7 months after biometrics.

ROLLIN:
Congratulations. Please how long did you wait until your Work Authorization got approved?
Travel / Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by olamitunposi: 5:44pm On Dec 23, 2022
Update!!!

Work Authorization approved and got my card June 28 2022, got a Job offer in September at one of the top pharmaceuticals company in the US.

Adjustment of Status for Permanent Residency approved with no interview December 21 2022. (We filed everything ourselves from K1- i485 without getting a lawyer)

Bottom line, come prepared to the state, know that it won’t be easy and everything will take time before eventually falling in place for you, surround yourself with people that are informed and make your own research.

Lastly, do your best and leave the rest for God to handle.

Thanks to everyone that has been a part of this wonderful thread, I wish everyone a good Christmas and a happy new year in advance. Cheers.

Update!!!

Filed for my AOS on September 29th and got NOA1 for October 4th, biometrics appointment letter was sent on October 9th, did my biometrics on November 1st.

Now the wait continues.

I wish everyone on the waitlist both at NVC or AOS all the best.

I have written both LagosNIV & LagosIV for May passport status update but yet no response pls you can help me with their email both maybe write them first thing tomorrow morning also …. I have don le my interview status still showing ready on ceac.state.gov instead of issued has every other one while cgi profile will show available for pick up

I understand you’re worried but the best thing to do is to wait till they update your status.

Please note, after interview approval, your case still need to go through administrative processing where they do some checks before finally approving your Visa .

In my case, I got my passport back after 2-3weeks of interview and I’ve read cases of 2/3months.

Just be calm, and have your petitioner call and write them, you will definitely get your stamped passport back.

House please I needed advice on what needed to be done:
I had my interview on Friday 22nd Of April 2022 , I was given the white paper after been approved and was told to pick up my passport at Dhl office in 10-Bussiness Days, Till now I have check my status online and keep tracking my passport till date it’s showing ready since then. I’ve even been to DHL office @ V.I twice to check if my passport is there But they told me it hasn’t been brought down that I should expect mail from Dhl to pick up my passport. I & my fiancée have also called the Embassy both In Nigeria & Right there in America it’s same response that we should wait till we receive response from the Embassy through mail. It’s over a month now going to 2-months now is this normal ?? Cos I’m begging to get scared and fed up after this long wait before now. Your swift responds will sincerely be appreciated

Ready for pick up or ready for interview?

However, I think you should write LAGOSNIV for updates on your Visa/passport.

Hello house
My fiancée want to petition on my behalf.
The issue is that she's not working currently, but she files for tax return yearly. But her dad and mum are ready to sponsor evrything. They have a company they operate.
So,money isn't an issue for them. They're ready to fill in the space where needed to have me in the US.
I hope there's nothing we aren't doing wrong.

As far as the co-sponsors meet the household income requirement, you’re good to go.

There are two parts to the result. They will send the one needed directly to the embassy and I was told to come pick up the other myself which I I am to take with me to the US to be presented at the POE.

The one you’re told to come pick up is what you’d need for your AOS when you get here.

The one sent to the embassy directly will be included in the packet you’d be giving after picking up your VISA to be presented at the POE.

Quick question.
How long does it take to adjust status( Green card) after getting to the States ?
Thank you.

Depends on your service center/ Field office, You could be lucky to have your green card/EAD within 4-7 months and it could take 24 months.

It’s a long ride!!!

I think I read it somewhere that it will take a month or so. Someone who have experience in this should help with the question

Pre-pandemic, NVC ship to embassy once or twice a month and I believe they still follow this process.
So everything depends on the embassy requesting for cases.

If embassy request for cases and your case is at NVC when they requested, be sure your case will be shipped.

Every couple has their own priorities, and each couple must decide which visa is better for their situation.
K-1
More expensive than CR-1
Requires Adjustment of Status after marriage (expensive and requires a lot of paperwork)
Spouse can not leave the US until she/he receives approved Advance Parole (approx 5-6 months)
Spouse can not work until she/he receives EAD (approx 5-6 months)
Some people have had problems with driver licenses, Social Security cards, leases, bank account during this period
Spouse will not receive Green Card for many months after Adjustment of Status is filed.
A denied K-1 is sent back to USCIS to expire

CR-1
Less expensive than K-1
No Adjustment of Status(I-485, I-131, I-765, I-944) required.
Spouse can immediately travel outside the US
Spouse is authorized to work immediately upon arrival.
Spouse receives Social Security Card and Green Card within 2 or 3 weeks after entering the US
Opening a bank account, getting a driver's license, etc. are very easily accomplished with GC, SS card, and passport.
Spouse has legal permanent Resident status IMMEDIATELY upon entry to US.

Well said. However, you can get Your SSN with a K1 VISA while still waiting for your AOS to be adjudicated, but must do so before your K1 visa expires, and having your SSN let you process everything else except working and traveling outside the States.

