pro01: I didn't realise the extent of the ban on Okadas until I set out to some business within the Ikeja GRA Yesterday. Since I couldn't find an Okada to take me from Adekunle Fajuyi Street to Joel Ogunnaike Street (both within the GRA), a short distance for which the bikes ordinarily charge about N100, I had to take a taxi - guess what - for N600. At the end of the day, my three-way shuttle within GRA alone on taxis cost about 1,600! Ordinarily, it would have been N300 if it were through Okadas. By the time I was done for the day, I had spent about N4,500 on taxis. It would have been cheaper if I had gone out with my car, but I didn't have fuel and didn't have time to queue endlessly in a filling station. Then again, what about those who do not have their own cars? How do they afford to move conveniently around inner-city areas/routes not covered by buses? Taxis? If so, how many ordinary Lagosians can afford this?

@The Topic: I am in support of a law banning the use of loudspeakers, megaphones, or any P.A. systems, for that matter. They're all a source of public/environmental nuisance. About nine churches sorround my place of abode - they all compete (in their madness) for superiority at noisemaking! Recently, the particular one right across from house held a night vigil, as they always do every Wednesday. I was unable to sleep as they put their speakers outside and sang and clapped and screamed well into 2:30 AM. I tossed around my bed and tried to cover my head with my pillows, so as to afford some sleep, alas! I was so miserable infuriated. I got up and asked the securityman to open the gate - I went across, banged on their window and demanded to see their pastor. They were so scared (about 100 of them beng holed up in there jumping and cyclically gyrating) and ccould not believe that anyone could be so bold to the extent of coming out in the middle of the night to confront them. I asked them to ccut down the noise immediately. The lady preacher did not budge - but I stood there and didn't move even as some of the men came out to reassure me that they would cut it down. They had to go inside and force the loud and hysterical woman to shut up. They thereafter turned off the very speaker that was close to the street and closed shut their windows. And Peace eventually Reigned that early morning.
