The parents of the girls should sue the Nigerian police force for not putting adequate measures in place to guard against this. |
Since it seems open letters are the best way to vent our anger these days, I have decided to write this. I haven’t been a fan of MTN right from day one but due to the miserable data plans offered by other networks, I decided to get an MTN line for Internet browsing because of their relatively cheap 4.5 GB data plan for 2,500 Naira (3 GB Night plan, 1.5 GB bonus daytime plan). Their network connectivity is fair and I haven’t really had any complaints until now. My data bundle got exhausted and I decided to renew it to do some important stuff so I bought six four hundred naira recharge cards and one hundred naira card to subscribe. As I tried loading the sixth four hundred naira recharge card, I kept getting error messages even though I had just scratched it and I’m very sure I inputted the correct digits. After about 4 recharge attempts, I got a service message saying “Sorry, you are now BARRED from this service, Please call 181”, I was like WTF. I dialled the 181 number and realised it was their self-service portal, after selecting English language option, the line simply went blank i.e. no response again, I waited for a minute and then cut the call. I called again and the same thing happened so i decided to call their main customer care line i.e. ‘180’. This turned out very bad, in fact bad is too good a word to describe the service. I called first and the line was disconnected quickly, I am used to this even from other networks but what annoyed me most was that after the first time, I called 5 more times and was told on each call that “There are x hundred and xx callers before you, your call will be answered in xx minutes” (usually 6 – 8 minutes). I waited for that time to elapse and even longer on each of the five calls but imagine my anger when after waiting for so long, no customer care agent picked my call and the computer simply terminated my call with this message “Thank you for using the MTN online customer care service, goodbye.” on all five occasions. I tried the line again at midnight and got the same result. Finally, the next morning after waiting for over 15 minutes, the call was answered and the issue resolved. I have used and still use other networks such as Airtel, Etisalat and Globacom and I have never been as frustrated with customer care as this. I hereby write this letter to MTN and other network providers to do something fast about the horrible state of this critical sector of their companies to avoid customer dissatisfaction. I have created a form to record the views of Nigerians on the quality of service of the various customer care centres of Network providers, MTN, Etisalat, Airtel and Glo. Please find the form and share your views HERE(https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1XXXt2yOQkSNrxFYmOnNLm-SUlm05CErXrLtr-BLC3dY/viewform?usp=send_form). I will share the results of the survey at the expiration of the form. Thank you. Yours sincerely, Edegbo Stephen, Tech Blogger, Nigeria Technology Hub, http://www.naijatechhub.com |

Microsoft is taking big steps to gain a firm position in the smartphone industry. The company yesterday 19th March 2015, announced a very cheap smartphone called Microsoft Lumia 430 with a price tag of just $70 (14,000 Naira). This move is directed specifically to emerging markets with low income earners as the phone has almost all the capabilities of more expensive smartphones. It is dual-SIM enabled and will be released in India, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and the Middle East in April 2015 with black and orange color options. The specs of the phone are on the low end but highly adequate for a $70 device. The phone uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset with a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and has 1GB of RAM, which should enable most applications run smoothly. The phone is more like a higher version of the Microsoft Lumia 530. It has a 4-inch, 800 x 480 LCD touchscreen, with a ppi of 235. Its internal memory is an impressive 8 GB and there is also a 128 GB capacity microSD card slot. Unlike the Lumia 530 it has a front camera (0.3 MP VGA model) and its rear camera is 2 MP. For connectivity, it has 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and also comes with 30 GB OneDrive free cloud storage. It uses a Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery with up to 720 hours 2G/3G standby time. This phone is a very nice option for those who want a good smartphone but have low budgets. Source: http://www.naijatechhub.com/2015/03/checkout-super-cheap-microsoft-lumia.html

GAME OF THRONES |
Maybe you are rude to guys who approach you so you dont get a chance to know them and start a relationship |
I'm wondering if its only me who has noticed that Airtel's monthly android bundle of 2000 naira for 2gb is not as it seems. On February 2nd, i bought it and by February 16th, it was finished and i didn't download with it. I checked the data usage chart on my phone for that period and i used only about 1.5gb. I just bought it yesterday again, used 158 mb and i discovered that my balance is 1812mb instead of (2048-158 = 1890mb). What do these companies hope to achieve by scamming people. |
I know a lot of people are having issues with data consumption on Android phones, some do not even want to buy Android phones because of this singular reason. Therefore I have written this article to help you conserve your precious internet bandwidth. The methods I use personally are outlined below. Activate 3G/H+ Only When Necessary: Most Android phones come with three internet connectivity speed modes namely: WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA only and GSM only. WCDMA simply means 3G or 3.5G or H+ and GSM simply means EDGE (E). In order to save my data, I only put on 'WCDMA/GSM' and 'WCDMA only' when I need high speed internet or when I'm downloading a large file otherwise GSM only is very okay for normal web surfing, receiving emails, Whatsapp messages, Facebook notifications, BBM and the like. I advise that you put yours on 'GSM only' by default. Restrict Your Background Apps Data: This is a very effective way of reducing data consumption because most apps use your internet data without your permission. To restrict, simply go to Settings - Connections - Data Usage, you will then see all the apps using your data. Simply click on any app you want to restrict and tick the Restrict background data box. There is a precaution to take here: Do not restrict background data on critical apps such as Email apps and Whatsapp. For other apps like Facebook, Instagram, etc, I advise that you restrict. Use Browsers Which Compress Webpages: Browsers such as Opera Mini and UC Browser have the ability to compress webpages thereby reducing the amount of data you spend opening webpages. When you add the data saved from each webpage you surf, you'll be surprised at the amount you have saved. You can add more to the list. Hi all, I saw some very impressive salaries on the Landmark University recruitment site, Here they are: Landmark University Academic Salary Structure (LUASS) – Annual Lecturer II without a Ph.D. (LUASS 08) = 1, 677,644 – 2,454,439 Lecturer II with a Ph.D. (LUASS 08a) = 1,814,460 – 2,540,726 Lecturer I without a Ph.D. (LUASS 10) = 2,144,827 – 3,343,503 Lecturer I (with PhD) (LUASS 10a) = 2,287,995 – 3,450,737 Senior Lecturer (LUASS 12) = 3,525,689 – 5,276,154 Associate Professor (LUASS 13) = 4,296,174 – 6,411,986 Professor (LUASS 14) = 5,214,361 – 7,678,074 Now my question is, are these salaries before tax or after tax, cos at a tax rate of 24%, these will shrink a bit. |
