profsomebody: tanx boss. I av tried decoder 2 decoder update using rs232 bt it was telling me 2 connect SNB cable n power on. Dnt undastand bt a frend told me i bought d fake 4669x decoda cos d real one z no longer in market nd ma dad wil crusify me if i tell him this cos he wanted DSTV bt i convincd him 2 go 4 STRONG. Pls help me o.
First, did u buy the cable or u built ur own. follow the instructions on the tutorial carefully. Use a mjltimeter to check dat the number two pin of one head of the cable is connected to number 3 of the other head and vice versa. If not, then cut it and interchange it. Then try again.

NB: if u are not sure if the dealer u bought it from doesn't stock original strong products, den don't try it. Take it to dem to upgrade for u so u dont fry it.

dirifred: This your observation is very key to sustainable development.
1 The sincerity of the Executive(Federal or State) is what matters. most of those project are abandoned projects. they award fresh project as a cover-up for not completing the former project.
2 Continuity : every Executive want to make a mark, but only by abandoning what he me on ground or destroying them for fresh ideas. this can be taken care of if the legislative arm know their job. i mean what will it cost to develop a twenty year development plan for any state or country? even if developed will it be followed?
3 Over politicization of project: the need of the people does not matter, what will be more beneficial to their political needs at the moment is their priority.
sorry if the lines are disjointed,i wrote in a hurry, no time to edit. but that's about the picture in my mind
Quite incisive

Dede1: Nigeria is definitely on a backward slide. It is also called socio-political behavior marred by inherent stupidity. The description in the OP is a mark of inherent foolishness registered among Africans which deletes the essence of CPM in their everyday circle of thought. In addition, it is an extroversive display to excite moronic cross section of people by dunces who were spurred by errs of personality.

When new Owerri capital territory came to public notice, I inquired about the subsystems of wastewater collection and drinking water supply plans. The subsystem plans would have required the main pipes for these basic systems should be laid out in conjunction with the network of roads. The main pipes that will carry wastewater and drinking water had to run beneath the roads. Today, the new Owerri territory is recklessly besieged by individual boreholes and sewage wells.
Hmmm... Just pathetic.
@op,

......we are stuck in the middle!

It is good for thd society to produce at above 100%. Theoretically, efficiency of above 100% is also possible, however, when you factor in human experience....loosely called "work ethics"....then efficiency level of between 80% and 95% are desirable. The problem is the closer you get to this desirable range then the less hands you need to turn out results, which means more people have nothing to do and are sitting idle on payroll. So you fire them! That increases unemplymrnt and impacts family and households. It is therefore not a bad policy to keep people building up and tearing things down....the rework and cost is an undesirable redundancy but it helps family and household.
So u are suggesting that in order to put food on the table of the populace, government should therefore continue on this part of wasteful adventures all? Hmmm... My question then is, was this how America, which almost everyone is rushing to was built? #Just asking.

Obascoetubi: Pls, i already track w4 with my srt 4669xii, but all of them are not free except 5 chanels, but is it possible to move up my 90cm dish from w4 to w3c? If yes, how?
Try this tp 11024 h 03333. First track multi tv with this 12523 v 19531. Fine tune the signal to the best % u can get, then input 11024 h 03333 and standing at the back of the dish, raise it up and a little to the right. U should hit jackpot. Then blind scan.

I believe u already have a dish facing east which u are using. Now rotate the dish horizontally until its facing the exact opposite side (west) now input 11059 H 23700 into ur decoder and raising it up vertically, patiently and methodically start sweeping the sky. slowly up - down, shift a littly sideways, up - down, while keeping ur eye on ur tv for any tall tale sign of signal. patiently keep at it and u should hit jackpot. Revert back here if theirs any problem. Regards.

