PoliticsRe: Privatisation Of PHCN A Fraud, Electricity Workers Tell Buhari by ogene007: 12:34pm On May 10, 2015
So is Ajaero asking for the reversal of the privatization exercise that he vehemently opposed so that we can go back to the evil days of NEPA? This is the most self serving comment that we have seen for a long time. Ajaero represents nothing other than the interest of the cabal in the power sector, who have been sabotaging the efforts of government in making that sector efficient. His criminal kith and kin are the ones sabotaging the gas pipelines while people like him run their media propaganda for them.
One is not saying that the privatization process will solve all the power problems overnight, but every right thinking person knows that it is a necessary first step in getting the power sector to where we want it to be. The likes of Ajaero should quickly come to terms with the fact that the privatization of the DISCOs and GENCOs has come to stay, with that of the TCN to follow in no distant time.

Stop being clownish and moronic because even the British colonial masters know that the Hausa/Fulani remain the most unintelligent and backward set of people in Africa, hence the amount of poverty and hardship around their environment. That is why they are so desperate to control the resources of the oil rich niger delta. People like you will live long to see how foolish your statement is. Kirikiri and other prisons would have been over crowded with APC chieftains who helped to rig elections for the party, before the likes of Wike and co., this is because GMB does not have the power under a constitutional democracy, to be throwing people into Kirikiri based on his whims and caprices. The earlier people like you start getting realistic in your over bloated expectations on GMB, the better for your blood pressure when you realize that GMB is really not going to be able to fulfil all those fake campaign promises.

There can never be any selective overturning of the results of the last elections, unless we are saying that Nigeria is tired of the third republic, and would want to do away with it. Any attempt to overturn the rivers state elections will lead to an end to this third republic because INEC cannot tell us that elections were free and fair in the states that APC won, while flawed in the the states that PDP won. APC had better not provoke crisis that will put an end to the third republic because they would be the biggest losers.

INEC should also publish what the card reader recorded in Lagos, Imo, Ogunleye, Kano, kaduna, katsina and all the other states where APC were declared winners in both the presidential and governorship elections, then we will take this news serious. Based on the INEC template deployed in all the states where the APC won both the presidential and governorship elections, Wike won the elections in rivers state clear and square. It is the APC that should be worried over the dubious victory they recorded in the last elections.

PoliticsRe: Buhari May Consider Amnesty For Corrupt Politicians – Fayemi by ogene007: 10:47am On Apr 29, 2015
Firefire:
The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, may consider granting amnesty to corrupt politicians who are ready to return stolen funds.

He, however, said Buhari’s promise to extend hands of friendship across the political divide in his acceptance speech shortly after winning the poll, does not mean that he would not prosecute corrupt government officials who served in the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Fayemi said this during a programme on BBC titled, HardTalk, which was monitored by our correspondent on Monday.

He said although the All Progressives Congress government would bring all corrupt government officials to book, amnesty may be considered as “a form of incentive” for corrupt persons who voluntarily come out to return stolen funds.

He said the APC government would use all means to ensure that justice and fairness were established.

He said, “Corruption is not going to be dealt with by punishment alone. It is also going to be dealt with by incentives to those who are prepared to have a conversion. If you come voluntarily and say, look, I have stolen some money and I am prepared to return the money, Gen. Buhari would not say no to that.”

Asked whether granting amnesty to those who are willing to return stolen funds was not a breach of criminal laws and justice, Fayemi added another condition, “if our processes and procedure are dealt with, we will definitely look at that.”

The former governor added, “Returning the funds is a form of justice to Nigeria because those funds will now be available for the teeming population. There would be a range of options for dealing with corruption but that does not mean that justice will not take its full course.

“Buhari said he would not interfere with the judicial process and that if anyone is found guilty of malfeasance or corruption then that the law would take its course. Buhari didn’t mention any individual but anyone who is found guilty or who behaved badly in terms of corruption would be brought to face the law.”

http://www.punchng.com/politics/buhari-may-consider-amnesty-for-corrupt-politicians-fayemi/
If Buhari and the APC are serious about fighting corruption, then they should ask their members in the present national assembly to quickly pass the asset forfeiture bill that has been gathering dust there for many years. Anything other than that is sheer noise making, and nigerians would simply be set for 'same of the same' in terms of the fight against corruption.

Honestly ,the General is too gentle... AIT is a disgrace to proper journalism.
Any way their fvck up will be properly treated after May 29 2015.
People like you should understand that there are legal checks and balances within the constitution from where GMB will derive the constitutional power to preside over the affairs of Nigeria as from May 29. Kindly avail yourself of the necessary legal education before coming here to advertise your ignorance. The highest thing your GMB can do to AIT is to sue them to court, anything more than that will result in disastrous consequences for both GMB and his party. Under a constitutional democracy, the media who are rightly described as the 4th estate of the realm, will ultimately decimate the political class of there ever was to be a war between the two. GMB would do himself a world of good by desisting from embarking on such an ill-advised war.

crownprince102:
It came in the news yesterday that the team of president-elect of the federal republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari bans the African Independent Television (AIT) from covering his engagement until issues of ethics and standards are sorted out.