PS: Some states let you apply for Drivers Licence without SSN though.

Good day everyone, please I need your advice. I have USA immigrant visa. Is it possible to go to another state in the US that is different from the address and state I used in my application and during my visa interview without negative effect at the port of entry in the US?
I intend to move from Nigeria to the US.

YES your port of entry matters.

Just to be clear, if the destination you filled on your DS160 is Texas, be sure your POE is in Texas or an airport that’s not more than an hour drive to the state you filled in your application. Only if it’s not your first time using that said VISA to gain entry into the US…. but if it’s the first time, please use the POE in your DS160.

Do not let anybody deceive you, you can be deported for this, I know someone who was.

Pardon my curiosity, why would you fly to a different state from your POE?

I was told 6 to 7 months when I started too. We submitted our application December 2020 and our case is still sitting pretty at NVC. Just put your mind off it and decide when it comes it comes ni o

It’s due to the pandemic, pre-pandemic it used to be 4-6months. let me briefly share my timeline

I filed December 2019, Case approved and sent to NVC in April 2020.

NVC didn’t send to Lagos until May 2021.

I know the waiting is crazy and depressing, but it would be best if you fix your mind at something else, and try to check your case once, every 2 weeks rather than everyday.

While you’re waiting, take your time to learn about the city/state you’re going to.

If you don’t know how to drive, please learn before leaving Nigeria as it would help you a lot prior to getting the Country’s driver’s license.

Furthermore, take your Nigeria International drivers license with you when coming.

To make your timeline fast, your petitioner can start making enquiries on availability of dates for wedding at the city clerk office, because it’s another long wait for AOS filing o, and you don’t want to be wasting time.

P.S; be sure of the time you’re going to be in the States before picking the date for wedding because your Visa permits you to be married within 90days of entering the states, and getting wedding date is an hassle. Otherwise, you must return to your home country.

Above all; stay safe and look after your health

Letter arrives ..! All her transcripts are ready and it is said that she is sending it physical mail

All You need is an updated documents of what you submitted to USCIS at filing stage which includes proves of ongoing relationship (recent chats, phone records either regular or FaceTime prior to interview, recent Visit if any)

Marriage Letter of intent both from you and your petitioner, dated and signed.

Either Tax transcripts or W2 for 2019 and 2020 is fine.

Hi guys, I thought it would be nice to share my timeline here with y’all, as I’ve been a silent follower of this thread.

We filed December 2019, case was approved and sent to NVC April 2020, but Pandemic delayed us till May 2021 before it reached Lagos embassy.

Here’s my interview transcript and point of entry experience.

I interviewed August 18th 2021.

I got there around past 6am and waited till after 6:30 before they could pass us in.

After getting in, I was called and they asked for my attestation of birth, affidavit of support and tax transcripts, along with all the interview documents( DS160 and the likes). Afterwards she asked me to sit and will be called. Here; the lady asked for my petitioner’s number and asked for my marriage certificate, knowingly on their record that I’ve never been married.

Interview;

It was a white lady in window 14, she asked me to take an oath and took my finger prints.

Then she asked;

Who petitioned for you?

So tell me how you guys met?

When did you both start talking?

When did you decide on starting a relationship?

When was your first meeting?

Where does your fiancé live?

What does she do?

What’s her job description?

Where is her place of work?

What does her work name means?

Does your fiancé live alone?

Has she ever been married?

Does she have kids?

Have you ever been married?

Have you ever been out of Nigeria?

What country did you visit?

How long did you stayed for?

What were you doing then?

Have you ever been arrested or committed any crime?

What’s your wedding plan?

Where do you plan to live when you get there?

What’s the time difference now?

…….. Your documents looks okay, I will be approving your Visa… Kindly note, you can’t marry in Nigeria while on this Visa and have to marry within 90days of your arrival in the US.

Congratulations and all the best.

By the way, it took 12days for my Visa to be issued.

POE: On getting to the Immigration at the US point of entry, a lady took my packet and passport, after opening the packet, I saw my medical and her tax transcript with our filling documents, then asked where my fiancé is, I told her she’s on her way to pick me up, then she stamped my passport and wrote 1 of 1 entry on the Visa.

After that, she then took me to the waiting room for processing, where I was processed and the immigration officer asked for the address I would be staying, at that point my head went blanked, I told him the city and state…. But he needed a proper address, thank God I had it saved on my fiancé’s contact in my phone, so I pulled out my phone and showed him…… Then he typed it on the system and returned my passport saying; welcome to the United State Of America, please do enjoy your stay.

Then I left there, only to see my luggages waiting for me to claim them.

Overall, I didn’t spend 20min with immigration and baggage claim.

PS: @treasureprince, this is Funmi’s fiancé (Anthony, Gina)✌✌✌

Update!!!

Filed for my AOS on September 29th and got NOA1 for October 4th, biometrics appointment letter was sent on October 9th, did my biometrics on November 1st.

