dannyla:
I opened a new account to remain anonymous.
This story is a bit long but pls bear with me.

I met this man almost 2yrs ago at an event a friend invited me to. The next week, he collected my number from my friend and called me, we began talking from there and agreed to go on a date. He proposed marriage to me on the first date which I rejected. I told him that I can't marry outside my church and from the little I've heard from him, our life dreams differ. I decided to cut him off from that day and I stayed away for about 3months. Meanwhile he got my friend to introduce him to my sis, mum and another friend who happened to be from his place, I'll call her Grace.
He made them all aware of his intent towards me and my stand and asked for their help to change my mind. Grace became his biggest ally and convinced me to have another date. He asked that we date for a while and see if we can work out our differences. During the date I noticed he has a very hot and quick temper and he listens to gossip a lot so I do tell Gracethat I don't see a future with him but he was too persistent, Grace always had words of encouragement and considering the fact that for some strange reason, it was mainly married men always approach me for a relationship with stories of how they got married to a wrong woman and they are or are almost divorced, dating a single man with no kids was very tempting and I decided to give it a try.

He asked me to tell him everything about me so there are no secrets between us and I did. Starting from secondary school to that day, I told him everything, from my first kiss, the colleague who tried to rape me, my ex who lied about his marital status and disvirgined me etc. he did the same too and I felt a burden roll off my shoulder.

Few days later I began to notice changes in him especially towards my business. I thrive in a male dominated industry in a ratio of 9men to 1woman. He asked me to show him the pictures of my colleagues which I did, he also asked if they make passes at me which I said is almost inevitable but my boundaries are clear and rigid.

Fast forward to now. I noticed that whenever I drop my phone, he goes through it. Facebook, sms, WhatsApp etc. He even picks my call when I'm not close to the phone. He asked me about a certain colleague who cracks dirty jokes like how I rushed to get married (I told him I'm already married). I didn't think much about it.

He later began to complain about my partners and how I'm sleeping with them like the prostitute I am, called me an unrepentant liar, unsubmisive, manipulating etc. Said he regrets asking for my hand at all and he's just waiting forthe day he'll catch me redhanded so he can dump my sorry a*s.
I told him to end it now cus I'm fed up, family came in and I later found out that Grace has been telling a lot of lies against hoping to get him for herself as well as hate filled advises from some aggrieved friends who felt ladies from my tribe are no good and just there to "chop money". Apologies were said and received and we continued.

Another time I visited him and we had an argument, he gave me several heavy knocks on my head and I developed a headache and began to insult him which resultedin more heavy knocks. I broke up with him and left. Later my mum called him to ask why he laid his hands on me, he denied it swearing with his life. Said I insulted him and he lost his temper and insulted me back that he's sorry. He began to drop messages everywhere and I eventually gave in.

3rd incident happened on our way back from an event. He saw a message from a colleague he told me to stop doing business with cus he feels the man has his eyes on me which is totally not true. He flared up, stopped the car and was even threatening to beat me up. I came down from his car and stood by the roadside. He came down too and gave me the insult of my life in full public view and glare and told me to enter the car which I refused. I had no money on me and had to beg a stranger for money. By that time he was coming back, he quickly took a picture of both of us and sent it to everybody of how he caught me in the act with my lover on the road. He called me and said that if he must marry me, I must break my business sim card and look for a wife friendly occupation or sit at home.

He later apologised over it. Meanwhile he and my sis don't flow as before as he once called her a prostitute.

I want to call it quits but everyone around me feels it's a mistake and he is saying everything out of anger and if I'm patient enough, he will change completely.

I must admit that he has changed alot since we met but the progress compared to the timeframe and the heat I face everyday is nothing to write home about.

He loves me to a fault and I don't know if I can find someone who loves me like him but his other attitude is sniffing life out of me. Do I stay or quit?
Thanks for reading and pardon any typos

Heya, last paragraph is quite evident that you have developed stockholm syndrome towards him, yes, he is your captor. Look, love is so many things, patient, kind, long-suffering, doesn't keep record of misdeeds, blah blah. But love is not stressful, insulting, jealous, abusive and manipulative. Aunty, if this story is true, you are in an abusive relationship. If you were my sister, that relationship would end this night for good...Don't use your hand to kill yourself...Walk away while it is still day..

Very daft analysis from an empty barrel. Just a quick primitive analysis. How many Nigerian footballers are from the south east? How many have families based fully in the east? How many have investments in form of hotels, factories, bakeries and electronics store in the East? How many send raw cash to their family?
My friends and I are looking for how to raise money so we can invest in real estate in the south east. Target? High net worth individuals.

This OP is a mumuish suegbe..

Engineering Degree or Quantity Surveying Degree, which one? They are not the same thing. And due respect to the Quantity Surveyors, but this man is a prime example of the faulty appointments we give in this country. A quantity surveyor has no business heading engineering services or a project team. It's not done anywhere. It is wrong because he doesn't have the prerequisite training. It is not mentioned anywhere that he went for further training in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Project Management.

