Onitsha metropolitan area is the largest in igboland. Onitsha had swallowed more than three local governments outside the original Onitsha.

Look at the ranking

1. Onitsha
2. Enugu
3. Aba
4. Awka
5. Owerri

Onitsha is the abroad of ndi imo state, that’s why most imo indigenes prefer to live in Onitsha and it is affecting the high cost of real estate now due to influx of population from imo state

You can't 'swallow' local governments lol. Look how you use hunger to reason

According to Google maps extrapolation.

Owerri is bigger than Aba and Aba is bigger than Enugu.

I can show you proof

you could be right, these aren't static things. Owerri is growing faster than any Nigerian city and has been for a while so it makes sense

So with your input i would say

Owerri
Aba
Enugu
Onitsha

in that order.

Your opinion doesn’t change the reality. Onitsha metropolitan area is the single largest city in igboland, even encyclopedia an international magazine recognized Onitsha as the largest in igboland. Your envy and bitterness cannot change the reality . Anambra is equally the most developed state in Igboland by far that’s why there are millions of imo indigenes living in Onitsha . These are verifiable facts

Enugu is the largest, followed by Aba

Politics / Re: What If Southsouth Does Not Give Southeast Sea Access If Nigeria Divide? by Ofodirinwa: 4:53pm On Apr 01
FatherOfJesus:
There's an UNCLOS international law that lays down a comprehensive regime of law and order in the world's oceans and seas establishing rules governing all uses of the oceans and their resources.

UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). This convention stipulates that countries that are landlocked but have a direct river that connects to the sea have a right to access the sea. Specifically, this is known as the right of "transit passage" and it allows the landlocked country to use the river to reach the sea for trade and other purposes.

Article 125 of the UNCLOS is the article that outlines the right of transit passage for landlocked countries. This article states that landlocked countries have the right to transit through another country's territory in order to reach the sea. The transit passage must be "continuous and expeditious", and it cannot be used for any purpose other than reaching the sea.
This means that by virtue of Imo river connecting directly to the sea from southeast, Southsouth cannot stop southeast from accessing the sea.

But, really, most likely southsouth may be hostile and decide to break this law, the issue may be taking to UN and back and back and forth. However, southeast can hurt southsouth as well. How?

Southeast can cut off river Niger from flowing into southsouth, by the virtue of diversion or building a large dam on it that ensures that water supply is limited in southsouth. This will cause serious environmental issues in the southsouth before and whenever southeast opens the dam. Flooding, ecosystem degradation and loss of Agricultural potentials. It will deplete the reverine ecosystem of southsouth because river Niger is the major body of water entering southsouth.
This has actually occurred several times, once with Syria and the headwaters of the Jordan river and now with Ethiopia and Egypt with Nile diversion.

I believe it’s universally understood as a casus belli, or reason for war and both Egypt and Israel handled it as such.
The Jordan River diversion directly led to the six day war.

At the end of the day, I think if Nigeria splits, both regions may have to cooperate else both will lose. And if the issue gets to UN, southeast will win via UNCLOS law.
The north can also do same by diverting the Niger river for other purposes, they won't lose much if they liase with southwest for access to seaport.

So it's best for southsouth not to even try to prevent Southeast from accessing the sea if Nigeria breaks, it will cause chaos for both regions and southsouth may lose more.

as it stands now, SE without Igbos in SS has full sea access and it's only people who don't understand geography that say this nonsense.
Anyways, Otti has sued FG for the port, so once it's built this stupidity won't be repeated
but a weak nation that blocks anything of a strong nation is destroyed.

Travel / Air Peace Staff Land In London In Ishiagu Attire, Sparking Outrage In Nigeria by Ofodirinwa: 7:11pm On Mar 31
Many are not happy, but regardless this is a great thing to celebrate.

I can't understand why there is such a fuss over Allen Onyema's choice of dress code for his air hostesses. For me, it is not a big deal. Air Peace is not a Nigerian airline, so the owner has the right to select attire that he believes is suitable for his business.

