Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will decide himself if he want to run for the presidency in 2023, says the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters, Office of the Vice President, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu. Ojudu, thereby, denied saying his principal would run for the Presidency in 2023. Some reports had claimed Sen. Ojudu had hinted at Osinbajo would run for the Presidency in 2023. Sen. Ojudu said such pronouncement was not his call, adding that only the Vice President would disclose if he has a presidential ambition or not. In a statement he signed, Ojudu, however, affirmed that Osinbajo was qualified to run for the Presidency in 2023. “My attention has been called to a quotation attributed to me that is trending. It was to the effect that Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President will run for the office of President in 2023. “First let me reiterate again, Prof. Osinbajo has not declared interest in the 2023 election, but he is rather focused on working in his capacity as Vice President in the current administration to address all the compelling issues in the country as well as concerns of Nigerians, including finding effective and lasting solutions to the security challenges and working to further boost the economy. “What happened was that I was in Port Harcourt where I had a private meeting with some friends and interest groups. While at the meeting discussing politics, economy and a number of other subjects of public interest and well-being of our country someone asked me if Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will run for President come 2023. “My answer to that enquiry was that he is eminently qualified to contest and will be the one to decide whether to do so or not at an appropriate time. “I concede that Nigerians are highly interested in knowing if Osinbajo will run. Everywhere I go that is the question people ask me and I have always tried to be careful in my response whether to an individual or groups. “While I appreciate and welcome the people’s love and admiration for Vice President Osinbajo, my counsel is we should all allow him to make the decision whether or not he is interested, by himself at the right time. It is certainly not a matter that will be pronounced at a private meeting such as the one I participated in earlier this week in Port Harcourt,” Ojudu said. https://www.thexpressng.com/2023-osinbanjoll-decide-to-run-for-president-buharis-aide

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has said that the Social Investment Programmes of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will accelerate the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria. The VP made the disclosure on Tuesday at the official launch of the ‘Review of Baseline Report and Realignment of the National Statistical System with SDGs, 2020,’ which held at the Statehouse Banquet Hall, Abuja. Osinbajo noted that Nigeria’s objective of achieving sustainable national development is consistent with the SDGs goals, “to engender an economically sustainable, socially inclusive and environmentally resilient world. “For Nigeria, and indeed Africa as a whole, the achievement of the SDGs is crucial to the task of ending poverty, hunger, and disease, and safeguarding our environment.” This is according to a statement by the VP’s spokesman, Laolu Akande titled, ‘Our Social Investment Programmes will accelerate Sustainable Development Goals – Osinbajo’. The statement quoted the United Nations’ report titled, ‘How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria’, noting that “since the adoption of the SDGs in September 2015, Nigeria has continued to demonstrate its commitment to achieving the global goals through leadership and ownership of the implementation process.” The VP emphasised the FG’s commitment, noting that Tuesday’s “ceremony marks the culmination of a process which began in 2016 for monitoring and evaluating the progress made in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria.” Osinbajo further noted that with the launch, Nigeria will be able to further track its progress annually on the SDGs. He observed that the implementation of the Federal Government’s social protection programmes was central to its vision for sustainable national development and achieving the SDGs. “This is why in May 2019, Mr. President made a public commitment to lifting approximately 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within a 10-year period. This is a national development priority, which again follows on the establishment of our social protection programmes, the largest Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) on the continent – and which by itself, is an attempt to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs across the country, “the VP affirmed. https://punchng.com/social-investment-programmes-will-accelerate-sdgs-in-nigeria-osinbajo/

President Muhammadu Buhari, his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo and other top government officials yesterday got vaccinated with booster jabs in order to enhance their protection against the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The President got the jab in the Presidential Villa just as the Director-General of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr.Faisal Shuaib, disclosed that other senior government officials, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha and some ministers have received theirs. Shuaib in an interaction with State House Correspondents after supervising the jab on the President, counselled against vaccine hesitancy, insisting that the jabs were safe and efficacious. According to him, the President taking the booster jab alongside other senior government officials had demonstrated that the vaccine was safe. Shuaib said over eight million Nigerians have already taken the jab adding that doing so gives considerable immunity against the rampaging Omicron variant of COVID-19. The NPHCDA boss disclosed that COVID-19 infection has become a disease of the unvaccinated hinting that available data revealed that 8 out of every 10 dead victims of the disease were unvaccinated. https://www.newtelegraphng.com/omicron-buhari-osinbajo-others-receive-booster-jabs-2/

Thousands of people came out to welcome Osinbajo in Daura for the president's son Tulban |
A support group of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo Presidency in 2023 has commended the Emir of Daura, Dr. Farouk Umar, for his comment on the vice-president. The Emir of Daura at the weekend described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a noble and trustworthy person who keeps his promises. The traditional ruler expressed his view at the turbaning ceremony of Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari as Talban Daura and district head of Kwasarawa community. However, the group, Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) in a statement it issued on Sunday said the non-partisan statements extolling the leadership attributes of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has further reinforced the commitment of members of the Progressive Consolidation Group (PCG) towards actualising an Osinbajo Presidency in 2023,” leaders of the group have said. According to PCG, their outing in Katsina and the warm reception given to Osinbajo by the masses and royalty speaks volumes about what people with good foresight should expect in 2023. “The revered royal father’s objective and very positive comments extolling the positive attributes of the vice-president, further reinforces convictions about the fatherly wisdom of the Emir of Daura, and the genuine leadership qualities of Professor Osinbajo https://www.newtelegraphng.com/2023-group-commends-emir-of-dauras-choice-of-osinbajo/ |
