Celebrities / Jidenna Visits His Primary School In Enugu by ohzee(f): 6:58pm On Sep 02, 2016
It was all smiles, excitement and happiness as the staff, children, old students and parents of Justine-Thomas Kindergarten and Primary school Enugu welcomed their pioneer student Jidenna when he came calling to visit his alma mater. The star was nostalgic as he remembered how he played in sand during his early years in the school. He remarked that the solid foundation the school gave him was instrumental to his success. He advised the students to hold on to their dreams passionately. One of the pioneer teachers was there as well to welcome him.

Education / Re: Babcock University Set To Graduate Set Of Maiden Doctors by ohzee(f): 8:35pm On Aug 27, 2016
Ohzee, what's your opinion on this ma'am? A Nigerian private university such as this vs Nigerian public universities in the area of producing doctors. See all the conflicting comments here.

I just saw this mention today. I have had house officers from Igbinedion and they were dedicated intelligent and hardworking. I don't believe public schools will produce better doctors. The harsh learning environment is a serious distraction for a lot of students and not many can cope. In addition, its not the number of consultants you have that matters but the dedication to duty and facilities. Remember we are talking of undergraduate and not postgraduate training.
In my opinion most of the public medical schools have just human resources and nothing else. During accreditation you see them cutting corners and padding up to survive.

Hope I have made some sense. In the end it will depend on the students dedication to excel.

Lol. I truly cannot because I don't really care. All politicians are the same. I do remember a lot of projects mentioned during FEC meetings. I just want this govt to start something for crying out loud. Even FERMA patch patch of roads was better than nothing. You get? But what do I know? I am neither a wailer nor a zombie. I am not APC, neither am I PDP.

I see suffering and poverty in my work place daily and it breaks my heart. I don't know if I am making any sense sha. But we can't keep making excuses for these politicians. This is not the first time crude oil price has dropped or our foreign reserves dropped, but I have been around for a long time and I haven't seen the kind of hopelessness that exists today in the common man.

Isn't it a shame that GEJ keep creeping up after 2 years . That is because your old president has not even began to work yet with two years to go.
In the US, the only time bush is mentioned is when the iraqi war is being discussed. Obama has out-performed him in a million fold and made a legacy.
With 2 years to go, and with the level of mental epilepsy and confusion at the highest level of Nigeria's federal government, i am certain buhari would do nothing or at best little for the reminder of his 2 years, and GEJ's name would keep cropping up.

I am not aware of a single major project flagged off by this regime. Guess they will spend the entire tenure commissioning past GEJ projects, claiming they completed payments.
No problem. May God keep us all.alive till 2019

I don't know if you will read this my post but I will write it anyway. I read your update and was very sad at the way you handled this matter. I know you want to save your marriage but you were damn too lenient on your wife. I have been married for a pretty long time so I know what the hell I am talking about. You must punish her severely for her actions. She has to stay away completely from her sisters for a duration not less than 6 months. You have to show your displeasure massively and let her know that you no longer trust her. She has to win your love and trust back. Don't be too much in a hurry to forgive and forget. Tell your dad in confidence what happened.
She knows you love her very much and can easily win you back. You are not even convinced that she is remorseful and that's terrible.

Please treat her like an enemy for now until she shows the remaining true colors she is still hiding. If she is truly remorseful she will survive her time in the wilderness.
Finally she must apologise to you in front of her sisters and their husbands and make sure you humiliate them as well. I am sorry to say this but if they don't stay away from your marriage, consider your marriage over. A leopard doesn't change its spots.

I have been expecting this counter thread since and thank God it is without bias. Post-UME is fraud personified. How can someone score very high but because of the nonsense they call VC's list, special candidate, state of origin, he/she won't get the admission? The earlier they scrap it, the better for students.

UNN's Post UME is filled with fraud.

I agree that Post UME should be scrapped. However be informed that those lists also existed before post UME. You even forgot "friends of the university" Lol. Once the school is done with first and second merit lists based on their course cut off points, the rest is a scramble.

I personally wouldnt let my husband do all the spending, that will be wicked of me.

Anyway you are a good man. Please talk to your wife and tell her it takes two to build a home not the husband alone.

I tell young women, if you allow your husband carry all the financial obligations you are digging an early grave for him. Better help him to live long so you can both enjoy your old age.

It was in our presence they moved into their house.

That week, we vex go find land to buy.

What I just said now is more than enough.

