PoliticsRe: Lagos 2015: Solomon Meets LG Bosses, Gets Group’s Backing by ola6: 10:38am On Aug 31, 2014
barcanista: ‘’He urged the gathering to buy in and take ownership of the drive to put behind us the culture of imposition and enthrone internal democracy in our party, a move that will ultimately entrench participatory democracy in the state and our nation at large. He also canvassed the support of the senior LG officials for his candidacy at the party’s primaries.”
GOS going the way of Otunba Femi Pedro of 2007. I can assure him that even in his Mushin he will be floored. GOS has been a Chairman LGA, Rep member 2003 to 2007 and Senator 2007 to 2015. All in all he never won primaries nor ticket. He was given on a platter of Gold. He's a product of endorsement. Anyway, whether in APC primaries or the main election he will lose big time to Akinwunmi Ambode. This is 2007 repeating again. The Council of Obas led by Rilwan Akiolu has endorsed Ambode and has so advised others to drop their aspiration or be embarrassed @ the general poll and primaries. I believe APC primaries will still hold(as it was in 2007) but Ambode will triumph. GOS is VERY inconsequential in Lagos politics and overrated by the media
You will be very surprised!!! But why does Tinubu imposing candidateshuh Is he scared of a proper election? Mind you, no election has been conducted since 1999 because of this said man. GOS should have joined his contemporaries against Tinubu then when they rallied against him. Yes Pedro is useless as far as Lagos politics is concerned but not GOS. Ignore him at your own peril....

rickkid: Pls you too stop saying what you don't know. IVM has a showroom in Lagos at Oshodi-Apapa expressway, it's not their fault you haven't been there. And when your demand consistently overshoots your supply, what business do you have advertising instead of expanding production? Isn't that was IVM has been doing this year? They got a $20m loan from AFREXIM Bank to expand their factory, where were you when this was happening?
All you do is sit in your room and criticise aimlessly without even having knowledge of what you are criticising.
Rickkid,

As a customer, once another company/shop provides what I want at my door step or closely why should I go all the way to Oshodi? How many show rooms does IVM have in Lagos ? One show room for 21 million people ba? So people on the Island who can probably afford these cars more than the mainlanders should go all the way to Oshodi to buy car? Please be objective.

Demand from who? FG probably but not Nigerians. Hence my initial statement that the FG really boasted him. To compete on even grounds, IVM might not stand because it has ignored the individual buyers which is important. Or are you telling me the 100 people that buy his vehicles a year means demand have overshot supply abi ki ni eleyi nso? huh

All I want is a Nigerian brand that can compete with other brands, and if possible, export her vehicles to other neighboring countries. What if GEJ leaves Tomorrow and no more government patronage? Can he stand? Who will buy? Do you now see my point? Now is the time not later but NOW!

Anyway sha, he needs more presence in Lagos. My advise...

How I just wish Innoson gets serious by moving it down to Lasgidi. I only see a very few in Lagos but with Anambra plates. Also, he needs to invest in publicity and adverts. The FG has helped him greatly compared to his competitors(I know of one leyland or whatever in Ibadan but that guy is not serious. Just buses for government patronage? Talk about laziness and lack of creativity. Although, LASG has patronised him greatly) but he now needs to explore and exploit ways to truly consolidate the market by increasing variety, reducing the prices and increase the distribution outlets.

Lastly, he needs, if he can, increase production rate and hence flood the market with his cars. Can't wait for the sedan though....

cushycute: Then that should tell you something; is either they re in it together until things went wrong now or one is always paid to keep quiet. GEJ was sane and right when he said BH re in his cabinet, but he couldn't do anything to tackle it because unveiling of the BH sponsors would lead unveiling of his dirty secrets too, which shouldn't be heard now. Also most of the raw cash in Nigeria is located in the SE but the total raw cash transaction of an economy is 20% as a rule of thumb. So where is the remaining 80% cash located. Your guess is as good as mine... wink

This is a reply to the guy that said most of the cash in Nigeria is in Anambra and co
PoliticsRe: Nigeria: Its Zonal Populations And Zonal Economic Contributions by ola6: 12:03am On Aug 27, 2014
The SE is more densely populated than the North, SW and SS. The key word here is DENSELY not MORE as there is no evidence to prove for or otherwise. This makes competition stiff compare to other regions. It is natural for any densely populated area to be highly competitive. This makes the people of the region individualistic rather than cooperative. Hence, there are a lot of stalls and shops. No really mega business, at least, not that I have noticed sha except Shoprite in Enugu.
In a bid to survive the competition, the people live their various states for a less populated state (less competitive), hence, their population in Lagos, Warri, PHC, Kano etc.

