Contrary to what sureboy posted.... I think you can still meet the deadline for Lappeenranta University of Technology (Deadline is 27th of February) if
1. you are an engineering graduate
2. You have an international passport or u have about 20K to process it (it take 2days max)
3. Your school is proactive and u can get ur transcript in 2weeks
4. You have about 40K to prep for PTE Academics (I practiced for about 6 days and scored 73/90, the min accepted score is usually between 54 and 62).
5. Lastly u have about 30K to send your transcript and application using courier (DHL/UPS).
6. You can raise 1.5M before April/May 2015.

Since you are an OTONDO u should have enough time to get your certificates notarized, work on your motivation letter and get some reference letters.

So the ball is in your court, what are u going to do??

Cool, my application got to Finland last week Wednesday............. Let's hope for good news o...Aalto is my no 1 choice but as a naija man I applied to both TUT and LUT.

I just got a mail from Aalto University confirming that my application is eligible and it has been sent to academic evaluation.

Na to sit down wait for the final decision by April 7 sure pass.

it depends on the course and University.... I know that TUT and LUT admit more than 25 applicants in most of their courses.

I understand you perfectly, pass mark is usually 50.... but I think there is still a way to show grades like graduating with distinction, right?

You might have to discuss with your school's exams and record office to attach a signed note explaining how Med Sch in Nigeria results are graded. Na English go finish the work and small change to facilitate am sharp sharp.

After procrastinating for over 3weeks I finally took out time to draft a motivational letter for Aalto University, submitted my application some minutes to go.............whew!! one down, 3 to go... @least LUT's deadline is 27 Feb and TUT's deadline is 6 Feb, so I can procrastinate a little. This yeye busy season no kukuma let person see road, deadlines left, right and center.........

@kissmylips what did u and ur sister conclude on, concerning writing PTE Acad??

Una sabi worry una sef sha. Calculating ECTS. Na people like una dey collect extra sheet for exam hall wey dey vex people. Do not worry about stuff like this! Na people like una go tell lecturer to give assignment, remind am to collect am and mark am over 40. Y'all need to chill. That ECTS stuff is kinda complex. I'm not sure but I think 1 unit in a 5.0 cgpa naija uni is like 1.5 or 2 ECTS. I'm not really bothered, I sha don submit the application + transcript. Do your thing and leave the rest biko.

In other unrelated news... let's not make the thread boring. I did a small research. Finland or Norway. Omo... Norway make sense o. Okay, they're not as lenient with their immigration laws as Finland and probably things are cheaper in Finland but Omorrr!!! If there's one reason to dream about norway, just Google images or youtube for "Fjords in Norway". I was lost for over half an hour. See better connection with nature. u need to see for urself too.

Truetalk, Aalto University is a top tier school, forget the competition jare you can make the cut. I applied to Aalto too but I also selected one more top tier school in Tampere University of Technology and the not so prestigious Lappeenranta (funny spelling) University of Technology. I no wan hear story say Aalto go winchy me, man must enter Finland this year o.

I wrote my IELTS test today,it Ws ok bt am nt too sure i wil do well,cos of little or no preparation,considering d time frame,d result should b out by 23rd, wat if i dnt do well ....na to register for PTE sure pass(ThankGod for NYSC allowee) which ever1 i do well,dats wat i would use for my application.

Although,wat I did was copy all d questions for d different programs and schools in MS word,then would copy and paste wen I am ready.

Don't worry u will pass, after writing PTE Acad i thought i was going to mess up big time. Funny enough i did very well, scored perfect (90/90) in d writing section even though i didn't finish my essay. So just chill joor, God is in control

Hello Peeps, For guys that have not written the English Language test, I will advise you opt for PTE Academic. It's a computer based test.
I did mine on Wednesday (7 Jan 2015) by 10am and got my result on Thursday (8 Jan 2015) by 7am. From research I carried out online and from my personal experience it's easy to ace PTE Academic, the only draw back might be the speaking section, it involves some technicalities that can be learned by practicing. I practiced for about a week and scored 73/90 which is similar to 7.5 in IELTS (Listening - 75, Reading - 77, Speaking - 47, Writing - 90). The requirement for most schools is between 59 - 62 (6.5 IELTS).

You can practice from PTE official site, just google "PTE Academic", also vital information and tips can be found on an Indian forum for guys seeking for Australian residency google "expatforum PTE".

Cost - N38,600

Register - Online, PTE official site (using MasterCard or Visa card)

I hope this information will be useful to peeps that are running out of time and want to meet the Jan 31 deadline for most schools

You can meet up but you have to take so many things into consideration. Let's begin, for IELTS, the only means of ID accepted is Passport, even b4 u can register u need a passport number. If u can get ur passport with 2days (which is possible) then u can register for IELTS and at the same time order for ur transcript. In my sch for instance (OAU) ur transcript would be ready within 2-3days. The main challenge however, is getting a date for the IELTS for 10th of this month, ur result should be ready by 22nd or 23rd which is on time, anything after that date, u may not meet the January deadline for most schools. Finally, check for ur courses and schs, there are some schools that their dealine is February, with that u have ample time @ur disposal. As to ur final question, u don't need up to 150k for the processing. The bulk cash is consumed by IELTS (35k online, 38k bank draft)

I received an alert from GTbank for N100 as card maintenance fee. It sounds ludicrous, is it d card in my wallet they are maintaining? or some other card in their possession, lol ?
I can imagine d hundred of millions GTBank would have stolen fron their customers this Christmas.
