Politics / Re: DPR Dispenses Fuel Free Of Charge In Illorin Filling Station by ohzee(f): 8:10pm On Nov 22, 2015 |
How can a filling station hoard a mere 2,300 liters of fuel? most likely they reserved it for personal use and for their friends. DPR should stop playing to the gallery. We all know the cause of this scarcity is unavailability of petrol due to the debt being owed marketers. How come stations are still selling 130 and above? |
Politics / Re: Fuel Scarcity Looms As NNPC Depots Run Dry by ohzee(f): 10:10pm On Nov 15, 2015 |
The story of fuel scarcity in Nigeria. The first is to blame it on marketers claiming they are hoarding. Then they blame it on panic buying. Finally the truth always comes out. The product is scarce and simply obeys the first rule of economics which is demand and supply. The price of fuel should not be static as long as we import. That's why we have the PPPRA. They need to be able to adjust the price at least weekly and put it at a RANGE depending on survey of availability at depots. This will reduce the queues and suffering each time depot stock drops. God help us all. 2 Likes |

warrior01: Don't mind Nigerians and their short memory. in addition prices of rice and foodstuff were always stable. Roads were massively rehabilitated by FERMA, albeit temporary relief measures. I pray this new govt tackles these problems head on. Nigerians are in for a long period of suffering. And it will all be blamed on the last govt. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: How Much Is Fuel In Your Area? by ohzee(f): 8:16pm On Nov 13, 2015 |
The price of petrol will always obey the laws of demand and supply. If govt is serious they have to keep the depots awash with products. Whether refined or imported. The independent marketers do not import and thus buy according to market forces sold to them of course by NNPC and the other major marketers. Of course NNPC outlets and major marketers outlets cannot sell enough fuel to go round. It's just like saying we all should buy rice from govt supermarkets because the price is artificially controlled. I hope PMB will address this subsidy issue once and gir all. |

Bishop42: You obviously don't understand my post. I fully support Biafra. But we don't have to wait until we actualize it before we can start helping ourselves. It's just like a child who is being maltreated. If crying about it doesn't help, then you hustle and get things for yourself. I know there is a limit to what we can do due to the warped constitution of this country, but we need to start from somewhere. This thread is a good beginning. That's my take. |

Politics / Re: Why It Is Illogical To Claim That 'PDP' Destroyed Nigeria For Sixteen Years by ohzee(f): 1:23pm On Nov 03, 2015 |
4Play: God bless you. It's true PDP could have done better but Nigeria of 1984 to 1998 was not better than 1999 to 2015. Forget the so called exchange rate. In those days milk and bread were for the rich. I still remember how we rejoiced when cheaper brands like cowbell, Lahda etc saved us from the monopoly and unaffordability of Peak milk. Nigeria will be better if we can read history and stop recycling politicians 1 Like |

benny4wax: Your brother is your responsibility as long as he resides with you. You cannot afford to handle this matter with kid gloves. There is no jokingly here oh..... Make your stand very clear, let him have NO doubts in his mind. The only problem here is what is your stand? Does he see you with girls? If so, it will be tough for you to preach to him. If your stand is that you don't want him to be sexually active, make it clear and back it up with good reasons, good example and scripture. If you can't be a good example please send him back to your parents. Depending on how he behaves later, you may or may not need to tell your parents. Let him know you are keeping a very close watch on him and you may need to monitor more closely the friends he keeps. Curtail his freedom if necessary. How you handle the matter now will shape his future. I wish you the best. |

Op congrats on your choice of an academic career. There is something missing in the advice you have been getting so far and that is the issue of research. One of the first things you should do besides starting your masters is to try to publish your undergraduate research work in a journal. Your supervisor and possibly your HOD will be more than glad to assist you in this as long as you include them as authors. As for the rest, getting a job is tough in every field so just pray for the best. You don't need to wait for advert especially if it's your alma mater. I wish you God's grace and best of luck. 3 Likes |

laurel03: I always wonder how people keep saying PDP wasted 16years. Many people have forgotten how Nigeria was before 1999. It's true they could have done better, but believe me Nigeria has gone very far. New infrastructure springing up everyday. The only major snag remains the power sector. Until we hold our grassroots government accountable the common man will always be shortchanged. Nigerians stop looking at the center for crumbs. Demand accountability from your state government and local government. If not after another 16yearas you will start looking for another party to blame. 1 Like |

