Late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo on Muhammadu Buhari "In one of their campaigns in Kaduna, Chuba took the microphone and said; "The Estabilishement might not allow us to Rule Now, but be that as it may, on a very good day, at the appointed time, Buhari will rule Nigeria. What I do not know, is whether I will be around when that happens. But even if am not there, (Chuba turned to Buhari) please Muhammadu, move on and fear not! The vultures will gather against you, but you know what we stand for. Be strong and continue for you shall overcome!" Chuba again turned to Buhari, "It Will Not Be Long!" Then he finally said; "if you must Trust, always verify!" And Chuba then dropped the microphone and moved down from the podium to the crowd. But before going down, he removed his red cap and bowed before Buhari. The rest is now history. Chuba died mysteriously. Today Buhari is President. So for all the vultures gathering today, we heard about them years back, and we shall overcome! May the Almighty Allah Make Buhari succeed!

The echoes of the 2015 presidential election won by President Muhammadu Buhari reverberated on Tuesday as former President Goodluck Jonathan presented his book , ‘ My Transition Hours , ’ to the public in Abuja. Dignitaries that included Buhari , former Heads of State in Nigeria and West Africa , former ministers and traditional rulers took turns to shower encomiums on the former President for conceding defeat in the election . Buhari was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation , Boss Mustapha . Jonathan himself admitted that some unnamed individuals both in Nigeria and outside the country expressed surprise at his decision. He said the people concerned kept asking him why he would allow the result of the election to stand without contesting it in court. But his guests took turns to commend him for the decision which they said led to the peace the nation currently enjoys . Jonathan said the twin issue of Boko Haram insurgency and the abduction of Chibok girls were used against him during elections . Jonathan said , “ Whenever I travelled out , people asked me, ‘ why did you concede defeat , why did you make that phone call . Why didn ’ t you go to court?’ “ The book reviewer has revealed everything and if you read the book , you will understand . The book centres mainly on the election . I mentioned some negative things , it ’ s like the life of an individual, it can be positive while it can also be negative. “ There were certain issues in government that were used against me during election , like the issue of Boko Haram and the Chibok girls . In fact , some people said I brought Boko Haram to reduce the voting population of the North so that I can win the election . ” He added , “ So , I commented on the Chibok girls , it was one of the points that was really used by politicians . Of course, I don ’ t blame them . Maybe if it was me , I would have done the same thing . “ I also took the issue of corruption so that young Nigerians will understand the issue , where it started if anybody knows . I have made some suggestions to encourage future governments to tackle corruption . “ I also used the opportunity to make a little suggestion about our elections. ” Jonathan raised the alarm over the issue of vote- buying which he said had become scandalous in the country . He suggested a change in the way polling booths are erected as one of the ways of tackling the problem . “ The issue of vote- buying is becoming scandalous in Nigeria. While inducing candidates is wrong and is criminalised in other countries , in Nigeria it is seen as normal and this is wrong. “ My suggestion is that we should begin to look at the way we build polling booths , we should copy other countries that use public buildings like schools for elections. “ So one school will be one polling unit and it will be easier for the police to police that unit and it will be difficult for someone who is in a classroom to show you his ballot paper since you cannot pay somebody until you have access to see his ballot paper . If we have a polling booth that you cannot access the ballot paper, then the issue of outright vote- buying will reduce,” he said . http://community.vanguardngr.com/m/discussion?id=4565467%3ATopic%3A1868324 |

