Hello room. Good morning everyone.

I'm happy to be here. I have been on the Australian immigration thrend since January and coming here means I might have to start afresh, but I will be needing a quicky advise and step.

Let me get straight to the point, I am a petroleum engineer, finished my service in Nov last year. Started plans for my migration to Australia for my master's/work. I have already renewed my passport written the English proficiency exam only for my father who's my sponsor to decline the move based on the financial issues coupled with the high dollar rate earlier this year. He even at the long run suggested I start the masters here which I abruptly refused because there's no future here. We all know that. I want the best for me hence forth, not a mere promise without genuineness.

To cut the story short, since then I have been trying to move on, looking for an easy option to leave Naija until my friend suggested Germany for me due to the tuition free and possibility to work during and after studies unlike Finland and Norway and the rest.

Now, I need the advise of the knowledged persons here who can put me through with the process and the possible course to route in, be it masters program for a petroleum engineer or new course all together. Please I need your advises, had I known I would have devoted all my time to read the discussion here rather than the time I spent on the Australian forum earlier this year.

Please all, just your suggestions is what I need, I need to start the process so as to achieve something before this year runs out.

Thanks all and may God bless our struggle. Amen

it means, brother Okezie, your grades in school was really poor and not up to what they require for a masters candidate

2.something on a 5.0 scale is less than the required 2.1 (second class upper) for your course and probably school of interest

I huta go?
Sister Skarlett thanks. Your second point clarifies my curiosity.

Meaning it must have been explained in your transcript. Your transcript should contain your CGP and an explanation of the scale used. in your case a 5.0 scale.
OK. However, whats your interpretation of "if its out of a 5 scale, its too low to be considered"?smiley

Its me again, one love brother. lol.

don't know about work experience, I know of someone who got admitted with a second class lower grade though.

He tried his luck in less competitive courses and God answered his prayers. There are a lot of courses often ignored by applicants, that schools go all out trying to fill the space.

As long as you gave the cash, anything is possible.
One love bro! I don't get your "as long as you gave the cash, anything is possible" comment

Hey people! When i inquired from Tromso University about my chances of securing MSc admission with 2.0 GPA (and with over three years working experience) this reply followed "If it is out of a 5 scale, your CGPA is too low to be considered". Please can someone tell what this implies? I thought they work with a 6 scale and is there any formula I could use to check if my GPA is out of a 5 scale?

Your GPA is too too too poor to be considered in any Norwegian school. Don't waste time applying.

Even some folks with 2.1 sef never see admission
Elder Bandeco!!! You emphasize ooo. Am quite aware my GPA is low, my inquiry was based on my working experience. And it seems that factor wouldn't count

so you know the answer to your question?. interesting.

2.0/5.0 is too poor for Norway.

Lol! Its alright my comment cracked you up, though I wonder which part got you laughing hard. Kindly elaborate why I should forget about Norway (my school used the 5.0 scale). And I don't get "find out from your school or former mates"

Olujastro has said it all.. It is almost impossible to get into a Norwegian University without a 2.1 especially if you came from a developing land. Tromsø even specifically required a "B" grade from applicants from developing countries.

However, there is no harm in trying Lykke til.
Elder Bandeco am in complete agreement with you #NoHarmInTrying
TravelRe: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by okezie007(m): 5:36pm On Jul 30, 2017
olujastro:
To be honest, anything below a 2.1 will require a miracle for most Norwegian universities. That's because of the competition from across the world in getting free, quality education in Norway. A few schools like NTNU and UiS require you to have at least 4.0 GPA out of 5.0 to be able to apply to them. And 4.0 GPA doesn't guarantee the admission. Experience counts and gives an advantage in addition to having a good GPA, especially when there are so many high GPA applicants.
Unlike Germany, Norway has a much smaller population and as well fewer universities. So that might be a factor causing the stiff competition.
You can check out the course you want and the academic requirements of the school offering it on studyinnorway.no. But personally, I'm yet to come across a school with lower academic requirement.
Thanks! I really do appreciate your response. Have already spotted a course - Industrial Engineering @Tromso university. I'd be hoping they accept C grade result along with my experience when the application window opens for 2018

Gratitude to every contribution made in this thread; have been inspired by your various input. Special greetings to Starflex and Bandeco & Olujastro & co. - your input counts a lot to us. I have to admit it does appear aspiring students for MSc with 3rd class (BSc) don't have a chance getting admitted. However, what about if they got some good working experience to go with it? Some German universities do accommodate such folks for admission, can such be said of the Norweigian Universities?

Schwartz:
I read your post a while ago and I am moved to answer. Let me share a small story. There is a guy who studied electrical and information technology in university of applied sciences, Hamburg. He started coding at the age 10 and started this course in Germany at the age of 19 in his year 3 he got a good full time job and his visa moved from student visa to work from which he will be eligible for permanent residence any time soon. Another Naija guy wheel chair bound, a student of the same course, same success story. The success stories of people reading this course has been reoccurring. Especially if you're really good at coding. Don't trade working menial jobs at the interim for a future glory.Even in the so called big cities, the work mostly available is still menial jobs. One thing I noticed about Germany, in most places you find yourself is that once you can speak the language you will get something to do. There must be a restaurant were people eat and dishes needed washing, there must be houses that need cleaning, there must be people moving out that need their stuff moved, baby sitting, lawn mowing, gardening etc During holidays you can move in with friends / naija brothers who will take you in for a fee while you work for a substantial amount of money. Holiday jobs in Daimler, Amazon, BMW, factories, production companies, etc. Hard tasking jobs but at least good pay.
If your sole aim is to hustle after euros, do 2 , 3 jobs and send money home then go for big cities; Stuttgart, Munich, Berlin etc but if you wish to get a good well paying and respectable job with the ability to convert your study visa to a permanent stay then go for that elect. & IT course. For others asking about which city to choose, I will give same advice
IT is tough and coding is not a child's play in fact I know people that couldn't weather it they dropped out. But at the end it pays, engineering also. This is just my humble opinion based on experience
Schwartz!!! Nice to see your comment AGAIN #CommentMakeSense

But i can assure you, from what you said, the AU internship was far more lucrative and prestigious than the WAHO one.
