11k more expensive.
Can move it around, locally even globally (see terms and conditions) unike residential (fixed)
Same speed as residential 90% of the time; other 10% slightly lower speeds (only mostly during peak hours)
Everything else remains the same
Does this means it comes with it own battery? And I have the residential one already, do I just need to upgrade or will need to buy it separately now? I don't mind either.

Kelechi009:

I was waiting for a good response for this, so I scrolled through all the pages but none from @zooposki

I recently engaged in an argument with a woman who vehemently opposed my viewpoint. Following the disagreement, she harbored resentment towards me because I presented clear and compelling reasons to support my stance.

Before marriage

- Man pays bride price
- Man pays for the wedding (Traditional & Church)

After marriage:

- Man pays rent?
- Man pays School fees?
- Man pays for Feeding you, the kids and himself?
- Man still buys her luxuries for her on her Birthday, Valentines day, Mother's Day, Christmas Day & other occasions across the year.
- Man buys her a car

All of this is done is Nigerian families (home & abroad), then @zooposki calls it unpaid labour.

So I asked further:

Would you consider switching roles, taking on the responsibility of paying all the bills while your husband relaxes and offers occasional support? Typically, the response to this proposition is negative.

In conclusion:

Women often become displeased upon realizing that their husbands are cognizant of this reality. Some may even develop animosity towards their spouses, akin to what @zooposki expressed, or you may begin to encounter microaggressions within the household. I sincerely hope this isn't your situation, Mr. @oliverwrites.
I doubt she will ever reply. They prefer to believe their narrative.

Hope the housework, cooking, cleaning, looking after the children etc will also be 50/50.

Being a trad wife is just unpaid labour. While the husband is out there building his career, you the wife just sits at home doing unpaid labour. I wonder what would happen to the trad wife when the husband leaves, na suffer cos no money.
Unpaid labour? Westernisation is affecting Nigeria women. Does he pay rent? School fees? Feeding you, the kids and himself? Isn't that enough payment?

Plus when the children grow who between you and him is going to benefit from them more?

If you are referring to irresponsible idiotas I agree but for those of us who are trying as much as possible to be responsible, marriage is against us but for our women.

I personally spell this out to my wife whenever that we have equal right nonsense comes up. Some of us know marriage is against us, but we also do know that it is a mandate from GOD and not doing it is not an option.

I will take care of my wife and kids till I die, how they behave is none of my business. My mandate is my mandate. Can be tough and painful especially when women are being women, but it is what it is.

Politics / Re: FG’s Monthly Electricity Subsidy Spending To Crash By 52% On New Tariff Hike by oliverwrites: 10:10am On Apr 05
ruffhandu:

So you also think others think so? Paying 200k a month on how much salary? Besides, I hope you all know that electricity is not more essential than food and education, so a man has to feed, clothe and educate his family before giving thought to some of these other bills. It simply means that these people do not wish a good life for the citizenry. They are not even thinking of 24hrs electricity. I would have wished they provide the electricity first, then start negotiating the fee.

If I may ask. What does the government now subsidize? They have removed subsidy on petroleum, education, and now electricity. These people are wicked. Shouldn't they have increased wages first? Now they will feast on the money they removed from subsidy, just like they are already doing through budget padding. Nigerians I pity.
Sadly I agree with you and when I wrote what I wrote, I wrote it selfishing considering my own situation. I am totally against the hike and for the reasons you highlighted.

People claim Nigerians don't pay tax but every Nigerian at least pays VAT, does the vat they collect in addition to the vast natural resources we have correlates with development in the land? Sadly no.

Lol if 36 states was former capital territory with access to sea ports etc you would have seen that Lagos is underdeveloped. If you think that Lagos is not a special state why don't the expertise of Lagos spread to Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo, Osun?
Even a toddler can rule Lagos going by it's IGR so stop making nonsense comparisons.
Mentioned which 36 state was former capital territory and mentioned which of the States has a seaport?
Was Cross River not also a former capital? Does Abuja generate as much as Lagos?

And it is convenient as you have ruled out Oyo State which is the state that is the most beneficial of the ripple on effects of Lagos State.

I don't do this party or tribal nonsense with you guys, I speak based on reality. Most south Eastern and South Southern states get more allocation than Lagos can you without sentiments confidently say that development in those states is proportional to the allocations they get?

Remove your hate taint glass and you will see clearly.

I also don't think it's just about them needing a fixed amount of money, it is more about steady inflow of liquidity, maybe to pay for gas, for maintenance, salaries, and so many other stuffs that as a lay man, i am not privy to
I perfectly understand this but if Nigerians are paranoid then blame the political class and not Nigerians.

We have suffered enough for their madness. If funds is the problem, they should hike the price but agree to refunding people if there is no improvement. The Nigerian businessman you know will enjoy the hike and then sit on their hands.

It is plausible that if there's enough liquidity in the sector, the companies involved in generation and distribution will invest more to ensure stable power supply....ur concerns are valid, but if under proper oversight, the companies might have steady inflow of funds to invest in its supply chain and ensure better power availability
They should then get a loan and fix the issue then charge more. It is as simple as that.

