Alghafar Ventures.IDIPRFarm village,Ijebu Ode Ogun state .abdulgafarlukman@gmail.com.08055269033. 14000 cucumber/planting and 1000 balls of watermellons.
So far, five bags consumed by the noilers. I switched to Rico Gado because it is the only medicated feed in Nigeria. I had to buy 3/4 bag Broiler superstarter because Rico Gado Broiler finisher was not available in Lokoja today. I may have to dilute it with 2kg of millet or maize tomorrow since the products crude protein is well over what the noilers need.
Good day great farmer,my Noilers are just 19 days old.pls help me find out if Rico Gado has any distributor in Ogun state, precisely,Ijebu Ode.thnks

deedii: where can i purchase the oil. i stay in lagos. thanks
where can I get the Neem oil?How often will it be used on Ugwu as insecticide? What is the Ratio per 16litres Napsack?thank Lukman from Ijebu Ode.Great Farmers Great Nation
EMMAACHILE: I will be administering gumboro third week of the noilers life. It was supposed to be given today but I deliberately delayed it since its recommended after three weeks
Gunboro should be given at 10 and 18 days for 1st and 2nd doses.
Ejulafarm: If you have Irrigation nothing should stop you from doing 3 cycles of Ugu farming.
In times of income, dry season will give you more but also factor that you will be dealing with a lot of pest and grazing issue (fulani).
Wet season is also productive but make sure you have a market for your produce.
Ejula Farm
Great farmer, how can we produce 3 cycle of Ugwu farm during this dry season? What is the calendera.I am willing to plant my Ugwu next week with full irrigation system, raingun sprickler.
stagger: This is a good thread. But the big question for which we need a genuine answer is this:
How does someone invest into a really commercial-scale ugu farm (about 10 hectares or more) without going bankrupt trying to fence such land against these herdsmen, seeing we have a government that is unconcerned about checking this menace? We are now in the dry season and these people will definitely be more desperate to look for what their cows will eat.
If they can graze at will without being confronted right inside our national stadium in Abuja, then they can get into any ugu farm that is not fenced.
Someone please tell me this is not a genuine concern.
Honestly the issue of Fulani and their cows is a national problem,I used bamboo to fence my little garden.
youngzoologist: @ejula...well done brother....I'm yet to have your whatsapp contact... I'm using an hectare of land for ugu farming in Lagos as a group project which is also in phase...the entire land area is 3.5hect...but this is our first time and we decided to phase it to see the result....we can guarantee regular supply should we get this right...
God grace, you shall get it right.I am using Blackberry and watshap has been blocked on it,I will send the number immediatly I get an Android phone.
I have done some research to an extent as regard the potential involved in exporting Ugu leaves.
From my findings, the EU and the states, have other uses for our Ugu leaves. And on the top of the list is the production of blood tonic. You should understand that this discovery is just recently being harnessed by EU and the states as it pertains to sourcing Ugu from Nigeria.
So what better time to climb on board.
The good news is that not much is required from my reliable findings.
One can take it too far when one considers getting the following but it is beneficial at the long run
-NEPC Export licence
- NAQS Certification.
Both are easy to acquire especially NEPC.
But one can skip all this by employing the service of a reliable courier to bridge the gap.
You may ask why I have not venture into it...
The answer lies in the fact that all things are ready except farming on a commercial scale. Which company wants to concern it self with just 2 plots of Ugu vegetables.
Question like, can I deliver a particular ton at a particular time comes to mind.
From my research, the tasking thing to be done is
Commercialize Ugu farming.
And that's why this thread was created. I really want it to help someone out there in all honesty that's why I am not holding back.
I would have love to give more info on export but it makes no sense if I have not tested the waters first so has to explain based on experience and not theory.
But soon, you all will be privileged to the information.

Ejula Farm
We can mobilise Ugwu farmers to produce more for the purpose of export. This agric section has been of help to us,many groups of farmers have been formed. We will get there,God grace
Ejulafarm: There're varying reason for creating ridges.
