Is it a prime focuse (lnb at center of dish) or off set (lnb placed off the center) dish. Try tracking w3a with it. U should pick it up easily. Regards.

n9jaboy: The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) yesterday began raiding premises and arresting persons involved in the unauthorised distribution of Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) and other cable networks signals and contents in parts of Benin City.

The raid, which took operatives of the Copyright Commission, backed by men of the Nigeria Police and Multichoice anti-piracy team, through New Benin, Okhoro, Medical Store and Sapele roads areas, led to the arrest of seven suspects (two female and five male) while about 20 decoders of different type were impounded.

At Okhoro and Medical Store streets, a two-room apartment was discovered to be filled with Strong brand of decoders and decoders of other cable networks which broadcast signals to about 200 houses around the area without authorization.

It was the same story at Sapele road and Ehwotubu and other parts of the metropolis as the team disconnected and destroyed cables and boosters used for the illegal operation.

Speaking to newsmen who accompanied the team, the leader of the NCC team, led by its Director of Enforcement, Augustine Amodu, warned those engaged in the illegal act to desist as the commission was ready to arrest and prosecute not only those behind it, but those who broadcast the signals to others after collecting fees ranging from N500 to N3, 000.

He said commission, backed by Section 38 of the Copyright Act, will continue to raid and arrest those involved, adding that they had successfully prosecuted a notorious pirate who was recently sentenced to two and half years in jail.

Multichoice Senior Anti-piracy Manager, Frikkie Jonker, urged Nigerians to connect to the cable stations through the right way, saying that any sales and distribution of devices used illegally to pirate and access DSTV channels were all punishable under the copyright law. He also frowned at the use and screening of DSTV channels in commercial premises, including hotels, pubs, multi-tenant apartments, restaurants and clubs without obtaining a commercial licence from Multichoice.

The measurement, is it the short or long radius dat u measured. Told u to post a pix of it.
But guessing, i think ur dish is between 60cm and 90cm.

How many dishes are using. First of all, go to menu - system settings - factory reset. Enter four zero's if pin required.

Afterwards, if u are using two or more dishes, go outside and check which diseqc port number is connected to which satellite. (if u have any dish dat looks like its facing up, dats for multi tv. If dia's one dat is almost vertical, dat one is for emmanuel tv and co. So note the port numbers on the diseqc switch)

Not put on ur receiver, press menu, press ok, enter 4 zero's if required. Select dish settings if u are using more dan one dish. Scroll through the satellite names until u get to ''astra 2abd''. Go to disqc settings and set the port number for multitv first. Afterwards press exit once.

(If u're using one dish or after the above procedure)

Scroll down to manual scan. Check the satellite name for astra 2abd. Go down to frequency and press ''0''. Select edit and enter 12523 for frequency, 19531 for symbol rate and ''v'' or ''h'' for polarization depending on how ur dish was set. It should change to green now. Press ok to scan. Exit afterwards.

If u have two dishes and u were getting emmanuel tv before, now repeat above instructions but dis time look for ''intelsat 7/10 ku'' and set the diseqc port number. Go to manual scan and scan these frequencies

Leave the rx as it is. U can live with the logo. Or if u most, go ahead and upgrade.

Call back the installer if it was him dat sold it to u or take it back to where ever u got it from. Dat receiver may not be so good.

In the mean time, disconnect the lnb wire from the back of the rx and power it on to see if the same thing will happen

Saipro: Wrong thread but I'm sure someone here has tried tracking MBC on Badr @ 26E.
I'm trying to draft a backup plan for when MBC migrates to Eutelsat 7W & becomes (possibly) unreceivable by we <3.0m dish owners. Though my simple setup with an "ordinary" cut-up LNBF on a fibre 2.6 dish bests many guys (in Southern/Western/Eastern Nigeria) on a reception basis (@68%). Can't bank on that for the seemingly imminent migration (Eutelsat 7W). Focused help would be much appreciated.

PS: Has anyone noticed Eutelsat 7W (dubbed Nilesat 107) is slightly off from Nilesat 102 & 201. Noticed a while back but thought it worthwhile mentioning for guys tracking either satellite (it's infinitely easier tracking Al Jazeera on Eutelsat 7W as a start-off point)

many here also say its not possible to nail nilesat with 90cm but thats what am using

There's one thing u should know. When a ku band beam for example is labelled 38 dBW it means dat anyone in dat coverage area using an lnb rated @ 0.6 noise factor can use any dish from 150cm up to pick the signal.

This is an industry standard. It doesn't change. What can change is if the owners of the channel migrates to a beam that has a better dbw footprint coverage over your area. Den the value might go up to something like 50dbw whereby one can now pull it down with say 60cm. Regards.

NB: ait package is still on ku just dat it's now scrembled @ 17'e

To be on the safe side, I think 1.8m should do. Although u could try with 90cm and a good lnb and see what happens.

Astra 4a in a way faces south. It it above multitv.
This is how u track it.


Go to ur dish. Dia are two screws on both side dat u use to tighten the dish to ur desired elevation.
Now loosen the one on top on both sides. On close observation, u will notice their are two holes provided for the screw. Remove the top screw from the first hole and refix it in the inner one. (this will allow the dish attain the desired elevation in other to hit 4.8'e)

Now track joytv with 12523 v 19531 on astra 2f @ 28.6'e. Optimize the signal to the best u can get.

Now input 12015 v 29950 and standing at the back of your dish, start tracking the signal in this format.
While keeping your eyes on the signal on ur tv, raise ur dish vertically until it is almost facing the heavens, bring it down again. Shift the dish horizontally a bit to the right, raise up vertically again, down,
Again a bit to the right, up and down. A little to the right, up, down. Keep at it until the dish is like its faceing south.

Continue in this way and u should hit green. When u hit grenn, fine tune ur dish until u get the highest % u can get. Tighten and blindscan.

Pheeeew!!! Hope this helps. If u hit any difficulties, feel free to ask and we shall help out.

He claimed he'll need to take the decoder to their office in Lagos for a new software installation at my cost. Please, gurus in the house, how true is this. Is there anything I can do on my own as a novice to make it work?

Anyway, back to bussiness.

Put on ur rx. Select joy tv. Now press ''menu'' on ur remote, press ''ok'' enter 4 zero's if pin is required. Go down to manual scan. Press ok. Scroll down to frequency. Using the volume button on the remote, look for 12552.
When u get it, press ''0'' and select ''edit''. Enter 12523. Make sure the ''symbol rate''' is 19531. If not, enter it. Press ''ok'' and allow to scan. Exit after scanning and viola!, ur stations are back.

Revert back if u hit any difficulty. Regards.
