The State Commissioner for Police, Aderemi Adeoye, who described the community as one of the most peaceful in Anambra State, pledged that the police would support the security outfit with retraining and security empowerment aside what they have already acquired from the Civil Defence.

He, however, charged them to respect the people fundamental human rights, especially the right to life and movement, as well avoid been used for thuggery, perpetuate crimes and other selfish ambitions.

"You must remember that it is only the court that has the right to pronounce someone guilty of crimes. If you arrest anyone, endeavour to hand him or her over to the police for investigations to ascertain if the person actually committed the crime or not. Do not take laws into your hands.

" Kindly eschew personal interest while carrying out the work of security. You must guide against been used by anyone against any person because if you commit a crime while carrying out wrong order you will be the one to face the charge not the person who ordered you. Don't do what is unlawful for whatever reason," he added.

Contributing, another illustrious son of the soil, Mr Nnamdi Ndubueze, commended the committee for a well thought out project, noting that he was optimistic that all their plans would succeed because Nri has capacity and manpower to achieve whatever course they wished to embark on.

Politics / Tinubu Help Me Recover My Multi-billion Naira Estate Destroyed At Abuja, Develop by okeychris(m): 3:05pm On Mar 28
Prince and Princess Ltd, developer of properties at a multi billion naira estate belonging to Praco Ltd has sent a passionate appeal to President Bola Tinubu to urgently intervene in the unlawful demolition of it's property located at Pot 581 E27 Cadastral Zone, Kugbo- Abuja.

The Developer disclosed that officials of the Federal Capital Development Agency, acting on the orders of the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, had on Wednesday 27th March, 2024, invaded the project site with a detachment of over 300 security personnel including the Army, the Navy, the Police and many others, and destroyed the properties.

The said property has the registration number: FCDA/DC/BP/ASD/29163 validly approved by the FCT authorities for development.

Court processes showed that the demolition was against the subsisting judgements of courts and valid order of Interim Injunction by Justice Eleojo Enenche of the FCT High Court 44, Wuse Zone 2, issued on the 22nd of March, 2024 and served on the Minister, FCDA, the Deed Registrar of the FCDA, the Director of Urban and Regional Planning, security agencies and many others.

The Order was to restrain the defendants, who include the minister, the FCDA and the rest from demolishing or destroying the developer’s properties, which include infrastructure and house on Plot 582 Kukwaba, 542 Kukwaba, 454 Guzape, 455 Guzape, 456 Guzape, 458 Guzape, 1577 Guzape, 4577 Maitama A6 Ltd, 5044 Maitama A6, 2444 Gwarinpa, 505 Wuye, 2129 Garki 1, 4143 Jikoyi, 4145 Jikoyi, 4147, 4149, 524 Kukwaba, 527 Kukwaba and 3037 Asokoro.

The court recognized that the developer had put the properties on the afore-mentioned land after securing the defendants’ approval upon payments of the necessary fees pending the determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

According to the Managing Director of the company developing the estate, Dr. Barr Chukwudubem Ezekwelu, it was worrisome that the Minister would order the FCDA to demolish the property even when the Motion on Notice fixed for hearing on 9th April 2024, is yet to be heard.

Ezekwelu also revealed that the owner of the property Praco International Limited, had earlier on the 7th of July, 2023, received the certificate for the Restoration of the Right of Occupancy for the land from the then FCT Minister, pursuant to a court order in Suit No FCT/HC/M/2318/2022.

In spite of all these certifications, Ezekwelu revealed that the FCDA officials invaded the property early Wednesday 27th March around 6am and continued demolishing the properties till afternoon when they suddenly pulled out.

Regretting the FCDA’s flagrant flouting of the court’s orders, the legal practitioner noted that there was no prior notice of demolition, nor were there any letters, court order or warning whatsoever from the FCDA before they embarked on the unlawful act.

“These demolitions were done against the valid order of the FCT High Court, which was duly served on the development control, the FCDA and the Office of the FCT Minister.

“This is the highest level of impunity, high handedness , Executive rascality ,disregard for the rule of law, judiciary & constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria,” he fumed.

Barr Ezekwelu expressed worry that the FCDA could destory such huge investment worth over N10billion, and aplealed to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu to immediately intervene to stop the lawlessness and impunity and save the massive investment of patriotic nigerians, as well as protect the integrity of the judiciary.

“Mr President needs to intervene urgently in this matter to restore the confidence of Nigerians and even expatriates in investing in the country.

“It is worrisome that the Minister will by this act of high-handedness, be making a mess of Mr President’s call to well-meaning Nigerians to invest in the country.

“It also beckon on all well-meaning Nigerians, the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and the National Judicial Council, NJC, to call Barr Nyesom Wike and other co-perpetrators of this illegality to order to avoid driving away both local foreign investors from the nigerian economy” Ezekwelu posited.

The exparte motion was drawn from a suit filed by Engr. Success Obioma, Praco International Ltd, Psalm 127 Ltd, and Peace Be Still Ltd, (Claimants) against the FCT Administration.

Politics / Anambra Govt Refutes False Stories On Ochanja-iweka Road Damaged By Flood by okeychris(m): 9:05am On Mar 27
The Anambra State Government has addressed misinformation circulating online concerning the Moore Street -Iweka Road project passing through Ochanja in Onitsha, Anambra state.

A recent video trending on social media and recycled by mainstream media depicts a washed-out portion of the road due to flood, accompanied by false claims that the road was poorly constructed and commissioned weeks ago by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR.

We categorically state that these claims are not true.

Following heavy rainfall on Monday 25, March 2024, which caused uprooted trees, downed electrical poles, and damage to public infrastructure across the state, a section of the Moore Street -Iweka Road, currently under construction was alleged to be affected.

Contrary to the misrepresentations of the viral video and accompanying insinuations, that a portion of the road was washed off. This is completely false.

What happened was that the contractor was laying the last bit of asphalt on the paver when it started to rain, and the base course on which the asphalt was laid was wet.

When the contractor noticed that the base course was wet, he cut off the portion that was laid on the wet surface and used it to fill the adjoining street, ( MENAX Road) of which the mischief maker video captured as part of the roads commissioned.

The cut off section is less that 600mm. This cutting of asphalt laid on wet surface is in line with the best practice and shows the compliance with international standards

It is important to state the flood occasioned by the heavy downpour and the flood from the blocked culvert did not affect the road pavement of the road as laid and witness by all

Thus the trending video deliberately includes misleading footage of a different, already existing road that is not under construction.

The Moore Street -Iweka Road project is neither finished nor commissioned by Governor Soludo. He has only commissioned the Port Harcourt Road and Niger Street Road in Onitsha South LGA, both of which are demonstrably well-built and functional.