But the main reason I created one on the water logged area of my farm is to prevent excess water and also it acts as a caution effect should in case an unexpected rain falls at the start of the dry season (This scenario do play out at times).
Other reasons are
- Easy weeding - Protects the root. @Ejula farm. Thanks for your response.I am very grateful.
Good daySir,how is work?Sir I am a keen follower of this trend.I want to ask these questions,I have a waterlog swamp area that intend to use for ugwu production,do I need to make ridges for Ugwu to do well? How often do I water the area if I need to water atall since it is waterlog?I promised to update you on my progress.
There is a breed called noilers. It matures in 10-16 weeks maximum and can reach weight of over 4kg. its best suited for free range.[/quote Hello sir,how can I get Noilers? I am based in Ijebu Ode.thnks
Youthkingdom: I'm not a fans of political animals, but I like following their news, because you can't just help but read about them,Tinubu life teaches didactic in one facet,no matter how bad the story you must have read or heard about him was,Tinubu has helped a lot of Nigerians! And this is paying for Him presently and that will not but continue.
Yes, the opportunity of Ugu farming is huge and it is a bankable investment.
- The export opportunity abound. Buyers look out for sellers
- The commercialization of this business is really at its incipient stage. So this translate to less competition
- Local market is readily available: Igbos, yorubas, ibibios, efik, itsekiri, just to name a few eat it almost on a regular basis
A lot of opportunities out there. It is left for you to put that little effort to get it. Use the hoe and cutlass first and plan adequately, trust me, you will get your dream farm in no time.
I am glad i am showing my starting point to the world at this time, so that in the near future, no one will see it has a magical feat.

Good morning from
EJULA Farm God almighty will bless your work.I have never planted Ugwu for commercial purpose, you inspired me to do so .I have gotten 12 pods that - hope to get 500 seeds to plant.Land preparation will start soon.God grace I will update you my progressmthnks
Ugole2013: The biggest size is #1500 a bunch The medium size is #1400 a bunch The smallest is #1200 a bunch. If you want to buy already processed seeds, it's #35000 a pale of paint (that is 20litres).
How long can the proxessed seeds could be kept?Like how many seeds can one get in a 20litres paint burket? Can you sell 4litres paint burket? How much?thnks
hybridveggies: - Are you a youth in need of sustainable agri-business? - Do you have access to land within Ibadan and its environs? - Would you be interested in synchronized activities to seize opportunities?
The project is titled: FROM PRODUCTION:2:MARKET. This isn't a free all-encompassing training. It has a limited slot with total participants of max 10 per team.
Drop your email below if you are interested.
We have success story to tell as evidence in the pictures attached as always.
Picture is attached. Thanks for your enlightments on this aspect of farming.Sir,I want to ask the following questions. How long can I keep the seeds after draying? Can I use liquid insectiside and powder fungicide to preserve the seed? How can one identify healthy Ugwu pod that may have good seeds?thanks
Ejulafarm: @youngzoologist, It's good to see your group is delving into this lucrative and ofcourse demanding farming project.
Seed Treatment
Much debate on this subject matter. In the general role of thumb, a proportionate mixture of fungicide and insecticide is good for ugu seed treatment.
I prefer to rather break the dormancy of the seed, this will help reduce the time it will take for it to be in the soil prior to germination. This invariable helps to promote the seed germination before insect attack. And you should also note that the probability of a seed to be attacked by fungi is greatly reduced if the seed is properly dried.
Ofcourse, treatment of seed by chemicals is a way to go if you know the ins and outs. I just prefer the natural way (sunning) since it has worked for me in the past.
@stagger, I will be having about 3 different location where I will be running this project. 2 of these locations is close to the water body and partly it is a wet land. But the total of this land close to the water is roughly 2 to 3 plots. And note that there is a well already dunged up. It will be mechanical watering.
