Business / 5 Ways To Select The Best Employees To Work For You by Okonsyourguy(m): 11:02am On Jul 05, 2019
The employee recruitment process of an organisation determines the quality of its people.

All over the world, it’s an unarguable phenomenon that a company is only as successful as the sum of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and capabilities of its employees.

Adopting a random recruitment strategy where candidates are selected on impulse or without the step-by-step process of an assessment centre does no good for an organisation either in the long-term or short-term.

This danger is perceptible in many cases of failed organisations whose mission were put into jeopardy as a result of a wrong hire or incompetent executive.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Isn't The Currently Trending HR Outsourcing System A Subtle Mode Of Slavery? by Okonsyourguy(m): 10:12am On Jun 20, 2019
I know Workforce Group - one of the most renowned outsourcing companies in Nigeria do their best in taking care of their outsourced staff. They don't just outsource and forget you. Speaking from experience
smithsammy:
Outsourcing business functions to third party firms has become a trend in Nigeria. The field that has taken the lion's share is Human Resource Management (HRM). It seems some firms don't want to manage this function themselves anymore. They prefer contracting it to third parties.

Although there are different agreements that could be reached. One is contracting an HR firm to help your firm source and recruit talents and the contract closes when the former has recruited the talent and they've resumed at your firm (as full staff of your firm).

Another one (which is the most trending and most damaging to employees' career IMO) is firm entering into agreement with outsourcing HR firm to supply them staff for an agreed period of time. These employees remain the staff of the outsourcing firm. The firm they are deployed to would pay the outsourcing firm which would, in turn, pay the employees but that's after they have deducted some percentage which could sometimes be as high as 20%.

This, to me, is a big and subtle act of slavery. Can you imagine how much the outsourcing HR firms are making every month on all people they deployed to firms?

Now, one critical question I would want to ask is: are the companies contracting these outsourcing HR firms satisfied with making workers suffer -- with low pay and without career direction or promotion potential -- to the benefit of the outsourcing firms?

Please what career directions are there for an employee who's employed by an outsourcing firm and deployed to, say a bank, and whose career in the bank can halt should the contract between the bank and outsourcing firm seize?

And what promotion potential or career progressions are there for people working for outsourcing firms?

At least, as real staff of a firm, you're sure of promotion and pay rise when you reach a career milestone in the firm. What is the fate of an employee working in the same firm but is a staff to an outsourcing firm?

Although, when we look at it critically, HR outsourcing firms are creating value to their clients (firms). They provide you with employees whom you don't need to disturb yourself providing employees' benefits for. They are just like robots. You're not obligated to promote them or plan for their pension. Their career development is not your problem, too. The only thing you owe them is their monthly salary which is always nothing close to what you normally should pay your own (full) staff.

What does all this translates to for the firm? It translates to lower cost; and that's the value the outsourcing HR firms provide them.

On the right note, any firm that doesn't care about the career and standard of living of her employees but only wants to make money and mindlessly reduce cost is not a good firm IMO.

So, those who are working in the system already (working for ousourcing firms) should please enlighten us.

Is there something we are missing in this HR outsourcing job thing?

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: How To Identify A Scam Interview Invitation by Okonsyourguy(m): 1:51pm On Jun 11, 2019
This issue of scam interview invitations in Nigeria is alarming. But really, sometimes I wonder why people still fall for it.

As far as I've known over the years, there are very few serious agencies in Nigeria. Workforce Group comes out top for me. This is an outsourcing company in Nigeria that comes out highly recommended for me. Their recruitment and assessment services also... top notch.

whiteseaconsult:
I think it's a business outfit for those who wants to earn an extra income or start something better in life for themself..because I have a friend that went there too...but she has been jobless for a year after her NYSC..initially whn she got there...she wasn't happy....as she explained to me...cos what she was expecting is not what she met.As time goes on....she took the risk of paying a license fee and she started..with them...and she's earning good and doing fine..the place is not for job seekers. What I observed is that they used their own techniques to cajole people that it's a job,but it's meant for those who take chance to earn more income but not job..because people wants salary work..everywhere....for my own point of view it is LEGITE.dnt just let us conclude on what we .don't know...cos it's a choice..

