It was a night before Jamhuri Day Nairobi residents enjoyed a performance by international act Erykah Badu at the Carnivore Grounds. She worked the crowd up into a celebratory frenzy with her set, which lasted almost two hours and included two encores. Badu followed performances from Ugandan Saxophonist Isaiah Katumwa, DJ Andre and DJ Adrian.
It was all fun and a memorial Day of Kenya. Hit the read more to see more pictures from this event.

CelebritiesJustin Bieber Planned By Killer by ogusbaba1(op): 5:46pm On Dec 13, 2012
Justin Bieber was at the centre of a recently discomfited murder plot. The 'Boyfriend' singer was reportedly being targeted by a convicted killer in New Mexico, who was about to have the 18-year-old popstar executed and castrated but his hitmen were intercepted by police in New York last month after he confessed his plan before it was carried out.

According to New Mexico's KRQE News, convicted killer Dana Martin - who is currently serving two life sentences for raping and killing a 15-year-old girl in Vermont in 2000 - hired his then fellow inmate Mark Stake at Las Cruces prison and his nephew Tanner Ruane to carrying out the killing of the Canadian singer in New York last month, where he was performing at Madison Square Garden. Dana - who is reportedly obsessed with Justin and has a tattoo of him on his leg - told police about his plan to have the men kidnap Justin and his bodyguard and strangle them with paisley ties. He claimed Tanner was also planning to castrate Justin. Both men were arrested before they were able to make contact with Justin, and Tanner was taken into custody in New York after being found with a stash of tool including a pruning shears.

monkeyleg: don't you get tired of washing your masters filthy dirty laundry. surely you are the only one who does not see him as a failure. Even Uduaghan admits that he is absolutely useless, with no plan, vision or capacity to deliver any good for the state. He should hurry up and get out of that office.

PoliticsUduaghan Ensure Principals To Register Students For NECO, WAEC In Flood Areas by ogusbaba1(op): 8:50am On Dec 08, 2012
Delta state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has directed principals of secondary schools located in flood devastated areas of the state to ensure that SS III students were registered in the NECO and WAEC school certification examinations.

Dr. Uduaghan gave the directive recently during a serial meeting with political appointees and House of Assembly members to review the flood situation in the state. He enjoined principals in the flood areas to immediately take action and register students for the school certificate examinations.

He told them not to fail because any form of complacency on their part would impede the academic progress of the students.

His words “You cannot afford to fail to register the students. Don’t toy with the future of the students. They must write NECO and WAEC school certificate examinations so put machinery in motion now to get them registered.

The Gov., Who also directed the state Ministry of Education to conduct JSS III certificate examinations, said the flood should not be used as an excuse to truncate the academic ambition of students.

He also added that every students has a time frame for the completion of an academic programme and directed the state Ministry of Education to ensure that students in flood devastated areas were not frustrated.

pro01: This is very good to hear! Since Nigerian governments compulsively waste public funds on all kinds of frivolities, they might as well 'waste' some of the awoof money on people that have actually done something to deserve it. This is certainly an incentive for brilliant folks to take their studies more seriously.

If my state government had been this thoughtful, perhaps I would have cut down a few extra hours of beer-drinking time just to make first class. Lol.

PoliticsTension In Isoko Flood Camps As Delta Police Arrest Uzere Leaders by ogusbaba1(op): 8:00am On Dec 08, 2012
Tension heightened at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps set up by the state government for flood victims at Isoko South local government area of Delta State following the arrest of the President General and chairman of troubled Uzere kingdom, Chief Emiakpo Owhe.
The arrests, which coincided with the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the flooded communities in the area, were condemned by majority of the flood victims, especially the Uzere people at the camps. They accused Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of being behind the arrest of the community leaders, saying the governor is acting out a script written by the allegedly dethroned king of the community.
It would be recalled that two weeks ago, the Deputy Governor, Prof. Amos Utuama, was in Uzere kingdom to address the people affected by the ravaging flood that swept across parts of the state. The aggrieved community took Utuama and his entourage hostage for several hours for visiting the allegedly dethroned monarch, Isaac Odogri.
Barely few days after that incident, the state government drafted to the community trucks loads of soldiers and anti-riot mobile policemen and started arresting people indiscriminately.
It was gathered that following the arrest of the leaders, fear gripped some of the Uzere flood victims, leading a large number of them to refuse to go to the camps set up by the state government whom they accused of backing the alleged estranged ruler.
They fear they could also be arrested or poisoned in the camps since the police in the state had declared many of them wanted over the crisis that had rocked the community.
The Uzere people had earlier accused the state government as well as police of indiscriminate arrest and harassment of its indigenes, including the most recent arrest of the 22 farmers and fishermen. Some primary and secondary school children were also arrested, along with the adults and sent to Kwale prison.
The community, through their counsel, Chief Victor Otomewo, said that the allegedly deposed Ovie (king), Isaac Udogri I, was the one using the police against the community.
Chief Otomewo, who briefed newsmen on behalf of the community, accused the state government of fueling the crisis in Uzere.
He blamed the predicament of the community on the apparent reluctance of the state government to release the White Paper on the judicial panel of inquiry into the bloody crisis.
Chief Otomewo, a former Attorney-General of the state, said that the failure of the state government to make public the recommendations of the Rtd. Justice S.A. Ehiwario-led panel of inquiry is causing more harm than good to the community.
He said that the arrest of the 22 persons, including children, was to please the allegedly estranged king who wants to intimidate the community into succumbing to pressure to return him to the throne.
Crisis enveloped the oil producing community late last year when some youths were killed during a protest against Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). The traditional ruler of the kingdom was allegedly deposed and another installed in his place.
But the state government gave the estranged monarch its support, and insists that he remains the only recognised ruler in the community.