the Association of Commercial sex workers, Kaduna State, have hailed Governor Nasir El-rufai of Kaduna State for lifting the curfew imposed on Kaduna following the crisis that rocked the town and environs. Kaduna and environs recently witnessed security challenges that started in Kasuwan Magani in October this year and spread to other parts to the state capital resulting to loss of lives and property that made the state government imposed 24 hour curfew in the affected areas. The Chairman of the Association, Justina Emmanuel, made the commendation in company of the Treasurer of the Association while briefing newsmen, saying the imposition of the curfew affected their businesses because they usually receive their customers from 8:30 pm to 12 am everyday. “For the period of the curfew, our members across the metropolis suffered financial losses because of low patronage. Busy spots like Rabah Road, Nagogo road Barnawa shopping complex, waff road, Narayi pipeline and Independence way were deserted. “We thank the governor for restoring peace back to the crocodile city and we call on all residents to live in peace and harmony for every business to survive. “We have also resolved to cast our votes for El Rufai for his vision of making Kaduna State a peaceful place for all and sundry,” she emphasised Recall that Kaduna state government lifted the curfew in Kaduna metropolis with immediate effect while others are still under the curfew. The night-time curfew which had subsisted in the city since 31st October, 2018 has now been removed and residents are now free to go about their legitimate businesses at anytime of the day. Samuel Aruwan, spokesman to Governor Nasir El Rufai on Media and publicity had disclosed this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna. http://dailypost.ng/2018/11/17/kaduna-commercial-sex-workers-hail-el-rufai-lifting-curfew/ |

Cross River state Cross River state Traditional rulers in Cross River State cautioned the Igbos resident in the state against creating the position of Eze Ndi Igbo (the king of the Igbos) in the state, as that would amount to “creating a kingdom where they are not empowered by the law to do so.” The traditional rulers were reacting to the plan by the Igbo community in the state to “install/coronate” one E. A. Ezenweanyi as the Eze Ndigbo of Cross River State. The traditional rulers, in a press statement issued on Tuesday, said, “The Igbos have every right to assemble as a community in Cross River State and pursue their legitimate rights under a leader who may be known as President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, President of Igbo Community in Cross River State, but not as Eze Ndi Igbo, a revered traditional title reserved for monarchs in the respective Igbo kingdoms. “The said leader is not to bear the titles of His Majesty (HM), His Royal Majesty (HRM), or His Highness (HH).” The statement, signed by Paramount Ruler of Bakassi and the Chairman, Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council, Etim Edet, and the Paramount Ruler of Calabar Municipality, Patrick Agbor, also warned the Igbo leader in Calabar against awarding chieftaincy title, whether traditional or honorary, to any person within the territories of Cross River State. “Igbos in Cross River State can celebrate their day as may be convenient to them and may invite traditional rulers from within and outside the state to attend if they so wish,” the statement added. The chairman of the traditional rulers’ council, Mr Edet, told PREMIUM TIMES, Wednesday, he and others sought for clearance from the councils of traditional rulers in the South-east before issuing the statement. “The response I got from the traditional rulers in the South-east was that the title of Eze Ndi Igbo was an exclusive one for kings in Igbo land and that we should not allow it in Cross River. “I now asked, ‘how about those who have been using it?’ and they told me ‘Those using it illegally have been asked to stop forthwith,’” he said. “There is this example in Cross River State, of one Elunnor who was a medical doctor here in Cross River state. He has a flourishing clinic here. He was the president of Igbo community here in Cross River State then. When he wanted to be a king he went back to Anambra State and at the last meeting I attended in Benin I saw him. He said he is now a traditional ruler in Anambra and he is there. “So, if Ezenweanyi wants to be a king he cannot be in Cross River State; he should go to his place and become a king. “You should be aware that since 2004 or thereabouts, there have been several attempts to do this (have Eze Ndi Igbo in Cross River), but the state government kicked against it. “You cannot be a king and begin to give chieftaincy titles in a strange territory. Where is your kingdom in Cross River state? Where is your clan? This is not about an association, but about kingship which is a creation of statutes. We need to protect it, hence our reaction. “We have Efik community in America, but there is no way you can have Obong of Calabar in the U.S. “Where do you derive your power from to become a king? It is either by statutes or by nature, so where do you derive yours from?” Mr Edet said the Igbo community in Cross River have accepted not to coronate anybody as their king in Cross River, and for showing such understanding he said he has directed the Cross River State council of traditional rulers to attend their ceremony to cement the relationship and encourage inter-ethnic unity and peace in the state. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/south-south-regional/295609-you-cant-have-igbo-king-in-cross-river-traditional-rulers.html |