Webmasters / Re: Web Design Nigeria: 5 Reasons Why Your Business Must Have A Website by Okonsyourguy(m): 10:48am On Aug 03, 2018
Guy! This thing too long sha oh. But me sef need blog. I go holla your number
UGOANUMZ:
Hello there...

Are you looking to start a business or you've already started?

Have you ever thought about the importance of having a website for your business? If you haven't, I'll tell you.

I know you probably have a Facebook page, an Instagram page, or a Twitter account and now you're wondering... "Why should I still have a website when I have all these social media accounts?"

LOL.

Let me tell you something:

Social media accounts are great to have. No doubt.

But the fact that they're free for you to use make them VERY RISKY to depend on.

You remember the saying that goes like this: 'You should never put all your eggs in one basket'?

Putting faith on just social media accounts can TOTALLY RUIN your business. No jokes.

Just a few days ago, some Twitter users woke up one morning and realized they couldn't log into their Twitter accounts.

How shocking that must have been.

Some of those Twitter users had over 100k followers. Yes. One hundred thousand followers!

Imagine your Twitter account for your business with over ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND FOLLOWERS GONE.

Just like that. Gone with the wind.

An account you worked so hard day and night to build.

Someone on Twitter board wakes up and decides he or she wants to have some fun and then goes on to suspend accounts at random.

There have been so many cases also where Facebook closed down people's business accounts for no reason at all. Same with Instagram.

That is so ridiculous, really.

But then, you can't blame these social media sites for closing your account whenever they feel like.

After all, you're not paying them any money. Or are you?

This is why you must take control of your business.

DO NOT HANG THE LIFE OF YOUR BUSINESS ON JUST SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS.

If you're serious about making money from your business in this modern and tech age, then you must get a website.

Here's why you must get a website for your business:

1.) A website is the only space you can have online and be in total control of

You can never have total control of a social media account.

2.) If you have a business and don't have a website, you are losing great opportunities for that business

Research has shown that 5 times out of 10, the moment a client is about to do business with you, they'll go online and search to see if
you have a website.

3.) Having a website shows credibility

It makes your potential clients trust you more. Anyone can create multiple social media accounts and swindle people because they are
free to create.

Don't get me wrong. People still swindle with websites but it's not as rampant as with social media accounts.

4.) A website can be used to accomplish different marketing strategies to help your business grow

With the advancements in the digital world these days, there are no limits to what you can achieve with your website.

You can track who visits your website, and items they clicked on. These data will help you provide more value to your potential
customers.

5.) A website is the center of your business' or company's online presence

Not a social media account that can be yanked off anytime.

These are just a few reasons why you must get a website for your business. There are tons of other reasons.

At Digital Metrics, we design beautiful websites that look great on all screen sizes.

And you know the best part?

They are VERY AFFORDABLE.

We design to your specification... blogs, company websites, e-commerce websites, websites for schools, churches, online forums... You name it.

Romance / Re: If She Cheats While Sharing Wedding Card!! by Okonsyourguy(m): 6:55pm On Jul 26, 2018
Ex rushes her for the last time and she didn're report him for rape? She's gonna have a hard time convincing anyone of her innocence. She shouldn't have taken the card to her ex in private in the first place, knowing how emotionally charged the environment can be. The horse has bolted from the barn already. My heart is broken for her...she's at the mercy of her beau now...goodluck to her

bukkyemotions:
Sorry, though my username is not my real name, but what can a lady do if she mistakenly sleeps with someone when she goes to give the person her wedding card. Let's say when she goes to give a wedding card to her ex & the ex rushes her for the last time & sleeps with her, & when she is done, she avoids the ex forever. Should she confess to fiance or just repent to do it no more?

