...... while insecurity, poverty ravage Nigeria: According to the ADC, from Benue to Zamfara and other parts of the country, taxes are being imposed by bandits on citizens. The Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned President Bola Tinubu for wasting funds junketing around the world, while insecurity and hunger ravage the country. In a statement by its spokesperson, Bola Abdullahi, on Thursday, the opposition party lamented Mr Tinubu’s latest foreign trip, adding that the president has so far spent about 181 days abroad. “Today, President Tinubu will depart Abuja for yet another foreign tour. By public records, this will be the President’s 40th foreign trip since assuming office, spending a cumulative total of around 181 days abroad, the equivalent of almost six full months. This means that in the 26 months he has been President, nearly 25% of his time has been spent outside the country,” the ADC said. The ADC condemned Mr Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips, saying, “considering that there are no real economic gains for the junkets despite the billions of naira spent per day and per trip. Set against the growing insecurity that claims the lives of an average 30 Nigerian each day, and widespread poverty that have left majority of citizens in misery, this frequent flier presidency stands in stark contrast and as a testament to a government that no longer cares what the people think or feel.” According to the ADC, from Benue to Zamfara and other parts of the country, taxes are being imposed by bandits, citizens are being slaughtered in their homes, millions are facing economic hardship, and the population of malnourished children has continued to grow. The opposition party raised questions about Mr Tinubu’s trip abroad amid rumours of ill health, adding, “Nigeria deserves a President who is present. While millions of our citizens are suffering, our leaders cannot afford to treat governance like a part-time job.” “Rumour of a sick president, or even mere conversations that could raise doubts about the state of the President’s health are potentially damaging to the economy, could discourage potential investors, further embolden our enemies,” the ADC said https://gazettengr.com/junketing-tinubu-spent-181-days-abroad-wasting-funds-on-tourism-while-insecurity-poverty-ravage-nigeria-adc/?tztc=1 |

yarimo:Desperation is when those who claim to understand the presidency grab, snatch power and, in less than two years, turn a struggling nation into a suffering one... dishing out hunger, strife, and hopelessness like it’s official policy. We’ve seen what your dlórd has produced: hardship, economic collapse, and a free-falling naira. So if this is what “knowing everything about the presidency” looks like, maybe it’s time we gave a chance to those who supposedly know nothing. They couldn't possibly do worse. |

Softmirror:If a word is enough for the wise, maybe you shouldn't have made your first sentence before proving just how allergic some people are to facts. Resorting to DSS threats instead of accepting the truth says it all |
Softmirror:But they are statements of fact that Tinubu himself hasn't debunked, so why the threats with the DSS? |
SatoshiX:They also know that this same Daniel Bwala told us that even if you give Tinubu 30 years, nothing will work.

Tinubu has come to embody a leadership style marked by incompetence and alarming disregard for national responsibility |
TimeManager:Smh! The $60 billion "done and dusted" imaginary rail project announced in press releases, visible only in PowerPoint slides and propaganda threads. We’ve heard this story before: “legacy projects,” “record-breaking FDI,” “most powerful President in Africa.” Yet, Nigerians still face blackout, food inflation, insecurity, and a naira that has become the worst performing currency in the world. Funny how every trip turns into a historic investment magnet, but the reality back home keeps spiraling. If propaganda could power railways, we'd have bullet trains already. And about Tinubu not responding to tantrums, maybe silence is golden when there are no answers. Dignity isn’t shown by dodging accountability; it’s earned by delivering results, not international photo ops Respectfully, we want receipts, not rehearsed praise Nairaland threads. Until we see real infrastructure, stable power, reduced hunger, working hospitals, good roads and employment opportunities. kindly save the chest-beating for when there's actually something to beat it about. |
I only came to see if he would mention Peter Obi and truly, I wasn't disappointed. Peter Obi lives rent-free in Reno Omokri's medulla oblongata. The man is having serious nightmares. |
The political tussle between both political heavyweights continues to heat up, as the race for the senatorial seat in 2027 draws near. Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Monday, caved in to pressure against his alleged move to demolish the properties belonging to his predecessor and Ogun East Senator, Gbenga Daniel. Peoples Gazette had on Monday visited Mr Daniel’s private residence, The Asoludero Court, Conference Hotels Limited and its annexe, and noticed two notices, one for contravention and the other to quit, both dated August 8, 2025, pasted allegedly without attempting to communicate with residents in the buildings. Later on Monday, it was also gathered that officials from the urban and physical planning, after citing a crowd at the buildings from the estate gate, waited for them to disperse before coming to remove both notices and replace them with “NOTICE OF DEMOLITION” and “NOTICE OF SEALING”, both dated August 11, 2025, which they still returned hours later to remove. However, despite the pasted and later removed demolition and sealing notices already captured by residents and the media present, the commissioner, Tunji Odunlami, at a news conference at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta, on Monday, said he is unaware of the sealing of Mr Daniel’s properties, explaining that what was pasted was only a stop and quit notice. Mr Odunlami said, “What we are doing now is no exception. This