I see no surprises in this election. Participating parties have largely won where we expected them to win. |

mrjingles:Well spoken Mr Jingles. We need to get all the results in before we can say who actually won not just using few wards' result to conclude. I see final results which has been offiocially announced to be in tens of thousands but nairalanders are posing numbers here and there in 10s and 100s and making conclusion about who is leading. I hope we will not due to our initial conclusions and sentiments say the election is rigged if eventually PDP still has the majority senators because the way it looks now there has been little or no surprises at all. Initial polls (Thisday newspaper) predicted this. ACN/CPC has won where we all expected them to win and PDP has also won where we expected them. So we all need to be patient and wait for official pronuncement before going to town to celebrate which party. |
I was supporting BB before and i have been having doubts about his administrative/managarial competence but with this fact about metroline project i have changed my mind. Its GEJ for presido! Not Ribadu because he is not stable, he said before when he was in charge of EFCC that Tinubu's corruption is of international dimension but now it is the same Tinubu that is his party leader, so my question is what has changed since then? |
Pictures will help. Thanks |
Applicants beware!!!!! This seems like a scam to me for the following reasons: -No company will ask recruiter to collect money from applicants -What has Ghana got to do with JDZ that is just between Nigeria and Sao Tome and Principe? JDA (Joint development authority) will most likely not hire a Ghana based recruiter for this process. So guys check very well. Just my dime! |
Good submission papabrowne! Nigerians are so gullible to the extent that some actually belief that Jonathan (from Bayelsa) voted 4 times in Edo state. How possible is that? Someone ones said that ' a people deserve the kind of leaders that they get' and i believe its true for Nigeria. Our leaders/politicians realised that Nigerians are so gullible so they know what to use to get us with the help of the press, they use ethnicity, religion etc and lately by fighting OBJ publicly (Atiku and Tinubu turned to heroes for doing this). Nigerians need to be more discerning and properly review stories before taking positions as what seems to us in Nigerian politics as black may be white afterall or we get decieved and elect crooks pretending to be saints into elective positions and end up worse than where we are today. |
Still available and negotiable. |

meine:Exactly my thinking. IBB would have feared better than Atiku. IBB seems to enjoying more goodwill than this talkative Atiku. Anyway all things worketh for good for GEJ! |
Why not 2 houses in US to get 1 in Nigeria? Shouldn't the swap be based on the values of the houses in both locations? I bet you must be thinking that houses in US are always more expensive than in Nigeria, unfortunately not always e.g my 4bdrm detached duplex in Lekki will pay for 2 units of 4 bdrm detached duplexes in Richfield estate in Harris county , Houston. All the same its a bright idea if you can make it work. |
It is very unfortunate that Nigerians are very gullible. Lai Mohammend makes allegation and Nigerians quickly believe it? Why can't we also think of the flip side that it could be a ploy to appeal to our sentiments as Nigerians? Lai Mohammed is being paid to do that on behalf of ACN and unfortunately Nigerians are so gullible at least based on the kind on comments i am seeing here. But come to think of it I don't want to think that our gullibility is to the extent that we will believe Tinubu is a saint. Tinubu is as corrupt as any politician in Nigeria. As per Tinubu all you need to do is ask Surveyors on the Lekki Axis then you will hear stories, e.g Eko Akete estate etc. LCC doing the Lekki -Epe road is another reference point hence the tolling arrangement that is now Fashola's albatross. All we need do is if he is that clean then where is his companies/establishment that generates income for him to be the biggest financier of ACN at least in the SW? We need to get real and not emotional most times |
Lonewolf i mean, ( OJ2010:point of correction) |
Yinka 85 we are actually thinking alike! good post |
@poster I will say the decision to move back to Nigeria is more of a personal thing. Posts on nairaland should not have any bearing in coming to a decision because the circumstances of the posters will be different from yours and their comments and submissions will be based on their goals, aspirations, circumstances abroad etc. But i have to comment i will say it all depends on what you want in life. If you want to live average life of bills and taxes with little or no savings then abroad is fine but if you are very ambitious looking for opportunities to make it bigger then Nigeria is it when you get a fantastic offer. I can say there are more opportunities to make it big in Nigeria than a place like UK although you would have better quality of life in UK and i must say that if you have money in Nigeria you can reduce the discomfort of living in Nigeria greatly. So the decision to either live or relocate will be based on individual preferences. I live and work abroad presently as expat with a multinational oil company and i can tell you categorically that a Nigerian based staff my company is better of than Nigerians working for the same company on local terms in US financially even worse in UK (i.e salary, tax) so when i had offer to convert to the local payroll i turned it down and opted to go back to Nigeria at the end of my assignment. There are crimes everywhere even in UK, US. 2 Nigerians were recently killed in the US (one of them a nairalander Bawomolo), so when people scare you that you will be killed in Nigeria as if its only in Nigeria i just laughed. The question is how many of our family members that was killed in 2010? Also i am very suprised the way Nigerians abroad are screaming about N2m per month, its not out of place in Nigeria. At least i know that with a 10yr experience in the oil sector you should earn that comfortably and the tax will be like 20%. So Nigerians abroad expecially UK should wake up from thinking that their 40K-50K pounds p.a. in UK (before tax) is a big deal cos its not without sounding immodest. So in the nutshell the decision is personal. |