One thing also going for the cities mentioned is the FG presence. It cannot be over emphasized. The FG presence in Lagos built a sea port and THRID mainland bridge, necessary for economic growth. Also in Warri, the refinery, sea port, Chevron Nigeria (a combination of NNPC FG and Chevron) Shell et al. PHC same thing. Kano, though, I have not being there but I am almost certain there is FG presence there.

The FG presence in the SE has been minimal tbh and unless something is done fast, I'm afraid. Not just any FG presence like a river port or that thing they built on River Niger ( it really was a wasted investment) but a unique FG infrastructure that will make people leave their various states or the SE. Maybe an Institute of Technology or Public administration, that will make people travel down to stay at least for 4 years or so like the one in PHC (IPS) or the one in Onne (marine institute or whatever).

Also, the issue of tax cannot be ignored. One thing about APC states is that they tax like crazy, hence their spike in IGR.

Now, my humble contribution

I have been to all SW states apart from Osun and I have been to Abia, Imo and Enugu. Each region has its challenges.

Since the op is more concerned about the SE, I'll base my comments on majorly the SE. The SW has her own problems.

PoliticsRe: 2015 Presidential Election: How The Governors Stand by ola6: 10:57pm On Aug 26, 2014
Unemadu: Abeg olusolawarrior has a point. the point being that Nigeria is still strongly tribal/religious whether you admit it or not. besides most Nigerians are hypocrites only paying lip service to issues like these.
For example suggest that an easterner become governor of lagos state and all hell will let loose. Typical
All hell will let lose because you are telling a people that they are not in control of their political destiny while you are in full control of yours. You should stop the hypocrisy, not me....and enough of the petty emotional blackmail. What exactly do you mean by "typical"?! Can you see how hypocritical you are yourself? In your mind, you conveniently stereotyped me because I am a PROUD YORUBA MAN and I made an opinion about MY STATE, not yours but MY STATE. Don't I, a Lagosian have a right to compare and contrast who rules my state especially, a non-Lagosian?

I don't care if you think this is bigotry, however, though we are all Nigerians, I will feel much more comfortable with a fellow Yoruba man as the governor. Why you ask? The same reason you will feel uncomfortable to have Buhari as your president or Nyako as the Governor of your state.

If you preach change, why can't the change happen from your state. Why another man's state?

Igbos forcing the issue makes it seem like they are desperate to govern Lagos. This is being interpreted or misinterpreted as a plan to annex or enslave or what have you, Lagos state. The more it's forced, the more the resistance and resentment.

...and if it is to tackle the issue head on. I will suggest every one to let the ethnic angle of who governs Lagos or any state sly and die organically. That way nobody will see it as a siege or hostile take over. Currently, it is ONLY the Igbos, out of over 250 ethnic groups that reside in Lagos, that are screaming the loudest. It makes one wonder why?

Hope you get my point?

whatlyf: Bros GOS is only a tout and nothing else. Koro, Agbaje, Prince Adeniji Adele,Afikuyomi, even Buknor Akerele will FLOOR him one-on-one any day, any time. As for Agbeje, his best bet would have been DPA considering that Falae enjoys popularity among APC faithfuls including Tinubu and also Agbaje is loved by APC grassroot members because of his role in the party between 1998 and 2007. In fact, Jay Kay is Okay but PDP as a platform will ruin him.
@the red
That is wrong. Falae and Tinubu are like oil and water.

@the purple

That is the reason he will not win the PDP primaries. People know this already. I simply laughed hard when one small boy was telling me that Agbaje was not involved with Tinubu.

On a side note, it is refreshing talking to someone who knows Lagos politics. Not the numerous loudmouths here. As we edge closer to the elections, I'll like to see if your opinions change.

soroptimist: I dont know where you got your 'Tinubu is scared of Solomon' mantra........

Tinubu only did what was expedient as at that time in order to break the backbone of those who were aggrieved with his support for Fashola

GOS has had his glory days in Mushin politics where he served as 2time Chairman.......His influence does not cover 1/10 of Lagos West Senatorial district which he represents of which Alimosho LGA is among

Infact if he doesn't watch it Hon Dauda Kako-Are will displace him

GOS is only doing initial gra-gra that is symptomatic of politicians who only want compromised compensation by first making noise but will be later pacified

GOS doesn't have the charisma, oratorical prowess, personality to Govern Lagos........or since he has been in the senate, have you heard much about him?