We urge the public to disregard the misinformation campaign accompanying the misleading video. It is a blatant attempt to distort reality and spread fake news.

Governor Soludo is firmly committed to delivering high-quality road infrastructure that will stand the test of time.
Politics / Soludo's Second Term Bid No Longer Possible Due To Underperformance, Ozigbo by okeychris(m): 9:44am On Mar 25
By Okechukwu Onuegbu

A Labour Party (LP) stalwart and former governorship candidate in Anambra State, Monday, ruled out possibility of governor Chukwuma Soludo to win the 2025 State gubernatorial poll.

Ozigbo, in a wake-up video calls addressed to his brother and APGA led Government, said he was not impressed over Soludo's underperformance within two years as against what the likes of governor Oti had done within ten months in office at Abia State.

According to the former President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Transcorp Plc, his view of Soludo's led government was in consonance with believe other Anambra residents across 21 Council Areas because the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor had become a disappointment to many.

"Certainly not impressed and I believe I speak the mind of Ndi Anambra especially after conducting polls across all the 21 LGAs (Local Government Areas).”

Lamenting that Soludo lacks durable solutions to the challenges facing the State, Ozigbo dared him to come clean in the area of road construction and publish the contract sum and let's know the average cost per kilometer and let's benchmark this appropriately.”

With this, Anambra people will be sure that “the cost of ‘Soludo and sons' (contractors) is not even higher than using Julius Berger. Some of the roads you brag about had been 60% completed but you sure know how to take glory and swallow the thank you.”

Expressing regret that Soludo has failed in “the primary role and the most important need” of providing security, Ozigbo noted that the State is still bedeviled by “kidnappings, killings and destruction of houses and palaces,” stating that even the Governor’s LGA of Aguata and many parts of Orumba, Ihiala, “from Lilu to Mbosi to Orsumoghu to Isseke, in Amichi, Ukpor, Nnewi etc, In Ogbaru, Onitsha and Awka,” suffer untold insecurity.

The full video reads: “Dear Gov. Soludo: I have always resisted the urge to take you up on many things you failed to do or did wrongly. I thought we should stand aside and watch, especially as taking advice is not one of your strengths and therefore, by speaking up, I may even be blamed for your distraction.

"So, I wanted Ndi Anambra to have a good feel of you and your governance for the first half of your entire tenor. Now is the best time, in my opinion, to hold you accountable by asking some basic questions; How have you fared in your first 2 year? Which sectors matter: Security, Economy, Transportation including roads, Education, Health and Agriculture.

“How have you managed critical institutions like civil service, traditional institutions, religious institutions, town unions, trade unions etc. How have you improved on important cities like Onitsha, Ogbaru, Nnewi, Awka, Nkpor, Obosi, Ekwulobia etc.

“How have you fared in other important areas that will improve the lives of our young ones and women like sports, technology, entertainment, etc.
“I am certainly not impressed and I believe I speak the mind of Ndi Anambra especially after conducting polls across all the 21 LGAs.

“When it comes to Security, this is the primary role and the most important need. How do we end the kidnappings, killings and destruction of houses and palaces. In recent times, we have witnessed these in Aguata, your own LG, in Orumba, in many parts of Ihiala, from Lilu to Mbosi to Orsumoghu to Isseke, in Amichi, Ukpor, Nnewi etc, In Ogbaru, Onitsha and Awka.

“Where is safe in Anambra? We must tell ourselves the truth. And this is not to lament about the problem. It is also to point to the right direction. We don't discuss security strategies openly, but we had situation like this in the past and Peter Obi solved it.

“Go and ask him how he engaged traditional institutions and security agencies to solve this problem. Go to Abia and ask Alex Otti how kidnappings have almost ended there. Learn what you need to do as a State, and how to align with other governors in the region and draw strength from the centre. I won't say more than this for now.

“On economy, our young talents are migrating abroad and our businesses are finding home in Enugu, Asaba and Aba. Why? What have you done to term the tide and improve Anambra’s competitiveness? How is poverty rate trending? Solve the power problem, security problem and reduce thuggery and then work on more roads and see magic happen in Anambra.

“Talking about roads, while we acknowledge this is important and your little contribution here, this is the easiest thing state governments do. So, there is nothing unique about building few kilometer roads but today's modern government must go beyond roads and do more creative things to enhance prosperity. And when it comes to road, let it not be that you do this because this is the easiest conduit to steal money.

“So, we will need you to come clean. Publish the contractors, the contract sum and let's know the average cost per kilometer and let's benchmark this appropriately. We need to be sure the cost of Soludo and sons is not even higher than using Julius Berger. Some of the roads you brag about had been 60% completed but you sure know how to take glory and swallow the thank you.

“I do not want this letter to be too long and therefore, I will be speaking on each of the important sectors separately. So, please get ready to be held accountable. This is my duty as an Anambra citizen desperate to see my State become better.

“Let me end this by asking that you also realise governance isn't a family business and one man show. You need critical stakeholders to be part of critical decision making. You cannot know it all no matter how much you think you know.

"You need to stay humble and learn to listen to other views, including the opposing ones. This is how you can improve on your human relationships, a key ingredient to governing Anambra well.
“If you continue like this, you dare not ask for 2nd term, how much more deserve it. We should not reward failure.”

Education / Anambra’s Out-of-school Children Best Score And Soludo’s Educational Impact by okeychris(m): 6:34pm On Mar 21
By our reporter

In the complex landscape of Nigeria’s educational system, where challenges often loom large, Anambra State stands out as a leading light of hope and excellence, shining its brilliance on the path of countless young minds.

At the helm of this transformative journey is the State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, whose vivid vision and sterling commitment to education has heralded a new era of enlightenment and opportunity.

It is a new, bright dawn that keeps unraveling. Anambra’s ascent from the shadows of educational disparity to the pinnacle of excellence is not a tale of accident, but a narrative scripted with deliberate and intentional reforms with visionary leadership.

The recent revelation by TheCableIndex, showcasing Anambra’s remarkable feat of recording the lowest out-of-school children (aged 6–15) score of 2.9% across Nigerian states with scores as high as 67.6%, reflects the impact of the efficacy of Governor Soludo’s policies and reforms.

Central to this feat is the abolition of barriers to education through the commencement of a Free Education policy by Governor Soludo, a bold stroke that struck at the heart of financial impediments hindering access to learning.

From early childhood care to the corridors of junior secondary schools, the spectre of hidden fees and levies has been banished, ensuring that every child, regardless of socio-economic background, can embark on the journey of knowledge without shackles.

