pull through?

* I will also appreciate if I can get details of some UK Universities with fast response time for January 2023 intake. I am looking at Education MA program.

Thank you!

Good afternoon everyone, please if a school is asking for affidavit concerning error on date of birth of transcript on the offer letter , can the person get it from any court in Nigeria , though the person didn’t school in Nigeria or must it be in the country the student studied ?
Please I need your help
Firstly, i think you may need to provide additional information on why/how there is an error on the date of birth on the transcript and what type of error it is( is it the year of birth that has the error or the date/month). if this is an error by the institution where you studied abroad, are you not able to contact them to regularize their records and issue a fresh transcript with the correct details? especially if all your records with the institution are identical except just the transcript.

Secondly, except you provide some additional information, i am not quite sure why and how an affidavit is relevant in this scenario.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 7 by offwego: 5:27pm On Jul 26, 2022
Firstly, If you are applying for a programme that requires that you have some work experience in a related area, it is important you tailor your your NYSC experience to show relevance to the programme area.

Secondly, if the programme you are applying for requires a specific number of years of experience which is above your 1yr NYSC experience, then you can include any pre-graduation experience that is relevant to the programme area to boost your relevant work experience. This could be experience garnered through volunteering.

Except your agent has specific concerns about you not having the required number of relevant years of experience outlined for the programme, i am not quite sure how this would affect your admission.

I suggest you go online and familiarize yourself with the entry requirements for the programme so you can further engage your agent.

MadarasBlade:
Hello guys.

Please i finished my Nysc last year February, i don't have any work experience other than the one i acquired during Nysc.

Does it really affect my chance for admission?

Note: i graduated 2020.

All I see here is a school that's desperate not to lose it's Nigerian customers, and are now granting them waiver.
On the flipside, this could also show an agile institution that is responsive to the present challenges prospective students are experiencing and has created a workaround which would give the best possible outcomes for both the students and the institution.

Hello house,
i was rejected my visit visa, the rejection letter attached to the mail was blank but i have no right to appeal or administrative review. I sent a paid email and i was told i should wait 15working days (i think it's a generic response). please my question is, can i reapply again immediately or i should wait 3 months again before reapplying?
It would be better to wait for the stipulated period. if you don't get the response after this then send another email. knowing the reason your initial application wasn't successful is always important so you can correct the errors or leverage the additional information boxes in your next application to clarify any grey areas. Reapplying immediately, blind, gives off the vibes that you are desperate. This shouldn't be how you would want your application to be perceived.

This is encouraging. I got a visit visa refusal in April. Am really worried it might affect my application. Am worried because I use a relative biz name that I work there and no salary was reflecting in my account. I had funds entering account as I was helping wt my parents house project since dy are not in Naija. They said It was inconsistent .....If I had known, I would not have tried it. I will use faith believing it will work out since it's a different class of application.Na only faith remain
One thing that should be top of mind when making a visa application and any other type of application is that there must always be a logical flow. The burden is always on you to substantiate every claim you make. As you apply faith and trust for a positive outcome this time around, please also ensure that you are in full compliance and all the documents you provide in support of your application demonstrate that you meet the requirements for a uk study visa. Don't dwell too much on the initial refusal take the right steps going forward.