The thing is, at the end, the other countries enjoy constant power because the sector was allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs.

I mean, the government allowed GSM to set their prices, and they were very expensive. (Some of us waited until Nitel came out with its own cheaper GSM service before we considered getting a phone back then). But it was precisely the fact that they were allowed to set their prices that we went from Telephones are for the rich in the 1980's to having even poor people own their phones.

Money breeds improvement breeds eventual cut in prices. Subsides is a nice way of helping the rich, when you think you are helping the poor.
I am in agreement with you but Nigeria is peculiar. Take the issue of diesel for example. Has removal of subsidy led to decrease in price?

Nigerians are paying VAT and should benefit. I produce my own water, spend crazy money on car maintenance cos the political class is useless, practically produce my own electricity, fully funded my own education because the public schools are rotten, what is the point of the tax I pay then?

This is the issue. Plus I am pretty sure the hike won't lead to an improvement. It is a case of seen it before, done it before.

what if the tariff hike leads to improved power supply. The minister of power claims we are owing gas company hence the epileptic power supply.
Take loans to pay whatever is owed. We should not be forced to pay for the corruption of a select few.

The price hike can only be justified if it amounts to an immediate improvement in supply. I personally don't mind paying 200k a month to enjoy constant power supply and I am pretty sure most of the people in the so called band A areas don't mind but thing is, you are charging more whilst still giving less. Check out the so called band A areas in your state and you will find out that they don't enjoy half of 20 hours per day all year round.

Decentralization won't solve the problem

It costs a lot of money to produce power, to pay for maintenance of power structures like gas generation plants, etc. That is why the power sector has to make a generous profit (yes they made one trillion last year, but as the experts said back in 2016, the sector needs something like 3 trillion yearly for 30 years, plus current debt owed to the gas companies is nearly 2 trillion naira)..which is why it needs to be allowed to set its price.

LIke they did in Ivory coast from 1993, which is why the last grid collapse there happened in the eightes.
I am up for the distribution companies setting their prices but you can't ask Nigerians to pay same as those in other countries that enjoy constant electricity.

What they should have done is hike the price then agree to charge lower for times people do not get up to the agreed 20 hours per day ( difficult to implement though ).

Also, makes no sense to ask Nigerians to pay for the corruption of the political class. It is madness.

It's a stupid challenge.
Dr Abah is not smart at all.

I don't know why some people like playing to the gallery when serious issues are at hand

Why would someone pay ₦225 per kWh even if you have light for 24 hours a day? Isn't that outrageous?

Now he is saying he's ready to pay ₦1m for 3 months if he is giving 24 hr supply.

Absolute nonsense!
It is simple math. I currently spend 13k a month on nepa. And about 15-20k daily on fuel. That's minimum of 450k a month on fuel, if you increase my power supply to 20 hours a day and are taking 200k and letting me spend only 50k a month on fuel saving me 200k a month plus the cost of servicing my generator then it is no brainer for me and I know many people are in this shoe as well.

I need constant electricity for my work ( I work from home ) and will gladly pay200k for more power supply. However, the sad thing is, NEPA can't give any part of the country 20 hours per day at the moment. They will do it maybe for few weeks to justify the hike but we all know it won't last.

Sad.

i honestly agree with you. However, the move to freelance the naira and the electricity price hike makes absolutely no sense. The price hike especially makes no sense as 97% of Nigeria get less than 20 hours of electricity.

You obviously didn't read the full report.

However, I agree on what you said about the state governors are certainly the real problem of Nigeria. People don't demand accountability from their governors and this is a big problem.

We need to decentralise this country. Until then nothing will give. This new electricity act will be massive and will further show why we need to decentralise.

Some governors are just sitting on their hands doing nothing but collecting and looting allocations.

I have supported most moves by this government but on this I do not agree. I personally don't mind paying as much as 200k per month for electricity ( I currently pay about 13k monthly and about 450k on generator ) however, you can't ask people to pay 225 when they don't get even up to 8 hours of electricity per day. It is madness and absolutely unacceptable.

Nigerians should not be made to suffer for the problem the corruption of the political class brought upon us.

I hope people stand up against this nonsense.

They won’t accept the challenge.

The 20hours power supply on band A is a scam. Where I stay is categorized under band A. As at yesterday, we had light for a total of 10hours. 20 hours was promised to justify the N225 per kW. How is 10hours now equal to 20 hours?

Last year, EKEDC increased the tariff promising 20 hours power supply. We were paying more per kW. Did they deliver on the promise? Yes, but it lasted only a few weeks. Was the tariff reduced to what it was after they failed to deliver as promised? NO. During the few weeks it lasted, national grid collapse never affected our power supply. That’s when I realized that power can improve in the country if they want it to.

As for this their ‘band A’ scam, it’s just a way of increasing electricity tariff without causing protests. E go reach everybody. The issue be say power supply no go improve.
Something has to give, I think there will eventually be mad protests. You can't give people so little and expect so much. The suffering will get to people and eventually there will be protests not on just the electricity issue alone.

I personally don't mind paying 225 per kilo watt but only if they are delivering on what is promised.
