Recently, i read a post on here, where a guy needed advice on whether or not to marry his girlfriend even though the lady nags, insults him and isn't submissive. He said his mum met the lady and told him not to marry her but he claims to love the girl and wants to marry her.

I commented and shared a bit of my late brothers story and advised him to take his mothers advice because women are detailed and intuitive in nature. Women can smell trouble 5 miles afar.

My mum was also against my brothers marriage to his wife, but he insisted and ended up dying instead.

Submission here does not mean submission to him being Lord and master but rather, that he coordinates, as far their marriage is concerned. It is not submission to his whims and caprices or inordinate demands which can all get muddled up in the idea of submission in marriage

The headship in marriage is in reference to the head in a living organism, not the head, like a king, in a kingdom. The head in an organism is the coordinating center hence all other parts submit to its coordinating role

This is not to condemn you or whatever has been working for you but to correct the notion that others might pick from it that the husband is the master of the wife or that hitting your wife, for whatever reason, is at anytime ok.

For those who are Christians, the scriptures never indicated it was ok to beat your wife in order to correct her or that the man is master. It only referenced that the man is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the Church: not in reference to the context of Christ being Lord and King of all, rather in the context of Christ being the head and Church the body - same goes for marriage

Listen to your mother and take her advice very serious. My eldest brother brought a woman to the family that he said he loves and wants to marry, that was in 2002. Infact she was already six moths gone with a baby. My mum (just like your mum) fought and said NO to the marriage. But las las she left them cause of the pregnancy. Even after they got married and the said lady put to birth, they kept having issues, quarrels, name-callings, abuse, etc.

Six years later, 2008, he died of cardiac arrest! Two weeks or so before his death, they had an argument where i heard his wife telling him how so so and so was better than him.

Your girlfriend can deceive everybody in your family with pretense, except your mother. Mothers are detailed and intuitive in nature. They can see things others can't see.

now my advice to you,

if God has left in a position to help do help them but[b] don't displease your self in the process, [/b]don't be stupid and neglect your own needs and responsibility because of them.
find a particular amount that wont affect your budget and pay to them every month end after you have received your salary if you are a salary earner or after you have done your account at the end of the month if you are self employed and after that give a deaf ear to every other pleas from them until the next month end of course its gonna be hard but you have to learn how to say NO AND MAINTAIN IT . this will help them manage and budget every funds they receive and even make them have a rethink about how they spend cash and also lessen your burden

I was in this your mess for 9 years. Every Family member called me for school fees and feeding money.

My wife could not understand why i have chosen to bear the burden of everyone.

I couldn't do major investments i needed to do. Sometimes delayed paying salaries of my staff.

2015. i went home and visited all my uncles, told them to choose a business they can do and i will settle them with it. on the condition that they do not call me for money again. My wife suggested that. Made sure their wives were in agreement with what their husbands have agreed. in fact, my eldest uncle said the wife will run the business.

They were excited about it but never knew i will get them to sign that i won't be contacted for money after i settle them. Got one of my cousins to run the project. i never gave the money to any of them because they will tell me stories that touch.

When the shops were paid for and well stocked, i went back and called a meeting. they all got to know that their requests have been granted.

what i wanted to achieve was desire to succeed among them. Again, didn't want anyone to think i was giving money to A and not to B.

Setting up those businesses for them cost me millions but was a life saver for me.

Nobody disturbs me for money anymore. My own business is free from unnecessary stress.

I wanted them to know that making money is not easy. The lesson is well served.