Bashir Ahmad

This is Allen Onyema and Crew matching to board Air Peace inaugural flight to London. This is beautiful. Nigerian businessmen please invest in Nigeria not Dubai 🙏

Do you know that America has thousands of cities and town? Do you know that these towns and cities also have underground gutters that aren't the sewage systems of New York? What are they built with?

ChimaAdeoye:

The ignorance about underground gutters in America or Europe is that we think they are made from concrete. Even abroad where cement is way less expensive than in Nigeria, they still cannot afford to use concrete to build gutters and then build multiple concrete slabs reinforced with steel rods to cover them. That will be insanely expensive even for the rich developed countries.

What we must do is encourage the industries that make the underground gutter pipes used abroad to begin producing such plastic underground drainage gutters here in Nigeria. So that we can encourage our road builders to start using these types of modern pre-fabricated underground gutters for any new projects. Unless we change this fundamentally by pushing for the local production of drainage gutters in Nigeria, we shall continue wasting time asking governments to spend scarce resources on building reinforced concrete slabs to ensure underground drainage gutters. I think we should do it the way it's done abroad via pre-fabricated underground plastic gutters and not using very expensive concrete for it.

I’m surprised to hear she’s unpopular in the US.

I used to think she’s the heroine of the blacks, Indians and Hispanics.

nooo, not at all. The last primary she was the first serious contender to be eliminated. Biden just added her as VP in the end regardless. But even since then her popularity as sunk. There are not enough indians to matter in any election, and blacks don't like her. Her current approval rating is 37% https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/approval/kamala-harris/

This is the second lowest approval rating on any VP in history, only lower than Dick Cheney to sent the country into a war in Iraq.

In Nigeria you guys get news from CNN which is just Democrat controlled propaganda, so they will make her look better and more viable than the rest of the country sees her. At the same time, Fox news will make the republican look good.

Black people are generally indifferent about her, some educated black women like her, but the average black person is indifferent or doesn't like her.

She can actually win the Democratic Party Nomination if the likes of Biden, Obama and Hilary Clinton support her.

The only way to stop her from succeeding Biden is for Trump to defeat them in October.

no she can't. She's unbelievably unpopular in the US and Obama/Hilary etc don't have much political capital left to lend. Nobody is going to listen to the wife of the president for 30 years ago, Biden who is already very unpopular. Maybe Obama, but she would get destroyed by Trump in the general elections and they all know it.

Politics / Re: No One Has Answered This Question About The Fulani by Ofodirinwa: 2:30am On Mar 26
babasolution:
In the study of the archives of Nigerian history written by the British colonial officers,it is clear that the Fulani were on the ascendancy in Nigeria till the British put a stop to their ascendancy.

The Fulani were winning all their wars coming down south, they had virtually the whole north in their hands safe for the igbirra zone and the igala zone( who were shielded by the royal Niger company).

Could they have conquered the zones of the south say Benin or the igbos zones, they terrorised the Yoruba severely but we're unable to capture beyond Ilorin.

The question which no one has answered till date is,what made the Fulani so successful in their wars in the Nigerian territory, they took over all Hausa kingdoms ( every single one of them),took over the Nupe, gwari, destroyed panda, igu of the ebira kwoto, destroyed the jukuns, and harid and enslaved numerous tribes in the north, they destroyed kanuri kingdoms.

Why were the Fulani so successful in warfare.
Only the igbirra and ogori did not fall to the Fulani in the whole north were they attacked.

If you attack, you will be surprised how far you can go until you're stopped. Most of the Jihads were actually revolutions. Or people from the ground (mainly hausa) overthrowing their leaders.

They were stopped by groups (Jukun, Tiv, Igala, Ebira, Kanuri) in the middle belt who were much smaller and weaker than Igbo, Edo, Yoruba and Igala. Further, they relied on horses which would be severly limited in the south and they didn't have an entrenched presence in the south which they used to spark the revolutions and revolts. The Jihad succeeded where it had local cooperation like in the Hausa states and Ilorin

By the time the british got invovled they had gone as far as they possibly could and the Jihad was over