Just asking a general question.
Politics / Re: Former AMCON CEO's Tweet About $300m Nigeria Air Is Misleading And Mischievous by Okonsyourguy(m): 3:37pm On Jul 22, 2018
Thank you for clearing the air on this matter. Some Nigerians have decided to jettison common sense in a lame attempt to discredit the Buhari administration. It is well with Nigeria. Buhari has been doing a decent job in the past few months (elections campaigns or not), he should get plaudits when he and his team do something right

PassingShot:
I read with great shock the outright lie tweeted by Mustafa Chike-Obi and posted on the FP of Nairaland (https://www.nairaland.com/4631046/mustafa-chike-obi-former-amcom-boss) about the initial capital for the newly unveiled national carrier - Air Nigeria. The claim by the former AMCON Boss that $300m initial capital for the national carrier represents 5% of the initial capital is not only misleading but mischievous and unpatriotic.

For clarification sake, the $300M is the total initial capital required for the first three years of the airline and it is only 5% (max.) of this amount ($15m) that the FG is obliged to contribute. It's the private investors that will contribute the remaining balance of $285m.

The above position was clearly reported by Reuters here http://www.africanews.com/2018/07/20/nigeria-air-seeks-strategic-partner-to-invest-300// where it clearly stated “The initial capital is likely to be in the range of $US 150 to 300 million, invested in tranches over time from start up through the first years of operation,” a government document stated.

It was also clearly reported by Vanguard here https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/07/nigeria-air-to-gulp-8-8m-preliminary-cost-300m-as-take-off-cost/ . Punch clarifies the 5% stake of the FG in the Project by stating “The Nigerian Government will not own more than 5% (maximum) of the new National Carrier. Government will not be involved in running it or deciding who runs it,” he said http://punchng.com/breaking-nigeria-unveils-name-of-national-carrier-logo/

Now, if the man who prides himself a mathematician is to be correct with his tweet, is he now saying that the initial capital is $6bn? If $300m is 5%, surely the 100% required initial capital required must be $6bn. Chike-Obi needs to tell us where (if it exists anywhere at all) he got his own figure from.

The tweet by the Mustafa, just as that by Oby Ezekwesili should be of great concern to all patriotic citizens of our country who genuinely seek to see Nigeria develop and succeed. Their tweets are a clear indication that many Nigerians do not mind cutting their nose to spite their face! They hate the president so much and if the total failure of the country is the only thing that must happen to justify their hatred for the president, it's all well and good in their own books.

Travel / Nigerians Stranded In Russia After World Cup Tournament Begin To Return Today by Okonsyourguy(m): 5:05pm On Jul 20, 2018
According to Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the repatriation of Nigerians stranded after attending the 2018 WorldCup in Russia begins today. 230 of them have been cleared to return via an Ethiopian Airline flight to Abuja.

The gist is over 150 stranded Nigerians were among the fans who travelled to the Russian Federation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament that besieged the Embassy of Nigeria in Moscow on July 12th. Harsh conditions were awaiting them after they got stranded because of lack of funds for their upkeep, as well as allegations of shady airline travel agents cancelling their return tickets without their knowledge.

Buhari was said to have stepped in to intervene immediately news of the stranded Nigerians reached his ears earlier in the week. He on July 16 directed the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Aviation to evacuate the Nigerians to Abuja. Kudos to President Buhari for saving those stranded Nigerians from the cold streets of Russia. Buhari did well, didn't he?

Bravo Buhari...way to go. The training will help develop skilled hands in the short and logn term. Good work, Buhari

Babayero212:
Anambra Motors Manufacturing Company - ANAMMCO - had downsized in 2011 due to the unfavourable conditions but has recalled 200 of the staff that had been laid off when production was revived under the Buhari-led administration. This is a clear indication that the Buhari govt is really supportive and well directed.

The FG is partnering with ANAMMCO to train beneficiaries of N-Build, a sub-component of @npower_ng under the @NSIP_NG. FG is supporting ANAMMCO to train youths in Automobile services in a bid to revive apprenticeship culture of Nigerians and fill the gap in Automobile sector.