Gbam! This is what a true helpmate does. Whenever my husband has a project I don't ask him for a dime. I even go as far as paying school fees and still contribute what I can to the project. If you marry a good man you have nothing to fear. When you are open with your finances your husband will also be open with his. You build your home together. I can't imagine collecting stipend from my husband. Then what's the point of working? I might as well be a full time housewife. A good man will give his wife monetary gifts from time to time . I have been married for a very long time almost 19 years. Women of nowadays sha.
Anyway you have to pray always about your marriage.

Business / Re: Will Nigerian Banks Ever Start Issuing Credit Cards? by ohzee(f): 1:25pm On May 13, 2016
since1914:

I think with the BVN, it is possible to run a credit background check on each individual irrespective of the bank their accounts are domiciled at. Therefore, if Mr. A takes a credit card loan from Bank GTBANK, it will be impossible for him to take another loan from Zenith Bank until he repays the first one. All the bank needs to do, is to use his BVN number to run a background check to ascertain his credit worthiness. If he fails to pay the money after its due date, the same BVN can be used to trace all his other bank accounts and if funded, the value of the credit can be debited from there.

So with the BVN, Mr. A cannot take credit and run away, unless off course he never wants to own a bank account in his lifetime again. I think this presents a good opportunity for banks to start reaching out to individual customers to borrow. The level of credit an individual is entitled to, should be determined by the volume of business they transact on their bank accounts annually. For this credit system to work effectively, the CBN also need to set up a department/agency totally dedicated to the management of bank customer credit information so that banks can access them when they need them.

Good points. I believe AMCON is already doing this with bank loan defaulters. They can as well extend it to credit cards.

Well, only two of those schools have up to 200 candidate sitting for the exam, their sample size is small and affected the entire stat.

Schools with bigger sample size( higher number of candidates) are likely going to suffer when the average scores are collated like WAEC did.

Good observation. However smaller class sizes are also easier to teach and discipline. The teachers are more focused. That's why many parents will rather send their children to private schools. Public schools are overcrowded with overworked teachers.

Okay, if you don't accept that there are more doctors that can be employed; why then do medical students do not easily get internship spaces?
Good question. Internship is part of the training. It can only be done in hospitals that can train them and there are strict guidelines a hospital must fulfill in terms of manpower and facilities to be able to train a house officer. Its almost like medical school admission all over again. We don't have enough. In addition, I heard some teaching hospitals, due to shady practices do not fill up their capacity for houseofficers. I am not in administration so I don't know if it's true.

All right, but if this were the case, why does the NMA say there are more doctors than can be employed in Nigeria? Why don't they just employ more doctors?
It starts from the Uni, why don't they admit more medical students since very many apply so they can fill the vacuum in places where there are no docs?
What do you think?...are you doc?

I am a very senior doc. I don't know if I ever heard that statement from NMA but if it was said, the person is very ignorant. Most doctors want to work in federal hospitals in big towns so in a way that may be true. As for admitting more medical students, it isn't possible because we don't have the capacity. There is a maximum number of students you can train at a time for proper clinical learning.
We need more medical schools more medical lecturers, more doctors to work in rural areas with incentives. I can go on and on.
I know there are some negligent Nigerian doctors. Even the training is not as good as it used to be. So many factors involved. Some abandon their duty posts in rural areas. But that is the rot in this country. It affects every sector.
We need an urgent reshaping of this country.

That part where you said maybe these doctors need to experience this so that they can have a feel of what countless number of patients go through due to their negligent attitude has been my thought since yesterday; just that I've been loathe to say it so people wouldn't tag me with bad names. Who knows whether the doctor who should be on duty was in his private hospital? Too many patients experience this daily but no one talks about it.
What goes round comes round! May God continue to bless the hardworking doctors who have the interest of their patients at heart!

Its like you don't know that once you leave the major cities that most government hospitals don't have enough doctors especially in the north. You will be shocked to know that there may be only 2 doctors employed in that hospital and there will be times when there is simply no one on duty. We have a huge manpower gap in the health sector especially in the north. Ask Corper doctors up north how many patients they see daily. Its mind-boggling.
No manpower, no emergency equipment or drugs.
My brother every morning when you wake up in Nigeria, your prayer should be Lord, please let me not encounter anything that will make me require emergency medical or rescue service today.

Funding funding and more funding is what tertiary hospitals need. NHIS should be revamped as a matter of national urgency else we are going nowhere. Private employers must ensure their workers have health insurance.
Once the funding is in place, things will improve.

