Agents are hustling for their own pockets, don't follow their words, they will dump you. I have had a second hand experience with one of them. When it happens, they won't pick your calls again. The installer that came for mine stopped picking his calls immediately after installation. You won't understand till you have an issue with the service Hercules22: I'm no agent. I was only trying to share my experience. When my device was installed the POS blinked which meant that it wasn't configured yet. They said it would take 24-48 hours to be activated. It was after the call from mtn that PON light stopped blinking. I was even advised by the agent that the process is easier going through them. You wouldn't have to wait too long for installation, configuration, and activation. I also received a follow up message from the agent asking if my Internet was active else he would escalate. |

Make I bring wire Baba nani667: Yup.. most likely damage, my annoyance is the fact that it is taking sooooo long to rectify the issue.
This is something that in a saner environment as soon as they received the report should have been resolved in a few hours.
The whole thing is unacceptable ... since Wednesday me and everyone else in this area using the FibreX have been taken back to the dark ages..
I am getting Airtel this week sha, let me test run that one. |

No offence taken, I was just stirring his emotions 🤣, I have switched the router off since yesterday. They should come for it whenever they are ready Ovems: I don't think he meant any offence by his comment, to me anyway. What I read from his comment is that some agent follow through, for those they pitched to and registered for, until the device becomes active. |

You typed like an agent and it is fine. So those of us with blinking PON light found the router on the road and we deserve to be in the situation that we are. Thank you for pointing that out. It is ridiculously funny to me anyway. Hercules22: I went through an mtn sales agent. I paid 25k on Monday last week and device installed the following day. Thursday, I received a call from mtn during the early hours of the morning for device configuration. They asked if the PON light was blinking and later it became stable. I also noticed the Internet light was stable. During the afternoon hours I received an sms that my unlimited data was active and noticed the Internet light started blinking. The sales agent called to confirm if I had Internet access and I confirmed it was active. So far the speed is fast and no challenges. I've been streaming and downloading large data. MTN is simply the best internet service provider.
It's important to go through an agent who can follow up from start to finish. You may also contact 217 for them to escalate issues if need be. They are willing to help and support. |

Ovems: What's been their response to your own issue? Is there no available engineer to come and install yours? it has been installed since Monday and the router refused to work. Someone came yesterday and he wasn't prepared for the issue. We might be dealing with incompatible hardware issue |

Sorry baba, I understand how you feel. Reliability is a big concern. I think MTN does not have the required number of workforce for this project because if they do, how many minutes will it take to repair a fibre cable cut if that's what is happening at your end. I still have a dumb router here also. nani667: Still down.. Since Wednesday 🤦🏽♂️
MTN has disappointed me sha, simply means they cannot be relied on at all. 5 to 6 days and they are yet fix the issue...
Basically means that this will be the same experience whenever there is another issue in the future.. and only God knows when this one will be sorted.
And they just sent me a message last night that my subscription will renew on the 28th
Dem no go see any money collect sef...
I will find time and go to Airtel office this week and try that their new router, it is the same 25K and free installation.. so that 25K I am supposed to pay for the FibreX sub I will rather use it to test run Airtel. I will park their FibreX router in one corner for now, I am not willing to go through this frustration and embarrassment again.
MTN has really messed up |

I'd be watching the router with side eye whenever it starts working nani667: It is too early for all these problems sha..
Downtime for three days now... good thing that the month is already ending...once my sub expires na to just park their router one corner and return to broadband. |

Amen thank you. I understand that there maybe teething problems at the beginning of a project but the way it is handled goes a long way. I pray they get it right and I want other players to be competitive, this will make the market favour the subscribers Ovems: So sorry about this. Didn't know you were going through your own issues with them yet you were providing solutions for me. Wish I could help the way you did for me but alas I am a novice at this. I pray you get a quick resolution. |

This makes it the fifth day, at least they should tell us if something is wrong. They have been giving me excuses without a resolution timeline nani667: Very annoying.. this is the first downtime I am experiencing, and it has lasted for over 24 hours and counting...
As for your activation, it is surprising, it should have been activated already. Mine was activated less than an hour after the installation people left. |