Religion / Re: 10 Reasons Why You Should Go To Church! by ohzee(f): 2:01pm On Aug 16, 2015 |
UjSizzle: Of course God can be worshipped everywhere I don't dispute that fact. But in my opinion corporate worship with other believers also helps strengthen our faith. The church is meant to be one family, but it cannot be perfect here on earth. We will always meet people and attitudes that disappoint us in church and that make us wonder if it's worth it. But it doesn't mean that we give up. We continue to pray for the church including ourselves until the day of the Lord. And yes,we can change to another church if we feel we are not growing where we are. It's the 'feel good' feeling we have to guard against. We can't always get it and if we keep seeking it we may end up changing church every week. We should rather seek where we can grow in the Word and beware of the doctrines of men. |
Religion / Re: 10 Reasons Why You Should Go To Church! by ohzee(f): 1:14pm On Aug 16, 2015 |
UjSizzle: The main reason we go to church is to worship God. Every other thing to me is secondary. Going to church and worshipping God is not to make us feel good. That's where those of us in these latter days have missed it. We keep looking for love, holiness, entertainment etc from the church. Those things should exist INSIDE us because they are the fruits of the spirit. Again, worship in the midst of God's people is a special thing. The apostles didn't neglect it. The Jews of the Old Testament didn't neglect it either. Let's be encouraged to continue to seek God and worship with other believers. Going to church is a PUBLIC pronouncement that we are Christians. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by ohzee(f): 11:44pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
tpiander: YES we were switched to the new system. Like I said it was painful to spend 6 years instead of 5. Many tried to beat the system by writing GCE before the newly-introduced SSCE so that they could go to UNI early. It worked for some, but didn't for others. The Minister of Education then (in my SS3) was Jibril Aminu. Those subjects I talked about were combined into Business Studies (Typing, Shorthand and Business Method), Social Studies (History, Geography and Civic Education) etc. However, all that is in the past now. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by ohzee(f): 10:06pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
sweetgala: You are free to believe what you like. Its a free country. I attended FGGC Benin, finished 1989. I studied 21 subjects in Class 1 (later changed to JSS1) because we were migrated to 6-3-3-4 system the following year. Those subjects included IRK, CRK, Typing, Shorthand, History, Geography, Civic Education etc. Like I said earlier, I hope the motive is good. Nigeria is too volatile now to make such a subject compulsory simply because they are Federal Schools. This is not 1984. I have no need to tell lies. I am not a politician. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by ohzee(f): 9:58pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
tpiander: I used JSS1 here for clarity's sake. I was in the second set that switched to 6-3-3-4 and spent an extra year. It wasn't funny then. The problem we have now in Nigeria is that there is a lot of religious and tribal insensitivity. There is also a lot of mutual suspicion. Our leaders need to be careful. Nigeria of today is very very different from 1984. |

sweetgala: I have no need to lie. I am telling my own story as it is. It's a pity it offends you. It was COMPULSORY and yes, I also learnt Arabic. I still remember some of the alphabets. We studied about 21 subjects in JS1 then; subjects such as Typing, Shorthand, History, Geography, Civic education etc. before the 6-3-3-4 system came into force. But not long after that, there was a new government and a new policy that made it optional, and also optional for Muslims to study CRK. The aim of Federal schools then was to integrate both religions and all tribes. Like I said in my earlier post, I hope its for a good motive. You are quick to claim that I will be judged, when you have already passed your own judgement lol. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by ohzee(f): 9:45pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
Sweetlemon: Yes I am in my forties and an "old" woman as you say. And yes it was compulsory to study it. I schooled in Benin. I hope I have answered your questions. If you read my earlier comments I said I hope the motive is ok. I attended a Federal School and the motive then was to expose children to both religions; I guess. I have a lot of Muslim friends from my secondary school days and of course friends from every tribe. I was reacting to uninformed posts here that it wasn't COMPULSORY. Like I said I pray its for the right reasons. When IRK was dropped, CRK was no longer compulsory for Muslims. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by ohzee(f): 6:57pm On Aug 03, 2015 |
dabriggs: Don't be deceived bro. It will be compulsory. History simply repeating itself. I studied IRK and Arabic in a Federal School in Js1. They claimed they were uniting Xtians and Muslims. It was scrapped by 1986. I don't know if there is any other motive. I sincerely hope not. I still remember the Aranic alphabet aliph, ba, ta, sa etc. I remember writing from right to left in my notebook. 2 Likes |

Yes I am not surprised one bit. Flashback to 1983/84 academic session. I was in JS1 in a Federal School in Benin and I studied Islamic Religious Studies and Arabic as compulsory subjects. Guess who was in power then? It's déjà vu. Those of us who experienced that era knew what we were saying when we talked about Islamization. If we protest now, they will say after all CRK is also being studied in schools. Ok oh.... No further comments 1 Like |
Politics / Re: President Says Ministers Won't Award Contracts Again by ohzee(f): 5:30pm On Jul 26, 2015 |
azimibraun: Due process had always existed. They were always empowered. All they ever did was slow down the whole process and at the end of the year, money for projects remain unspent and returned to the ministry for chopping. If only you knew the chain of corruption that trails each contract starting from NASS committees to minister to perm sec to budget office to board of parastatal to the contractor, you will know that ministers not awarding contracts is a cosmetic solution at best. |
Religion / Re: The Second Coming: A Failed Prophecy??? by ohzee(f): 3:25pm On Jul 26, 2015 |
Trying to understand every line of the bible LITERALLY doesn't work. It's not a textbook. Reading with faith and the guidance of the Holy Spirit is what brings true understanding. @op we Christians may not always make sense with our beliefs but we know them to be true because of the power we experience in our daily walk. |

You guys don't seem to get it. There are also many middle class Nigerian parents who work hard, plan early and save to send their kids to these expensive universities. People that live abroad start a college fund for their children while the children work hard to get scholarships. In Africa we prefer to buy asoebi and gold, show off multiple cars and houses. It's just a matter of choice, discipline and prayer I admire those children. They refused to let their parents wealth or position prevent them from studying 2 Likes |
