1. We are not asking for overnight miracles but we need to be sure our govt is working. If you ask your wife for food and she says it's almost ready, yet she has not even put on the gas, won't you be worried? 2. It's not about being APC or PDP, it's about asking our leaders what their agenda is; from the local govt to the governors before the federal and checking them every step of the way. 3. If you are busy criticizing PMB and you haven't started asking your state governor about their plans for you, then we are still doing what we have been doing since 1999: absolutely nothing!!! |
I will give you the advice I give others and myself. 1. Since you can't really stop giving, make a strict budget for what you are willing to part with monthly or quarterly. Tell your significant other about this to help you track it. And give yourself a deadline like 4 or 5 years when you put off the switch. 2. Make sure you invest every other cent you make. You should not keep idle funds. You can't give what you don't have. 3. Learn to say NO and teach your kids how to do same. 4. Learn to ignore calls until you have money to give. 5. Always give LESS than what somebody asks for. NEVER give the full amount |
In the heat of the campaigns they said PMB will defeat BH easily because he once defeated a sect called Maitatsine.... I still remember that campaign slogan. I didn't buy into it though. Please can he quickly deploy whatever tactics he used then, these daily killings are unbearable. |

Caseless:This is not about being in a hurry bro. There are some key areas that need not be left without direction. This is not about politics either. My concern is what is happening today in teaching hospitals. If ASUU were to go on strike today we would need a minister of education to show the way forward and make the position of govt known. It's beyond the purview of the Perm Sec |
Ozin:We can't continue like this. There is a limit to what permanent secretaries can approve. Govt hospitals are shutting down as we speak. I don't even want to talk about fuel scarcity. I know the government is still young, but we need urgent actions please..... |
I know a lot of people on this forum believe that ministries can run with only permanent secretaries, but I beg to differ. Resident doctors are on strike in several government hospitals because of a face-off between them and their CMDs based on interpretation of an earlier circular issued by the last administration on skipping. A minister for health would have sorted that out easily. Can we please prevail on government to appoint ministers in some key areas like Health, Finance and Power? We can wait till next year for the rest. |
MKO4ever:Please read again and understand. When he was telling us that we have the capacity to generate enough power we didn't believe him. Painful as it may sound to some people, he tried |
MKO4ever:The era of sabotage on gas supply is over. It's the simple reason why power has improved. The election has been won. No need for sabotage and propaganda anymore |
SergeAlain:1 millions likes. We are talking as if they have already started production. Nigerians never learn |
I was one of the people waiting for jp to open this new thread hoping it will make front page. Unfortunately it is unlikely to do so because it is soooo full of insults. It's really sad. However the subsidy debate appears to have died down again because fuel scarcity has ended temporarily. Maybe with a new round of scarcity we will debate more civilly. Let's take it easy people. |
Ok oh. Tomorrow they will say there is no office of the First Lady. Yet everyday on the news you will be hearing how the presidents wife went to one place or the other. Just a change of title from First Lady to 'presidents wife'. |
tohpahz:In the same way you also don't need your own mother or relatives around. Don't think your husband will turn his back on his people just because he married you. Just be yourself and pray for peace in your home and in his mother's home. |
Juillianne:Likewise you will never meet the wives of your sons.......what goes around comes around. I have four boys and I also have a wonderful mother-in-law who prays for me daily. I show her undiluted love. I am not in competition with her for my husband's love |
princesschloe:This is the best opinion so far. All these young people believe trust is automatic and 100%. It takes years to build and maintain. It has nothing to do with love, but more with maturity, tolerance and commitment. Some people read meanings into all sorts of things. That will destroy the marriage faster than any real infidelity. In such cases please lock the phones until they grow up |
Trust is important in marriage but some people have real difficulty building trust. It's only natural but can be overcome by showing openness and sincerity. OP, your husband may have nothing to hide but is scared of being misinterpreted or misunderstood. Even when your phones are open you can easily misunderstand contacts, text messages, chats etc. it's possible you both are the suspicious type and if so this might help you in your early years until you prove your loyalty to each other. People come here and paint ideal scenarios. Beware no two marriages are the same. |
DeeTus:What a foolish girl! All she needed to say is that he is a friend/classmate. This is Africa biko. She has no business introducing herself as the girlfriend. That is for your brother to do when the time is right. She got what she deserved. |
Give mother and son space when they require it. When they want to talk leave them alone. Don't initiate unnecessary displays of affection but accept such graciously from your guy when in her presence. Above all don't pretend to be a good girl. She will know instantly. Be good FOR REAL if you know a guy is serious about you then have a personal makeover and drop those habits you know you will not personally tolerate in a daughter-in-law |
