Without undue sentiment, I think during the Governorship debates last week, the Labour Party candidate was the best presenter, and appeared to know what governance means. The SDP and Accord candidates are next. In my opinion, the APC candidate was the worst presenter, and seems not to have tangible things to show what he did with the four years given to him by the court. He only hopes on incumbency, and maybe external influence to go back to the government house.
I am sure you are a PDP card carrying member or apologetic. If none is the case, I am sure you didnt watch the live debate. Then if you did watch the debate, you might have watched the edited version or chose to ignore the PDP candidate presentation. He was a complete flop. No content and a clear pattern of expression. I wonder what he has been doing with his life since child birth.

Good question, the Indians along with some Middle East and South Asians are all in this criminal boats but the Minister who is of Indian heritage signs with 9ja.
Let’s wait if he will sign same with other nations (or maybe they have such treaties already) too and especially India, his motherland.
The Indian immigrants see other immigrants from other countries as competitors, most especially Nigerians
Recruit 1 Indian into a company and come back 6 months after to see them take over almost every aspect of the company.

The truth is, the UK economy isn’t doing fine and these immigration routes are ingenious ways of keeping the economy going - use n dump mentality.
They collect your school fee, IHS, and all collectibles then after your studies if you not smart or lucky enough to stay legally, they push you out
That’s why you have to plan adequately with different options so you don’t get stranded
Could you please state other options. In fact, itnhas been preventing me from making my initial deposit.

KillBill2:
The reality is, not everyone embarking on the student route will get the opportunity to stay and live in the UK permanently. This might be harsh but it’s the truth.

I came to the UK just before the old post-study was scrapped. During my 2 week orientation, we were told to study hard and get good results as that would help us secure a job. A lot of international students in my university took this advise seriously and despite some graduating with distinction and merit, only a handful were lucky. Those who couldn’t secure a job had no choice but to pack up and return. It was really heartbreaking to see some of the brightest people I’ve ever met forced to leave. Sadly, life as an illegal immigrant is horrible and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Some other routes to settlement you could consider should you choose:
Spousal Visa - You can apply via marriage (real love) if your spouse meets the financial threshold. It was easier before Brexit as being married to an EU National automatically gave you the right to reside. Sadly that ship sailed a long time ago. You can now only rely on marriage to a British citizen or someone with permanent residency ( ILR, EU settled or Pre-settled status).

Global Talent Visa - If you’re a tech bookworm and believe you can make a change in the digital world then this is for you. For more information, check gov.uk

Continuous study- You can explore the PHD option if you’ve got a lot of cash reserve, knack for research and 3 more years for academia. Personally, I didn’t opt for PHD because I knew I wouldn’t be able to cope with more studying. The MSc was more than sufficient .
My cousin studied for almost 10 years just so he can qualify for long residency. Was it worth it, he alone knows.

For survival, I know some Nigerians are resilient and I’m hoping you are too.

- Come with the funds you showed Home office
- Choose an affordable city for your studies
- Seek academic help early if you’re struggling.
- Research organisations that can sponsor you early and put in as many applications as possible before your graduation
- Make use of charity shops if money is tight. You’ll be amazed at the quality you’ll find in some shops.
- Register for your National Insurance number as soon as you arrive.
- Get a UK bank account asap
- Register with Electoral Roll ( Nigerian INEC) and GP practice
- Start your job application asap
- Make good friends
- Brush up on your interview skills ( YouTube is a great place to start).

With regards to work, It’s important you have your living expenses when you arrive as it could take months to get a job. This way you can treat any income from the 20hr work as a reserve. I would encourage you to get a part time job that will guarantee the minimum 20 hrs/ week with holiday pay. This will ensure you have a steady income every month.
I’m not a fan of agency work ( aka zero hour contract) although I can see the appeal for students. Should you choose this option, be aware that you could go some days/ weeks without work if the agency does not have a shift for you.

To your other question, I don’t regret coming here to study because this country has given me an opportunity that I would have otherwise not had if I had remained in Nigeria. I was lucky to get a job I enjoy and have progressed in my organisation.

It is important that anyone embarking on this journey lower their expectations because the reality is often different from the picture family and friends paint. You’ll be amazed to know that some people have come here financially unprepared and then turn to the church or council for help when things go wrong.

All I can tell you is don’t let the fear of the unknown put you off. Remember no risk, no reward. You alone can decide if the student route is the right part for you. Good luck.