HOW TO BUILD AN RS 232 CABLE
Go to the guys selling computer parts. Buy an rs 232 cable (as shown in Diagram 1). You cantake the picture along with you for them to understand. Both ends of the cable should be female (with holes) See attached diagram. The connections will be
pin 2-----------------------------------pin 3
pin 3-----------------------------------pin 2
pin 5-----------------------------------pin 5
Though it may be difficult for you to physically know what connects to what, i willgive you my own style.
Take a cutter (or knife, pliers) and cut your cable into 2 at the midpoint (middle), you will find 9 coloured cables including a Unclad one. You will only need the Green, Orange, Red and the Unclad cable. Connects it like thisat both ends.
END 1 END 2
Red ------> connects to <----------- Orange
Orange ------> connects to <----------- Red
Green -----> connects to <----------- Green
Unclad wire ------> connects to <----------- Unclad wire
If you connect it well, then you are good to go. (make sure you cover the connected ends with cello tape before you destroy your decoder oooo)
Check the diagram for more details.
However, if your own cable is different, you will need a Multimeter (in the diagram) to test the cable to actually determine pin 2, 3 and 5 then you cross it as is shown in the diagram. How do you test? Alright, Turn the multimeter in such a way as if you are testingfor the resistance of the cable e.g. 2k, then connect one end of your Multimeter to pin 2 (second hole from right) (see pin diagram 1 -5, 6 – 9) and then the other end of the meter, use it to touch each ends of the coloured cables to test. If there is a deflection(analog) or value (for digital) , then you know that is the cable for that particular hole (pin 2) . Do the same to determine pin 3 and 5. The Unclad cable is easy to see. You can then connect the cable to your decoder and PC to start the transfer.

I'll advice u go for the HD decoders as broadcasters are migrating to HD transmission so u wont need to go and start getting another receiver after some time. And also it will afford u the added advantage of receiving some HD channels dat other receivers cant get. The prices range from #11000 for 4922 to #13500 for 4940 to #18000 for 4930. Well as for the best, i believe 4930 is ok if u can afford it and if its still available in ur area as it a bit scarce now. But u can go for the one u can afford. As for diseqc, it retails for around #250 to #400 depending on type and #1800 for the 8-in-one Best Regards.

Derbyman: . Wats d tp to track it
With all due respect, we all here has tracked amos 5 @17' at one point or the other, so just blindscan once u have gotten the other tp's. Or better still, www.lyngsat.com or www.flysat.com, were setup for exactly this purpose. So lets learn to do a little research once in a while. All this ''what tp'', ''drop tp'', etc makes the thread a little boring. Lets make lyngsat.com and flysat.com, our new best friend. How do we hope to learn if all the time we expect to be spoon fed. Hope u dont misconstrue my opinion. No slight intended bro. Cheers.

olushaggy: Please House, i have these 1.8m dish primarily used for Internet Broadband but not in use now.. I was thinking if it will be possible to convert this to track Tv channels?
And if possible, how?
More like 1m or 1.2m. Someone did the conversion here like last year with a 2.4m hooked to nilesat. Finding the link might be too much for me now. But like @d.lee said, face it to w4/w7, replace the present lnb with our normal one, and see wat happens. Though this will likely call for some improvising. Cheers.
PoliticsAre We Moving Forward Or Backwards. by olenyi(op): 3:19pm On Nov 26, 2012
Are we going forward or backwards.

I believe this is the right section to bring this up. Sorry if am wrong.

I've come to observe a certain pattern to the various developmental plans and massive constructions being carried out by our governors, or at least, the south east states. For example, an urban road contract is awarded to company A. During the construction, company A goes ahead to bulldoze everything in their part, cutting many fiber optic lines laid by the telcos and disrupting their services. Say in 6 months time when company A is almost at the concluding part of the project, a new water rehabilitation contract is awarded to company B. Now, company B will go ahead to break up all the roads already completed with the excuse of laying new water pipes. At the end of the day, the roads are left all torn up, returning them back to their bad state. After some months, another contract is yet again awarded company C for the provision of street lighting. C also goes ahead to tear up the remaining good part of the road. And the circle continues. Phew....
Now my question is
(1) is this how its done in other climes.
(2) shouldn't their be a better step by step/ planned phase by phase way of doing these things.
Because i find it really hard to understand how we could be going forward if we continue like this. Over to you.
