A lot of things are working in favour of Lagos to retain that tag for a long time.

But the Imo excess gas supply can be the game changer when exported.

Nigeria recently sign a deal with Germany to start exporting 800,000 TPA of gas to them by 2026 and plans to increase it to 1.2 MTPA later.

I don't know how much Imo will earn from gas export but let's do the calculation.

Imo will produce 6.3 MTPA of gas yearly but Nigeria needs 1.4 MTPA for domestic uses. We currently produce 600,000 TPA and import 800,000 TPA.

This means, Imo will have 5.5 MTPA excess to export.

It costs about $400 million to import around 300,000 TPA. Going by this calculation, we can expect to earn around $7.3 billion annually from exporting 5.5 MTPA to Europe.

Going by today's exchange rate, if my calculation is right, the gas plants will grow Imo GDP from 8.4 Trillion Naira to nearly 19 Trillion Naira. If you factor in the multiplier effects, we should be expecting the GDP to hover around 20 - 22 trillion Naira

But Lagos is a 46 Trillion Naira economy.

As far as GDP alone it is possible. GDP is the value of what is produced, and 4/5 world class gas refineries can do the trick. Especially since this Dangote one seems like another one of Nigeria's notorious 'failed refineries' in the making. I could be wrong though, Lagos is extremely far ahead

I remember when they got an airport then flooded the internet with nonsense to the point that you would forget that are the 5th Igbo state to get an airport (Owerri, Umuahia, Enugu, Asaba, Port Harcourt all predate). I remember telling one mugu that Aba had more factories than Onitsha, which is something the entire world knows. What exactly do they think is happening in Anambra that is not normal everywhere else? Village mansions? If Ndi Anambra can share how they plan on keeping Chino in his cage, I think a ceasefire is long overdue. I have even seen him leave other Igbos alone and focus on other sentatorial districts in Anambra, so this is a mutual problem

With the two new refineries and a possible one in Oguta, Imo can suprass Lagos in GDP, something I didn't think would be possible, but it's looking inevitable.

In years to come, it will make traffic worst, and it's unsightly. People commonly start living under them as well. That is what I mean. It also kills the neighborhoods and areas it's located by because as Nigeria develops and settles, nobody will want to invest near an overpass because it's loud, dangerous and dirty. In the US, all of the neighborhoods that have flyovers become ghettos. But Nigerians are not as sensitive to noise so hopefully this doesn't happen.

You should know that every Igbo thread is under 24/7 attack from people from Anambra. Chino and Desmond Nedu Alaegbu primarily. They are even opening youtube channels to insult other igbo states. This is the undeniable origin of everything happening. This Abia person is responding to an invasion of their own thread with hate because Aba's power plant only caused Anambra people to overheat.

The overheating comes from constantly having to feel like you're superior to other Igbos and that superiority has 0 origin, 0 basis in reality. Geometric power is yet to fire up even one of its three turbines as it negotiates with Shell for gas whose current prices have hit the roofs. To supply even one turbine with constant gas will cost Geometric so much money that it will need to secure loans from banks while hoping that Aba residents pay up the astronomical electricity bills required to offset the costs incurred. And that one turbine as expensive as it is to operate, would not satisfy Aba needs. Just like Dangote refinery, Geometric power will need a few years to come up swinging with complete vigour. Constant electricity is not cheap.

That is what we are asking for now. The amount of containers coming from Onne to Aba alone is alarming. The FG refused to repair the Ukwa axis of the PH-Aba road and it frustrates us. Ariaria alone is enough to bring income to the port; then imagine cemetery market, ahia ohuru, shopping center and all the almaco,, plumbing and tiles sellers along faulks road, pound road, st Micheals........infact the entire Aba is a market ripe enough for a seaport. I pray they don't fix exorbitant fees for clearing goods if actualized though

Of course, in normal countries any place that has human population has ports. A port is just a place to drop things off, you don't even need to justify it. But you're correct, a port near Aba alone will be very busy.

Personally, I see Lagos becoming a bigger Cotonou once Igbos shift east and they're aware.

Aba is the future as it was the past. Abia can actually begin the seaport at Azumiri and if the federal government objects is 6000% suggest Abia take the case to federal court. It is illegal to deny people access to sea by international law.
