Politics / Why Don't Middle Belt People React To Middle Belt Killings? by Ofodirinwa: 6:32pm On Feb 19
I have noticed all the the people posting video about the killings of middler belters are Igbo and sometimes Edo.
There are even prominent Middle Belters in NIgeria, and if their fathers village is attacked they would even post as much as a tweet.

I am yet to see Terry G, MI, Tuface, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz etc. You'll never see them say KPIM. It's not even like they tour the North a lot or depend on the north for income. The politicians don't say anything either. It's like the fundamentally don't care, or is there a cultural difference I'm not catching.

Politics / Re: The People Of South East Don't Wish Benue People Well by Ofodirinwa: 6:26pm On Feb 19
Fineman2:
I really don't like creating threads that will cause unnecessary fight but I've carefully studied and monitored events in Benue for some time.

What baffles me the most sometimes is the negative comments from some Igbos saying Benue people are reaping what they planted during the civil war because they helped the Nigerian government, it is one nonsense story almost every Igbo person knows.

Firstly, During the Biafra war, Benue and the entire middle belt was under the control of the Nigerian government with military administrators fully in charge, so how do you expect Benue people serving in the army not to fight with the central government.

Secondly, did ojukwo consult Benue people before going into war? Did he mention Benue as part of Biafra during his speech?

Thirdly, why are they so fixated on Benue than the rest of the middle belt?

Lastly, Is General Yakubu Gowon from Benue state? The man that fought against you

The lack of humanity in these people is truly horrifying, the same way they are supporting the massacre of innocent Palestinians in Gaza but they are always quick to report Nigerian military to ICC for trying to weed out IPOB.

During the last election, Benue, plateau and several states in the middle belt supported Mr Obi and the labour party including my family and myself, in Benue APC won with a difference of just 2k votes, maybe through rigging with the help of Akume the current SGF.

We could've supported Tinubu or Atiku, but we didn't because we believe in Obi more than the rest of the candidates.

My Igbos brothers should get that nonsense story off their heads and stop creating more enemies for themselves, you can't be fighting every other tribe and region and then expect them to support you during elections.

They must learn how to build bridges of love.

IPOB has killed more people in south east than Fulani herdsmen in Benue, it's either they sympathize with Benue people or they keep their mouths shut and avoid such threads completely.

For Benue people, I think they should stop supporting south east thinking they are brothers, they should just remain neutral and stick to middle belt region.

We pray for good leaders that will do things right and change the minds of our people, not tribalistic leaders.

Once again, there's freedom of expression in our constitution, so nobody should get mad at me for speaking my mind.

I also expect them to report this thread, but my message would have been passed by then.

Please leave Benue people alone.

This is why I'm not pro-Fulani

No, you failed. Could be God warning you.

You're either under the age of 18, or a scared weak person, but you're speaking to people with more experience with these people than you have. If you remember thing in 4 years, you will be ashamed of your current mentality. You can resist what I'm saying if you want, but give yourself time.

Igbo's do not protest and most Igbo's do not really have their mind in Nigeria. We most likely will prefer to have the country divide into pieces.

they are trying to goat Igbos into their yeye protest. They bring buhari they protest, they bring tinubu they protest, meanwhile Igbos are campaigning for Tinubu's next tenure

In a very terse statement, you can't give what you don't have. Can southeast pull off a national protest?, do they have the dog in them to fight?, i honestly do not think so. When Prof. Yusuf Usman was asked why the SE are not talking(joining in protests), his response was that he didn't know. Maybe truly, maybe he was being sarcastic, however, historical antecedents and pattern of events have shown quite revealingly that SE has never been a forceful region to gather a momentum for a nationwide protest with an end product for change and national redirection. SE are more docile and submissive, more often than not, they needed a push from other regions to set them on the tangent. Since 1960, all major protests, never had any been ignited in the east. 1987 Ali must go, 1993 democratic movement, 1988 Anti-SAP, 2012 subsidy protest, 2020 End SARS, were either brewed from the SW, SS or North. To be candid, asking SE to talk is a weight a bit too much for them, they're much a less forceful region in Nigeria.

The South East loves Tinubu and we stand on 8 years. We have realized that Tinubu is actually what Nigerians need and we are wealthy enough to weather the storm. It is like a rainstorm that comes to wash your car. Those without a roof are the ones complaining.

Politics / Re: Nigerian Tribes Are Playing With Huge Fire by Ofodirinwa: 5:02pm On Feb 18
babasolution:
A real time thread was released yesterday about a guy who travelled through rural areas in 8 months and witnessed the Fulani slow conquests in the hinterlands.

Many Nigerian tribes don't want to take action in getting rid of the Fulani now before it's too late.

The Fulani pattern is too predictable for all to see,yet the tribes are still acting like it's nothing until they start getting massacred like plateau and Benue people.