But Governor Soludo’s vision extends far beyond mere accessibility; it encompasses a holistic revitalisation of the educational ecosystem. Secondary education, once a steep dream for many, has been brought within reach through a thoughtful reduction in fees, slashed by a staggering 98% to a nominal sum of N5,000 for Senior Secondary Schools while from primary to Junior secondary school remain totally free

This shift not only paves the way for a brighter future but also underscores the state’s salient commitment to nurturing talent and potential.

Crucially, the bedrock of any educational renaissance lies in the calibre of its teachers. Recognising this, Governor Soludo has since orchestrated an unprecedented recruitment drive, once enlisting 5,000 qualified teachers of impeccable merit to fortify the ranks of education’s vanguard. This infusion of talent elevates the standard of teaching as well as instills a renewed sense of purpose and dedication among the educational circle.

Yet, the winds of change blowing through Anambra’s educational landscape are not confined to the conventional realm. Embracing the digital age with open arms, technology has been seamlessly integrated into the learning experience, transforming classrooms into vibrant hubs of innovation and engagement.

Dilapidated schools, once symbols of neglect, are being reborn as modern sanctuaries of learning, fostering an environment conducive to the cultivation of knowledge and creativity.

Moreover, Governor Soludo’s vision extends beyond the confines of the classroom, encompassing a comprehensive overhaul of the educational paradigm. A renewed focus on professional development seeks to restore pride and excellence to the teaching profession, while a revamped curriculum ensures that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge requisite for the challenges of the digital era.

At the heart of all this transformation lies a commitment to accountability and community empowerment.

Through the establishment of Public-Community-Private Partnerships (PCPP) by Governor Soludo, Anambra communities are empowered to actively participate in school management, fostering a sense of ownership and stewardship.

Meanwhile, a competitive remuneration structure also ensures that teaching emerges not merely as a vocation but as a window of opportunity, attracting the best and brightest to its fold.

Thus, in the evolving Nigeria’s educational narrative, Governor Charles Soludo’s stewardship of Anambra State is proving to be a benchmark in the transformative power of visionary leadership.

Through his tireless dedication to education, he has not only kindled the flames of learning but has also ignited the sparks of excellence in the state.

As Anambra charts its course towards a future brimming with promise and possibility, it does so with the indelible imprint of Governor Soludo’s legacy guiding its path!

Politics / Soludo Mulls Plan For New City Along Amansea, Ufuma Route by okeychris(m): 12:40am On Mar 20
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has hinted that a new city will emerge along the newly built 26.4 kilometres Amansea-Ntoko-Ndiukwuenu-Awa-Ufuma road.

Governor Soludo stated this during the commissioning of the road where members of the various communities he visited who are connected to the long stretch of roads thronged the venues of the brief ceremonies in their numbers. They all dance in excitement to receive the Governor's entourage.

The Governor explained that building "One Anambra" is the agenda, irrespective of social stratification, political party affiliation or religious inclination, pointing out that APGA's major concern is to lift everyone out of poverty in tandem with its mantra of "be your brother's keeper".

According to the Governor, the late Mr. Joe Anatune who hailed from Awa was the first person that hinted about the strategic importance of the road, recalled that he promised to construct the road during Mr. Anatune's funeral ceremony, emphasizing that completing the road is in fulfillment of the promise he made in his memory.

Governor Soludo stressed that after assumption of office, his government did not start work from the areas that voted highly for him, but from local government areas where he narrowly lost, where there is greatest need.

He reminded them during campaign, their major request was for his government to construct the road, adding that the commissioning calls for celebration.

For the Transition Committee Chairman for Orumba North, Sir Ogochukwu Ekwueme, said the people of Orumba North will ever remain grateful and continue to pray and support the Governor and his team.

Others who spoke during the event include the Traditional Ruler of Awa, Igwe Israel Ezue, President General of Awa, Chief Raymond Ofor, President General of Ufuma, Rtd. Commodore Clement Ofor described the road project as fulfilment of a promise.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Barr. Joachin Anaeto, Deputy Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Chukwuma Okoye, member representing Orumba North at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Paul Obu, Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma, Chief Protocol officer, Hon Chinedu Nwoye, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, among others.

Cutting of the tape by motorcyclists, keke, shuttle bus drivers and the late Joe Anatune's wife, formed the highpoint of the event.

Politics / Labour Party's Attack On Reps Caucus Tactless, Uncharitable by okeychris(m): 5:28pm On Mar 19
BY BONIFACE Okeke

The media attack against the House of Representatives Labour Party caucus, by the yet to be confirmed Publicity Secretary of the party, Obiora Ifoh, has been described as tactless, unprofessional, devoid of emotional intelligence and unbecoming of a party official who is still on an acting capacity.

This was contained in a statement by Mr. Edward Dibiana, Media Adviser to the House of Reps Labour Party caucus Leader, Hon. Afam Victor Ogene, in Abuja, on Tuesday, in response to the earlier statement by Ifoh.

The LP Caucus in the House of Representatives had on Sunday called on the party's national leadership to postpone the proposed national convention of the Party, which was scheduled for month end, in order to allow room for wider consultations and proper planning, given the internal bickering among the leadership and the fact that many stakeholders, including the lawmakers, were not carried along in the processes leading to the choice of date and venue for the convention.

However, rather than respond to the call for further consultations and proper planning raised by Hon. Ogene, Ifoh, strangely went on a disgraceful tirade, accusing the caucus Leader of lying to the public that the caucus was not informed about the contentious convention and "Rushing to the press to misinform" members of the party. He also referred to the lawmaker as "Unknowledgeable as it relates to the constitution of the party under which he was elected."

According to Dibiana, Ifoh has by this "Unprofessional, tasteless and infantile outburst - which is fast becoming his trademark - failed to represent LP in a manner that supports a capacity, strategic thinking and emotional intelligence disposition that the position of a party's spokesman demands."

He said further that, "The job of a party spokesman, like that of every other public communications expert, is not only to issue press statements, but essentially, to help promote the image and integrity of the party, through application of sense of propriety in conduct and delivery of information of public interest, in a manner that would attract support and goodwill for the party across party lines and beyond, rather than embarrass the party at every turn by making a joke of the responsibility of a publicity secretary and creating more problems for the people you serve, by always playing to the gallery, in the name of "I was directed."

"Ifoh claimed that the caucus was informed about the convention, but it would be good for him to support such allegation with any official document, communicating same to the lawmakers. A side gossip and official communication are never the same.

"It is also very insensitive and disappointing for Ifoh, who was only hurriedly brought in to fill in a gap in an acting capacity to dismiss the call for "proper planning and wider consultations", by the Labour Reps as "a mischief taken too far."

