4. On November 22, 2015, the President travelled to Tehran, Iran for the third Gas Exporting Countries’ Forum; on November 26 he proceeded to Malta to participate in the 2015 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting while he travelled to Paris, France on November 29 for the United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Politics › Re: Group Endorses Buhari For 2019 by Okonsyourguy(m): 6:05pm On Jul 03, 2018 |
Nigerians are bound to enjoy great dividends if they give President Buhari another term to consolidate what gains he has started. It's great to see Nigerians beginning to endorse him. Timibabaj: A non-governmental Organization; Savers Empowerment Ambassador Initiative has thrown its weight behind the re-election of President Buhari for 2019 and want Nigerians to support the president in the elections. In a release by the chairman, Frank Ramsey, the group said the endorsement came for the president because of his fight against corruption in a manner that no previous government has done before and this has redeemed the image of this country within the International community.
Speaking further, Ramsey noted that abandoned projects that litter the country, especially roads, have been rebuilt by his administration, while contractors now deliver jobs on schedule.
Group Secretary, Isa Faiza Mahmood said his group would volunteer to work tirelessly for Buhari’s re-election, as he is the only one that can take the country to greater heights. |
Politics › Is The EFCC Winning The Anti-corruption War At Last? by Okonsyourguy(op): 3:16pm On Jul 03, 2018 |
Is the EFCC winning the anti-corruption war at last? The apex corruption agency claims yesterday it secured 139 convictions in the first 6 months (January-June) of 2018 alone! Wow! Ibrahim Magu's too much mehn... For the first time in Nigeria's history, 2 former governors, Jolly Nyame and Joshua Dariye of Taraba and Plateau state, have bagged 14-year jail terms each. In this same Nigeria where former governors and the corruption cabal claim to be untouchable, 2 of them can get canned within 6 months of the same year while the rest are catching cold.
Can Magu come out and collect his handshake? Can President Buhari get his accolades for supporting the anti-corruption agency? Do Nigerians now see Buhari means this anti-corruption battle as promised in 2015? Can you see Buhari is justified for keeping Magu in the EFCC and is delivering on the promise to kick corruption out of public office in Nigeria?
Is EFCC's unprecedented feat in the war against corruption worthy of applause? I don't fail to knock him when he gets things wrong, so Buhari chop knuckle for fighting corruption abeg. What do you think?

Nobody is a bigger disciple of this saying than President Buhari when he delegated the leadership of the country to Prof. Osinbajo while he was away for treatment in 2017. That's a leader who built a dependable team to lead the country out of the doldrums Chi12baby: As they say, it takes two to tangle. In this case, it takes all arms of government to tangle. Next time the thought of accusing Buhari comes to mind, say this 'Get thee behind me satan'. Then you can start by accusing NASS, State Governors, SHOA, LG chairperson and the likes. It takes all these people to make governance fruitful. It does not take one man to rule a country, i thought that was why the concept of checks and balances emanated from. It so happens that the watchdogs are now the ones padding and manipulating Budgets. God dey. |
Politics › Re: What Do You Think Of The Second National Health Plan Launched By The FG? by Okonsyourguy(m): 4:18pm On Jun 22, 2018 |
Good to see Traditional medicine getting recognized by the Buhari administration because that's the option open to most people in the rural areas. As long as good standards and best practices are met, Nigerians in the villages will benefit from this immensely. Great job, Buhari. Timibabaj: The Buhari-led federal government recently launched the second National Strategic Health Development Plan (NSHDP) to deepen healthcare service delivery in the country.
The new NSHDP was initiated after the first plan came to an end in 2015 after a five-year period.
The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, explained that the five-year plan will help to foster efficient healthcare services across the country.
The government also gave official approval for the establishment of traditional and alternative medicine department in the Federal Ministry of Health.
The approval for the establishment of the department, which was given by the Office of the Head of Service (HOS) will for the first time give official recognition to traditional African medicine in the country.
I personally think this is great. As Africans, most of us cannot do without the traditional medicine but there has never been any regulation to ensure its safety.
With this recent development from Buhari's administration, traditional medicine would be properly regulated.

What kind of humans do we have as lawmakers in this country?
While amending the 2018 Budget is their constitutional duty, where does it state that the Legislature must frustrate the Executive to have their way to arbitrarily pad up the document?
What the national Assembly did with the 2018 budget is totally immoral, disturbing, disruptive and antithetical to the direction of growth of Nigeria.
It's nothing short of Budget padding, usurping the executive's function and this must not stand.
Nigerians may not be able to start a total recall of the National Assembly because it's too late but we can make sure that these dubious characters don't make it back to the Green and Red Chambers in 2019.

No be today our dubious lawmakers dey siphon our money for themselves in the name of budget padding, e don tay since 1999. That's why if there's one thing you have to admire President Muhammadu Buhari for, its his courage in the face of adversity. Amending the Appropriation Act may not be illegal but was it moral? Is moral to cut back funding on projects key to national growth like;
* the completion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, * the East-West road, the 2nd Niger Bridge, * the Mambilla Plateau power project
in favour of frivolous and mundane activities like buying grinding machines, motorcyles and building VIP toilets? Can you see the legislators we voted into the 8th National Assembly in 2015? Did you know the National Assembly padded its own budget with a whooping N14.5bn from N125bn to N139.5bn? Just like that?!
In a nation where some are struggling to feed, businesses are suffering and lives being lost on bad roads, our lawmakers are padding the budget so they can continue living lavishly after collecting N13.5million monthly for operational costs. Have you seen any constituency project completed in your area since 1999 when our lawmakers have been collecting billions in constituency allowances? Fellow Nigerians, isn't it high time we asked our lawmakers on whose side they are on? What do you think?

