Mehn, Nigeria is going through a lot.

ImperialCovfefe:

You can only get the coupon yields if you buy the Eurobonds directly (Secondary market). For that, you need at least $125k.

These other dollar bond funds are not transparent with their mark-to-market processes. They are probably afraid to show losses on their books for their retail clients. Maybe @ernie4life can shed more light on those for you.

You can get the daily fund prices/yields from FMAN's website: https://fman.com.ng/pricelist.
Thank you!
I am afraid I cannot invest in those funds because of lack of transparency. Buying Nigeria-issued Eurobond is enough risk in itself.
Since I cannot buy without up to 125K USD cash, I have to give up on the opportunity.

ImperialCovfefe:

I am really wondering how transparent these eurobonds funds are in their mark-to-market process. For example, Stanbic’s dollar fund is up ~2.5% YTD when the Nigerian eurobonds are down >20% YTD and just ~28% of the dollar fund is placement/money market.

@imperialcovfefe, Thanks for the heads up.
Can you help understand the image below relative to the current ~15% yield on Eurobonds. Is getting >700 units of the Stanbic USD fund on cowrywise a good deal for $1k USD (example)?

Another one is ARM Eurobond fund which is 75% eurobond. Help me understand how to calculate yield on the bonds relative to current market rates. Thanks.

FYI: For those interested

Nigeria's 2030 Eurobond is trading at $63/unit with a yield of 15.85%. That's a double of your money in USD if compounded for 5 years. That's a high hurdle rate for equities to beat.
How does one go about buying this? Any digital platform?

Everyone should do family planning or use contraceptives. Yoruba says “Omo bere, oshi bere”

Men, I am surprise at you! What is the difference then between a civil government worker and unknown person who may not be educated ? People like you should not near public service, every office has its own grace which should be honoured. Tell me the difference between this government official and an uneducated market woman?
There is no difference, they are both humans. And humans must at least, have the basic respect for one another.
The office of the citizen also has guidelines to honor. If you want to be treated with respect, respect others.
Come with facts, not emotions. I will show you public servants around the world insulting their fellow citizens at times of frustrations.
Abike can be excused for the outburst.

Abike has no fault. Obi ezekwesili has no point.
Our people need to be more polite when we speak to ourselves. You don’t insult and expect them not to insult back. It doesn’t matter if they are public workers or not.
When Buhari called them lazy yoots, what did they do?

Anyway, $1 is still N735/N740 (In Naira)

On our way to N900/N1,000 soon

God bless Nigeria!
The devaluation has been terrible. I feel it should be discussed more here.
The massive devaluation has taken a huge bite into the USD corresponding value of any Naira investment.
I listened to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi's speech at KadInvest and I am worried for Naira denominated assets/investments. May we not go the Zimbabwe way.

TB rates have moved up to 12%. Even if they left it at 6-10%, the 1 years bills will still get oversubscribed by pension funds and banks. Pension funds have limited options to mop up all that liquidity.

Lol, no be only you. I loaded more GTCO at 20 naira last month thinking I was buying the dip.
Right now, I am only hoping it goes lower. The current gross dividend yield is making it even more attractive (assuming they don't reduce dividend o) and the CRR increase doesn't eat into their income.

MPR increased to 15.5%
This is no good news for NSE.

Currently down on my FUGAZ holdings.
I am a bit liquid and considering my options:
1. Invest in NSE and load more FUGAZ (I wanted to do this but the rate hikes means I only love stocks that give >15% dividend returns)
2. Buy USD (At 720/$, I don't know if this is a good idea)
3. Buy T-Bills and stay liquid
4. Buy Bonds and get ~10% annually
5. Buy Crypto
6. Invest in land/property

Any suggestions? Open for comments

Who told you printing money increases the national debt
You're inferring what wasn't said. Printing money and lending it to the government (via ways and means) is what the CBN is doing.
The govt. uses the printed money to pay salaries and consume. It causes inflation in the short and long run.

Hello.....I know this must have been discussed here by....but with over 2000pages ,it'll be difficult to trace.

Well my concern is with this TB investment and the capacity of this government or the next to payback. I know govt can always print money but at wot point is it impossible to continue to print.

Nigerias debt profile is brutal......loan repayment is over 80% of our revenue.

I'm just concerned........uncertainty is too much

When faced with two difficult options of either defaulting on its debt or printing more money to pay back (which causes inflation), the government will definitely chose the latter.
The former will cause immediate social unrest so it is not even better. CBN has no choice but to continue printing Naira for the foreseeable future. In other words, naira will continue depreciating unless the government finds a solution to the revenue and spending problems.

By the way, CBN has also printed about 20 trillion for the government which is not even recorded yet in our debt. Once it is added, the debt figures will balloon.

I have tried almost all banks in the UAE and none is opening account for Nigerians as of now.
I must say I have never felt so disappointed at being a Nigerian as much as I feel now. How can we make it in a country that has alienated us from it's financial systems.
I have residency and Emirates ID.
All digital banks rejected me because I am Nigerian. My friends here from other countries opened without problems.
This is really terrible. I await Emirates NBD's response.

Please have you any idea if there is an option for locked staking on Binance...I want to lock away my busd for a long time without being able to break or have access to it until expiration of the lock period.

Binance gives 10% rate up to $4000.(Split 2k in BUSD and 2k in USDT flexible savings). Above that and the return rates are terrible.

Omo.

Banks have started fighting against Mobile Money Bank.

This won't end well.

Not a fight really. MTN had a bug in their code that pushed thousands of transactions through nibss to other banks.
The banks credited customers accounts accordingly and some already moved it out.
MTN is trying to reclaim the transferred funds by asking banks to freeze all those accounts. That is where the current problem is.

I don't understand the government organisations again o! Offering about 9% in an economy that the inflation rate is officially inching towards 20%. Always spinning some surprise on their citizens.

It will be better for like minded individuals with integrity to collate their funds together, convert them to USD via inflows and purchase one of the FGN Eurobonds that offer a coupon close to this 9% whist commanding a good yield.

They will be better off in the long run because with the way this economy is going, nobody can run things alone not even Alhaji Cement.

Integrity is the most important thing that could spell success for many in this financial terrain.

To convert to USD via inflows? The open market sells at about 610. Is that the market you are referring to?

A seller telling you you can't call without permission is not a seller. It is some sort of scam. Maybe bait and switch. Or an actual setup where you come to inspect the item and are kidnapped.