"One of the distinguishing factors between a trained, ready and independent mind and someone who refuses to rise to the occasion even when opportunity comes on a platter, is public conduct. If, for the sake of argument, one is to believe the argument that Ifoh was 'directed' to issue such infantile statement by his masters, civility and candour requires that he ought to go on such ill-advised errand with the decorum and tact of a professional.

"Ifoh, perhaps, would understand the intrigues and politics of beat reporting, than the finesse of public communication and would most certainly not understand Hon. Ogene's "kind of politics,".

"For instance, as Leader of the Labour Caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ogene needs to balance the strategic interests of his constituents, his colleagues in the House and other Stakeholders, whilst Ifoh only owes responsibility to his paymasters, for whom he solely functions as an destructive agent against the party and its stakeholders, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who he also attacked recently.

"Was it not the same Ogene who galvanized the caucus members in support of Barrister Julius Abure, when he was arrested and dehumanised like ordinary criminal last month?

"For starters, Ifoh cannot possibly address himself as National Publicity Secretary, having not been elected to any such office. Or has he procured a back door confirmation of the position that he now addresses himself as a substantive National Publicity Secretary?

"Who would even take the Labour Party seriously when less than two weeks to the unilaterally fixed convention, no planning committee has been empanelled, no delegates have been named, and know one knows who is running for what office, and worse of all, party members remain in the dark? Yet Ifoh and his enablers are fixated only on those they feel are not respecting Abure. Enough of this charade."
Education / Physically Challenged UNIZIK Staff Lament Over 5 Years Unpaid Salary by okeychris(m): 10:13am On Mar 19
BY Boniface Obi

A group of ten physically challenged staff members of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, Anambra state has lamented that unpaid salaries of their members outstanding for about five years now has compounded their natural pitiable condition.

Spokesperson of the group, Mr. Onwukwuwe Chijioke told Factcheckng that since five years after they concluded documentation of their employment by the university they have not still been paid salaries.

He appealed to all influencial members of the public to prevail on the Vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Charles Esimone to approve payment of their salaries.

Onwukwuwe decried that the prevailing harsh economic situation in the country coupled with the their unpaid salaries is taking breathe out of their lives.

Onwukwuwe stated that since December 2020 the federal government's Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System, IPPIS, implementation commenced, even though members of his group have been properly captured in the salary payment arrangement of the university none of them has been receiving salaries.

He lamented that his colleagues have made several trips to Abuja where they visited the relevant ministries to sort out the logjam, yet they have not been able to be receiving their salaries.

"Those of us who have families are even worse off in our present situation because meeting family needs has become extremely difficult for us", he lamented further.
Politics / Soludo Stop Your Commissioner From Intimidating Our Community, Anambra Stakehold by okeychris(m): 8:49am On Mar 19
Stakeholders from Urum, Awka North LGA, Anambra State, Tuesday, implored governor Chukwuma Soludo to stop the Commisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affiars, Hon TonyCollins Nwabunnwanne from allegedly intimidating them.

The stakeholders, arising from an emergency meeting, following cancellation of their successfully held town union poll held on 30th December 2023 and plan by Nwabunwanne who has also announced 30th of March, 2024 to conduct fresh elections for the community.

They viewed the commissioner's new move as insult and act of intimidation and urged the Governor to rather set up an independent election review committee to consider the cancelled election as that would bring peace, as well as prevent the crisis that could ignite unimaginable crisis in the community.

The Stakeholders spoke through Chief Ignatius Nnaemeka, Chairman, Urum in Diaspora and Chief Matthew Nwodo, Chairman Urum Concerned Citizens as well as Chief Ozo Loius Umegbolu, Chairman Urum Elders Forum.

The Urum community Stakeholders insisted that the best option for Urum Community now is for a government review Committee answerable to the Governor to first understand the position of things, then brief the Governor before future directives.

According to them, the committee shall be independent of the commisioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affiars, Hon Nwabunnwanne because he has been compromised on the matter.

The Stakeholders believed that though they have all the evidence requested by Commissioner Nwabunnwanne, it will be inimical to the peace they wished in their community to start throwing evidence around since they trusted Governor Soludo shall set up a committee to investigate the Urum imbrogilo.

They insisted that since the commissioner came out to deny what he had earlier said that Governor Charles Soludo did not have hands in the election crises that erupted during and after the election, it won't be reasonable to push that line further but to call on Governor Soludo to set an unbiased committee to get all parties report of the election.

The Stakeholders warned Nwabunnwanne to stop mobilizing Urum People to speak in favour of his planned elections as if the community is divided, but to do the needful as an uncompromised umpire.

"This our position is because Urum as a community will not like to exchange words with our amiable Governor in public rather we are calling on Soludo to weld into the case by setting up an independent committee to investigate all that transpired during and after the election and be convinced that we are justified by our demands".

According to the Urum Stakeholders: " We are shocked that the Governor was not aware of what happened in Urum and the claims by Commissioner Nwabunnwanne which led to cancellation of our election 3 months after. The Commissioner claimed that Governor Soludo cancelled the election only to recant that Governor Soludo wasn't aware.

" We are therefore calling on our capacity Governor to set up a commission of inquiry where every evidence we have will be submitted because TonyCollins, the commisioner, was compromised. We don't see the possibility of getting Justice from him.

"We are calling on the Governor to set up committee of inquiry for Urum because if Urum community is in crises, Anambra State will also be in crises, no matter how small the community is, it should not be allowed even if from government agent.

The Stakeholders informed Governor Soludo that his Commissioner has failed in his duty of maintaining peace in Urum Community.

They restated their readiness to submit all the documents required because all the documents are in their disposal, noting that because Soludo's government is a responsible Government, the community will not bring some private documents to the public.

Urum Stakeholders wondered why Commissioner Nwabunnwanne after receiving reports from a committee he sent to monitor the election immediately after the election, did not cancel the election until 3 months after.

They insisted a winner was announced before the looser started fermenting crisis.

The Stakeholders queried the power the Commissioner has to cancel a community"s election after almost 3 months. They challenged Tonycollins to provide the law that empowered him to cancel the election.
They explained further: "Who gave him the power? The law states that when a town wants to conduct an election, the town will come up with electoral committee, notify the government to supervise the election. The law did not ask the government to come and conduct election. The ministry does not come to conduct election but to supervise.

"You can only write what you saw and when there are issues you call parties to mediate, you don't go out later to cancel the election without informing both parties your findings and reasons.

So, that announcement for a fresh election in Urum was a premeditated and compromised stance on the part of Commissioner TonyCollins Nwabunnwanne which is ill intended. That announcement is capable of destroying the peace in the community.