For the other 6-8 plots not close to the water, a borehole will be dunged soon. But I will not be incorporating drip or sprinkler but rather I will use water hose that will flow water due to gravity. I will be using a high overhead tank.
All this will be showed while the thread progress.
@All, below is Phase A of the water land that is planted fully. I adopted the idea of phasing the project to easily manageable segments.
The pic below is just roughly 120 square meter but it contains 575 seeds. Recall, I am adopting manageable spacing method as against the idea method.
So as the thread progress, I will be able to tell the house what revenue each phase was able to accrue.
Ready to go the farm. See you all soon by God's grace
Ejulafarm: I am replying the thread this morning because I took the morning hours off but will resume on the farm when the sun is down. So Lets get started
Seed Spacing:
This is a big factor when it comes to yield. The textbook and ideal recommendation is 1m * 0.5m Spacing. Ideally, this spacing is recommended so as to help plant root get the required nutrients without much fight.
Demerit of this spacing method: - Much land is required - Weed control is more pronounced compared to small spacing - More laborous
Merit - Better yield when compared to tight spacing
So Let me talk about the other spacing which is usually adopted by most farmers I have come across. Let's call this "Management Spacing".
The Management spacing is roughly 1.5ft by 1ft. I am adopting this for my planting. As you already know, we have demerit and merit for this.
Merit - Easy and better management of Land - Easy control of weed compared to the "ideal" spacing - Less labour
Demerit - High competition for soil nutrients between plant roots
This demerit can be effectively managed by making sure there's no lack of nutrients in the soil by the effective application of organic or inorganic fertilizer.
I prefer organic because of longer shelf live for ugu leaves. More on this later.
Food for thought:
4000 seeds is needed to fully cover an acre of Land using the ideal spacing method
But it is good to note that 4000 seeds can be effectively managed in just two plots by employing the management spacing technique. And the same yield will be achieved if you reduce the competition for soil nutrients by plant roots.
I hope this help. Any addition will be made as we progress.
Mind blown Segment
An acre of Ugu farm can yield over 600,000 Naira with setup cost of #250,000 in a space of 3 months in the raining season. What do you think will be the yield in the DRY season?
Good job welldone, this an encouragement for me as I am about to acquire a piece of land in Ososa Ijebu for the purpose.
iniobong888: Finally the Ginger season for the year 2016/2017 is open. The farmers, the buyer, the sellers, the middle men, the hustlers, the Indians, the foreigners all them, even you (reading) have an eye on how the market will swing. The last season 2015/2016 was a very interesting season as Ginger worth $33.1million was exported from Nigeria in all three forms. Ginger could exported fresh, dried split or powdered. This three form command different prices both locally and internationally. The powdered ginger commands the highest price followed by dried split and fresh. However, they greatest demand for Ginger is dried split ginger, but it all depends on what the buyer needs. So the market for this season opens up at N520,000 to N550,000 per ton depending on the grade. The international price for Ginger at the moment hover around $2,250 to $2500 a ton depending on the port of delivery and the terms of trade. We must also understand that there is high volatility when it comes to Ginger price. So how do you position to make profit from this season that has just opened? 1. Earn in dollars: Exploit the exchange rate; the international price for ginger is from $2,250 to $2,500 a ton, meaning that you are making over 100% gross profit on each ton. As the season opens an entrepreneur can take advantage of the low price to export. 2. Storage: Ginger price would always shoot high. So you can buy at a lower price, store and sell high when prices appericate. 3. Get into the value chain: Buy the fresh ginger, process and sell. 4. Prepare for planting now against next planting season: The best time to get ginger rhizomes for planting next year is now because it is cheap, by next planting season prices would have double if not triple ( planting of Ginger is not restricted to the north only, we have planted in the west and south) I want to do a webinar and we would look at the following topic 1. How to make money from the Ginger season even when have not invested much (or nothing) 2. Understanding how the details in the ginger value chain and how to profit from it . So if you are interested please drop you email and we would communicate the date to you. Thank you for your time. [img][/img]