Building 10,000 non-sustainable PHC centres is not the answer. We don't even have enough health workers to staff them. Go to the rural areas, empower the already existing health centres whether public or private. Let them partner with govt and monitor them closely.

Let the tertiary health centres be run as such. They should stop handling basic care.

My man your marriage is already shutting down and you can't help it. You exceeded all limits so she can never trust you anymore. There is only one way you can prove to her that what happened this day was a joke. She will only believe you after your death and no one outside her children comes to the house to cry the demise of his father. However is a lesson of the grave just learn to leave with her the way she is acting till the day of reckoning comes.

Good luck.

This is the real truth. Even if she believes op now, there will always be an atom of doubt in her mind. Women are already endangered in the game of marriage in Africa. How could he play such an expensive prank?
Family / Re: Before you divorce your Adulterous hubby by ohzee(f): 8:28am On Feb 18, 2016
enygmababe:

I am amazed that you think an unfaithful HUSBAND has the option of marrying more wives.

A married man can only go ahead to marry more wives in Nigeria if the first marriage was customary or Muslim in nature. If he was married under the act in the first instance, then any subsequent marriage is bigamy which is a criminal offence for which he can be convicted by a court of law in Nigeria. A lot of women just don't know this and so do not harness it. Also if the first marriage is customary, any subsequent marriage to another woman can only be customary in nature grin

If my hubby tries it, sadly the woman will never be able to bear his name. In fact I know of a woman whose husband secretly went to marry another woman, she gave him and the other woman an ultimatum and they had no choice but to annul the marriage because at the time of the marriage the man was already marriage so the subsequent marriage was void ab initio.

It is sad indeed that most men would cheat and say it is meaningless, a harmless fling and that they love their wife. If they only realised that the act of lovemaking to a wife transcends the physical to the spiritual as well as the emotional trauma it could cause, am sure they would restrain themselves. A man who cheats on me cannot love me and I doubt that I have the capacity to stay with such a man and pretend to manage it. However, this post is not about the repentant adulterer but about the unrepentant philanderer.

Guys beware! The day a woman stops crying about you that day you need to start fearing for you life.

Before deciding to leave it will take some time. The first time I discover it, I will give him time to do the needful and change. This is because i know what i have invested in this family and would not want to leave for another person who did not sow to come and reap. After this period of grace, if he does not change, I may draw battle lines. By battle lines I do not mean incessant quarrels but I mean a withdrawal of cooperation.

By withdrawal of cooperation I mean that he will become the bread winner of the family in the true sense of the word. After all, he has an abundance and that is the reason why he can entice girls in numbers. He will drop the household allowance, my personal allowance and pay for everything even to the match box. If he doesn't then there will be no food in the house. He will also not get a dime from me whether as a loan or support of any kind. We might actually live as strangers in the house.

The moment I know about the affair we will start using CDs for intimacy though for the life of me I still wonder how much intimacy there will be becos I will imagine him with another woman, see them in the act in my minds eye and be repulsed. Pretending through the motions of intimacy is no mean feat but is definitely beyond my powers. Biko leave me I beg.

On philandering shamelessly in revenge ...lol. Giving myself to his friends in revenge would be stupid and I value myself too much to harm/abuse myself all in the name of revenge. However, a philandering man who refuses to change is obviously advocating for an open marriage and should get it. However, the female need not go about it abrasively just for revenge. If I were to chose that option? I would not rush it. I would only be with a man that also attracts me but which said attraction I would hitherto have suppressed because of the institution of marriage. However, if I ever get to this stage, it would me that I do not have an iota of love for my hubby anymore in which case, I can kill him...subtly. So I would be better off leaving him and filing for a divorce.

Guys always forget that a wife has blood flowing in her veins too. She sometimes sees some men and feels attraction but suppresses the feelings because of her love for her husband and the vows she took. Why can't a man do the same?

But right now, even though I pray it never happens, I keep myself busy by making the home so happy and homely that he
knows how good he has it. So that when the battle lines are drawn, he knows what he is missing.

Truth be told though the questions are not easy to answer nor are the answers sacrosanct. A lot depends on how I feel when it happens. I may bloody well take a gun and blow his head off in a dark alley.
Thanks for the free legal advice. I never knew that.
BTW you must be my twin. You expressed everything in my head.
There is a world of difference between a repentant adulterer and a serial cheat.