The Stakeholders described his several lies in his press statement and mobilizing of some Urum sons to speak in his favour as childish and uncalled for as all his efforts were targeted at engineering crisis in Urum.

The community denied ever getting directives from the government or Commissioner Tonycollins to discuss the election outcome but a directive for the winner of the election with Stakeholders to go and beg the loser before he can issue certificate of recognition which he had written to the winner.

They wondered why an election with DSS report, Police report, report of the team Commissioner Tonycollins sent to monitor and other reports were submitted to a government agent and powerful Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs since December 30th, 2023, yet he has not deemed it fit to interrogate all those who participated in the election and initiate measures to punish those who perpetuated violence after the election against a peace accord signed, only to cancel the election, in the comfort of his office.

"We have seen that the Commissioner is compromised. The winner of the election's house was partially destroyed. The AVG chairman’s house destroyed and looted and some people were injured. What did the commissioner do to those that caused the crisis after announcement? The only thing he came out to do is to say that they will cancel the election".

'To us, we see it as deliberate action to cause crisis in Urum community and we don't want it, because, all these contestants are brothers. If he feels as an external person he can come and cause crises in Urum , It will not work and he cannot make us to hate each other.

"Governor Soludo can call on DSS and police for their reports on the election. The Governor can also call on those that came from the ministry even if they will lie to His Excellency, We have evidence".

"We conducted our election based on our constitution and mind you, every community has it's constitution. There is no uniformity of constitutions for communities in Anambra State".

"As he continues to peddle lies against our community, mind you that there is no place in our constitution where electing those in small position comes first . We have been conducting elections over the years. What we do and announce to everybody is the positions that were unopposed which would be written and submitted and that was announced by returning officer and there was only two positions that were under contest. The Constitution is what guides us and he will not cancel Urum election just like that after 3 months and fix Match 30th as new date for election neglecting the position of Urum town union stand on dates of election.

The Commissioner only invited Urum Community on February 29,2024 but because of exco meeting they had with Mr. Governor that day, it was moved to 1st day of March 2024. In that meeting he told us in the presence of everybody including Chinedu to beg Chinedu so that he will release certificate of recognition ro the winner.

While saying all that, Chinedu started agitating and he advised us to go and beg him, that it was better to beg Chinedu than to have the election canceled.

"For the past two months after the election, Commissioner Nwabunwan never called us, instead we were the ones prevailing on him, they concluded.

"Anyone saying the election was conducted twice was not speaking the truth. The election was not conducted twice. It was counting that was disrupted and continued, after which results were announced", they concluded.

Politics / 654 Anambra Schools Participating In Igbo Dance / Drama Competition by okeychris(m): 5:23pm On Mar 15
NKIRU NWAGBO AWKA.

A total of 654 Primary and Secondary Schools would be participating in the Igbo Dance and Drama Competition in Anambra state.

Similarly, Proprietors and stakeholders in the Educational and Entertainment sector have been charged to encourage the reading and studying of Igbo proverbs, norms and values among the up coming generation in order to protect the future of Igbo language and culture.

According to Ms Ify Nweri the founder and sponsor of the Maiden Edition of Ifemeluigbo Dance and Drama Competition held at Enugwu Agidi community Secondary School in Njikoka local government area of Anambra , the Maiden Edition is the flag off of the project which would be replicated in all the Primary and Secondary Schools in the area.

She noted that early childhood development must include the teaching and encouraging of the children to take part in show casing the culture and traditions of their people in order to build self confidence among them .

"We must understand that "play" significantly impacts a child's development and is deeply rooted in cultural traditions. The aim of this program is to support our young people in showcasing their cultural creative arts talent and teach them how to develop a more profound appreciation for their cultural identity, as well as shape their cultural values"

"They also help in their physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Children who engage in traditional dance and activities are likely to have better memory retention and cognitive flexibility. Our Igbo cultural play and dance often involve memorising steps and patterns; this helps improve children's memory and cognitive skills"

"When we support our children in showcasing their creative skills, we give them the leeway to learn to express themselves creatively, which can help them build self-confidence and self-esteem. They also learn to work together in groups, cooperate with others, and communicate effectively"

"During Igbo cultural play activities, children can build their self-confidence, express their identity, and surpass their usual abilities, tendencies that are not always achievable in non-play environments"

"This is just a tip of the iceberg. This program will go round Anambra State, covering over 266 secondary schools and over 388 primary schools in Anambra State because people without knowledge of their history, origin, and culture are like trees without roots"

"Play is therapeutic, particularly for children. Creative arts activities like cultural dance and drama are ways children can express themselves and heal from a traumatic incident or inner childhood trauma"

Speaking earlier the Principal of Enugwu Agidi Secondary School Mrs Thecla Azubuike expressed optimism that the program would go a long way in discovering young talents among school children.

"What took place here is remarkable and also symbolic in view of the fact that some children who are gifted in entertainment would leverage of it to excell in life and I wish to urge my colleagues to key into this program because everyone would not be involved in white collar jobs"

"Also our Town Union leaders and Traditional Rulers should also encourage such a program to save the culture and traditions of the Igbo people from going into extinction"; she said.

Politics / Soludo Commissions Port Harcourt/niger Street Roads, Promise More Infrastructure by okeychris(m): 11:35am On Mar 14
Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, of Anambra State has Commissioned the the 5.1 km Port-harcourt Street and Niger Street Onitsha in, Onitsha South Local government area.

Performing the function, Governor Soludo highlighted the significance of the road to Onitsha residents and environs being the largest commercial hub in West Africa, noting that his government is deliberate about regenerating Onitsha to its former glory.

The Governor who noted that 247 kilometres of roads have so far being completed out of the 450 kilometres of roads awarded across the state, maintained that the roads are guaranteed to last a minimum of 20 years

Crime / Anambra To Punish SASA Operatives Following Trending Videos On Brutalisation Of by okeychris(m): 11:24am On Mar 14
Anambra State government has said that it would punish the officers of SASA involved in a trending video where one Wilfred Ezike also known as Mgbiligba was been manhandled.

The State Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Mr Chikodi Anarah, who disclosed this in a statement, said he felt bad over the incident.

His statements read:
"I have been alerted to a viral video on the arrest and manhandling of one Wilfred Ezike, also known as Mgbiligba by SASA operatives. I really feel bad that an incident of that nature took place. I have felt bad all through the day since somebody posted the video to me.

"It is true that some people are unrepentantly committed to various criminalities on the basis of which innocent citizens remain in miserable conditions running their legitimate day to day life, but we must handle human beings according to prescriptions of the law, no matter their offence. Our Government is law abiding, and that is why we must fish out the SASA operatives involved in the incident under reference and punish them accordingly.