Wow!!!!! This is resourceful. Thank you for this exhaustive reply. I will have to read it over and over.

I have been searching for a post where people will speak about their post study experiences and route to becoming a permanent residents in the UK but I have found none, knowing fully well that a huge percentage of people here have the mind to lawfully settle in the UK after school.

The fear of the unknown has been keeping me back from furthering my application. In fact, I already received my unconditional offer and my deposit is in my kitty .

For those that are currently or have passed through this stage,

How did you navigate it?

Do you sometimes regret going to the UK for study?

Have you seen those who return to Nigeria after thier 2 years PSW because they couldn't secure a job with sponsorship?

Are there other visa category one can apply for to keep buying time?

Is the investment worth it at all?

Are there other ways of staying back?

Could you please share survival tips?

Thank you in anticipation of your response. I hope it will benefit so many people on this platform.

I am very impressed with the level of comportmemt and maturity Sanotor Magnus Abe put to bare during the entire session. He actually displayed class and intelligent. He articulated his points with civility and completely in charge of the entire process. At inception, the young blood was aggressive and frivolous. He failed to marshal addresses the issues intelligent and i am very sure that his patronage will be very disappointed.

The osinbajo camp needs to work hard if they will even make a statement in this process because my gut feelings still tells me that Osinbajo's is a diversionary strategy from the camp of BAT.

He is too intelligent to fail one of the laws of power which says "Never otshine your master".

Fear of death during delivery was the cause of death of one of my cousins.
She had a healthy pregnancy, no complications whatsoever, until the day of labour.
She kept crying all through, and her mother that was supposed to encourage her kept crying with her.

We patiently waited for the “good news” for what seemed like forever, until evening when they called us...
We were already jubilating, thinking she had finally given birth, only to be told she died with the pregnancy. sad

yes 300k is your disposable income.
About the statement some ppl have said they have used a 4 month bank statement but if this is your first ever uk visa application, I wouldn't advise you on such.
About your disposable income leaving your account, you are not a robot so definitely lump sums of 150k at once can not be goin out as if it is a routine. The question is asked to give the officer treating your account an idea of your living situation as evidenced by what is on your bank statement.
You do not need to do any estimate. The visa form does not ask how much you are spending on anything, it only asks how much is your budget for the trip.
Yes also you can make the work less cumbersome for the officer by using your salary acct strictly for what it is.
Thank you for your reply. Very apt abs informative. I owe this thread a gratitude when I get my visa.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by olaoye15(m): 8:39am On Aug 25, 2021
Good Morning Good People Here. i still can't wrap my mind around the concept of Disposable income and how to aggregate it for my application.

For instance, if my monthly salary is 450,000 and my monthly expenses is 150,000, does that mean my disposable income is 300,000?

Then I have read In the thread that while applying, that it is safe to make my travel budget not more than twice my disposable income. So can I say that, If I intend to travel for instance 15days, I should try as much as possible to peg my travel expenses in the region f 600,000?

Again, is it mandatory i submit a salary account of 6 month transaction history? Can a 4months Salary account be presented.

More still, assuming I am submitting my six months salary account, must I make it reflect that I am removing my monthly 150k expenses and leaving a disposable income of 300k for six months?

Do you advise a make the account strictly salary and nothing more? That is, i should nor use it for nothing more that Salary account in order to make it's less cumbersome for the VO?

Then, how to I estimate my tourism travel budget to revolve around 600k?

I will be looking forward to hearing from the respectable elders in the house. Thank you.
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by olaoye15(m): 11:34pm On Aug 24, 2021
[quote author=giselle237 post=104915118]You need to try to keep your budget within twice or 2.5 of your disposable income.
So remove your expenses from your income and then know what ur disposable income is.
Also make sure you state and write expressly your itinerary on your form. Each day write what you will be doing there.
Also you need to have a purpose of trip. It is not enough to say your uncle is inviting you or you are going to visit your uncle, the question is why.. so answer the why factor.
If this is your uncle try to show proof of relationship, establish this and then also get an invitation letter from him, his brp or british passport, his tenancy agreement and possibly account statement.
In the invitation letter, your uncle must expressly state who you are to him, that you are coming to his house, where you are coming to, for how long you will be there and that he is happy to provide such and such for you during this duration and that after this trip on so and so date you will be leavin the UK..
It helps if your sponsor could attach a bank statement even if for a few months to prove his financial capability to offer this. [/quote

Good though. But i still can't wrap my mind around the concept of Disposable income and how to aggregate it for my application.
