Politics › Re: Solving Nigeria's Political Problem. Bottom To Top by Okonsyourguy(m): 7:55pm On Jul 16, 2018 |
Until we have 50 outstanding persons vying for lower offices like House of Reps and the Senate, Nigeria's progress would be slow. Expecting only Buhari to solve our problems has revealed one man can't solve all the issues. He is the most outstanding leader we've had in the 4th republic, others need to join hands with him to pull Nigeria up to even greater heights. Babayero212: Can we sit down and analyse something that will help us as youths in this country?
How is it that we want to sort out the problem in Nigeria by using a top to bottom approach since it is well related to the political landscape and terrain that is peculiar to Nigeria?
Trying to sort out the political problem with that top-bottom will not work in Nigerian politics.
Sincerely, I would have thought that all these Young politicians coming out now would have chosen the easier battle and moved up from there.
Imagine a Young and very vibrant youth joining the ranks of the Federal House of Reps or even the Senate
Imagine the ease with which they will use and fight against oppressive laws that might hinder their chances of becoming the President. Once they enter those places of power, they can then move up and with persistence, make changes to laws that will favor them.
I am just surprised that all they do, is to keep fighting for the top position when they can still be quite relevant from the bottom locations then prove their mettle there.
Their followers should really talk to them about fighting a wasted lost battle even from the onset.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? |

Politics aside and still in the business of making Nigeria proud, these young lads repping Naija from the Kaduna State Debating Club beat Team USA! yesterday at the International Debate Competition to reach the Quarter-Finals. Give it up to them, people (photo-credit @ibrahim_bello_)
When we see Nigerians doing good, regardless of where they're from, we should give them their props. These boys are doing good, the revolution Governor El Rufai started in the Kaduna State Education ministry is yielding results. All that is left is for the rest 35 states to emulate Kaduna and Nigeria's greatness will be fast-tracked. Kudos to El-Rufai and Buhari for having a great working relationship that would move the country forward.

No doubt, Buhari, will do what's right by Nigeria all the time. Good times are waiting ahead for Nigerians Chi12baby: President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria will only be a signatory to the Continental Free Trade Agreement if the nation ’s interests, as well as regional and international obligations, are balanced.
The President reiterated this position at the 2018 Annual General Meeting/25th Anniversary of the African Export-Import Bank held in Abuja on Saturday.
President Buhari stated that he had already directed relevant agencies to conduct intensive and extensive consultations on the free trade.
In view of the fact that Nigeria was a trading nation and no nation could survive on its own. |

Politics › Breaking: Senator Abdullahi Adamu Reveals Saraki As Man Behind R-APC by Okonsyourguy(op): 12:19pm On Jul 13, 2018 |
It appears Jay-Z's line in the Blueprint II, "when the grass is cut, the snakes will show..." has come to play in the drama between the APC and R-APC. Senator representing Nassarawa West, Abdullahi Adamu, has accused the senate president, Bukola Saraki, of being the main man (the green snake in the green grass) behind the rapacious R-APC faction of the ruling APC.
Are you surprised though? Saraki has managed to undermine President Buhari every single chance he could get; arbitrary budget delays and padding, refusal to support the anti-corruption campaign and a host of other funny acts. No one has frustrated President Buhari's intentions of bringing corruption down to its knees more than the sly Saraki since May 2015.
Thank you, Senator Adamu, for confirming what most Nigerians already know. The question now is what's Saraki's next move after the grass covering his shenanigans has been cut?

The man was acting to get sympathy votes or create a soft landing against an imminent defeat in Saturday's polls. Ekiti won't be the first state INEC would be conducting elections under Buhari, has not interfered in any state's business... Chi12baby: As they say, there are usually three sides to a story. Your side, their side and the truth.
The Fayose side of the story is not just a hard swallow. It is also a very nice way of shaming our sense of reasoning.
Pictures have flooded the internet showing Fayose, a seating Governor, on the floor in tears.
One would ordinarily think the pictures were from a movie audition.
But with a closer look, you would realize it’s Fayose – the Attention seeking Governor.
His claims include, I was slapped, beaten, manhandled.
Governor Ayodele Fayose was said to have fainted and was rushed to Government House clinic where he was treated.
This story is one very obvious emotional propaganda.
When the governor came to the entrance of Government House to ask why PDP members and supporters were being dispersed from the pavilion located at Fajuyi Park, where a rally was scheduled to hold.
A MOPOL commander fired a tear-gas canister at him and he fell and became unconscious.
As perfect as the storytelling skills displayed, there are reasons to question a lot of things.
One of which is the character of the said Governor. Fayose is a Man of questionable character, a man in the group of Dino Melaye.
Little wonder, both of them are in the same political party.
A man who is known for eye services and perfectly plays out his thuggish character.
In his exact words, I plead with the international community to intervene; Nigeria is in trouble, Ekiti is in crisis.
The brightest form of sarcasm, you agree ?
Where were his aides though, what was their action or reaction in the course of this happenings.
At what point did the said Policemen forget he is a seating Governor ?
Was he truly shot at and did he sustain bruises ?
He was slapped and he was wearing a neck brace ?
There are several questions in the heart of Nigerians. |

