My barber is someone who learnt the skill even before going to the University. He opened the shop with his older brother. He was a teenager at that time and along with his brother, they kept doing the business. That did not however stop their education. I don’t know how they did it but both of them still kept on with their schooling.

His older brother got admission into the university while he continued the business. As his brother was about to graduate he also got admission into the university. With both of them very busy, they had to employ another person to take care of the business. Now both of them have degrees and the barbing business is still on.

So you see that one can help himself with the little skills he acquires and most can be acquired at little or no cost apart from your determination. It does not matter whether you’re a graduate or not because your destiny is not wrapped in your certificate.

The members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Italy have organised a peaceful protest in St. Peter’s square to meet Pope Francis on February 28, Sunday. For the first time in history a major world leader Pope Frances greeted the pro-Biafran protesters. He said: “I am greeting the believers from Gdansk, indigenous people of Biafra, students from Zaragoza, Huelva, Córdoba and Zafra, the young people of Formentera and the believers from Jaén.” Biafrans have organized protests in many countries across the world but never such prominent officials address the issue of Biafra.
The Catholic Church is the largest Christian church in the world. “Biafrans vowed to continue to protest peacefully anywhere possible and anywhere necessary until people and world leaders will follow the good example of Pope Francis to open up their lips to acknowledge Biafra,” the activists said. Biafrans announced that they will be stepping out in next few days for another European protest, this time in London.

Ebenezer Babatope, a former minister of transport, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the federal government to negotiate with pro-Biafra agitators in the interest of peace in the country.
According to Today.ng Babatope, who is also a member of the Board of the Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party, described himself as a loyal and staunch supporter of Biafra.

The ex-minister advised the demonstrators to be law abiding and avoid violence while making their demands.

“I am in total support of Biafra. I just wrote that in my column in Tribune Newspaper. I have always said that the federal government should talk to them because, not only that they are part and parcel of Nigeria, but they are citizens of this country and subjects of the federal government”.

Against the backdrop of the request by Biafra agitators and the organization of Emerging African States (OEAS) for the referendum to be conducted on the independence of Republic of Biafra, the European Union has replied the agitators.
The Biafra had earlier through OEAS requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini, to wade into the need to conduct a referendum for Biafra’s independence.

Sahara Reporters reported that the OEAS also called for the release of those it described as Biafran political prisoners and a stay of action by the Nigerian troops, and for quick referendum to be held within 90 daysThe Biafra had earlier through OEAS requested that the European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, Federica Mogherini, to wade into the need to conduct a referendum for Biafra’s independenceIn response to this request, Mogherini told Dr. Jonathan Levy, OEAS chief administrative officer, that while the European Union has strong diplomatic and economic relationship with Nigeria, the “protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms remains a priority for the EU and we encourage the authorities [Nigeria] in every occasion to respect such rights.”

The EU further went on to caution the OEAS and Biafran that the push for self-determination and border changes must be carried out within the ambits of established international law.

It added that Biafra can only be recognized through international law and not through armed secession.

The OEAS has called for an internationally recognized referendum on Biafra independence or autonomy.
In the same vein, OEAS advises all nonviolent means should be utilized including general strikes, economic boycotts, work actions, demonstrations, lawsuits, and civil disobedience. Nigeria is a member of The International Labor Organization (ILO). The ILO recognizes the right to engage in general strikes and the right to strike is also recogniazed in the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966 (Article 8(1)

An anonymous Muslim group has hacked the website of the Lagos state government, Today, December 18.
The state government’s website, www.lagosstate.gov.ng was taken over by the group that claimed to be protesting against the killing of Muslims and innocent people all over the world, The Punch reports.

Instead of information about the state being displayed on the website, a message condemning supposed killing of Zakzaky’s family by the Nigerians government.

The Shiite sect on the orders of their leader, Ibrahim Alzak-zaky, attacked the convoy of Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, in Kaduna state which resulted in the killing of members of the group by the soldiers.
The statement read:” In the name of God, message to Nigerian Government and State Sponsors of Terrorism(USA, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar): Boko Haram and ISIS are terrorists.

Director of the Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu

Following the release of the director of radio Biafra and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on December 17, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has reacted.


Ezeonwuka, who is a member of the Board of Trustees of APGA, while speaking with journalists in Onitsha, lauded the release of the IPOB leader from detention, saying the development was a welcomed one.

The elder statesman and Igbo leader described him as a “hero,” adding that the development will go a long way to ease the high tension surrounding Kanu’s detention.

He said the radio Biafra director’s discharge from the case filed against him by the DSS, was a landmark victory for justice, Ndigbo and the people who were agitating for their right in a way they decided to do it.

According to him, the court had once again proven to be the last hope of the common man.