Today, the APC released a press statement by their national publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Muhammed which states the AIT and other accredited media houses are free to cover the activities of General Muhammadu Buhari.

The earlier news had created some widespread speculations all over the country which led to some Nigerians questioning how democratic the action was. One of the many critics was a nairaland user with the moniker, Barcanista.

I must confess, "Press Freedom" and "Freedom of Speech" is very crucial for the growth of democracy anywhere in the world, infact it is the lifeblood of democracy. Freedom of Information is one of the factors that differenciate "Democracy" from "Autocracy".

As provided by the law, their are limitation to the Freedom of Press.
As a result, freedom of expression is not absolute and can be limited when it conflicts with other rights.
International law declares freedom of expression to be the rule. Limitations are the exception, permitted only to protect:
* the rights or reputations of others
* national security
* public order
* public health
* morals.

The African Independent Television (AIT) with their attacks on General Muhammadu Buhari breached the "Ethics and Standards of Journalism".

Journalism ethics and standards comprise principles of ethics and of good practice as applicable to the specific challenges faced by journalists. Historically and currently, this subset of media ethics is widely known to journalists as their professional " code of ethics" or the "canons of journalism".

These are some of the principles in the "code of ethics" or "canons of journalism" and how the AIT violated them.

Principle of Truthfulness: Truth is most often used to mean being in accord with factor reality or fidelity to an original or to a standard or ideal. The commonly understood opposite of truth is falsehood, which, correspondingly, can also take on a logical, factual, or ethical meaning.
The AIT has violated this principle by broadcasting some hate documentaries against the likes of Buhari, Tinubu and Osinbajo. In Buhari's documentary, some of the false story cooked up there were:
1. Fela NEVER mentioned Buhari in $N2.8B scandal. He mentioned OBJ. AIT edited that part off.
2. Buhari did not expel Ghanians from Nigeria. Shagari of the NPN did. AIT made a FALSE assertion.
3. Gloria Okon did not disappear under Buhari it was under IBB and Dele Giwa was murdered for it.
4. Fela’s mother the GREAT Funmilayo Kuti died after OBJ Kalakuta in 1978 Buhari came into power in 1984.

Principle of Accuracy: Accuracy and precision are defined in terms of systematic and random errors. The more common definition associates accuracy with systematic errors and precision with random errors. Another definition, advanced by ISO, associates trueness with systematic errors and precision with random errors, and defines accuracy as the combination of both trueness and precision.
The AIT lacks accuracy in it hate broadcast against Buhari, the attack against him lack actual facts, some of whic where:
* Buhari did not expel Ghanians from Nigeria. Shagari of the NPN did. AIT made a FALSE assertion.
* Fela’s mother the GREAT Funmilayo Kuti died after OBJ Kalakuta in 1978 Buhari came into power in 1984.
* AIT alleged that Buhari has been losing since 1999. This is a lie. Buhari’s first shot was in 2003. In 1999 Chief Olu Falae of ANPP/AD contested against Obj.

Principle of Impartiality: Impartiality also called evenhandedness or fair-mindedness is a principle of justice holding that decisions should be based on objective criteria, rather than on the basis of bias, prejudice, or preferring the benefit to one person over another for improper reasons.
It was clear to all sane Nigerians that AIT were partial and bias during the presidential campaign. They give out hate speech against the APC and were very friendly towards to ruling party, the PDP.

AIT also violated the principle of fairness by bringing in Buhari's late wife and his daughter into the broadcasted clips. It's an attack to personal liberty which a citizen is entitle to. AIT even went further by disobeying a court injunction which stopped them from broadcasting those documentaries.

AIT also breached the Priciples of Objectivity, Principles of Public accountablity, Principle of societal acceptance and Principle of moral conduct.

I can't really state the constitutional purnishment meant for the violation of this act, but I clearly understand the wise saying which says; "No offender goes unpurnished".
If GMB is aggrieved, he should go to court rather than trying to sneak in decree 4 through the back door. A word is enough for the wise.

I don't know why we are yet to see the core tanoids online to defend this. By now, they shld know how blind they ve been.
This is not an issue of being a TANoid or Buharists, but the fact that the figures involved are mind blowing and the incoming administration will serve the interest of the generality of nigerians in ensuring that proper and thorough investigations are carried out, and those culpable must be made to face the full weight of the law. If only the present national assembly would be patriotic enough to pass the Asset Forfeiture bill, so that it would be very easy for Buhari to recover all these stolen assets scattered all over the place. When this is done, then we the true change agents will give our full support to GMB since he would have shown that he stands with the people.