Good thing President Buhari exposed the lawmakers' shenanigans. They won't spoil Buhari's good works Timibabaj: The 2018 budget has just been signed by President Buhari some few hours ago today. In the midst of the celebrations and all, the president has expressed his displeasure at the way The National Assembly tampered with the budget proposal he sent them.
Below is his statement.
"I am however concerned about some of the changes The National Assembly has made to the budget proposals I presented.
The logic behind the Constitutional direction that budgets should be proposed by the Executive is that it is the Executive that knows & defines its policies & projects.
Unfortunately, that has not been given much regard in what has been sent to me.
The National Assembly made cuts amounting to N347 billion in the allocations to 4,700 projects submitted to them for consideration and introduced 6,403 projects of their own amounting to N578 billion.
Many of the projects cut are critical and may be difficult, if not impossible, to implement with the reduced allocation.
Some of the new projects inserted by the National Assembly have not been properly conceptualized, designed and costed and will, therefore, be difficult to execute.
Such examples of projects from which cuts were made are as follows:
1.) At a time when we are working with Labour to address compensation-related issues, a total of 5 billion Naira was cut from the provisions for Pension Redemption Fund and Public Service Wage Adjustment.
2.) The provision for Construction of the Terminal Building at Enugu Airport was cut from 2 billion Naira to 500 million Naira, which will further delay the completion of this critical project.
3.) The Take-off Grant for the Maritime University in Delta State, a key strategic initiative of the Federal Government, was cut from 5 billion Naira to 3.4 billion Naira.
4.) About seventy (70) new road projects have been inserted into the budget of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing.
In doing so, The National Assembly applied some of the additional funds expected from the upward review of the oil price benchmark to the Ministry’s vote.
5.) Another area of concern is the increase by The National Assembly of the provisions for Statutory Transfers by an aggregate of 73.96 billion Naira. Most of these increases are for recurrent expenditure at a time we are trying to keep down the cost of governance.
An example of this increase is the budget of the National Assembly itself which has increased by 14.5 billion Naira, from 125 billion Naira to 139.5 billion Naira without any discussion with the Executive.
Notwithstanding the above-stated observations, I have decided to sign the 2018 Budget in order not to further slow down the pace of recovery of our economy, which has doubtlessly been affected by the delay in passing the budget."
What do you make of these? Is the National Assembly right to tamper with the budget proposal the way they did?
Please share your thoughts. |

No! Nein! Niyent! Bad move! They shouldn't be let anywhere near sensitive organizations like the military agwom: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has opposed reported moves by the Federal Government directing the Nigerian Army and Police to recruit some former members of Boko Haram terrorists who recently underwent deradicalisation programme.
The President of CAN, Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, said on Tuesday that if it is true, it is condemnable as it is capable of undermining the nation’s security system.
“CAN is visibly disturbed at reports that the Federal Government has allegedly directed the Nigerian Army and Police to recruit some former members of Boko Haram terrorists who recently underwent deradicalisation programme.
“If it is true, CAN condemns such a policy in strong terms and ask the Federal Government, especially security agencies, to withdraw that directive which is capable of compromising the nation’s security system,” Ayokunle said in the statement signed by his spokesman, Pastor Adebayo Oladeji.
He also urged the Federal Government to caution the Adamawa State Government against hasty implementation of the death sentence passed on five Christian youths alleged to have killed a Fulani herdsman.
He cited reports that Justice Abdul-Azeez Waziri of a High Court in Adamawa State recently sentenced Alex Amos, Alheri Phanuel, Holy Boniface, Jerry Gideon and Jari Sabagi to death for culpable homicide.
The convicts were said to have allegedly on June 1, 2017, at Kadamun village in Demsa Local Government Area ‘willfully and intentionally conspired and attacked three herdsmen rearing cattle, killing one of them, Adamu Buba, whose body they threw into a river and also maimed several cows.’
“While CAN is not supporting jungle justice or any criminality, we note with regret how hundreds of our members in Southern Kaduna, Benue, Taraba, Plateau states in the North-central, and a state like Enugu in the South, have been killed and are still being killed daily by some criminals parading themselves as Fulani herdsmen, but are yet to be apprehended.
“While citizens stood helpless at the massacre of their peaceful fellow Nigerians, the international community watched in anguish how government security agencies could not bring perpetrators of these heinous killings to book,” he said.
While urging President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the death sentence passed on the Christian youths in Adamawa, he said the association’s legal team will secure and study the text of the judgement to prevent a miscarriage of justice and a future re-occurrence

The sentence is very deserving. Couldn't have come at a better time to prove Buhari isn't protecting anyone who's guilty from prosecution. Timibabaj: Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Dariye, evoked an overwhelming emotion last week when he broke down at a Federal High Courtroom and pleaded that justice is tempered with mercy.
He had just been handed 14 years sentence over allegations of corruption, which started some years back.
His mortifying grief and regrets were palpable. He momentarily lost himself to the unexpected that had just hit him. He probably had a quick reflection on life and its vanity.
He must have wondered too how he walked by himself through the path of corruption that eventually landed him in the jail as the wages of his many choices.
His excuse that he was misled was as insipid as his hushed, albeit pitiful tone. Truth is, the buck always stopped with him as the governor and so, he made his choice.
We all know that in previous administrations, cases like this go underground and are forgotten obviously because of how influential Dariye is.
So now I'm beginning to think that Buhari's administration has taken the fight against corruption a notch further, which is super impressive.