Politics / Re: 4 Major Achievement Of The Buhari Administration by Okonsyourguy(m): 8:22pm On Jul 19, 2018
So manyn challenges but Buhari doing a good job still.

Chi12baby:
National security

The President ran his political campaigns on the restoration of national security.

Today, the 14 local government areas have not only been reclaimed by the military, there is also free movement in the areas.

Perhaps, one piece of cheery news that excited the government was the rescue of one of the 219 Chibok schools girls, Amina Ali, abducted by Boko Haram two years ago.

Anti-corruption war

The fight against corruption defines Buhari’s administration.

The APC government has given the anti-corruption agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, and the judiciary, the liberty to fully launch offensives against corruption and its agents.

This has seen high profile cases with suspects such as a former National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, a former Chief of the Air Staff, Alex Badeh, with the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP, amongst others connected with the $2.1 arms deal.

No one would ever believe that a Nigerian court would be trying a sitting Senate President who is a chieftain of the ruling party.

Economy and governance

The 2016 budget has provided a road map and appropriate monetary templates for the economy under Buhari.

As the economy is down, efforts are being made to diversify it by investing hugely in agriculture.

Other policies undertaken by the government include the reintroduction of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, where all public funds are channelled into one bank account.

The introduction of Bank Verification Number, BVN, to detect ghost workers amongst others.

There is also the introduction of social welfare packages to help low income Earners.

National image

This is one area Buhari has got a passmark by his assessors.

But the president, upon his assumption of office, undertook some foreign trips within and outside Africa to re-establish Nigeria’s position in the global arena and solicit support for Nigeria and Africa.

The visits saw him go to France, South Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Germany where he attended the G7 summit.

The national carrier is the way to go. Nigerians are bursting with pride over this development. Buhari did a great job with this, kudos to Minister Sirika too.

Timibabaj:
The federal government, Wednesday, unveiled the name, logo and selected 81 routes for the much awaited national carrier. This was done by the Minister of State for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika at the ongoing Farnborough International Airshow in London.

According to the minister, the name of the national airline is Nigeria Air, while the logo is Nigeria coat of arms with the national flag draping on it.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo Lampoons Buhari Again, Says Government Confused by Okonsyourguy(m): 4:44pm On Jul 19, 2018
You know you're not doing well as a Nigerian leader if OBJ doesn't knock you. He slandered the late Yar'Adua and Jonathan for wanting to chart different progressive courses in their stewardship to Nigerians, it's Buhari's turn to get criticized. It's okay for Obasanjo to criticize Buhari but the manner he has gone about it is rather suspicious.

Is Obasanjo threatened or envious Buhari's achievements will eclipse his 8-year sojourn in Aso Rock and dislogde is dodgy legacy? The game is up for OBJ, Nigerians know his callous ways now. Buhari has won this good vs evil battle already, so OBJ can rest in his Otta Library/mansion. Buhari is doing his job well and good results are speaking for him. Sai Baba!!!

Politics / Re: The 2019 Election And The Preparation. by Okonsyourguy(m): 8:21pm On Jul 18, 2018
A serious man leaves no stone unturned. Buhari has done a good job of looking at INEC's election budget and acted on time.

Chi12baby:
The 2019 general election is scheduled to be conducted early in 2019.

To ensure that adequate arrangements are made for free and fair elections, it has become necessary to appropriate funds to enable the relevant agencies to commence preparations.

INEC and the security agencies have accordingly recently submitted their requests.

These have been subjected to the usual budget evaluation. The aggregate cost of the election is estimated at N254,445,322, 600.

“However, in line with the prevailing fiscal constraints, I am proposing that the sum of N164, 104, 792, 065 be provided for through virement or supplementation of the 2018 budget.

I propose that the balance of N78, 340, 530, 535, mostly related to personnel allowances, fuelling and other costs not required until election proper, be provided in their 2019 budget.

The lawmakers had introduced 6,403 projects into the budget amounting to N578bn.

