The SSG IMO State made the statement through SA in social media on his facebook page.

His Excellency, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha CON, has directed the suspension of all Ezeship Coronation Ceremonies in every Autonomous Community in the State forthwith. Any intending Coronation ceremonies must be with the express approval of His Excellency the Governor of Imo State.

His Excellency has also suspended the recognition of the last batch of newly created Autonomous Communities by the previous administration. All letters of recognition purportedly issued from the 1st day of Jan. 2019 are hereby cancelled.

This is as the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, dismissed the joinder application by the All Progressives Ground Alliance, APGA, in the case between the All Progressives Congress, APC, factions of Tonye Cole and Sen Magnus Abe and 42 other candidates over earlier Federal High Court ruling. The three man appeal panel led by Justice Ali Gumel, in dismissing the application, held that the party seeking to be joined failed to provide sufficient legal interest in the matter it wished to join. INEC had disqualified the APC from contesting the election over the crisis which affected its primaries. There are two factions of the party in the state. One led by Chubuike Amaechi, Minister of Transportation while Magnus Abe, a serving senator, leads the other faction. Tonye Princewill, director of strategic communications for the campaign of Tonye Cole, guber candidate of the Amaechi faction, said conducting the election without the APC will be “an exercise in futility”. He said giving the APC candidates an extension of time to go about their campaigns was necessary because of the “disruption by the legal tussle.”

INEC had on Thursday, January 17, released a list signed by the commission’s secretary, Rose Orianran-Anthony and while candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Labour Party among others made the list, those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were excluded.

A Federal High court in Port Harcourt, the state capital had nullified the direct and indirect primaries conducted by the two factions of the APC in Rivers.

The court presided over by Justice Kolawole Omotosho held that both primaries were not conducted according to the law.

Justice Omotosho had also restrained the electoral body from recognising Tonye Cole and Magnus Abe as governorship candidates of the APC in the general elections.

Senator Abe was declared the winner of a direct governorship primary conducted by a faction of the party in 2018 after polling 144, 929 votes.

But Cole emerged the winner of an indirect primary held by another faction with 3,329 votes.

Following the rulings. the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers, Obo Effanga, insisted that the electoral umpire would always obey court injunctions.

Our military risk they life in the bush fighting and protecting the country against the enemy.
