you once said jorad if left to get big, 65 of it can fill a bag. One thing I observed with mine is that leaving the fruit to get big somehow stressed the plant

I applied the same laraforce gold in the evening and it affected the bees. I probably did not get the concentration right tor. Anyone here have an Idea of the right concentration?

I bought a 3inch pump but yet to use it. Thinking of going for this pump and hose. What kind of hose do you advise I buy. A little picture of your set up won't be bad either

5k per bag.
I planted greengo.
I wet with hose.
spacing between both plant is 1feet.
I use only manure

purely manure no foliar fertilizer?

Cucumber price today is 3k, finally glut is here. If you take any specie apart from greengo to my market nobody will look at it, and luckily you can see it sell at 1k or less. Funny thing...no Greengo seed at the moment!

how long do you think this glut will last. Thinking by early August the price should pick up again

no sir,efia is just ordinary hausa pepper with no certificate,that why it is cheap,any pepper variety with high pedigree,aroma,spice and flavour will not be cheap,red piquante is #4500 for 5 grams of 900 seeds,avenir is #4200 for 5 grams,red scorpion is #3500 for 5 grams,super habanero and co,there is a reason for something to be cheap,I remembered when I got 100 grams of pointsett cucumbers at #2k and shunned cu999 selling at #7k for 50 grams,but in 45-50 days I realized why pointsett is cheap.

I have received feedbacks from many farmers around Nigeria and from these information I found out that planting cucumbers at 30cm spacing does not improve yield,I got very interesting feedbacks from 3 farmers that used 60cm spacing,one farmer is in Edo ,the other kwara and osun state,they managed to harvest 65-70 bags of cucumbers from 50 grams of seed I sent to them each,now this is were it gets interesting,we planted same 50grams but used 30cm spacing on the drip but just managed to get 30-40 bags,we are planning to prove beyond any doubt the effects of spacing on cucumber yield,we are preparing a site to receive 50 grams of seed at 60cm spacing,we will plant on Monday next week, production Target is 60 bags,we will update as usual with pictures,etc

I am also about to plant...when I read your post yesterday, I decided to increase my spacing to 60cm. Please sir what is the best use rate for ridomil gold

best way to keep weed off is weeding manually like 2-4 times in Cucumber and tomato farm, but if it is cassava or maize you will be using something like guard force,2-4d and StarForce.

How is 30cm the standard for cucumber? I am confused here. And how is 40cm automatically the standard for tomatoes when most farmers have realised 50cm and above is the game after heavy awareness that overpopulation is what is killing naive farmers. I see East West promoting 50cm heavily these days and one single row instead of 30cm and double rows for their determinate varieties. And people are getting it right. What if the varieties are the more robust than the ones East West has presently? That was my sermon many years back when the ex champs here used to put three or four rows on a bed because they were new into the mulching game, and they were managing cash. Lol.

I'm not saying 30cm cannot be used for cukes, but you can never see me use 30cm on my personal farm. Never and Never. I promote 50cm+ for tomatoes cos of the variety I use.

I think importers' default is 30cm, and thank God I was able to break the ritual of that 0.2mm very thin drip. Even, I know many are recycled materials and they dont even make it up to 0.2mm. Many are 0.1mm or 0.15mm, but trust chinese manufacturers and their Nigerian partners in crime who put 0.2mm on them.

Anyway, if it works for you, nice. But maybe you try 40cm or 50cm with cucumber, take your time and prune very well, fertigate properly and perhaps you will testify to higher yield than 30cm. You may give it a trial.

hmm...I will have to try this 40 or 50cm too for my cukes

Hello Mr. okoroemeka, it's been an interesting time on this thread and farming cucumber too. My first trial was quite interesting, and I think I presently have a new job now. I decided to seek more training in addition to the info that you have piled up here and that led me to attend Kuch99 trainings on cucumber and tomatoes. I am armed with more information and I want to do another trial which I strongly believe will be better than the first one. so I will be doing almost 200 sacks planted with 2 seeds each.

The only challenge I have right now is that I want to add drip irrigation to my setup seeing that watering with hand for the 50 bags I did last is not a small task. I'm presently looking for where to buy small quantity of drip tapes like 100m. all those I have asked do not sell such small quantities. The least I have seeing is 500m and the emitter spacing is 0.3m when I need 0.5m. I don't know if you have any lead to buy such small quantity. Otherwise, I'm presently on the verge of ordering from china. I have seeing suppliers who will sell small quantities even as small as 100metres. I will update you as I progress because I want to achieve at least 10fruits per plant, I will be needing all the mentorship I can get.

The 50cm spacing gives much better yield or what is ur reason for wanting to get a drip of 50cm

This is the status of my cucumber farm after two heavy rain. Two more harvest to go....the last time I went to market it was 6000 (Monday) I harvest 8 bags yesterday evening which I will be taking to market this morning.

nah tigmax I dey use. I have two, if one has issue I will use the second till I repair it (6hp 3inch outlet)

that means it not so safe to have just one should in case one becomes faulty

hmm...that means lots of nutrient is available to the plant. From what have seen too, getting d fertilization right is highly important to maximize it's multiple fruiting tendency