Good people of Nigeria, news emanating from the hallowed chambers of the Nigerian Senate has it that it has received for first reading, a bill to alter the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the purpose of creating the state police. Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekwerenmadu is listed as the sponsor of the State Police bill and he is supported by 75 senators in the quest. Following the topsy-turvy state of security across Nigeria, many feel this bill is long overdue. With the bill, the Senate wants to remove Policing from the Exclusive List and put in in the concurrent list, where it gives state governors to establish and manage a police force within their states. The matter of State Policing had been a controversial one for years because the governors clamouring to manage their state's security can hardly pay civil servants salaries as it is, let alone adding the burden of police salaries and allowances. Kudos to President Buhari for not interfering in the law-making process as the senators are going about their business without rancour. The question is, can our state governors establish and maintain State Police across the 36 states of the Federation? Will Nigeria be more secure following the establishment of State Police? Politics › Re: Apc’s Opinion On The Coalition. by Okonsyourguy(m): 9:16am On Jul 12, 2018 |
The coalition is good because it's a collection of the people who have opposed the growth of Nigeria at every turn. Buhari makes good policies and these political elite undermine him. The coalition has no hiding place anymore because their members who have been undermining Buhari's anti-corruption efforts have been exposed. Chi12baby: The public view shows that coalitions are not good for the country.
More than two-thirds of Nigeria now believe the government is weaker, less decisive and "confused" about what it stands for.
Coalitions should stop trying to be overarching.
It is very difficult to exert serious political authority sitting in the coalition parties considering thier portfolio.
The PDP coalition had failed to convince the Nigerians of its efficacy.
The experience of coalition over the past year seems to have turned minds decisively against it. |

This is another welcome development. Kudos is due to the Buhari admin Timibabaj: President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to commission the recently-completed first phase of the Abuja light rail project on Thursday, July 12, 2018.
He is also expected to flag-off the railway services signaling the commencement of operations of the long-awaited rail services in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
The project was financed through counterpart-funding with the China Export-Import (Exim) Bank on the basis of 60 percent from the Chinese and 40 percent from the FCT administration.
It took more than a decade to complete, having been flagged-off by the Olusegun Obasanjo administration in 2007.
The light rail will link 13 communities with 12 stations at the Abuja Metro, Stadium, Kukwaba 1 and 2, Wupa, Idu, Bassanjiwa, Airport, Gwagwa Dei-Dei, Kagini, and Gbazango.
This is awesome people.

Is this good news or is it good news. The problematic power sector has been an age-long headache in Nigeria, it's commendable that Buhari has taken the bull by the horns. Let erring DISCOs leave if they can't fix up Timibabaj: The federal government has asked the 11 electricity distribution companies (Discos) in Nigeria’s electricity market to buckle down or get out and leave the business of power distribution for people who are willing to compete and uphold their obligations in the sector.
Suggesting the Discos have failed to live up to expectations in the industry, the government said it would not sit back and allow them to hold Nigeria hostage with their poor performances.
We know most of these DISCOs took over through fraudulent means. From the latest development, it appears Buhari is about to do the right thing by looking into it. |

It's unfair to say Nigeria isn't progressing under the Buhari administration. The man keeps making the right alliances with the international community. He's doing great, home and abroad... Babayero212: French President, Emmanuel Macron, arrived in Nigeria today to meet with Buhari
The meeting is part of efforts to forge closer ties with English-speaking Africa.
Macron, a 40-year-old former investment banker who speaks fluent English, has made a point of boosting ties with France’s former colonies but also improving trade with anglophone countries.
Later today, he will also visit Lagos State where the state government has planned to host him at the New Afrika Shrine founded by Femi Kuti, son of music legend, Fela Kuti – making him the first president to enter the venue.
The New Afrika Shrine located at Ikeja Lagos was built after the original Shrine by the musical maverick, Fela was burnt down in 1977.
In Lagos, the agenda will be less traditionally diplomatic, with a focus more on the megacity of 20 million people’s artistic and cultural scene.
In the end, we want more Presidents to visit and see that Nigeria is making progress under Buhari's tenure as well.
Well done. |