Lagos is for the brightest and brainy.................
GOS is proper Mushin man. Don't underestimate him. He is independent in mind and that is what Mushin people love about him apart from his generosity. Some are even saying Oluomo is backing GOS. Most politically enlighten people know Tinubu, fortunately or unfortunately, is SCARED of independent men. Lagos is Tinubu's power house. Take Lagos and he is finished. The importance of who sits in power in Lagos is more important to Tinubu than what the person can actually do. Because of this Tinubu cannot use GOS or Agbaje.
PoliticsRe: 2015: Lagos PDP Seeks To Break 16-year Jinx. by ola6: 3:30pm On Aug 26, 2014
whatlyf: Honestly and without any iota of partisanship, Lagosians won't mind electing another Tinubu anointed because Fashola (a Tinubu boy) performed considerably well. Wunmi Ambode is not new to Civil Servants and the enlightened. He is a person of impeccable character, intelligent and a good manager of Resources. Ambode was the brain behind Lagos State Economic Survival during the year 2004-2007 period of withheld funds. Despite this, he remained in the background without taking credit. In fact that Federal Seizure was a blessing in disguise to Lagos State. He's humble to a fault like Fashola and a core professional. Virtually all the Obas are Behind Ambode's candidature led by Oba Rilwan Akiolu. See in Lagos State, once the influential personalities (Not necessarily political office holders) endorses a candidate in unison, that candidate is sure to go. Tinubu understands how to play his game.

Omo Isale Eko?
lol
Lol...good to know I'm am talking to someone who knows lagos wella...

Yes Ambode is all these and more but first of all, Lagosians (especially Lagos Island) want their own there. Since democracy, no Lagosian has ruled his state.

Ambode is from Ondo state ILaje...lol. Yes he is Yoruba but from Ondo state not Lagos and at this present moment, LI people don't want to hear it except the loyalist of the political Oba (oba rilwan who was installed by Tinubu instead of the Baloguns or Adebisi )

Secondly, except from "us" elites (I used elites because we have access to pathetic internet) people are tired of Fashola's high handedness, elites policies and his arrogance. There is no single infrastructure one can point to on the Mainland apart from Shoprite in Sutulere and the access roads (Fashola is from Surulere), and Ikeja (state capital). Nothing for the people on the mainland.

His thugs in uniform called Lastma damaged his reputation even more. Good policy, bad implementation.

Now Tinubu, he has been enriched beyond comprehension by Fashola. His wealth is at par with Dangote and this is not an exaggeration. Below was my comment sometime back. People know these things. Now Ambode is there to consolidate? Never o! No to Ambodillion! grin

APC is for Tinubu. Nigerians are not ready to sell they birthright to one man's political empire. Check out Lagos already: Wife -Senator, Son in law - House of rep, Son in law- House of assembly, Daughter - Iyaloja, Tinubu - AlphaBeta (a company that collects 1Billion Naira MONTHLY from Lagos State), Oriental Hotel, First Airline, Shares from Lekki Tolls LCC, Oando, Royal Garden Estate 150 Hectares in Ajah, Hitech, Lakowe Resort, ABC Consortium, the Nation Newspaper, TVC, Radio Continental, 1 hectare Land in No4 Oyinkan Abayomi formal Queens drive valued at 450 Million, 26 Burdillion Road Ikoyi valued at 600 Million Naira, Lagos state Guesthouse at Asokoro valued at 450 Million, ADIVA project, 157 Hectare with 2.5 Kilometers valued at 10 Billion in IGBEKODO, Apakim Ibeju Lekki; Park view Estate Ikoyi 14 Hectares, Strabag Yard beside Lagos State Secretariat Alausa Ikeji, Multi level Recreational centre beside Mobil in Oniru Estate valused at 25 Billion, New era foundation Youth camp at Eleko, Fara Park Estate, Beech Wood Estate etc.

Haba, NA ONLY HIM and his family?!
This why our collective heritage cannot be given or left with Tinubu, not in Lagos, South West or Nigeria
PoliticsRe: 2015 Presidential Election: How The Governors Stand by ola6: 3:15pm On Aug 26, 2014
OlusolaWarrior: This isn't about Lagos but about the Nigeria that we all own. I didn't say that Easterners will determine who becomes governor of Lagos even though that in itself is arguable. I'm talking about the presidential election which is the collective and we cannot ignore the fact that regional powers play a significant role. But we can't just look at regions alone since every region has autonomous states. The basis for bringing this topic to the table is to get us Nigerians thinking as our destiny is in our votes and we need to use it wisely. Let us address the issues to understand what every candidate brings to the table. If you are in support of the APC no matter the candidate they bring to the table you should look at the facts and analyse the weaknesses of your candidate or party so that you know your fate before election day. No man goes to battle without understanding the strengths and weaknesses of his opponent.
I got you the first time. You don't need to explain. However, you are still making the same mistake with the bolded. They do have a right to vote and be voted for but YOU make it sound like other groups have no say. I mean, what exactly is "arguable" ? The implicit information you are relaying is that all the Yorubas in Lagos, possibly, have no say in the Gubernatorial elections in Lagos.