Now the wait continues.

I wish everyone on the waitlist both at NVC or AOS all the best.

If there’s need for your fiancee to use a co-sponsor, then he or she needs to fill the form as well, but if none, you only need your petitioner’s to.

Thanks so much for the information @Olamituposi. Something is confusing me
Here I need to shed more light into.
We Paid an Agency which is RapidVisa.com who has been guiding us all this year ... So when I got the approval notice on my case tracker app I mailed then for the next stage on what. Be preparing for . The wrote back and on their platform their is a link to register directly affidavit of support she can fill and submit to them which I will send a screenshot on here. But what I noticed is that the information in the link you send ain’t the same with what was on their own page and theirs can be edited as a kind of filling and save or Edit and send process... but with the link you shared it can only be printed out and use pen to fill in the appropriate information and scan back to me. pls which should I go for ?? Go with the company we paid over $500 to from scratch ? I hope you understand what I mean ??... Picture 1 is a screenshot from the link you sent ... While picture 2 is on the Company platform to apply and register for affidavit of support .. Thanks so much as I will be patiently waiting for your swift response.

At this stage(interview) Your agent doesn’t have anything to do with your affidavit as you the beneficiary would need to have it at hand for your interview.

So, you can have your fiancée fill the form from the USCIS and send to you or if the agency is going to forward you a copy of the one she’s going to fill on their website, as far as you have a physical filled and signed copy with you for interview, you’re good to go.

Something other clear to me oo ! The place that’s not clear to me is that place they said while waiting for the NVC letter & NVC Case Number one can start working on affidavit of support (Form I-134)..... Where will that be gotten from and how can it be gotten and what does it entails Abeg ?

Your Petitioner is the one to fill the form and have it scanned to you, which you then print out, or get it couriered to you.

It’s just a form of oath saying they’d take care of your expenses which includes; feeding, shelter and the likes while awaiting your adjustment of status/ work authorization to be issued.

The petitioner’s has to declare his/her earnings, properties (if any), and all sorts….. everything is on the form. (It’s part of the forms you’ve to submit during filing stage) you also need another one filled for your interview which you present at the embassy.

Then you take it with you to the Interview at the Local embassy along with the petitioners most recent tax transcripts or W2, whichever you have.

You can find the form on USCIS website: https://www.uscis.gov/i-134

Also, make sure to have your marriage intent letter for you and your petitioner with you, addressed to the interviewing embassy. ( They might not ask you, but it’s best to have it, just in case).

All the best, cheers.

Please guys, my first time to post here. My man planned on visiting me here in Nigeria, and he's talking about engagement. We have been together for 5months.. I love him so so much cox he's every woman's dream. Does age gap really matter wen it comes to love and visa approval? He's 48 and I'm 26, 22yrs gap.. He hasn't been married before but he has 2 adult children but I'm still older than them. Thanks as you reply

Technically, age shouldn’t be a barrier to love, but with this kind of processing, you need to prove the relationship is genuine to the VO at the embassy, that’s if your case get to that stage.

Also, him having kids isn’t a problem at all, just make sure to submit all the required USCIS documents and Proof of relationship (for filing).

Most importantly; Make sure to not do any engagement party of whatsoever, all you need is to show he proposed to you and take pictures.

Again, please do not do any engagement or engagement party, if you’re filing for K-1….. USCIS might approve your petition but I’m sure the visa would be denied outrightly at the Visa Post.

Thanks for your response I really appreciate.

I try to save at least 70-80k/month and sometimes higher since I realized I’d be applying for a UK Visa this year and it all depends on what expenses I have for the month and I current have about 500k as closing balance, hopefully by April I’d have 900k with leave bonus and other gift funds from relatives. Also, I’m the last born of my parents.

I do not have other sources of income but I’ve a property I can claim to myself as gift from dad. I also have my other siblings here in Nigeria.

I plan on using my work, Masters program, property as ties to prove I’d be coming back to Nigeria.

My last Visa was on a family visit to my maternal uncle and my mom was my sponsor as I was in my finals in school and wasn’t working.

Good morning house, Please I need explanation on what documents I’ll be needing for my UK visitors visa as my brother will be inviting me, he’s a citizen and has his UK passport.

I’ve a refusal history from 3 different countries ( all for Student Visa), can I state them in my application?

I currently work and earn 145k monthly and I plan to apply with maybe 700-800k closing balance. And I’m budgeting 400k-450k (Airfare and shopping) for the trip of 2 weeks. I’ll be staying at my brother’s for my visit.

I’m single and will be 29 in 3 months and I plan to submit my application by then.

I don’t plan to overstay my Visa if granted as I have other plans in place. Also, I’m currently enrolled for my masters here in Nigeria and in second semester.

Furthermore, can I apply for 2 years or 6 months as I’ve previously been to the UK but that was 2013.

I’d appreciate if anyone can explain in details or perhaps refer me to a previous link.