"It is also true that we are resolute to stamp out "agberos," but that must happen within confines of the laws of the land. Interestingly, people have been commenting and reacting. This shows life in an organised democracy. Some of them allege various levels of atrocities committed by Wilfred Ezike for which he ought to have been more severely manhandled and brought to book while counter narratives insist that he should not be manhandled at all. For me, and the Government of Anambra State, nothing justifies brutality, and that is why we will punish the erring operatives.

"According to records published in various platforms, Wilfred Ezike had been in and out of prison custody for alleged murder of innocent people while "with his boys, extorting money from them. He is said to be a major kingpin of toutism in whose hands people have gone through hell.

"We were informed that there was widespread jubilation among Onitsha traders and 'keke' operators when they heard about his arrest. They alleged that he was dreaded, but that (if true) does not imply that SASA should not follow the law in dealing with him.

"Other comments are that SASA operatives may have been enraged because, according to them, he wrote a petition against them falsely alleging that they killed somebody along Niger Street, Onitsha. SASA was further quoted as saying that he did that to commence his effort to cripple its job so as to continue his unholly business. Police investigation is said to support SASA's position that the petition was unfounded.

"General comments have also expressed opinions that Wilfred had been prominent in fighting previous administrations to a standstill in their effort to curb the State of touts and their activities."

Politics / No Making Of Bogus Policies When Masses Are Dying Of Hunger, Insecurity- Mbachu by okeychris(m): 1:31pm On Mar 01
By Okechukwu Onuegbu
Awka

The member representing Awka South 1 constituency in Anambra State House of Assembly, Comrade Nigeria Henry Mbachu, Friday, said the reasons behind the move by all the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the house to donate their six months to masses amidst the economic hardships in the country was not politically motivated.

Mbachu was among the 8 caucus members of the LP that in an address by their spokesman, Hon. Jude Ifeanyi Umennajiego said on Thursday that their salaries would be donated to the masses. Others members of the caucus were Hon. Nkechi Ogbuefi, Comrade Nigeria Henry Mbachu, Hon. Jude Umennajiego, Hon. Fred Ezenwa, Hon. Kingsley Udemezue, Hon. Justice Azuka, Hon. Paul Obu and Hon. Patrick Okafor.

According to Mbachu, it was rather caused by the fact that their party ideology centres on welfare of the masses and the believe that there is no need of blowing grammar and making bogus policies and data when the masses are dying of hunger and insecurity.

“Every reasonable and responsible government must first secure lives before talking about infrastructure because someone must be alive and secured before any other thing else.

“Our party’s ideology is for the welfare of the masses. Regrettably, that sole ideology has been tampered with. There’s hunger in the land. When people call us, they make several demands which are genuine.

“Yet, we’re here blowing grammar and making bogus policies and data when the masses are dying of hunger; insecurity everywhere. That’s what we want government to focus on.

“This is not politics, we’re since done with elections. Besides, hunger doesn’t know which party you belong to. Everyone is affected. I’m sure other colleagues are also planning on what to do.

“We want government to focus on food and insecurity within the next six months and we continue other sectors. We’re committing our six months salaries to food and medicare.”

On the modalities the salaries would be disbursed, Mbachu said the decision would be taken in due course.
Crime / Chilling Revelation Against Car-snatching, Armed Robbery Suspect In Anambra by okeychris(m): 9:05am On Feb 26
BY BONIFACE Okeke

More chilling revelations of serial criminal escapades of a suspected car-snatching and armed-robbery kingpin arrested by the men of the Anambra state police command, about a month ago, one Felix Ndubuisi Ekunie have emerged.

A national daily had earlier reported the arrest of Ekunie by an anti-crime squad of the Anambra state command about a month ago for allegedly snatching about three exotic vehicles from their unsuspecting owners.

A source close to the police circle stated that after the media eport which exposed Ekunie as a hard-core criminal suspect who had been linked to several criminal operations including snatching of exotic cars, armed robbery that had claimed many lives, but, had never been made to face the law because he would always purchase his freedom from the police station each time he was arrested, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra state, CP Aderemi Adeoye has given order that this time around Ekunie must be made to face the full weight of the law for his alleged criminal action.

It was gathered that as a result of CP Adeoye's order a proper charge that would make him face the full weight of the law in the Court was being preferred against him, while arrangements are being perfected to arraign him in Court at the Ogidi division of the state High Court.

A source at the state criminal investigation department, SCID, Awka revealed that Ekunie has been on the run since early 2013 after he was linked to the discovery of nine AK-47 rifles illegally concealed in a Geepee water tank in a building close to his house in his Ndam village, Nnobi community, Idemili-South LGA, until he was eventual arrested on February 28, 2024.

It was gathered that Ekunie who was arrested by a team of the state police command anti-crime squad while performing the rituals of "Ozo" traditional title-taking which is the first step for him become an "Iche" so as to qualify to emerge a traditional ruler of the community any time had allegedly been involved in about 13 chilling criminal operations since 2009.

It was gathered that in 2009, police operatives had tracked a stolen car to a bungalow located near his family compound, during which operation six stolen cars and nine AK 47 military rifles, concealed in a water tank were also recovered. Investigation later implicated Ekunie as the actual person who stole and parked the cars, and, as well, the owner of the nine Ak-47 military guns found in the compound.

He was consequently arrested by the police but was later let off the hook after allegedly settling the police.

Again, Ekunie was linked to the criminal gang who in 2015 ambush three people in a Toyota Highlander Jeep while they were returning from a traditional marriage ceremony at Ora-Ifite area of the state, killed two of the occupant#, and, inflicted severe bullet wounds on the third person.

The assailants were later discovered to have been led by Ekunie's immediate younger brother Ikechukwu Ekunie. Six expensive cars were also later recovered from that this Ekunie's younger brother's house at Onitsha by the police anti-crime team who were operatives of the now defunct Awkuzu SARS led by the then SARS commander, CSP James Oshin Nwafor.

It was gathered that Ekunie was arrested butbwas freed after compromising police officers from the SARS Awkuzu, and, the state police command even after police had raided his house and
packed those suspected stolen vehicles to the SARS headquarters at Awkuzu.

All the recovered vehicles according to a source later disappeared from where they were packed at Awkuzu SARS.

However, Ekunie's younger brother, Ikechukwu was later killed during an exchange of gunfire between SARS operatives and criminals at neighbouring Obosi town in Idemili -North LGA.

Also in December 2015, an Onitsha-based man was robbed of his Toyota Corolla at gunpoint in front of his house at Adazi-Enu, Aniocha local government, Anambra State. Operatives of the DSS in Anambra state had tracked the vehicle, recovered it, and arrested the robbers, who pointed at Felix Ekunie (popularly called "Ikpo-kirikpo" (meaning someone beyond destruction) as their sponsor.

