APC members never tried to stop the inspection. They got Intel that obaseki was planning to send people to attack inec office and they simply went there to keep vigil...don't say what you don't know...even your LP has removed themselves
INEC said that to you alone

Aba Branch is the name of a popular motor park in Ehime Mbano in Imo State. These ne'er-do-wells have sworn to turn Imo State into a battlefield for their SENSELESS Biafra secession. No gainfully employed young person takes up arm to fight for or join this SENSELESS struggle.
Why must you associate every clash some armed men have with security agencies in the south east with Biafra agitation?

Do you associate every armed attack in your area with secession or agitation?

Some years ago, it used to be an armed robbery attack. The news then used to be that armed robbers attacked security agents. But now, any armed attack in the southeast is associated with Biafra agitation.

Are there no armed robbers, armed cultists in the south east?

Ironsi already abrogated the resources of all the regions to the centre, thereby ending the regional autonomy. It is called unification decree for a reason. Gowon acted on what was on ground already.

"It was the decree that started the death of regionalism....General Gowon further compounded it by promulgating the Decree 14 of 1967 which broke Nigeria into 12 states and provided military governors for each state. With decrees 34, 8 and 14 regionalism was finally buried"

https://guardian.ng/opinion/history-and-the-future-of-decree-34-of-1966/

So, trying to pander to the feelings of your host or so is dishonest. When you have taken all the resources to the centre, what remains?

Aguiyi Ironsi abolished regionalism and resource control...Gowon, out of necessity due to Ojukwu's rebellion, further buried it by breaking it up into 12 states.

Why did they refuse initially, and why did APC, their thugs, and their hoodlums storm the INEC office in an effort to ensure that INEC didn't allow PDP to inspect election materials, which is against an order of the tribunal?

Why didn't you tell your APC and INEC to obey court order?

APC won clean and clearly indeed.

APC won clean and clearly, but they hired thugs and hoodlums in collaboration with security agencies and INEC to frustrate PDP from inspecting election materials after the tribunal gave an order to INEC to allow PDP to inspect the materials used for the election.

Besides, we didn't hear the APC telling INEC to obey the order from the tribunal to allow PDP to inspect election materials; rather, they collaborated with INEC to go against the order of the tribunal.

PoliticsRivers Crisis: Go To Court, Fubara Our Hero – PDP Carpets Wike by Ofunaofu(op): 6:50am On Oct 09, 2024
Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lashed out at the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike over his recent outbursts on the just concluded local government election in the state.

DAILY POST reports that Wike had in an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday expressed resentment on the move by the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara to conduct the Saturday election despite a court judgement.

Recall that Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja had in a judgement declared that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, violated requisite provisions by not publishing the mandatory 90 days notice before fixing the date for the election.

The court barred the Independent National Electoral Commission from releasing the voter register to RSIEC for the conduct of the election.

Justice Lifu also barred the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Service, DSS, from providing security for the polls.

The judgment followed the suit brought before the judge by the state chapter of APC, faulting RSIEC’s move to fix October 5 for the polls.

But the election was held on Saturday as directed by Governor Fubara.

The governor’s loyalists who contested the chairmanship positions under the platform of the Action Peoples Party, APP, won in 22 out of the 23 LGAs in the state.

The state has recorded a series of violent clashes between supporters of Wike and Fubara during and after the poll.

On Monday, arsonists alleged to be Wike’s supporters set the Ikwerre Local Government secretariat ablaze.

There were gunshots in some other secretariats following moves by some political thugs to prevent the newly elected council bosses from gaining access to their offices.

Wike, in his first public reaction to the controversies, accused Fubara of derailing Nigerian democracy by refusing to obey the court judgement.

The former governor also alleged that Fubara’s move to remove the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Amaewhule triggered the unending crisis.

However, in a swift response, PDP in the state urged the Minister and his supporters to seek redress in court if they were not okay with the election.

