We prefer zero activity to off-topic posts. We don’t need useless posts to keep this place active.

Nigerians can be bad citizens sha. How much infrastructure do we have that we need to guard with humans.

let me rephrase: as a market partcipant who sells shares, it's in my interest that the CSCS requires potential buyers to prefund their accounts before attempting to buy my shares.

that's not a statement that requires me to prove anything, just an explanation on why prefunding is the ideal requirement.

Your Russel people want the CSCS to match me to a buyer who will then start looking for naira to pay me after the sale haba na.

But that has always been the case before the T+1 change. The foreign guys give instruction to their brokers, the broker buys and then the foreign investor moves in money same day which settles next day.

The problem with this T+1 is it doesn't allow them enough time. They also don't want to prefund and take on currency risk etc.

The solution is either for us to return to T+2 or if the CBN/FMDQ can make Naira convertible (this is a long term thing, can't be rushed).

Same man whose major achievement was declaring public holidays. Baba Hafusa who is known for paying half salary to state civil servants.

Also to restate your position the selling pressure effect doesn’t need to match the full $2bn. Even marginal institutional selling in a thin NGX market moves prices sharply remember the NGX is not a deep market

Do you mean the allottees have until friday to pay up? That means they'll sell until Wednesday this week to get their cash before Friday (T+1).

How can I vote in a man who couldn’t explain how he will solve the power problem or even any national issue at all. Peter Obi to me, is not any different from Buhari. I don’t actually believe in minimum wage though. I believe more in average wages.

I believe a minimum wage should be negotiable between an apprentice and the employer who wants to train him or her.

Average wages on the other hand are the real deal. Govt and private sectors can just increase salaries across board.

Wage should be tied to productivity. It is a waste of time wanting Western lifestyle when you don't have Western productivity. Anyone who has worked with Americans can tell how hardworking they are....Same for Chinese. You will see Chinese people standing under 38 degrees sun in Abu Dhabi, Muscat etc....even here in Nigeria.
That is a country that has more than $2 trillion+ in reserves. Yet, the citizens still work extra hard and the government does not give in to subsidizing or ensuring easy lives.

I totally agree with Nosa2 that many Nigerians have a paternalistic view of the government. The government is corrupt, poor and has it's lapses, but people need to take their own lives in their hands and not sit back for things to happen to them.

Nigeria does not need subsidy. Don't advocate for distorted markets. If subsidy is brought in again, smuggling will restart en-masse to Benin, Cameroon & Niger. Consumption will shoot up.
Let market handle things normally. If the price is really unaffordable, demand by some people for the goods will be destroyed.

The past few years of this govt has been phenomenal for the market, and it's not luck. It's specifically because of the policies they made which gave confidence to investors (FX liberalization most importantly).
Also, don't deceive yourself that you won last election. That's what y'all say to deceive yourselves. Anyone can claim anything even if the data says otherwise. I don't want this thread derailed again let's stick to truths, not conjectures.

To think I sold off all my units when it reached 145, I was even happy I made a killing at over 150% returns.
The biggest losers here though is the Holcim, they sold this company at a cheap valuation just before it's acceleration.

It doesn’t raise any questions. Sell off Ajaokuta, simple. It’s not built to really work competitively.

Tinubu is the best president in the history of Nigeria. Security needs more work though.
