Politics / Re: Gani Fawehinmi Rejects National Honour (OFR) by Ohnow: 3:40pm On Dec 19, 2008
@ Carmelily

I will say it again, if Gani had received the award like every other person did, he will still be regarded a "Man of Honour". The only reason we can slander the rest of them is because he rejected his award, which i have absolutely nothing against, and as matter of fact i love the bold step he took. But we should not go ahead to tag other receipients as men and women who lack integrity.

hollandis:

Point of correction.Soyinka sent representatives (his children ) to pick his own share of the national cake
He should be excluded from the list of the "men of honour" angry
B.O.S.S.:

With no disrespect to you "born-agains" out there, apparently, Pastor Adeboye was also awarded the so-called OFR honour and I don't remember reading that he rejected it. More so, what has he done to affect the general public that makes him deserve the award?

Last time I checked, churches are meant to be charity and why in this world should you be awarded for doing "God's work" ?

Hmmmmmm, Human Nature!!!

C'mon guys, lets not go there. So because Gani rejected his award, every other recipient is not a man or woman of integrity It is their prerogative whether or not to accept the award. Lets not judge too quickly. We appreciate, admire and respect Gani, likewise some of the other recipients. If Gani accepted the award, we will regard him a "man of honour", only that this time he dared to be different.

Soyinka even after receiving the award criticised the Judiciary- http://punchng.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20081219225789

Their integrity has nothing to do with whether or not they accepted the award.

Gani has gotten a far more greater award than the OFR S***. Even with his ill-health, he still stood for the truth and what he believes in. A True Hero he is. smiley

This is absolutely pathetic , Wat a Country  cry. So much for the "SEARCH FOR TECHNOCRATS", even after 20 wasted months. This is just putting a square peg in a round hole. But who knows, undecided
Romance / Re: Why Are Most Men Like Babies? (Tidiness) by Ohnow: 4:23pm On Oct 23, 2008
@Post

Been untidy and scattered has nothing to do with gender, alot of things(upbringing, enviroment, ) contibute to how tidy or untidy one is. Having said that, some men tend to relax when their married, and relegate anything on hygiene and cleanliness to their wives. But we must not fail to understand that Marriage is a Synergy. Agreed, its expected of the woman to keep the homefront, just like we expect the man to provide for the home. But the same way  its expected of the woman to be supportive and understanding when the husband is cashtrapped or can't meet up wt d demands of d home, so also the man should understand dat he's got a part to play in keeping the home clean, by been tidy himself and not throw things around like a little child.

Family / Re: Training Up A Child by Ohnow: 12:27pm On Oct 16, 2008
Parents have a spiritual obligation to guide their kids and not impose their will on dem or try to live thru dem. But more than anything else, I think one should study and appreciate each child’s uniqueness and ask God to help you guide and raise them.

Dis Guy:

I think the state governor should first berate his fellow governors especially those with the highest number of indigines in the state or those with little or no qualifications, for not providing conducive environment for their people!!!

There is too much focus on lekki and victoria island region; the government should invest in social housing in new towns
with good transport links whereby people can wont feel they have to struggle too much to get to their place of work or business

In terms of transportation, the government can introduce stringent and higher M.O.T requirements for vehicle owners and even more stringent and more expensive vehicle license with compulsory insurance for transporters within the states, this wa thousands of cabu cabu (rickety cabs) and molues will be forced to quit the road or move to ogun state grin then introduce alternative- clean conducive buses, metrail, ferry etc

more areas should be assigned business, residential and industrial districts, that way people are not struglling with coca-cola trucks on their way to school or banks operating in residential areas who usually don't have (adequate)parking space for their staff and customers

Introduce city centre charges like N1000 to drive through a particular area where there are sufficient alternative or even different routes and if you are the only one in a car or minivan you should be charged N2000 - underutilisation of capacity cheesy between 8am-11am and 4pm-7pm

commercial building should be forced to build parking blocks to accommodate 1/4 of their office or shopfloors

and they should stop allocating land like there's no tomorrow the houses should be built like those in London- shoesize!!! cool

and pavements/walkways/sidewalks seems many of the contruction companies don't know what this is, it's not exactly expensive to include this in their proposals!!

This sure makes sense!