The implication of this is that, all projects under him will be given out as contracts, which is not totally wrong but the problem is that the directorate he heads will never see growth or expansion meaning that professionals who should get jobs will not get employed. Up until now, I never knew the CBN has an engineering services department because most of their projects are executed by third parties.

look at how u are talking out of ignorance with so much confidence. Read the CBN and NDIC Acts before assuming

Statement of CBN Core Mandate
The mandate of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is derived from the 1958 Act of Parliament, as amended in 1991, 1993,1997,1998,1999 and 2007.

The CBN Act of 2007 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria charges the Bank with the overall control and administration of the monetary and financial sector policies of the Federal Government.

The objects of the CBN are as follows:

ensure monetary and price stability;
issue legal tender currency in Nigeria;
maintain external reserves to safeguard the international value of the legal tender currency;
promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; and
act as Banker and provide economic and financial advice to the Federal Government.
Consequently, the Bank is charged with the responsibility of administering the Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BOFI) Act (1991) as amended, with the sole aim of ensuring high standards of banking practice and financial stability through its surveillance activities, as well as the promotion of an efficient payment system.

In addition to its core functions, CBN has over the years performed some major developmental functions, focussed on all the key sectors of the Nigerian economy (financial, agricultural and industrial sectors). Overall, these mandates are carried out by the Bank through its various departments

I am an architect so I will most likely tilt to housing. You can never go wrong providing housing solutions especially student housing in this part of the globe.

On the other hand, A CBT test hub isnt such a bad idea but running costs which includes payment of staff, maintenance, frequency of use (patronage) and competition are issues that might spring up or give you serious food for thoughts.

PS : I am available for consultancy services viz design, build or supervision.

All the best.

Not true.. Check all the MDAs that remit to the government, their salaries are quite higher than others. Because the remit a certain percentage and use the remaining as running costs.. They have targets and make sure the meet those financial targets..

They do not have targets but atimes are asked to bear certain financial burdens as required by government.

You are beginning to see the light gradually.

Actually it does, but you probably won't see it.... universities remit a certain percentage of their IGR to the government.

God,na wah.. Simple Google would help. CBN generates money from alot of ways and remits it to the Federation account..or consolidated revenue account. Universities never remit to the government, so don't even say that. Ndic generates and remits.. Please get your facts right before you argue.. I'm tired of answering this over and over

You are not in the university system so you don't know what you are saying. The universities generate alot of money, I mean millions.. They don't remit nothing to the government, yet the government pays salaries, provides tetfund for research, infrastructure, also research grants that's is not accounted for, etc.. What happens to the school fees, the acceptance fees, the other IGRs? Most universities don't even pay the allowances the are supposed to pay their workers, cut their salaries..

Universities remit money to the government.

Ha! Na wah o.. Abeg try and do your research before u ask this kind of questions o.. Both CBN and NDIC does generate and remit money to the Federal government

https://ndic.gov.ng/senate-lauds-ndic-for-regular-remittance-to-consolidated-revenue-fund/

If you say NNPC generates money for the FG, yeah, true, if you say NPA generates money for the FG yeah, true, but the CBN's core mandate doesn't include generating money for the FG rather it manages the FG's funds and the economy. How can it remit money to itself?

NDIC is Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation and it's mandate doesnt include making money for the FG.

Of course there are services these agencies provide through which IGR comes in, some of which are remitted to government and the other percentage utilised by these agencies as required. But they do not necessarily make money for the government.

Equating these agencies to the university somehow answers ASUU questions about IPPIS. Universities have internally generated revenues atimes worth billions, some of which are remitted to the government but they are not listed as money making agencies for government. So if the CBN, NDIC are allegedly exempted from IPPIS, why not universities?

Until universities are able to generate revenue and remit some percentage to the Federal government, then they can have financial autonomy. The government pays and bankrolls everything in the Universities, without getting any monetary returns from the said Universities so the government can dictate and decide what gives.. Simple.. The above mentioned organisationis do generate and remit to the government.

CBN generates money how? NDIC how?

Crime / Re: Lady Reveals What A Driver Did To Her Friend In Abuja [see Photos] by ogtavia(m): 6:39pm On Nov 26, 2019
The Lady isn't telling the full story. I had UBER and Bolt apps till I decided to delete the former cos I rarely used it. I have found Bolt to be cheaper and just as good as UBER. Infact, I feel some of these UBER drivers have a sickening sense of entitlement. I don't work for Bolt so this is not a statement of BIAS. To be fair to the lady, some of these drivers could really be silly atimes. That said, no BOLT driver(at least none that I have met) will refuse transfer.I have made trips worth #10k at a time and paid via transfer that atimes would even have some delay before its credited, yet all these drivers involved haven't ever misbehaved.
Most of these drivers would always complain about Abuja ladies and their behaviour/attitude towards them ranging from unwarranted insults, tricking and deceiving them in order not to pay as well being unnecessarily difficult to relate with.

That being said, I am not in anyway justifying the assault or violence that has allegedly being meted on this lady but a single story is a dangerous story. Some lady's probably assume everyone will take their bullshit , terrible attitude and very uncouth tongue. This doesn't justify an harsh or violent response, but again, not every man is the same..

She should continue to nurse her wounds till she gets well enough to tell the full story while the driver should endeavour to come forward and clear the air.