In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST, Sydney Gbara, the PDP publicity secretary in Rivers State wondered why those who were eagerly agitating for the election were now against it.

He said, “We are aware that no court judgement can stop an electoral process. What we know is that if you are not okay with an election, you can approach the court after it is conducted. So they should go to court.

“Let me take Nigerians back, conducting the local government election was one of the items on the presidential peace proclamation made by President Bola Tinubu in 2023. They (Wike and his supporters) have been willing to see the election conducted.

“At one point they even instructed the assembly that if Fubara refuses to conduct the election, he should be impeached. It is now surprising that when the RSIEC drew out the timetable for the election, they are now doing everything possible to stop it.

“This is where the conversation should start from and not whether there was a court judgement or not.

“In fact, it got to a point where the assembly elongated the tenure of the previous LG Chairmen and that was the first of its kind in the history of Nigerian democracy. Now the governor said he is ready for the election and the same people are now speaking from the other side of their mouths, saying the election should not be held.

“Where has Governor Fubara gone wrong? The Supreme Court has given judgement prohibiting caretaker committees and said every state should have elected LG Chairmen and they have a time frame of 90 days or else the state will not get allocation.

“Governor Fubara is just being obedient to the Supreme Court judgment. Anyone who wants to truncate the process does not mean well for Rivers people.”

Sydney Gbara described Fubara as a hero, stressing that “he will continue to be our hero for standing firm to ensure that democracy stands in Rivers State.

“Innocent people were killed in cold blood all in a bid to frustrate the electoral process. The truth is that they came late because Rivers People have decided to move on with Fubara.”

Wike is now saying that he resorted to taking laws into his hands by engaging in wanton destruction of lives and properties because, according to him, Fubara didn't obey court order.

Which court order is he referring to, if I may ask?

Tinubu, on the other hand, allows an individual who took laws into his hands by engaging in wanton destruction of lives and properties to sit at the executive council meeting.

PoliticsRivers Crisis: Wike Threatening Democracy In Nigeria – Chijioke Ihunwo by Ofunaofu(op): 11:52am On Oct 08, 2024
....Chairman Obio/Akpo LG

Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo, the Executive Chairman of Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State, has alleged that Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT, is threatening democracy in Nigeria.

Ihunwo made the allegation on Tuesday while speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show programme.

The statement comes amidst ongoing political crisis in Rivers State following the last Saturday’s local government election.

DAILY POST reported that a section of the Eleme local government secretariat was set on fire shortly after the arrival of newly-elected chairman Brian Gokpa.

Speaking about the crisis on Tuesday, Ihunwo said: “We want to tell Nigerians that nobody can destroy our Local Government. The local government has always been there even before the Minister of the FCT came in to become a chairman.

“So, sponsoring people to start shooting here and there across the local governments is laughable. And Wike is threatening democracy in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu.

“I want to tell Nigerians that everyone in Rivers State is fine. We assure our people to go about their duty. Two people can’t be mad at the same time. What’s happening in Rivers is more or less laughable.

“We know that what goes around, comes around. Wike did the same to Rotimi Amaechi. Today, Rivers people did the same to him because he has refused to leave Rivers State alone. He wants Rivers State to be his private industry and want put us in his pocket, and we said no.”

Nigeria's problem is very big, these marketers are actually the ones killing the country.
If Obi hadn't read it's ugly head by causing big distraction in the last presidential election we won't be where we are today.

If you all want to remove asiwaju let a strong northerner come out and Obi should deputize him, that's the only out else asiwaju remains your president for eight years.
How did Peter Obi's entrance into the presidential race cause a big distraction?

I thought most of you here said he wouldn't be able to garner some votes. Even claimed that Sowore would garner more votes than him.

Some even said that the noise around his presidential ambition can be likened to Andrew's liver salt; it was going to fizzle out before the election.

Suddenly, today, you are accusing him of causing distractions.