exercise was done in Abeokuta and is now extended to Shagamu and Ijebu-Ode. All building owners served with the notice simply need to visit the issuing office with their permits and documents for verification. As we speak, Senator Gbenga Daniel has yet to do so or make any representation to that effect. The goal is not to victimise anyone who obeys the law.” Stating that the exercise would soon be extended to Government Reserved Areas in Ota and Ilaro, the commissioner stated that his ministry followed procedure, explaining that before sealing, a property is physically marked and a sticker or cross-sign indicating sealing is pasted on it. Mr Daniel is, however, not leaving any stone unturned,as The Gazette observed on Monday night, military presence patrolling Mr Daniel’s residence and hotels to secure his properties while youths said to be from the area have been keeping vigil at the premises of the properties since the governor announced the demolition notice. Spokesperson to the senator, Steve Oliyide, told The Gazette that, “the soldiers are around from 8:00 a.m. till in the evening, while members of the Oodua Peoples Congress will take over through the night.” The political tussle between both political heavyweights, hailing from the same senatorial zone, continues to heat up, as the race for the senatorial seat in 2027, which both politicians have also indicated interest in, draws near https://gazettengr.com/dapo-abiodun-folds-as-gbenga-daniel-flexes-superior-muscle-in-demolition-row/ |
9jatriot:Yes, he wanted equal treatment not selective treatment based on who’s close to Tinubu. That’s the difference between a leader who stands for justice and one who thrives on impunity. |
Watianoengineer:Why do you people always twist facts just to push a tribal or political agenda? Peter Obi never took sides with anyone based on ethnicity, that’s a dishonest and misleading claim and you obviously know it. What he actually did was question the glaring double standard in how justice is applied in Nigeria. The young lady was swiftly charged and remanded in Kirikiri prison over an issue on board a flight. But when KWAM 1, a prominent figure and known ally of Tinubu, risked the safety of an entire flight, there was no arrest, no arraignment, and certainly no prison. Even the Minister of Aviation admitted that what KWAM 1 did could be considered an act of terrorism in some countries. Yet, the system looked the other way. Obi simply asked a fair question: Why is one person immediately punished while another is treated like they’re above the law for an equally, if not more serious, offense? If that bothers you, maybe you’re uncomfortable with leaders who demand equal accountability not selective justice based on who you know or where you're from. This is exactly why many Nigerians support Peter Obi he speaks truth to power, and stands against injustice, regardless of who is involved. That’s leadership, not tribalism. |
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced that Ibom Air has withdrawn its case against Comfort Emmanson, paving the way for her release from detention. Keyamo also disclosed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) will cut the one-year flight ban placed on Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as KWAM 1, to one month. The decision follows consultations with key stakeholders in the aviation sector over recent incidents involving unruly behaviour at airports. In a statement on Wednesday, the minister said the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) had agreed to lift the lifetime flying ban earlier imposed on Emmanson, while the NCAA will restore the licenses of pilots involved in the KWAM 1 case after they complete a month-long suspension and mandatory professional reappraisal. According to Keyamo, Emmanson, who was arrested after an incident aboard an Ibom Air flight on August 10, 2025, showed “great remorse” during police questioning in the presence of her lawyer. He said the withdrawal of Ibom Air’s complaint would allow the police to complete the process for her release from Kirikiri Prison this week. It partly reads: “Subsequent to the withdrawal of the complaint by the Complainant, the CP of Airport Command and the Police Prosecutor will immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week. “I have also conferred with the leadership of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and have appealed to them to lift the life-time flying ban imposed on her, to which they agreed. The details of the resolution will be made public by the AON subsequently.” On KWAM 1’s case, the minister said the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would work with the musician to promote airport security awareness. The NCAA has also agreed to withdraw its criminal complaint against him. “In the case of KWAM 1, the NCAA is to reduce his flight ban to a one-month period. FAAN will also work with the music star with a view to engaging him as an ambassador for proper airport security protocol going forward,” the statement reads. “Having publicly demonstrated penitence, the NCAA is also to withdraw its criminal complaints against KWAM 1 earlier lodged with the Police. “In the case of Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, First Officer Ivan Oloba of VALUEJET, the NCAA is to restore their licenses after the same period of one-month ban after undergoing some mandatory professional re-appraisal. The details will be announced by the NCAA.” Keyamo stressed that both passengers and airline staff bore responsibility for the incidents. “It is clear that all the actors involved cannot continue to highlight the injury or injustice done to them without acknowledging their own equal culpability.” The minister added that aviation and complementary security agencies would hold a retreat next week to train personnel on de-escalating conflicts with disruptive passengers, while airlines would review staff conduct towards travellers. “These decisions were taken on compassionate grounds. We take safety and security in the aviation sector very seriously and have decided to draw a line after these clemencies,” Keyamo added. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2025/08/just-in-fg-orders-withdrawal-of-case-against-ibom-air-passenger-reduces-kwam-1s-ban/ |