“Accordingly, I invite the distinguished Senate to consider, in the national interest, relocating some of the funds appropriated for the new projects which were inserted into the 2018 budget proposal totalling N 578, 319, 951, 904 to cover the sum of N228, 854, 800, 205 required as noted above.

“A schedule setting out a comprehensive list of these inserted projects is attached to this letter for ease of your consideration. Further to the above, kindly find attached a supplementary budget and virement proposal for your consideration.

Buhari promised to do everything possible to ensure that the 2019 general elections are free, fair and peaceful.

He said all hands were on deck to forestall the violence that characterised the 2011 elections which necessitated investigations by the International Criminal court at Hague.

Scores of Nigerians were killed in parts of the country in the wake of the violence that broke out after the 2011 elections.

Politics / Re: Rep Withdraws From 2019 Race Cos Of Bad Name by Okonsyourguy(m): 7:43pm On Jul 18, 2018
Buhari has never chiecked out of any challenge before. That's why the Nigeria project is safe in his hands than any other politician

Babayero212:
In this same Nigeria that people are always in a hurry to contest for another tenure, here we have a Rep willing to step down because he just does not want to taint his reputation. The corrupt reputation we have ascribed to politicians all around.

Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu is this different Nigerian willing to go to these lengths to protect his reputation. According to him, he has not taken money for some thing not open.

He even openly stated his salary and his allowance.

Why am I writing this though? I think what he is doing is great but why leave now?
Why leave when he can stay and make changes to what he does not want.

Imagine if Buhari leaves the seat simply because people do not think he is doing a great job?

Buhari is holding it down and correcting things and that is what Hon. Abubakar Chika Adamu should do in my opinion really.

Why go when you can stay and make a change?
Your thoughts though?

Politics / Re: Buhari's Demonstration Of Intentional Leadership by Okonsyourguy(m): 7:25pm On Jul 18, 2018
You can't help but like the vibes coming from Buhari right now. He has a penchant for doing the right thing and handing out excellent results. The ICC trip is a great way to be intentional in his leadership, it was great. Good job, Buhari

Timibabaj:
It is expected of every leader to be intentional in their manners and ways because if you want to experience significant progress toward your goal, you need to be intentional about the work you are doing every day.

Intentional living has been said to be the art of making our own choices before others' choices make us.

The art of being procreative instead of being reactive in the face of challenges and decisions.

Being procreative gives you control and reactive puts you under the control of the one who is several steps ahead of you.

Being intentional is a key requirement of good leadership.

For President Muhammadu Buhari, the trip to the Netherlands could not have come at a better time. It would afford him the opportunity to demonstrate intentional leadership about the current situation of the country, its security, socio-economic state and human rights records.

Baba will always play 'politics' but they're not adopting the delegate method here, which makes it a bit more tasking for even Tinubu. The popularity of the candidates will play a huge role, more than anyother factor here...

Politics / APC Records N127million In Sales Of Forms To Osun Governorship Aspirants by Okonsyourguy(m): 2:30pm On Jul 18, 2018
The APC has upped their transparency game by announcing the earning of N127million from the purchase of sales to its Osun State governorship candidates in the state's forthcoming polls. 17 aspirants were cleared by the APC to contest at tomorrow’s primary, with each paying N7.5 million to participate in the contest.

Take a minute, reflect and applaud the APC for this reporting. This is accountability, transparency and a veritable way Nigerian political parties could fund their activities and not put their hands in the cookie jar.

If other political parties had been this transparent (and not chop-clean-mouth) since the 4th Republic, who knows where Nigeria would be now? This is the #BuhariEffect we're talking about. Keep it up, APC! #Accountability #Transparency https://vanguardngr.com/2018/07/apc-reaps-n127-million-from-sale-of-forms/

Fantastic one from the Transport Ministry. Thank you Buhari for stepping in the train network administration and making it work for good.

Babayero212:
In tune with the recent Train station commissioned in Abuja, news reaching us now says that If you're going to Abuja Airport from the City Centre, You can take the TRAIN for free throughout this month. Buhari said so.

