I saw the previous service sticker. Mobil 1 was used to service last.

First oil change i did i used mobil xhp 20w50, second oil change mechanic adviced to use Mobil 5w30 semi synthetic. I serviced last week and i used 20w50.
Car is barely driven though. i have done only around 2400km since i got.
My worry is which oil is best to use as I cannot find the recommended oil around me which is 5w20

Car Talk / Re: It's Always Good To Inspect Your Car Tyres Each Time You Pack. by olenyi: 4:44pm On Apr 08, 2023
fineboynl:
Yesterday I drove from home to buy yam. From yam to barb hair from hair to filling station. If was from filling station someone point my tyre to me.

When I came down to check it. It was flat a tyre I just bought 3 days ago.

When I drove out from the filling station I packed to inspect the flat tyre I want to go straight to where I bought the to cause a scene. But when I check I saw nail pouch through the tyre. I really can't tell where I pick the nail. If it's from house but one thing I was sure of is that it was intentional. Someone set the nail for me. Because this is not the first time.

And the funny thing is that I was going to the same club. The last time it happened was a week ago reasona I bought and change tyres. I went to the club pack car. Only for me to come out and met a flat tyre. I suffered that night. No jack, no spare tyre. No body even care to listen to me.

If not for the fact someone point this to me I would have go there pack the car only for me to come out and meet the same thing.

I would have suspect the people there.

If I have check the tyre before leaving home I would have trace where it happens.

But right now I'm 90% sure someone put the nail for me. Even the vulcanizer that patch the tyre think so. What is really happening?

Could this be a sign I should not go that club again. Even my babe when that was coming when she head about it she refused to come again. She too has a car she will come with. But I believe she think it's not a good sign to leave the house when she heard about my tyre issue.

I'm just confused. Is it's a warning sign to stop going to that club.

Are you a new driver? How would you not know you have a flat tire as a driver? You needed someone to point out to you that your tire is flat? Hmmm.... Ok

padeolu:
Hello everyone,

I am looking to purchase a mini van within my budget of 3.8 to 4 million naira for a foreign used vehicle (Tokunbo). I need a family car that is reliable, fuel-efficient, and has less maintenance cost. I currently have a 2001 Toyota Sienna that I have been using without any issues or concerns, so I am open to purchasing a newer model of the same or a different brand.

I would like to seek the advice of car professionals and those with experience in this area on the best mini vans to purchase within my budget. I am looking for a mini van that can comfortably seat a family of five or more, is spacious, easy to maintain, and has a good safety record.

I would appreciate any advice and recommendations you may have based on your experience and expertise. Please feel free to share any insights or tips that could help me make an informed decision.

Thank you in advance for your help.

2004 - 2006 Sienna
Volkswagen Sharan
Ford Galaxy
Seat Alhumbra.
Toyota Picnic.

The Sienna is more spacious. Others are more economical fuel and maintenance wise. Choose your poison.

Exactly all what you stated here is what is happening to my 2008 Honda accord V6 right now, the previous gear got spoilt, got a new gear and gave Kazeem to fix it, Kazeem didn’t fix the radiator hose well To the gear, gear oil started becoming milky and blinking D light, now the radiator is bad and leaking inside the gear, I told kazeem to disconnect the hose pending the time I will buy another radiator, right now can’t drive the car for 30mins straight to avoid over heating the gear sad

How can you disconnect the cooling hose of your gear. Looks like you want to ruin your transmission ba?

This one you don't yet have money to replace your radiator, is it now a new transmission that you can purchase? Hmmm... It's better you pack the car pending when you sort out that radiator and the transmission cooling hose.

My former company has not paid my pension contributions couple with their own contributions too for the past 7 years I worked with them 3 months after leaving them now

Any advice please

Write directly to Pencom and copy your PFA.

There is a Pencom law that a company must pay in the pension contributions each month without fail. Read up on it and get your lawyer involved if you don't get favourable response from Pencom. But I believe they will follow it up.

Health / Re: Is This A Fake Drug? by olenyi: 7:40pm On Jan 23, 2023
shortgun:
This drug Dexamethasone was prescribed by doctors in a Government hospital for my dad, getting to the pharmacy I was told that NAFDAC have stopped pharmacies from selling the drug and confiscated the ones in their warehouses.

I put a call across to the doctor to speak with the pharmacist about the development. After asking the pharmacist when the drug was withdrawn from circulation and other things the doctor insisted I get the drug in another pharmacy that have it in stock, this is after the pharmacist stood her ground that the drug is no longer safe as directed by NAFDAC.
I've gotten the drug but I am still not sure if I should let my dad take it cos of this confusion.
What do you guys think?

jaephoenix:

This right here is a typical Nigerian, very ignorant but proud in his ignorance.
You want a pharmacist to prescribe a med for a diagnosis s/he didn't make. Really? The pharmacist that doesn't know the disease disease pathology and complications? cheesy
In one fell swoop, you casted all the government doctors into the trash can, but you're forgetting private practice doctors refer patients to government hospitals which include tertiary health institutions like Teaching and Specialist Hospitals. These hospitals are where you have the best professors in the medical field. But somehow, you prefer a pharmacist's prescription to theirs. Or if you have tetanus infection, multiple myeloma etc, you'll rush to a pharmacist? grin
And no, you aren't better off with visiting a pharmacist with lab tests because lab tests does not give the complete picture of a disease. You need a doctor to examine and take history. Some lab tests are plain useless, example is Widal test. Now this test has been abandoned a long time ago but roadside labs still swindle ignorant folks like you to do it, and they tell you your titer is high and prescribe drugs for you that you have typhoid fever. Lol grin
Til now, I still get patients sending me test results like Widal and Malaria parasite test, asking me to prescribe drugs for them. I ignore most of them. Some I take history from them.
About the OP's case, here's what I know.
Dexamethazone is very much a safe drug. We use it in a range of disease like allergies, shock, premature labor etc. What is the issue here is the brand of dexamethazone here which is Xasten. NAFDAC found out Xasten, Destrax, Dexacure etc contain substandard amount of the dexamethazone. Meaning the dexamethazone is not up to 0.5mg in each tab. So, the doctor is right by telling you to get dexamethazone. He doesn't know the actual brand youre buying. The pharmacist is wrong(or maybe you misunderstood him/her) in saying dexamethazone is banned or fake. She should have told the doctor the particular brand is substandard and not tell him dexamethazone is not safe.

LaIabobo:
NAFDAC released an advisory that there are some substandard brands of this drug in circulation.

That doesn't mean all Dexamethasone are fake.

However, this particular brand was part of the substandard ones listed by NAFDAC last year.

Check number 18 on the list below...

https://www.nafdac.gov.ng/public-alert-no-040-2022-alert-on-detection-of-substandard-dexamethasone-products-in-nigeria/

Car Talk / Re: I Need Nitrogen For My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee by olenyi: 11:37pm On Dec 27, 2022
OyelSheik:
Good day Guys:

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has been giving air suspension issues.

I have changed;
1. Air pump (new)
2. Valve (new)
3. Right hand side Air Shocks ( Tokunbo)

And a bunch of other small bits and pieces.

Till now the car just refuses to rise.

The guys from Chanrai that I brought in to look at it using the oem scanning tool don’t also seem to know what the issue is.
The current guess is that the Nitrogen in the system is depleted.

Can I get a recommendation of someone who can help ?