Dude, you might be Igbo for all I care (you can be anything online) but please be careful with some of your words or choice of words because there is sentiment brewing out there and who knows what might ignite it. Stay safe. I'm out.
PoliticsRe: 2015: Lagos PDP Seeks To Break 16-year Jinx. by ola6: 3:02pm On Aug 26, 2014
Tinubu is scared of Solomon because he is his own man. The fear of losing control grips him. Even the mild drama with Fashola scared the shit out of Tinubu. How much more Solomon the Mushin man...lol. Hence, the need for him to impose Ambode; a man he can control like Fashola.
PoliticsRe: 2015: Lagos PDP Seeks To Break 16-year Jinx. by ola6: 3:00pm On Aug 26, 2014
whatlyf: Bros I laugh at the OP and the Journalist that wrote the article. Ambode is very sellable and will DEFEAT any PDP candidate.. In fact PDP will work against themselves as usual. I trust the Never ending Koro Vs Bode George feud, with the dissatisfied Seye Ogunlewe as usual instructing his men to vote for APC , remember his brother is an APC Chieftain and served as HOS under Tinubu's Administration. But for PDP ticket, I see Ade Dosunmu clinching it in a free and fair primaries with Koro taking second.
Bros, this is the second time I'm typing this. YOU KNOW LAGOS WELL. Are you sure you no bi Omo Isale Eko? Okay, I agree with you except that Ambode is sellable. The sentiment among the people is that Ambode is Tinubu's boy and most are tired of Tinubu's influence in Lagos. Even within APC, if Ambode is imposed, it will be catastrophic .
PoliticsRe: 2015 Presidential Election: How The Governors Stand by ola6: 2:53pm On Aug 26, 2014
OlusolaWarrior: It is easy to make such analogies as this. Does it make sense if you're from Rivers State and your governor tells you to vote for someone from the North? What will a candidate from the North do for you? And if you come down to Lagos, what is the general sentiment in Lagos? For the North to remain in power? And Lagos is not only populated by Yorubas but by a large number of Easterners as well. I admire your logic but I do not agree completely. Your position is probable only with regard to Kano State. Not to Rivers or Lagos State.
Dude, I know you love GEJ. So do I. But don't make it sound like we Lagosians are not in-charge of our political destiny. It's insulting. Are you saying Easterners will dictate what happens in Lagos? What about other Yorubas from other states?! Are you saying their sensibilities don't matter?! Please watch it. It's annoying and insulting.

Mr Deji Doherty is a popular man in Lagos grassroots. However, I don't see him wining the primaries.
Mr Gbadamosi is young and energetic. Also very intelligent however, he lacks the grassroots charisma needed.

The primaries is between Mr Agbaje, Mr Obanikoro and Dr Ade Dosunmu.
PoliticsRe: Tom Ikimi Resigns From APC by ola6: 2:13pm On Aug 26, 2014
APContherun: You are right bro. As much as I love PGEJ and have a soft spot for PDP I really do want a strong opposition to like you said keep PDP on its toes so it doesn't mess up. Unfortunately for us, APC has been anything but that strong alternative we all seek. They keep making it easy for PDP to stroll to victory next year. A party supposedly founded in progressive ideology should be progressive indeed, show Nigerians why they are better than PDP they seek to overthrow. I have to say that they have so far only shown Nigerians they are better in propaganda and lies.
Though APC supporters on nairaland would hate to admit it but Ikimi is a big loss to APC and a big gain to whichever party he decides to pitch tent with.
We are going to have an opposition but not APC. APC stands for evil bigots who's sole aim is to enslave Nigerians to Tinubu and possibly the "owners of Nigeria". APC reminds us Of the THRID Reich in Germany with Tinubu and Buhari championing the Hitler role.

I and many enlightened Yorubas stand for fairness, equity and justice. Evil only continues when good men refuse to speak up. We shall not be deceived by their propaganda...NO! We shall not!