Start enjoying free train rides to see how awesome things are now in Abuja.

Please remember to come and tell us your experience here so that we can start looking for how we will experience the great train station that Buhari has set up in place for us all to enjoy and appreciate.

Crime / Re: Buhari Invitation To ICC by Okonsyourguy(m): 8:41pm On Jul 17, 2018
Human rights records have improved compared to previous years. Buhari is putting Nigeria in positive light, that;'s why the invite came through. Great job, Buhari

Chi12baby:
Nigeria will be at the center-stage of global attention as President Muhammadu Buhari addresses the International Criminal Court, Tuesday, July 17, 2018.

Our leader is the only President invited to grace the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the ICC Rome Statute.

President Buhari will share his thoughts on the values and ideals of the Court, which was established to prevent impunity, and try cases of genocide, war crimes, aggression, and crimes against humanity.

There’s an arguement as to the reason for this invitation.

I personally believe that it’s because he has been able to combat this security situation in Nigeria.

Hence the invitation to share experience and lessons.

Haters are only crying foul because they have something to hide. They will be alright. Buhari is doing a good job

Timibabaj:
It was once unthinkable to touch or prosecute the ‘‘big men’’ for corruption in Nigeria but President Buhari has ended impunity for corruption.

The Buhari administration has lived up to its expectations. The administration has made accountability the bedrock of governance and corruption is no longer fashionable because it attracts consequences.

In Nigeria’s history, it would be noted that Buhari's administration that was able to bring a SAN of the federal republic to book on the grounds of corrupt practices.

It'll stop being hopeless when you stop trolling. A lot more could happen if we back up and let the government work and if we're aggrieved, there's always the ballot box. Bad-mouthing someone because you don't like them won't change anything anyways.

Abjay97:
Wow!! All these goodies!

When will he bring the latest bullet trains to Nigeria, since we can build our own?

When will he import exotic animals for a world class zoo, since we kill the animals here because of hunger?

When will he amend the strict laws of Nigeria for business to encourage foreign investors, instead of bringing them in and they pack up after a year?

Sometimes i try to believe this country is not hopeless.. but that may be the hard truth...

Politics / 3 Things Buhari Is Bringing Back Home From His Visit To The Netherlands by Okonsyourguy(m): 4:29pm On Jul 17, 2018
Where pessismists see problems, optimists see possibilities. When President Buhari left for the Hague in the Netherlands on Sunday, he left with a bag full of problems; stabilizing the economy, improving security of life and property, job creation etc. Judging by the round table meetings he was able to have with the Dutch business community, he is coming back home with a bag full of solutions and business opportunities.

During his ICC anniversary visit, President Buhari had a quick chat with over 20 CEOs of Dutch-owned companies to discuss various business opportunities like;
i. Textile Park (with Vlisco),
ii. the building of Cattle Ranches (with Cownexxion) and
iii. Dairy Project (with Friesland Campina - owners of Peak Milk ) which would use 100% locally sourced milk.

What other business openings is Buhari coming back home to Nigeria with? Job creation opportunities, training for dairy farmers, and provision of fortified milk for school pupils and a host of other opportunities. Buhari was elected to find solutions to Nigeria's problems and the way he's going about it in the past few months has been brilliant. All he needs is supportive criticism to get him going in the right direction.

What do you guys think?

Politics / Re: Will The EFCC Go After Fayose? by Okonsyourguy(m): 12:45am On Jul 17, 2018
Fayose has a lot to answer for, he can't escape the EFCC's next. I wish him luck after his immunity runs out. The war against corruption isn't Buhari's alone, it's for the benefit of Nigeria.

Timibabaj:
From the result of the just concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti state, it is now glaring that Fayose's immunity is expiring in a few weeks time.

This is a governor who keeps owing workers' salaries, not to mention the poultry project he mismanaged funds for.

Considering Buhari's promise to rid the country of corruption in every sector, do you think the EFCC would be giving Fayose an invitation anytime soon?
