FamilyRe: The moment you become a Mrs. by okeyfineboy(m): 12:49am On Nov 03, 2018
Your write up is so biased. Why should it be only the lady that will guard her marriage? So the men should misbehave while the lady should forgive all in the name of remain Mrs.? You have an archaic way of thinking. It takes two to tango. Stop making men feel too important and misbehave just because they feel they have more advantage if the marriage leads to divorce.

I have seen women who are exceedingly successful and very much okay after divorce. I even know some that are still very selective of men coming from their hand in marriage even after having kids in their previous marriage. I know some who refused to get married because they feel they are better off without a man. A woman's life does not revolve around man, stop making it look so.

and women should be paying children school fees also, pay bills and many thing husband is doing.
And who told you women don't do more than that? Some women carry all the expenses in the family from paying children sch fee to house rent, feeding and other things. I feel men who have issues with equality have low self esteem.

All of you saying both sexes are not equal, are you trying to say you're greater than Chimamanda because you're a man?

Some of you are even trying to compare strength as a reason a man is greater, wasn't it on this platform that the news of a wife beating her husband was put on front page? Are you saying the wife in this case is greater because she has more strength?

Men and women are equal but in the family setting, a man is the head, the women is the neck, a man needs his wife and vice versa.

The verse you quoted doesn't say love is greater than submission. Stop infusing that into it.

Yes, some men don't love their wives, but that doesn't mean you should advocate that women should not be submissive.
The verse I quoted explains what love really is, that's why I said you should read and understand the meaning of love. And o yes, love is the greatest, love conquereth all.

I'm not advocating that women shouldn't submit, I'm only saying that why most men rant and dwell so much on women submitting, they themselves don't show love and most men bank on submission to subdue their wives and see them as inferior.

I don't know why many of you are attacking Chimamanda, I guess many didn't read what she wrote. She made a very good point but most of you failed to see it.

You quoted the Bible out of context. That verse says we are to submit as Christians when we are together. But you twisted it to mean husband and wives should submit to each.

The Bible proved you wrong in the following verses when it stated what a wife should do, which is to SUBMIT, while the husband is to LOVE his wife. If that verse you quoted out of context was really talking about the marriage scene, then the succeeding verses would have stated that men should submit to their wives also, but it didn't.
Love is greater than submission. That's what most of you don't know. Read 1st Corinthians chapter 13 vs 4 - 8a to understand what love is.

How many men love their wives yet they keep blabing about submission. How many men can give up their lives for their wives? When people begin to understand what love is, there will no problems in marriages. I don't see how a man will claim to love his wife yet oppress her and make her feel worthless. Love conquereth all. If a man loves his wife properly, I tell you, his wife will totally submit to him except of course he married a Jezebel.