The DSS team arrested Ekunie and handed him to state CID in January and 2016.

Sources said that Ekunie later bought another car for the owner and also settled the police and was released and was never charged to court.

Sometime in December 2016, a Young Shall Grow Transport bus, a Toyota Hummer bus, was robbed at Awkunano area of Enugu state. Through tracking, police from Enugu in conjunction with Nnewi SARS and Nnobi Police station in Anambra state later recovered the bus allegedly from Felix Ekunie's compound at his Ndam, Nnobi home in January 2017. All efforts to arrest Felix Ekunie failed. Police later did not arrest him and charge him to Court in connection with the crime.
A certain young man, commercial tricycle rider, Mr. Onyeka Amakeze, whose house was said to be located opposite Felix Ekunie's compound at Nnobi, a source said was accused by Felix Ekunie of being the informant that led police to recover the Young Shall Grow Transport bus.

The source revealed that Amakeze was later in June 2017, kidnapped from his house at Nnobi and has not been seen since then.

It was, however , gathered that it was a police officer at Nnobi police station that told Mr. Ekunie that it was Amakeze who giving information to the police about his criminal activities.

In 2019, one Barrister Okonkwo (Eno's son) was robbed of his brand new Toyota Highlander, at gunpoint near his house at Ifite-Nnobi. Suspects were eventually arrested. They confessed the car was taken to Abuja, and they implicated Mr. Felix Ndubisi Ekunie as their sponsor.
Anambra State Police invited Ekunie and he refused to honor the invitation. He was rather alleged to havel settled the police to stop looking for him, and, was never arrested over the incident.

In 2020, a motor mechanic was testing a Toyota Camry Spider car belonging to the then commander of Awkuzu SARS, CSP Patrick Agbazue, and a gang of hoodlums robbed him the car at gunpoint at Nnobi-Ideani Road.

Through tracking, the car was recovered at a car sales shop in Abuja, on a different color. Suspects were arrested and they pointed at Felix Ekunie as the person who told them to take the car to the car sales stand in Abuja.
CSP Agbazue arrested Mr. Ekunie and detained him for two months.

It was gathered that a former commissioner of police in Anambra state,Mr. Echeng Echeng at the time was Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID at Zone 13 Police Command Ukpo and that he was the one who allegedly rescued Akunie from being prosecuted over the snatching of CSP Patrick Agbazue's car, by getting Agbazue not to prosecute him over the crime.

In 2020, a notorious car snatcher called Mayor from Nanka and his gang members were arresterd and about 15 expensive cars and luxury jeeps were recovered from them by SARS Awka Unit and transferred to SARS headquarters Awkuzu headed by CSP Patrick Agbazue.

Those arrested in connection with the crime named Felix Ekunie as their sponsor.

It was gathered that CSP Agbazue later disposed of all the expensive luxury cars and eliminated all the arrested suspects.

CSP Agbazue was said to have arrested Felix Ekunie, but, that the DCP CID Zone 13, Ukpo, DCP Echeng Echeng sent a signal to CSP Patrick Agbazue to transfer the case of Felix Ekunie to the zone

CSP Agbazue was said to have after reviewing the transfer request by DCP Echeng Echeng and found out that it was not signed by the appropriate authority, refused to transfer the case file to DCP Echeng Echeng at Zone 13 Ukpo.

DCP Echeng allegedly later mobilized senior police officers from above to pressurize CSP Agbazue to transfer the case to him, but, that CSP Agbazue also mobilized Anambra State stakeholders to put pressure on the higher police hierarchy to counter DCP Echeng Echeng's pressue.

After two months of power tussle, CSP Patrick Agbazue was forced to free Ekunie without charging him to court, citing too much pressure from senior police officers in NIgeria Police Force.

In 2022, a Toyota Camry snatched at gunpoint from the owner at Onitsha was tracked to a compound at Nnobi, and , in the compound another vehicle, a Toyota Hummer bus also packed in the compound of one Mr. Dozie Ugbo of Ndam, Nnobi, was discovered, and, upon his arrest alleged that Felix Ekunie (Ikpo-kirikpo) parked the vehicles in his compound.

At the time of the incident, Mr. Echeng Echeng has become the Commissioner of police,CP, Anambra State Police Command.

Dozie who was arrested and detained by the police in the state was later to be released, after the owner of the Toyota Camry was settled.

About 22 persons were alleged to have been murdered in connection with car snatching and armed robbery operations by members of Felix Ekunie-led criminal syndicate, who sometimes dress in military uniforms, according to reliable sources.

Incidentally, Felix Ndubisi Ekunie's compound in Nnobi, Idemili South LGA is about 2 minutes drive from Nnobi Police Station. He visits his home regularly and sleeps in his house. He is vice chairman of his community association and attends regular meetings. He is a candidate for the high chief in his town and attends their regular meetings. His associates are regularly seen socializing with police officers from Nnobi Police Station, at beer parlous, joints and other places at Nnobi and surroundings.

"IGP should summon all the DPOs and DCOs at Nnobi Police Station and CP, DCP to CSPs at Anambra State Police Command and Zone 13 Police Command Ukpo from 2010 till present to account for their dealings with Felix Ndubisi Ekunie, car snatching and armed robbery syndicate", the source advised.

Anambra State Police Command should tell the IGP and the people of Anambra State the truth about their deals with Felix Ndubisi Ekunie and many other Felix Ndubisi Ekunies in Anambra State", the source added.

Politics / Igweship Tussle: Obelle Parades Fake Court Stay Of Execution Order -nwankwo by okeychris(m): 4:48pm On Jan 20
BY BONIFACE Okeke

The traditional ruler of Nwafia community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra state, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo has urged the public to dismiss as fake any Court Order purporting as a stay of the Justice Promise Otti's Court order barring Chief Dan Obelle from parading as the monarch of the community.

Igwe Nwankwo stated that since after Justice Otti of the Awka High Court 3 set aside the certificate of recognition issued to Dan Obelle as traditional ruler of Nawfia by the immediate past administration of Chief Willie Obiano, and, made an order barring Chief Obelle from parading as monarch of the community, the latter had not served him or his lawyers any application filed in any Court urging the Court to make order to stay execution of the order.

The monarch even reminded the incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo's led administration that issuance of a certificate of recognition to Dan Obelle by the past administration was an abuse of the Court process because before the action, he was already in the Court challenging his dethronement from his traditional stool.