It's too early for all these issues if you ask me, I have a router here in my house that was installed on Monday and has not been activated till now. I hope they improve on the overall service. It is superb when it's working but what about downtime? Reliability is what sells a service and not noise nani667: FibreX Serious network outage in my area...
Network has been down since yesterday, came back from work now and network is still down..
Red light has been blinking for over 24 hours.
Called them and they said there is network issue in this area.. wahala.
And my MTN line on my phone is browsing well. 🤦🏽♂️ |

Please update us when it starts working. Good luck with that Ovems: Whenever we call the lady that called for activation, she doesn't pick up. We intend to call the guy that said the issue will be escalated to Lagos. I will also call this 217 as you just suggested. Thanks! |
Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by oloet: 7:52am On Oct 23, 2025 |
This is not good, start by calling 217 to resolve or you can call the person that called you for activation Ovems: Ok. Thanks! They called sometime yesterday that we should send the serial number on the device and that the issue will be escalated to Lagos.
We just got a text this morning that the activation was successful and that it will expire on the 21th of next month. Meanwhile, it's still not working 🤣🤣 Wahala.

The wlan light blinks when you are connected to the router. Subscription starts counting as soon as the router starts working Ovems: I just hope that the subscription has not started counting. Is the WLAN light supposed to be blinking or stable when it's working? |
Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by oloet: 8:37pm On Oct 22, 2025 |
Wow, MTN needs to get it together. How can you install something and activating it becomes a herculean task Ovems: The PON light was stable for over an hour at least and still no internet. PHCN has taken the light now so we don't know if it would have been working now. |
Phones › Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by oloet: 7:34pm On Oct 22, 2025 |
Your router should be working now since the pon light is stable Ovems: Hello, our device is the same as yours. It was installed on Monday at around 12noon and the call for activation came in on Tuesday 2pm. Up till now, it hasn't been activated. We called the lady back this morning and she said she's on it.
I want to even know it the installation was done right. 3 green lights are on. The power light, PON (this one has been flashing since it was installed) and the WLAN ( this one flashes a few times and then stops). What could be the issue?
Update: the three lights are still on but not blinking anymore. Well, except for the WLAN light which still blinks occasionally and stops. |

ask4bk: This felicity chargers tell you max vdc is 130vdc, but they never say what's the max current it can handle. It only states charging current (80a in this case) but that's different from the max current into it's input (or maybe I'm wrong). I don't want to create strings of panels in parallel that will increase current and burn the charger.

Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by oloet: 8:33am On Jul 19, 2025 |
The controller in question is a PWM cc and it is behaving normal since we are in a cloudy season and there is a possibility that your load is more than what it can generate from the sun so it basically pull from the battery when there is cloud cover then comes back recharging the battery when the cloud clears BigDickProblems: Sorry, I typed it hurriedly. What I meant is that, I made those settings (shown below) on my WPM controller in order to charge my LiPo4 battery. But instead of my Battery to stay float (I.e stay around 14.1V or 14.2V for the whole sunny period) when fully charged, it rather starts drifting through different voltages randomly (btwn 14.3V to 13.1V) . For instance, if it’s fully charged for the day at around 14.6V, it quickly drifts to 13.1V, then 13.6V, and then back to 14.6V and keeps repeating that pattern.
My concern here is that, I feel that this process will deteriorate my battery in the long run because I have a feeling that the controller keeps recharging the battery so many times in a day through that process (this is just my thought). Previously when my MPPT controller was working fine, it ensures that the battery stays at its float voltage once it’s full, but the same cannot be said about this WPM. It is worth noting that I carry loads on my battery during this charging periods.
So my question is, is it normal or am I killing the battery without knowing it? Are those settings wrong?
And then, there is this other default settings on this same WPM controller that works fine for LiPo4 battery too, however, the issue here is that once the battery is full, the controller quits charging. Meaning that the remaining sunny period will waste for nothing. In this case, it seems to help the battery but the system won’t last since it’s under load and will not be charged once it’s full through the remaining sunny period to the next morning.
These are the settings:
Rcv (Recovery Charging Voltage) 14.2V Scv (Constant Charging Voltage) 14.3V LVD (Low voltage Disconnect) 12.0V LVR (Low voltage reconnect) 13.7
Thanks in advance chief. |