Exchange rate will soon turn to N10 to 1USD Got you guys there!!!! |
@Cap 28- Thanks for saying the truth. I know Nigerians for who we are will not own up to the fact that generally speaking abroad is not a 'bed of roses'. I have traveled far and wide due to the fact that i work for a multinational oil company and i am presently outside Nigeria for more than 1 yr now on cross-posting and what i can say is that there is no place like home. Over these years i have seen Nigerians living abroad or just 'existing' abroad doing all sorts of jobs that you can't even imagine and yet just 'existing'. How many of these nairalanders that can boast of making 60-70K pounds per annum in UK legitimately? I have a brother that has been living in the UK with his family for 5yrs and everytime i visit London i always tell him to finish his degree and go back home because he will better of in Nigeria as some of his mates in the university are far ahead of him now. I read a July 2009 JPT (journal of petroleum technology) magazine on job outlook where it was stated that many of the non-uk MSC Imperial college graduates 36 of 51 did not apply for jobs but decided to go back home What does it mean? 1.That people are getting to realise that you will be better of in your home country if you have the necessary competencies 2.There is nothing wrong in going abroad but strive to make yourself better by getting additional certification to position yourself for better opportunities at home. A lot of Nigerians are still wraped up in their memories of getting 1st degree at home and not getting employment for years and manage to get into UK and US and start working in TESCO, NHS, Walmat etc and just earning just enough to survive and they will be the first to tell you that can't come back home. How can they come back home when they have not been able to make themselves competitive? Based on my contacts with them a lot of Nigerians really want to come back home but they are not in a position to do that now because its almost too late. |
scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
eyesonyou:To further support your point SW states 2010 budget are as follow: Osun- N114bn Ogun- N88.09bn Ondo- N124bn Ekiti- N69.9bn Lagos- N429.59bn SE states as follows: Abia- N60bn Imo- N120bn Enugu- N67.8bn Ebonyi- N72.6bn Anambra- N67bn We should compare the economies of the two zones based on facts presented. Also we should bear in mind that the poster is not refering to the igbos as being poorer than other zones but rather the economies of the SE being not as robust as it should given the enterprising nature of the igbos. My take on this is that the igbos are the major contributors to the economies of other zones and it will help a lot better if this can be replicated in the SE as well so as to boost the economies. But i must say that it is not by building big mansions because that does not create jobs and wealth for the masses so its not a factor in assessing how robust an economy is. |
It is tolerance/understanding and not love. Love may take you into marriage but tolerance/understanding sustains the marriage, this much i know from my 7yrs of marriage experience. |
The posting of this pictures is very timely for me personally. I am resident in Port of Spain, Trinidad and the people here always think that Nigeria and by extension Africa is a village, very dirty based on the images from CNN and BBC. These pictures will come in handy to show that Trinidad and the Carribeans cannot even compare with Nigeria in-terms of developement. Exactly what i have been looking for! Thanks poster. |
I am interested as well. Could please send to ojandtina@gmail.com |
Its N4m OK? |
@ Debosky, God will bless you for your contribution on this topic. You have dealt with the issue with great wisdom. But i must say that this discussion is needless. And i believe strongly that God himself will arrest Tudor in his own time |
kawkab:Please tell them! sometimes i wonder if Nigerians understand simple english again. There was nothing in the story that says El Rufai revoked those plots and that he abused his office in the re-allocation. When the regulations says you cannot keep a plot undeveloped for a period of time and the period elapsed then appropriate action must be taken. So if the action is revocation then so be it. El Rufai acted within the ambit of the law and i see no reason why he is not innocent at least within the context of this story |
How is the estate presently? still in the planning stage? |
Infact why is the guy looking for salary information on Nairaland when all he needs to do is go pick the offer letter that will state the salary as applicable to him? Whatever info you get here may just be general information which you do not want to base your actual decisions on, you base your decisions on what a company is offering you and like someone said guys should not think its about the initial money you get. He should go pick the letter! |
To forgive or not? Can anyone tell me what you are going to do even if you don't forgive? nothing of course but if you say to yourself i forgive you then you psychologically take away bitterness from yourself and doing youself a lot of good in the process. If you forgive or not it does affect your emotions more than the person being forgiven. Just a word of wisdom! |
bawomolo:Exactly my point. EzeUche has always been always tribalistic in his analysis and that is not good for objectivity. |
EzeUche:Just like Zidane headbutting of opponent and was redcarded when the whole was watching? The point is Kaita's action was very un-professional but we all know that all these players do this once in a while and that is not enough for them to be hanged. |
EzeUche- how do you comment on the goal Obasi missed? do you forgive him for that? If he had scored that goal that may have changed the game back in our favour becuse the guys will have their confidence back |