He added that since after Justice Otti barred Chief Obelle from parading as traditional ruler, the latter did not serve him or any of his lawyers any application before any Court of law seeking to stay execution of the order made by Justice Otti.

Igwe Nwankwo argued "Before any Court can entertain any application to set aside the Justice Otti's order or make an order for the stay of the execution, the application and brief of argument for such order have to be served on me or my lawyers. This is because I know that such an order cannot be obtained through Exparte application."

The monarch stated that from what his team of lawyers told him pertaining to what Dan Obelle's lawyer filed in Appeal Court so far "There's ABSOLUTELY no appeal howsoever because what they filed in the Appeal Court is notice of appeal," the monarch argued.

Igwe Nwankwo also pointed out that from the record of the notice of appeal filed at the Appeal Court, Dan Obelle was asking for the following three things: leave to file appeal, an injunction or alternatively, a stay of execution.

It would be recalled that Igwe Nwankwo was enthroned the traditional ruler of his community following the gruesome murder of his father, Igwe F. F. B. C. Nwankwo by suspected hired assassins in 2000 while he was in his palace watching the 9 O'clock NTA Network news.

Igwe Nwankwo was one of the 13 traditional rulers in the state who were suspended from their thrones by the then Obiano administration for accompanying the State-born billionaire oil mogul, Prince Arthur Eze on a courtesy visit to then President Muhammad Buhari at the presidential Villa, Abuja in 2022.

Igwe Nwankwo had gone to Court to challenge his dethronement arguing that the action was an infringement on his fundamental right of freedom of movement and association.
Politics / 2027: Youths Will Collapse S'east For APGA by okeychris(m): 3:07pm On Jan 20
BY BONIFACE Okeke

The South East Zonal Youth leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Hon. Chinedu Eze has vowed that the party will sweep the poll in the entire zone in 2027 general election.

Hon. Eze who was a one time leader of the Onitsha North local government legislature described his recent emergence as the APGA youth leader in the South East zone as an opportunity for him to galvanise youth in the zone to enthrone masses oriented governance in the region.

Popularly known as "Yagazie" Hon. Eze who is an indigene of Enugu state said that he won councillorship election in Onitsha North local government area of Anambra state, and, later emerged as leader of the legislature because of his grass-root appeal in Onitsha which he described as "nucleus of the Igbo nation".

"First and foremost, I want to express my deep gratitude to His Excellency, Mr governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo for having utmost confidence in the national chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, an erudite lawyer, Hon. Sly Ezeokenwa who in consultation with several other APGA major stakeholders appointed me to lead the youth wing of the party in the South East zone.

"Since after the national chairman of our party broke the news of my appointment few days ago, I have been inundated with calls from several major stakeholders of our party from all parts of the country, especially in the South East congratulating and expressing their trust in my capacity to deliver, and, I am confident that I won't let them down", the APGA youth leader assured.

On his programme of action, Hon. Eze stated that very soon he would embark on consultations with various Igbo youth groups in all the states in the South East to preach to them the philosophy of APGA as a masses-oriented political party that is rooted in the Igbo mantra "Onye aghana Nwanne ya" which means"be your brother's keeper".

"What that philosophy means is that as a nation, we must collaborate to develop our Igbo land for the good of all; for the rich and the poor; not a situation where an Igbo wealthy person will be enjoying in affluence while his brother or sister, or, even his other Igbo living in any distant place or state is suffering in poverty, sicknesses, etc, and, he won't feel bothered. So, APGA government will change such narrative ", he assured.

He stated that his leadership would also organise Igbo youth town hall meetings in various state capitals, and, other major cities across the South East where the youth would brainstorm and come up with blue-prints on how to enthrone viable and sustainable Igbo political leadership recruitment process that would help develop Igbo land.

An APGA stakeholder, Mr. Chidiebere Michael who reacted to Hon. Eze's emergence as APGA South East youth leader praised the party's national leadership for the choice of Eze.

He described the APGA youth leader as a philanthropist who is very popular among the traders, artisans, youths organisations, Churches and expressed optimism that if supported by the party national leadership and other stakeholders across the South East, Hon. Eze has the capacity to deliver South East to the party.

Politics / Group Unveils Hardcore News, Kick Against Cyber Bullying, Criminal Defamation by okeychris(m): 1:19pm On Jan 18
By Okechukwu Onuegbu

A foremost activist and media guru, Dr Chuma Harris Odili, Wednesday, unveiled an online media outfit, Hardcore news.

Odili, who is the National President, Association of Digital Media Core Advocates (ADMCA), said the multimedia platform would champion the cause of the public through truthful, fearless and unbiased reportage.

The group also used the opportunity to train and certify journalists and citizen journalists in Anambra State on cyber aggression, cyber stalking, cyber bullying and safe use of social media.

Speaking at the event, Harris-Odili, sought for expunging of criminal defamation from the penal code, because according to him, the rich and the powerful class were using it to silence opposing views.

"Nigeria, like a few other countries, has enacted laws Amies at sanitising the system. While some aspects of these enactment are quite necessary, we at the ADMCA think that some of them, especially the one bordering on criminal defamation needs to be expunged from our penal code, especially as it is currently being exploited by the rich and powerful class to silence opposing views in the society, in active connivance with the law enforcement agents.

"So many examples abound, where social media posts, blog articles and podcasts have landed the disseminators in trouble. As unhealthy as this may, ADMCA will always urge balance when digital media practitioners' want to share whatever story they have online. As digital media practitioners' chase the lines, shares and view, they must bear in mind that Nigeria has a Cyber Crime Act 2015 which prohibits cyber-bullying, cyber stalking and cyber squatting," he added.

Also speaking, the National Vice President, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), South East Zone C, Sir Emmanuel Ifesinachi, frowned at indiscriminate arrest, intimidation and molestation of media practitioners in the country often carried out by the rich, politicians and law enforcement agents.

Ifesinachi argued that the journalists should be seen and treated as partners in progress as they perform their roles as societal watchdogs while holding the government accountable.

He, therefore, urged the government and the governed to stop using force on them but rather explore legal means of resolving whatever differences they had with the media at all times as it would be beneficial to society.

On his part, the keynote speaker at the occasion, Dr Chukwuma Onunkwo, urged the media practitioners' to be weary of information they disseminate on the Internet, because according to him, Internet never forget and publishing false and untrue reports could result into emotional and mental pains or even deaths.

In their separate contributions, notable media practitioners including Mrs Ify Unachukwu, Titus Eleweke, Okey Maduforo, Emma Elekwa, Okechukwu Onuegbu and Obiọma Obidiegwu tasked the media on trainings and retraining of their staff, while advocating for solidarity supports and collaborations among members to overcome challenges.