Imagine obas being systematically murdered in yorubaland, yet no reprisals on Fulani in yorubaland.

The Muslim Muslim ticket was a terrible mistake that the Nigerian tribes will live to regret

I think Fulanis can have the whole of Nigeria except Igbos because they only people that really resist them are Igbos. The rest of Nigeria wants to be owned and we should stop stressing the Fulani that have come to fullfil a much needed service. If not for Nnamdi Kanu there would be Rugas everywhere in Nigeria. But once Kanu blew the whistle, 'middle belt', 'south south' and SW all revolted against Kanu.

As Fulani systematically kill obas, the focus of the average Yoruba person is Peter Obi being a HEEBO.

So we, the Igbos, think the Fulani are doing a necessary service.

Politics / Re: Does Peter Obi REALLY Want Nigeria To Improve? It Will Hurt Him Politically. by Ofodirinwa: 11:03pm On Feb 17
Kushites:
Peter Obi in my view does not want any improvement in Nigeria.

Improvement of the economy spells a death sentence for his presidential ambition.

Why on Earth would such an ambitious man be eager for the country to improve?

He actually abandoned his party, PDP, and betrayed his mentor Atiku out of a clear desperation to be president.

Such desperation leads one to believe he cannot sincerely be wishing for the best for Nigeria at this time, and likely desires that further calamity befalls the nation, so as to drive Nigerians to vote for him at the next elections.

If Tinubu is successful, he has 8 years. After that the next person can come and be successful. You sound like you don't understand the concepts of government and progress at the same time.

mbaise1000:

I see a pattern in what you said,
The SE didn't vote this govt, the north is protesting against it now and the west are vocal against it now, this simply means that someone made a mistake somewhere, since no one is in support of this govt now, and since this mistake has been made, can we identify who made this mistake and if by any chance those that made the mistake will take responsibility, the mistake will not be repeated again

this is very logical and intelligent, but logic and intelligent is not what we're dealing w/ in Nigeria.
To be fair, Obi won the election, but TInubu out rigged and we all saw it live. So nobody fully chose Tinubu
but you're correct, if Tinubu had supporters they were unanimously from the SW and parts of the north.

but bro, these ppl want to see that their brother is 'in power'. They don't want a better life or a 'better nigeria' they just want to win the argument against EEBOES. As stupid as it sounds, that's the reality. So no mistake was made when Tinubu won, no mistake was made when Buhari won. This is what they want believe it or not.

The Yorubas are just more vocal, and have always been. Check those that always start protest in Nigeria. Ma still them

All of the protesting is happening in the north,
most of the complaining is happening in the SW. Vocal or not, nobody in the north is collapsing from hunger in the middle of a food market

Politics / Re: How Can Nigeria Mass Produce Food Instead Of Importing? by Ofodirinwa: 8:19pm On Feb 17
cooltola:
I recently visited the Federal ministry of Agriculture page online and was not really impressed. All I saw was a bunch of men and women taking photos in their agbada and native wear. While the prices of food is becoming high, I wonder what this ministry is doing about this? How can Nigeria mass produce food ? we have fertile lands in our country and the manpower to do so, the only problem is security and stealing from workers. Food should be cheap and ready available, the only reason why food price is very high is because many food items in Nigeria are imported from other countries. Many countries see Nigeria as a bank, they do not care if $1 is ₦200000, all they care is getting their money. They will price their food items based on their currency , not naira. And there is where the problem lies.
A hungry man will not care if the food is locally made or imported as long he eats. We should support our farmers in anyway or shape.

If you live at home, you can personally consider producing and selling food.
Nairaland is full of people saying business plans as complaints.
Politics / Re: Everyone Should Be A Farmer by Ofodirinwa: 7:37pm On Feb 17
cooltola:
Since food is getting very expensive, make everyone become farmer. If you are unemployed, try farming. Our forefathers were farmers , i do not know why many do not want to farm. Instead of building house and school, let us go back to farming. Buy tractor, hoes , cutlass, seeds , fertilizer or manure and farm the land. Fertile land plenty, one can grow corn, another group cassava, or so on. Agriculture should be big business by now.
Not all areas are taken by bandits or kidnappers.

Are you a farmer?

Politics / Why Food And Price Complaints Are Coming Primarily From SW by Ofodirinwa: 7:36pm On Feb 17
Two recent phenomena

1. Destruction and locking/destruction of thousands of IBO shops. Effect
- less customers for indigenous people who sell goods to the traders

- Shrink in economy as SMEs are the primary source of commerce in Lagos

- people are less likely to invest (buy/build homes, open business) l. Due to potential tribalism

2. Overtaxation

- When governors began to use IGR as a metric of success, I knew this would be a disaster. Now sellers have to increase prices to accommodate tax, inflation, customer loss, and currency decline

- SW is the most heavily taxed region
