One of the reasons why NNPC can not supply local refineries is because Buhari government sold crude oil in advance in a contract that ends in June

There was a press conference he was with Trump in. Trump put a pile of papers infront of him and the idiot just began signing like a school boy. Trump was smiling like a cooked he-goat the entire time. That's when I knew that mugu was selling us live on camera. They didn't even talk they just shook hands and the papers came.

I have never seen one head of state hover over another while the other is face down signing papers alone on camera like a chimp

In America, waste, water, streets, schools, tax, police are under the purview of local government. Who makes up local government? People living in the community. In Nigeria we funnel external resources to someone answering governor to be in charge of allocating it to local government in places he hardly knows and we wonder why there is so much theft and irresponsibility in government.

Soludo did one good thing in Awka and that was put an honest hard working Awka man in charge of ACTDA. The roads got patched quickly, the squatter shacks along roads removed.

But for sustainability this model should be a city or town development agency run by qualified honest indigenes with clear cut responsibilities and oversight from both state and eminent leaders to prevent abuse.

The truth is, the Nigerian and American systems are extremely similar. One issue is the Local Governments do not do anything in Nigeria. People except the bare minimum from them and they deliver the bare minimum. And I actually think the SE local governments are the best, it is worst in other regions. Some regions they dont even know there's such a thing as Local Government Chair etc.

Everything you listed is also supposed to be handled by the local government but they're honestly more corrupt and useless than the governors. Governors are celebrities so everyone puts their eyes on them. When we start pressuring local governments, we will see a BIG change because no superman state government can do all of that for thousands of communities.

Islam for Muslims / Can Someone From The North Explain The Conflicts With Shiites? by Ofodirinwa: 6:16pm On Apr 05
Every now and then we get news of conflict between Shiites and the state, or Shiites and Sunni. A lot of news and happenings from the north don't make it to the south and I could imagine it's also the other way around.

This thread isn't to cast judgement, everywhere in Nigeria, every state and every local government, has some sort of conflict. I have dedicated this year to learning more about the current affairs of the other parts of Nigeria so don't read this as a religious or tribal question. Our understanding in the south is 'Sunni and Shiite don't like each other', but I know there's more to understand than this.

Like all Nairaland threads, aimless people will wander in and try to cause trouble but I will only focus on mature adults.

Checked all his profile, he has never owned any business prior to Air peace. He has never had any known business or worked legitimately with any firm that could explain his source of wealth.
From nowhere, Air peace came to existence in 2013, little did we know that the airline was established with proceeds of corruption during the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. The airline was established with speed express without any hassle from the authorities. The man behind the scene making every moves possible was the one and only Kingsley Kuku, the ex-SA and Chairman of Presidential Amnesty Programe, 2011. He was one of the few most powerful men in the government of GEJ, a very close pal of Patience Jonathan and President Goodluck Jonathan but he likes keeping a low profile. Kingsley Kuku appointed his colleague and confidant, Allen Onyema as his consultant for the Presidential Amnesty Programe. PAP handled multibillion contracts yearly on behalf of ND youths. 3 years after, there was an Airpeace.

Onitsha mentality = intelligence lol, was that an insult or what?
At additional 15 seconds is a portal for creating unnecessary traffic jams, unless you think one person will use the road per day. Plus, why spend the next 100 years fixing and patching something that makes a commute less convenient, especially if you spent more to do it? So it can look good on an ariel view on Nairaland.com?

Politics / Re: Why Nigeria Might Never Get Better by Ofodirinwa: 5:24am On Apr 03
proeast:
Something is terribly wrong with the mindset of Nigerians and that’s why we have remained poor and underdeveloped.

For 8 years, Northerners supported Buhari, even when he was destroying Nigeria. The redundant old man was busy building a railway to Niger republic with borrowed Chinese loans. At the same time, his ministers were embezzling billions and committing all manner of frauds but Buhari’s supporters kept cheering him. Anyone that tries to criticize Buhari for his stupid policies and acts were immediately attacked and called ”Igbo”.

8 years after, the same Northerners and their supporters from the SW are now condemning Buhari and saying he destroyed our economy. You then ask, were they blind for 8 years?

Yes, they were blinded by bigotry, primitive tribalism and low IQ. What did the average Northerner benefit from Buhari’s maladministration? Absolutely nothing but they were ready to fight and die for him during those 8 years he was destroying their destiny.

Today again, history is repeating itself. Tinubu is impoverishing our economy and leading millions into poverty while many of his tribal people are busy cheering him on. Many are starving, destitute, and hopeless yet they keep supporting him. Fast forward to 8 years from now, and these same people will be the ones to condemn him.

Do you still have hope in Nigeria? Do you think the country will ever develop like this?

Nigeria gets better every day.

It was designed by the best brains with plans for future population growth to avoid same scenario to Lagos. There's nothing like hold up here, that's why people live in neighboring states of Niger, Nassarawa and work in Abuja.

Ok use your own brain, is that the most efficient and logical intersection or does it look cute from an ariel view? Because if it's not logical or efficient people will not use it correctly and the problems will persist. Forget that it looks good from and ariel, while you're driving it won't look like that lol

Enugu State had the highest increase in built up areas while Imo is now the most built up State.

If you look at Google Earth, Everything from Asaba/Onitsha to Owerri has virtually become one city,
While Aba and Portharcourt will likely merge physically in the next 5-10 years. If Owerri and Aba grow into each other, most of the SE will functionally be one continuous urban amalgamation.

You people should stop making baseless assertions on Nairaland.

The most popular states and cities of Nigeria are the fastest growing ones; these are Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.

Nigerians and foreigners invest billions of naira in those places, their governments are doing relatively well, and their real estate industries are about to explode.

Your talking from your emotions and not your brain