OP life is such a precious gift not to be taken lightly. Don't live for your husband or your children. Live for YOURSELF. In life you will have disappointments and blessings. Take them and move on. Time heals all wounnds but there will always be a scar. Please please a cheating husband is not the end of the world. You are still very young and there is so much joy in your future. It may be without your present husband. It may also be with him. It all depends on you. For now, take one day at a time. Fill your days with things you love to do. Pray more and learn to depend more on yourself. Treat him like an acquaintance and don't expect too much from him. Let time decide what you will do next. Don't RUSH into any decision and be careful whom you confide in. God bless you. |
Power will improve obviously because the gas pipeline vandalism will disappear overnight. Go figure |
I hope he looks for seasoned technocrats and not put square pegs in round holes |
DPR deceiving Nigerians since 1960. Have you asked why ALL stations are selling above 87? No new imports have been ordered. The Depots sell to the petrol station owners between 105 and 110. You expect them to sell 87 abi? NNPC supplies only to their own outlets. By the time the available stock finishes the price will go to 200 or more again. What the marketers got was a POLITICAL promise from OUTGOING senators. Another round of scarcity is coming. When DPR seals stations. They will all shut down and scarcity starts again. PS: I made the effort to ask a petrol station manager why they are still selling high prices |
jadel7:Haha. It will but people believe what they choose even when the truth stares them in the face. Meanwhile I am female just for the records |
jadel7:I no be small pikin dear. During Buhari's regime I was in secondary school. There are a lot of immature people on nairaland so I don't like commenting all the time. Nigerians get carried away by what they see and hear in the media. Young people don't know the meaning of propaganda |
jadel7:I have a post on the negatives but I will oblige you. The negatives are easy to spot because they have been overhyped by the media 1. Boko Haram scourge that he underestimated until thousands lost their lives 2. Slow response to the Chibok girls kidnap due to misinformation by the moles in his office. The future will reveal the truth one day. It always does. 3. Poor management of the immigration scandal 4. Inability to consolidate his efforts in the power sector despite privatization. Nigerians still in darkness 5. Widespread impunity and corruption in govt which he got used to because it's nigeria and PDP style of doing things. 6. Lack of charisma during public media outings made his people lose interest in him. Amanpour on my mind 7. Incessant strikes especially health workers strikes 8. Prolonged ASUU and ASUP strikes. We had them in the past govts but we didn't have social media then 9. Treating allegations of missing money such as the alleged $20billion with levity 10. Giving his wife too much power The rest are all over the place. |
Now to the negatives 1. Slow response and underestimation of serious national issues such as Boko Haram 2. Listening to sycophants and not looking for hard facts and evidence That led to all his failures which I will not bore you with |
1. For making youths remember agriculture again 2. For making me start eating local rice in my house again 3. For attempting to revive trains again though not perfect 4. For making youth to think of becoming entrepreneurs 5. For encouraging people to express themselves without watching their backs for fear of being arrested or receiving a letter bomb. Dele Giwa on my mind. 6. For refusing to encourage the gay culture in our country. When your kids grow up you will thank him for this. 7. For allowing women to have more impact in governance. Some did well, others didn't 8. For making Nigerians have confidence to come out and vote on Election Day. The last time this happened in Nigeria was in 1993 and the results never saw the light of day. 9. For standing up to the USA and sourcing arms from Russia and calling their bluff. 10. For sending our bright brains and lecturers out to get better qualifications to enrich our educational sector. You may not understand that part of the reason for our poor quality education is that we lack good teachers following decades of decay in the sector by previous regimes. You can't teach what you don't know 11. For peacefully handing over power without thinking twice. If you think he didn't have a choice you must be joking. 12. For saving us from queuing for petrol for 6 years even when he knew it was not economically viable to continue to subsidize petrol. Allowing private sector to import fuel to stabilize supply at the risk of forming a cartel which they eventually did and humiliated him with it at the end. I know my post is long and many will not read it. It's because of the decades of rot in Nigerian education |
MissTechy:Ok. Wil check it out. Goodluck |
Interesting things always attract attention. Make it interesting. Avoid too much tech talk. Relate your posts to everyday practical things. Ask people for their opinion, not just giving yours. Show interest in what they have to say. Most Nigerians are not tech savvy so may not understand too much hard stuff. Disclaimer: I haven't visited your blog before, so I don't know if you are already doing these. |
989900:Lol. You are right at 'patience'.... A lot is at stake. I wait with bated breath.... |
I wish you the best in your future endeavours. You came in as an imperfect human, made mistakes like we all do, said things you shouldn't have said, was slow in acting in a lot of things. However your sincerity shone above all your failings. That gladdened a lot of hearts and kept a lot of optimists hoping for better results from you. However, it was not to be. The people have spoken. No second chance. We will still see you at FEC meetings but no longer as the chairman. You are still a Nigerian, so whatever good or bad you did, you will share in the outcome with the rest of 170 million souls. |
jpphilips:I don't think Buhari has bothered to inform himself of the true situation of things. Like most elderly men he still lives in the past. No offence. NNPC is also very corrupt. The money we are talking about can turn saints into fiends overnight. So we simply hope we don't shift the money from the cabal to a few NNPC people. NNPC monopoly of supply will also bring in an era of unprecedented scarcity. |
