Education › Re: National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN) Students by ogawisdom(m): 1:30pm On Aug 29, 2017 |
ayungmony15: *7 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT NOUN, NIGERIA'S POPULAR ONLINE UNIVERSITY*
The National Open University of Nigeria is a Federal Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, the first of its kind in the West African sub-region. It is Nigeria's largest tertiary institution in terms of student numbers and is popularly referred to as *'NOUN'*
1. ESTABLISHMENT
NOUN was initially established on July 22, 1983 as springboard for open and distance learning in Nigeria. It was suspended by the government on April 25, 1984. It was brought back on April 12, 2001 by the former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo. Student enrollment stood at 32,400.
2. VICE CHANCELLOR AND ORGANIZATION
In 2011, NOUN had about 57,759 students. The Vice Chancellor is Prof. Abdallah Uba Adamu. The National Open University of Nigeria operates from its Administrative Headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, with Study Centres throughout the country. It offers over 50 programmes and 750 courses.
3. DIFFERENCE FROM CONVENTIONAL UNIVERSITY
NOUN does not provide lectures to students in normal classrooms except some certain study centres. It has a study centre in Lagos for instance provides lectures to all its Law undergraduates and supplies necessary course materials to all students after the payment of tuition fees. All courses offered have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
4. REQUIREMENTS
For most courses in NOUN, there are no stringent entry requirements other than the ability to study at an appropriate level such as the West African Examination, and other National Diplomas to qualify for a Direct entry admission. Though most postgraduate courses require evidence of previous study and/or equivalent life experience.
5. IMMUNITY TO STRIKES
The university is prohibited from joining any form of union either within staff or students. This has made the NOUN to be unaffected by strikes such as the ASUU strike which is currently ongoing.
6. NYSC NOUN has also made the necessary efforts to ensure its graduates below age 30 participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and their Law graduates proceed to the Nigerian Law School and they have succeeded.
7. EXAMINATION SYSTEM
The university administers the Computer-Based-Test (CBT) form of examination to its students in their first and second years. However, Law undergraduates participate in the standard Pen-On-Paper examinations (POP) beginning from their first year of admission, with LAW111-Legal Methods in First Semester of the first year. Other undergraduates also participate in the CBT system of examination in their first and second years and commence the POP examinations from their third year till the end of their respective course duration. The POP examination system applies to Post Graduate students also. pls i am interested in studying law at the university with a science based degree at the bolded have NOUN successfully mobilized any law graduate to law school so far? i heard their law graduates are not allowed to go to law school. thanks |

There are better ways to handle things like this than using force to eject ppl out of their source of livelihood.
While the Governor reserves the right to relocate the market out of the city center but 48 hrs notice is evil he shld have given them 12 months notice. Times are hard and relocation of business is not easy it can lead to the death of the business if not properly done
RIP to the dead |

Very few of them make SAN from practice except through academics, good luck to him. Go to court na 2.2 n 3rd class lawyers get practice real litigation practice. 2.1 n first class are mostly company lawyers |

Do you know that many masturbates and satisfy themself rather than fornicating.
Use masturbation to prevent hiv Use masturbation to prevent fornication Use masturbation to prevent rape Use masturbation to prevent adultery
So my fellow nairalanders could these points be true
But many condemn the act of masturbation With masturbation chronic erectile dysfunction is waiting for u in marriage |
