One thing I can assure you, it's a nice profession, like flight get a bit turbulent at take-off and cruise thereafter, so is Pilot career. Like take-off and landing is critical to flight, so is Pilot career. These words sums it up.

Rotary pilot is a good career choice. I am happy you have an idea of the cost implications. Same cost issues makes it difficult to get trained by companies though not impossible. However, to make yourself an attractive trainee pilot, you may want to get PPL license first.

To be frank with you, there's a little Nigerian factor in most companies funding your training. If you possess a BSc, it may work against you, as pilot with BSc easily progress to management, hence a typical Nigerian Oga feels threatened as you seem to have better prospect. To corroborate my point, you will realize most pilot trained by this companies have WAEC only as at when they got trained. Another Nigerian factor is who you have to speak for you. God bless Nigeria

My little advice is for you to get a PPL first, then search for companies that will trained you for CPL license. Don't be too quick to disclose you have a Degree if you got none to speak for you. Also be informed AW139, AW109, Bell412, are among the common types in Nigeria. Finally, talk with more people who knows you better and are close to the industry, they may be better positioned to advise you based on such knowledge.

We are in the same shoes ma'am. I have tried ehn, I gave up. Ilorin college of aviation charges 11million naira for 18months. I even talked to them about any scholarship program but they don't offer any. It's saddening

The new model 3 is about $35,000. Compare that to luxury cars like Benz and BMW, Tesla is very affordable, even Toyota Camry 2017 is almost $30,000.
You can get model S for $30,000

truth be said, its an overrated career like the other poster said. hundreds of qualified pilots are still seating at home..no jobs. Nigeria aviation sector is so bleak.

But you can try home tutored flight simulators like mine. i use XPLANE 10, FSX, AND PREPARD3D. with this softwares you can comfortably learn the procedures of piloting an aircraft.and earn cool rewards or even see sponsorship if you fly mostly online. KLM AND VIRGIN ATLANTIC do virtual airline programs and cadets where either paid cool cash or recruited. you can go a long way with that with knowing the basics

I have always wanted to be a pilot , I love airplanes and flying in general . I decided to check out the various flight schools around the world on the internet and I discovered one major thing , it's expensive . My question is that , how can I get a good sponsor to help with the fees , some foreign airlines offer cadet programs but you have to pay some sort of bond first . I would gladly appreciate any information guys . Thanks