Is Soludo implying that his party, APGA, won't field a presidential candidate in 2027? Why is he endorsing Tinubu? Isn't this anti-party? Is this a sign of desperation to win a second term? |
goslowgoslow:First off, Tinubu is the President of Nigeria. His policies, actions, and inactions affect every single Nigerian every day. So yes, mentioning him when discussing national issues is not just relevant; it’s necessary. You can’t talk about Nigeria’s problems and pretend the man at the helm isn’t part of the conversation. Second, your quickness to deflect by blaming others for “dragging Peter Obi” only shows how obsessed you both actually are. If Obi is irrelevant to you, why lose sleep over him? Nigerians see through that clearly. Also, Abike Dabiri’s criticism of Obi or the crimes committed by people from Anambra is no free pass for Tinubu’s international scandals or his failure to tackle crime and drug trafficking effectively. Both deserve scrutiny. Hypocrisy is pointing fingers at one while ignoring the other. Nigerians are wide awake to that. And seriously, are criminals only in Anambra State? We have criminals everywhere. So why single out Anambra just because Peter Obi is from there? Especially when the current governor, Soludo, is reportedly Tinubu’s friend for over two decades and recently endorsed Tinubu for a second term, why isn’t he being mentioned? Why focus on Obi, who currently holds no political office and is just a private citizen? Finally, if we’re talking principles, maybe Tinubu should explain why serious allegations and scandals keep following his personal life and administration without proper accountability. Leadership means owning up, not shifting blame or denying obvious facts. Tinubu is president, his record matters, and no amount of distractions will change that Fact |
Appletek:"You go cry taya”? You already are. Your hypocrisy is louder than your logic. You’re frothing over Abike because any valid criticism of incompetence threatens your worship of Tinubu. You’re dragging a former Minister of Foreign Affairs because he’s Igbo, not because you care about results meanwhile, I bet you don’t even know who the current Minister of Foreign Affairs is. Why? Because it doesn’t serve your jauñdiced hypocrisy and bîgótry. Funny how the current Minister of State for Foreign Affairs is also Igbo, but suddenly that’s irrelevant because Tinubu is in power now, and you only “see tribe” when it fits your bias. Keep crying. We’ll keep calling out incompetence regardless of tribe. Something your selective outrage can’t handle. |
Appletek:So because Abike Dabiri did her job, a job she is paid with taxpayer money to do that suddenly makes her above criticism? Rescuing Nigerians abroad, including Igbos, doesn’t erase her documented history of tribalistic remarks. You don’t get to weaponize humanitarian gestures as a shield for bigotry. Abike Dabiri is a public official, not a volunteer. Her salary comes from the same public purse funded by the very Igbos she routinely disrespects. Doing her job doesn’t mean she’s doing anyone a favor, it's literally what she’s paid to do. Dragging Onyema, Seun, or Soyinka into this only proves the point: the expectation that Igbos must grovel for basic decency from public officials is insulting. Public service isn't charity it's accountability. Let’s stop this |
Themanleshey:Because they aren't lies. They are facts. |
seunmsg:seunsmg, calling Peter Obi a “liar in chief” is just another desperate attempt to distract from the real issues at hand. If you’re so confident in your claims, where’s the proof beyond recycled social media gossip and baseless accusations? Everyone makes mistakes, what matters is accountability and transparency. Instead of obsessing over unproven “fake WhatsApp groups” or old rumors, why not focus on the serious questions Tinubu that he can’t seem to answer? Threatening legal action doesn’t make someone a liar; it shows they’re willing to defend themselves against defamation. Maybe take a page from that book instead of throwing around insults with zero substance. If you really want to talk about lies, start with the international ongoing scandals, fake identity, certificate forgery, drug dealings broken promises, and lack of accountability from the man currently running the country. Until then, spare us the tired, baseless smears and engage with facts. |

seunmsg:seunsmg, are you saying Peter Obi personally orchestrates every single tweet from his aides and allies? So, just because someone is close to Peter Obi doesn’t mean every opinion or criticism they express is a “calculated smear campaign.” People have their own voices and reasons, and dismissing everything as a political conspiracy only exposes your desperation to silence valid dissent. if you’re really worried about lies and propaganda, maybe start with your own camp’s questionable narratives instead of projecting your insecurities onto others. Building a better Nigeria means engaging with facts and open dialogue, not resorting to tribalism and unfounded accusations. Lastly, using Twitter gossip to defend a president who is supposed to unite the country? That’s the exact opposite of leadership. Maybe try addressing real issues instead of playing cheap political games. Are we really going to let Twitter threads dictate the political discourse of Nigeria? Come on, let’s raise the bar. |
Softmirror:It’s honestly wild how you people can’t breathe without dragging Peter Obi into unrelated conversations. Mention Abike Dabiri’s bigotry, you scream Obi. Talk about Tinubu’s failures, you hallucinate about Anambra. It’s giving obsession. You claim Obi is irrelevant, yet you’re clearly having full-blown nightmares about him. And let’s be real if you're genuinely concerned about crime and drug trafficking, start by asking your Tinubu to explain his own international entanglements and well-documented scandals. Your hypocrisy is loud, and Nigerians are wide awake. |
