I am an awori by birth. Currently in Lagos and a Lagosian in every way. Awori is a subgroup of Yoruba. However, in terms of marginalisation, we are marginalised, that's the truth. However, Sanwoolu is an indigenous Lagosian so I guess the correction is being made.

Jesus... Majority of Nigerians lack critical reasoning. The bill says indegenes or non-indegenes with 20 years residency and strong language requirement. In Lagos, what language are we talking about here ? Yoruba, Awori, Egun or Ijebu because, if it were for only indegenes only Awori, Ijebu-ikorodu and Egun people will be members, so even for the general population of Yoruba's in Lagos who are not indegenes to become members, there needs to be this caveat in the law

Now as per non-Yorubas becoming members, Lagos is a cosmopolitan state, you have areas were majority of the populations are not Yoruba, so who protects that area ? I keep telling all my fellow Yoruba secessionists, we in Lagos will never allow for a breakup of Nigeria. Being a Lagos indegene is by lineage but being a Lagosian is simply by mentality, we are like New York, London, Toronto. E.g Dangote, Otedola, Adenuga might have been born in other parts of Nigeria but they are Lagosians. Dangote will tell you he is more a Lagosian than anything (even Kano), he can't live anywhere but In Lagos, so are the hundreds of property owners and 2nd born generations of non-Yorubas and even Yorubas born in Lagos.

Sattelite town, Festac that area, will the members be only Yoruba ? in areas where the population of non-yorubas are enough to elect non-yorubas as house of rep and assembly members?

Honestly, it was over the weekend, when I was speaking to folks in my neighborhood that I realized that a lot of people actually support the okada ban, but are careful about saying so in public.

In the early 90s, there were no Okadas. and we all walked to the bus-stop, so how did this thing grow so much till it became a huge nuisance? I drove past several major streets over the weekend, and for the first time in years realized just how wide the streets were, as Okada and Keke people had converted a large chunk of the road for loitering..

Also, if you dont know how big a threat these Okada people are, I beseech you to go to a number of streets in the middle of the mainland at 10pm upwards, and see literally dozens of Okada-men whith no homes, no identities sleeping on their bikes and ready to cause mayhem at the drop of a hat. Maybe then you would appreciate this ban. let the protest hold, we will all wait for the outcome, banning of this okada riders is not a bad step, however creating alternatives for them before the ban would have been a great move. now families of 100 of thousands of riders are now in pain and anger and will start opting for different illegal means of survival

A group of people plan to stage an #OccupyLagos protest at the Eko Atlantic City during the 2020 Lagos Marathon. The purpose of the protest is to get the government to reverse the restrictions on the operations of commercial motorcycles and auto rickshaws in some local governments in the state.

This year's Lagos Marathon will take place on Saturday the 8th of February, 2020 and the finish line will be at the Eko Atlantic City. Governor Babajide Sanwoolu and other invited guests are expected to be at the Eko Atlantic City to witness the end of the marathon and the event is expected to be broadcast live on satellite television. The protesters plan to stage their protest at the same place and time as the conclusion of the marathon.
