What Trump had effectively done by Killing Soleimani is that he has established that in this war of attrition between nations killing foreign diplomats is a fair game.

If there is a possible retaliation as threatened, it might likely be targeted at U.S. bases in Iraq. It even happened a few hours after the death of Quassem. 5 people were said to be injured. Think about it, what is Iraq fast become?

I'm not sure Iraq asking the U.S. to leave was an easy decision for them in the first place owing the ISIS battle the U.S. had just won but weighing their options and seeing the loss of their own military officer caught in the cross fire of the death of Quassem Seleimani, they began to have a rethink.