“Kanu has emerged as a hero of Ndigbo and nobody can take that away from him. His agitation leading to his arrest and detention has made our voice to be heard, opened our wound to the glaring notice of the people that matters in Nigeria and I believe that something good will follow the issues he raised, therefore the issues surrounding him have to be given serious attention. In my capacity as Ogirisi Igbo, I want to advice him to listen to our elders’ advice on how to address our problems. I’m sure he must have realized that we are all behind him now, so let him take our advice.


“the issue of Biafra is all about the wellbeing of the Igbo man in the Nigerian setting and Biafra is as good as a dream come true when the roads are fixed, when the lights shine uninterrupted, when jobs are available for youths, when there is enough federal presence in the southeast, when the federal appointments are balanced among the geopolitical zones and when the Igbo man is president. Meanwhile, despite the reported release of Kanu, no fewer than five persons were shot dead on Thursday, December 17, during a clash between the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), and the Joint Task Force (JTF).

Kanu, who has been in DSS detention since October 17, was ordered to be released by a Federal High Court “unconditionally.”

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, was recently released from detention unconditional and all charges dropped against him. But many Nigerians have questioned the rationale for releasing Kanu who had sought to use Biafra to divide Nigeria. While many have argued that his release will promote peace, others have also reasoned that he should have been tried and jailed as deterrent to others who secessionists.

Nnamdi Kanu who is also the director of Radio Biafra and the brain behind the separatist group, IPOB group was recently granted unconditional release by the courts.

Kanu who wants a separate country for the people of Biafra had been operating a pirate radio station from his base in Ireland where he had used the broadcast channel to lampoon the Nigerian government and its leaders.

The Federal High Court in Abuja today, December 17, has ordered immediate and unconditional release of the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, bail.
High Court Decides Kanu’s Bail Application
Presiding over a bail application filed by Egechukwu Obetta, Kanu’s counsel, Justice Ademola Adeniyi ordered that the Biafra agitator be released.

Adeniyi’s order came after Obetta challenged the continuous detention of his client by the State Security Services (SSS) following an order obtained from the Federal High Court to detain Kanu for 90 days.

But Obetta in his submissions said the SSS had fraudulently approached the court to obtain the order even while the case was before a chief magistrate, Shuaibu Usman of the magistrate court in Abuja.

Obetta asked the court to revoke its order which alleged that Kanu was being investigated for terrorism and terrorism funding by the SSS.

Also speaking on today’s court ruling, Obetta said this order is a victory for justice and democracy.

Kanu, who is also the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra has been in the DSS custody since October when he was arraigned by the DSS operatives in Lagos and moved to Abuja.

Arguing, the counsel to the DSS, Mr. Moses Idakwo, objected to Kanu’s bail application and asked the court not to admit the suspect on bail because he was allegedly involved in terrorism acts.

A Magistrate Court sitting in Abuja on December 16 discharged the cases against Kanu. However, his lawyer Vuincent Obette said that Biafra leader is yet to be released from the custody.

Matthew Kukah, the catholic bishop of
Sokoto Diocese, has insisted that pro-Biafra
activists are entitled to the freedom of
expression and gave advise to the Nigerian
government in this regard.
The cleric made his position known on
Friday, December 11, in a university of Osun
state where he delivered a convocation
lecture, Vanguard reports.
He therefore advised the federal government
to cooperate with Nnamdi Kanu, the
charismatic Radio Biafra director, instead of
prosecuting him.
Kukah added that no Nigerian politician could

At least seven people died in Zaria, Kaduna
state, following a clash between soldiers and
members of a Shiite Muslim sect.

Ever wondered what Jesus really looked like? An answer may have emerged on popularmechanics.com from an exciting new field of science “forensic anthropology”.

This follows a discovery from British scientists, assisted by Israeli archeologists, of what they believe is the most accurate image of the most famous face in human history.

While this field of science, “forensic anthropology” is usually used to solve crimes, Richard Neave, a medical artist retired from the University of Manchester in England, realized it also could shed light on the appearance of Jesus.

This is not Neave’s first discovery as he has ventured into controversial areas before. Over the past two decades, he had reconstructed dozens of famous faces, including Philip II of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the Great, and King Midas of Phrygia.

In order to create an accurate portrait of Jesus, Neave and his research team’s first step was to acquire skulls from near Jerusalem, the region where Jesus lived and preached.

With three well-preserved specimens from the time of Jesus in hand, Neave used computerized tomography to create X-ray “slices” of the skulls, thus revealing minute details about each one’s structure.

Special computer programmes then evaluated reams of information about known measurements of the thickness of soft tissue at key areas on human faces. This made it possible to re-create the muscles and skin overlying a representative Semite skull.
