Mynd44: Even INEC Doesn't recognise the David Mark leadership.
Why are people confortable with moving into a party and kicking everyone to the side while they take charge. So those that have been there ensuring its survival are mad people or just pieces of furniture? David Mark and his co-travellers need to sit down with the chairmen and find a mid-point else the party went even field any candidate, coalition or otherwise Mynd44, it's quite hilarious how you’re crying over the ADC coalition like it’s some abomination yet you're comfortably ignoring the chaos in APC, Tinubu's party that’s had four national chairmen in just two years. If that’s your definition of internal democracy, then we clearly don’t share the same standards. You’re upset about new people coming into a party and taking charge? Welcome to Nigerian politics. But don’t pretend APC hasn’t done worse from imposed candidates to overnight leadership changes without consultation. Spare us the selective outrage. And since you didn’t bring up the courts, let’s not forget that even the Supreme Court has made it clear: it has no jurisdiction over internal party affairs. Parties must resolve their issues internally. So yes, the ADC leadership including David Mark and all stakeholders must find common ground, but don’t act like this is some unique crisis when APC is the poster child for disorder. If you’re going to critique ADC, apply the same energy to the mess Tinubu and the APC have bestowed upon this country |

Politics › PDP Faults Okpebholo’s Claim On Benin-asaba Road Project by Ofunaofu(op): 9:12pm On Aug 04, 2025 |
The party condemned the governor’s spokesperson's claim that the project is linked to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as “political propaganda and a misrepresentation of facts.” The Edo chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described Governor Monday Okpebholo’s claim of initiating the ongoing reconstruction of the Benin-Asaba Expressway as misleading and inaccurate. In a statement on Saturday, Chris Nehikhare, the spokesperson for the party’s caretaker committee, said the governor’s narrative “distorts public records.” He condemned the governor’s spokesperson’s claim that the project is linked to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as “political propaganda and a misrepresentation of facts.” According to Mr Nehikhare, the expressway project was conceived and finalised through a structured public-private partnership under former Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration. “In January 2024, Obaseki signed a N228 billion concession agreement with Triple A Infrastructure, InfraCorp, and Africa Plus Partners to execute the redevelopment of the road,” Mr Nehikhare said. He explained that the project was part of the federal government’s Highway Development and Management Initiative and followed all required regulatory approvals and standards. Mr Nehikhare noted that the initiative was not a routine contract but a visionary infrastructure renewal effort designed by Mr Obaseki to deliver long-term economic benefits. He insisted that the APC-led federal government played no role in the project’s planning or initiation, alleging that execution was deliberately delayed until after the Edo 2024 elections. The PDP described Mr Okpebholo’s recent inspection tours of the project as mere publicity stunts, saying they added no real value to the project’s scope or funding. The party maintained that the Edo people were politically aware and could not be deceived. It urged the governor to focus on initiating and completing his projects rather than claiming credit for inherited ones. Mr Nehikhare concluded by challenging the governor to deliver on his mandate with original projects that genuinely benefit the people. It could be recalled that during a recent inspection, Governor Okpebholo described the project as a tangible outcome of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He had praised it as a cornerstone of the president’s development vision and a demonstration of the federal government’s commitment to its promises. “This is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President. He is taking this road straight to Asaba. It is going to be 10 lanes. Five on one side, five on the other side,” he said. “Remember, when this road was flagged off a few months ago, the minister for works was here. “The minister for finance was also here. And I was here. This is the fruit of that flag-off,” the governor said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/more-news/811833-pdp-faults-okpebholos-claim-on-benin-asaba-road-project.html |
Politics › El-Rufai Plotting To Impose Atiku As ADC Presidential Candidate – APC by Ofunaofu(op): 8:59pm On Aug 04, 2025 |
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, of attempting to impose former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, at the expense of national unity.
The APC claimed that El-Rufai and his allies in the ADC were attempting to undermine Nigeria’s power rotation arrangement by pushing for Atiku’s candidacy in 2027, despite the presidency currently being held by the South.
The statement comes after El-Rufai’s recent criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
DAILY POST reports that the former governor had at a political meeting in Sokoto on Saturday reportedly described the Tinubu-led government as “incompetent and clannish”.
In a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC dismissed El-Rufai’s remarks.
Morka said El-Rufai and his allies in the ADC were offering no credible alternative to current policies.
According to the APC, the opposition figures lack viable policy proposals and have instead relied on what it called “headline attacks” against the government.
“El-Rufai and Atiku want to do to Nigeria what Atiku did to PDP. The El-Rufai and Atiku hijacked ADC constitute a clear and present threat to the unity, peace and progress of Nigeria,” Morka said https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/04/el-rufai-plotting-to-impose-atiku-as-adc-presidential-candidate-apc/

Politics › If I Were His Son, I’d Advise Him, Wike Criticises Atiku Over Defections by Ofunaofu(op): 2:25pm On Aug 04, 2025 |
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar over his frequent defections across Nigeria’s major political parties, saying his actions are driven by a desperate ambition to become president.
Speaking during a media parley in Abuja on Monday, Wike questioned Atiku’s political consistency and described his movement from one party to another as unbecoming, especially for someone nearing 80 years of age.
“Atiku was in the PDP in 1999, then he joined the Action Congress (AC). After AC, he returned to the PDP, later moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and then back to the PDP again, all in pursuit of the presidential ticket,” Wike said.
He continued with a personal jibe, “If I were his son, I would sit him down and ask: ‘Dad, how can you keep hopping from one party to another at almost 80 years old?’”
The minister said this while reacting to Abubakar’s latest defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of an emerging opposition coalition aimed at challenging President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Wike dismissed the move, describing it as nothing more than political survival.
“The way the PDP is now, it is not likely that Atiku would get a ticket, therefore it is not comfortable. Therefore, he tells you, ‘let’s do a coalition against Tinubu.’ It’s not right,” he said.
“It is because he cannot get the presidential ticket under the PDP that he pushed for a coalition.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/08/if-i-were-his-son-id-advise-him-wike-criticises-atiku-over-defections/

Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, has suggested that Christians won’t support the presidential ticket having former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Mr Peter Obi come 2027. Keyamo claimed that Nigerian pastors won’t come out to campaign for an 80-year-old Muslim president. The Minister stated this while fielding questions on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics. He said: “I want to do small expo, but it’s an expo that will not help them either way. Do you know what they are working on is that they want to bring Peter Obi and Atiku together. “Once you make Obi the deputy to Atiku, the Christian demography will pull out of that 6 million votes Obi won in 2023. “Don’t forget that the President also has a pastor who is a wife. So that Christian demographic we will snatch some of them and increase our votes. “Don’t forget too that South-East demography that supported him, once it’s Atiku, they will pull out. They will not support him. “The pastors cannot come out campaigning for an 80-year-old Muslim president. They will not do that. So they will lose that demography.” https://dailypost.ng/2025/08/04/atiku-obi-ticket-pastors-wont-campaign-for-80-year-old-muslim-president-in-2027-keyamo/ |

Politics › ₦712 Billion Lagos Airport Upgrade Misplaced Priority — ADC by Ofunaofu(op): 8:54pm On Aug 03, 2025 |
The African Democratic Congress has criticised the Bola Tinubu-led administration over its plan to spend more than ₦712 billion on renovating the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the expenditure as extravagant and a misplaced priority.
PUNCH Online reports that Tinubu, at Monday’s Federal Executive Council meeting, approved ₦712.3 billion for the upgrade of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, under the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Management, Festus Keyamo, announced the approval after the Federal Executive Council meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
Keyamo said this will be the first major rehabilitation of the airport’s old terminal since its construction.
In its reaction, the ADC questioned whether the renovation project and its cost were approved by the National Assembly, labelling the spending as reckless and insensitive.
The party stated, “The African Democratic Congress strongly condemns the outrageous ₦712 billion airport renovation project announced by the Tinubu administration as another brazen act of fiscal recklessness and official insensitivity, which further confirms how far this APC government is removed from the reality of the suffering people of Nigeria.
“It is hard to understand how expending ₦712 billion into renovating an airport that already received significant upgrades in recent years makes fiscal sense in a country where public universities wallow in chronic austerity, where basic medical care, has become a luxury that only the rich can afford, where millions of Nigerians have been thrown into poverty as a result of government’s ill-conceived policies. The Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos remains functional and serviceable.
“What the aviation sector needs is not another gold-plated terminal, but proper maintenance, enhanced efficiency and the expansion of regional airports to boost real connectivity across Nigeria. Just for context, the amount of money that is being funnelled into the renovation of one airport, approximately $500 million, is the same total amount that was spent to build four new airports in Abuja, Lagos, Kano and Port Harcourt in 2014 via a Chinese loan that is yet to be repaid. “This same Murtala Muhammed Airport had a new international terminal that was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari in March 2022. According to media reports at the time, the said facility was built on a landmass of approximately 56,000 square metres, with 66 check-in counters and had the capacity to process 14 million passengers annually.”
The party noted that the airport is reportedly fitted with a censored conveyor belt, seven jet bridges, ten advanced cooling systems, heat extraction units in the baggage hall, spacious duty-free areas and banks, children’s recreational zones, and a 22-room hotel for stopovers, among other features.
The ADC stressed that while the facility was originally built to handle 14 million passengers annually, available data shows it only processed 6.5 million passengers in 2024, less than half of its capacity.
It continued, “We therefore wonder if it is this same airport that is now scheduled for renovation or another one. The inescapable conclusion is either that the previous APC government had lied to Nigerians about what it did with the Lagos Airport, or the current government is about to spend such a huge amount of money on a project that already exists.
“Perhaps even more troubling is the fact that this massive expenditure—approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on July 31, 2025—has not received any backing from the National Assembly, and it is not in any of the approved budgets. Is this now how the government spends close to a trillion naira—without appropriation, without scrutiny, and without the consent of the Nigerian people through their elected representatives?
“We demand to know: under what constitutional provision is this money being spent? How did we get here, that the government of Nigeria, even in the face of extant accountability laws, is able to approve expenditure of this magnitude with no public breakdown of costs, no transparent procurement process, and no national debate? Many.
“Let us be clear, ₦712 billion could instead deliver transformative impact by building over seven fully equipped teaching hospitals, funding free basic education across three geopolitical zones for five years, providing rural electrification to thousands of communities, or rehabilitating thousands of kilometres of federal roads and bridges.
“The ADC calls on all Nigerians to reject this frivolous project. We therefore demand its immediate suspension, a full independent audit of the proposed budget, and a redirection of funds toward projects that would directly improve the lives of ordinary citizens, which should be the priority of any government.”
The party warned that reckless spending amid hunger, hardship, and insecurity would widen the trust gap between the government and the people, especially when it struggles to justify its borrowing https://punchng.com/n712bn-lagos-airport-upgrade-misplaced-priority-adc/

Btw, would you people have condemned Bago if he was in LP? That's the difference with our politics. We are sensitive with issues You don’t need to be a politician to understand the basics of consistency and principle. The point isn’t whether ADC, LP, or APC members are saints. it’s about condemning authoritarian actions regardless of who’s doing them. If ADC politicians are calling out the same behavior they’d be guilty of, that’s hypocrisy and it should be called out. But if they’re right on the issue at hand, their party affiliation doesn’t suddenly make the criticism invalid.
