Is this the best PDP can come up with? What is with PDP and GMB's certificate? have always insisted that PDP has no viable campaign strategy in place. Why are the afraid to take this case to court if they are sure of their argument? They are sinking fast and holding on to the last straw available. Every sensible Nigerian knows Buhari meets the minimum requirement. PDP should be careful in dragging the military institution in mud in their desperation to to deceive the gullible. Ridiculous and infantile campaign is all we see from PDP when will serious national issues of security, citizenship, economy etc be discussed, bunch of ...... Shame on PDP!!! |

Election is not war-Buhari! WORD!!! |
No doubt Gov. Fayose went over-board with his inflammatory advert, but the name calling and counter name callings are not what we need now as a nation, the presidency and all well meaning Nigerians should condemn what Fayose as a deterrent for such excesses in future. P.S: Punch Newspaper (and other media outlets) should be responsible about the adverts they put out in the public, profit motive should be matched against social responsibilities in such cases. |
This is a good development. But why is it taking government years to seal off those selling kerosene above N50 per litre? are they among the untouchables? |
There is no need for any slamming here. It is good enough that they have disassociated the presidency from such reckless statements. That is all that matter! Nigeria's well being should be our fundamental priority. |
What about kerosene?? |
kenonze:...and how did you confirm it was his genuine twitter account? Let's show some love and respect for the departed if indeed the news is true! One love! |
@Op, please where is the link to the source of your story? meanwhile, are these the issue based campaigns we were promised? |
Brilliant piece from a brilliant mind! An epic from Keyamo, couldn't have put it better! |
What is with all these desperation to see GMB disqualified? thought PDP were faking celebration of his nomination as APC flagbearer, with the excuse that he is unelectable? who is afraid of the polls now? GMB remains APC candidate, PDP should deal with it and come up with better campaign strategies abeg! |
[quote author=basty post=29774650]@ Op, you are one the best rational being on Nairaland. Some nonentities are busy putting tribal, religious and political sentiments in every discuss. Is Nigeria under Jonathan a country of our dreams? The present Government of Jonathan has failed everybody, we need a divine change irrespective of tribal, religious and political affiliation. We youths especially from the lowly background are in for it should Jonathan get the second term. We desperately need a change. |
Nice one. At the end of it all....the peace and wellness of Nigeria remains paramount! |
ONE CHANCE…. We wailed, and thronged into the Street If the captain is incapacitated and sick Certainly his deputy must stand on his feet And ascend the much coveted seat He promised transformation and freshest of air Hurray, we clasped, finally the hero is here To put a nail on the coffin of our despair For now the gods to us at last are fair I had no shoes we were told Then our reasoning we sold For if indeed the sailor had no shoe Why would he give a damn on our rue Soon came the anticipated debate of course, he had issues with the date Why sir, you can come late if you may No no, I’d rather it be myself I face Not a few doubted his ability and competency the omens were luminous for all to see We got blinded by the academic decency For once, we said, a tribesman from the sea! Four rainy seasons on he led Please do something anew we begged With a billion he fed, while the million starved to bed Could this be the transformation of which was said? Bombs and bullets everywhere At first, we will deal with them he swears With no plans nor strategy in the clear He advises we learn to live with the fear After the storm came the flood Howbeit, olokun did not spare us her rod We indeed deserved to be so flogged For how can a people be so on the wrong? Next time, we’ll learn to take our chance With eyes opened wide and enhanced Not be hoodwinked like a nation in a trance For now, truly, we don enter….ONE CHANCE. |
sped1oro: I have been wondering for quite some time why the dreaded Boko Haram sect has not tried creating an awareness in the south-western part of the country.Because the usual style of groups like this is to create fear and causes division amongst the people, invariably it means they are only fighting a regional war and one can infer from their modus operandi that they are not really fighting for Islam as they proclaimed.Maybe their relatives and families down south would have warned them not to try any stupi act which may cause them to leave lagos especially en-masse.Bros, why are you particularly interested in boko haram attacking the southwest or any other part of the country for that matter? please lets thread with caution and reason on this national malaise, or dont you think that our security arms are already overwhelmed with their activities in the few states they operate from as it is now? does it ever occur to you that everytime a bomb goes off an innocent citizen like you and i is caught up? that someone somewhere is losing a father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister? would you want them to start with your residence, if i may ask? lets stay out of the mundane as it is for now and pray for an end to these senseless killings. |
ballabriggs: That is why you are a mugu. We spend 40billion naira, what of the benefits? Do you analyse costs alone without benefits? That is why we are economists and we look at cost-benefit considerations before reaching a conclusion. Most of the benefits we see are even intangible and we don't expect mugu's like you to see it. Some of you people are really daft beyond repair. GOSH!!! Is this what Nigeria has become, that young people cannot analyse issues critically? If you take ten 1000 naira notes and put it into two 5000naira notes, is that not savings? In terms of handling, minting, storage e.t.c. To the aggregate economy, more efficient transactions. We know your Alaba brain cannot see beyond the money you store under your bed.Bros/Madam are you for real? all these vituperation just to prove how knowledgeable you are and how ignorant the rest of us? hmmm...and you are the one analyzing issues critically? Pls read through @chambers2 and tell us what new economic theory you have been able to postulate to counter his sound argument. (I just want to believe that your likes have lost touch with the realities in Nigeria). This policy is designed to simply help the rich and further impoverish the poor, can't seem to know how else to explain this to you with you vast knowledge of economics without receiving invective from you as you threw at chambers2. Why not use your economic acumen to advise CBN to logically, methodically pursue the cashless policy to a desired end first. that way cost will be reduced and efficiency will be brought to bear on our economy. What is the opportunity cost of this CURE programme, should it be our priority as a nation now? are there no better alternative?(in view of the backlash from the citizenry), these are the questions that bothers us sir/ma |
faithin9ja: I pity the iliteracy and ignorance of NigeriansSorry sir/ma, we are not as illiterate and ignorant as you want to believe. We are just facing plain realities of the circumstances of Nigeria, the perpetual disconnect between the lead vs leaders, rich vs poor The crux of these barrage is that a government is not doing enough to protect the common man (70% of who live on less than 2 dollars a day), will go to any length to make life easier for the rich, at the end of the day the rich only gets richer and the poor masses gets poorer. Yes, nothing is wrong woth paying a taxi driver in coins, but do you know that presently Nigerian banks don't even accept coins as deposits from customers? is that the situation in UK? When you say we useD coins before the mid 80's, remember our highest bill then was N20! Yes, they will still be corrupt, but they will not find it easy carting their loots if our highest bills remains as it is.remember one of the reasons for going cashless was to curb corruption, as most illegal deals are cash based (to avoid trails), no criminal wants to pass their loot through the banking system or cashlessly. The poor are the victim of this new policy, it will not affect many of those opposing, who barely use the lower notes as they are already. The lower bills are mostly used by the poor and less priviledged, and you'd be shocked how much these monies are valued outside the city centers(especially in the rural areas) once you coin these notes IT WILL GO OUT OF USE, it has been proven time and time over in this environment, we need not make pretenses about it with big sounding grammars and UK templates. How many will the pure water/orange seller be able to hold in his/her pocket before they start to wear him/how down? which bank will they take them to at the end of the day's sales? will you expect him/her to still collect them the next day after the agony of the previous day? no sir, he will simply tell you "oga na 5 for Hundred naira" then goes the end of the coins. |
What is the federal government up to again? who is deceiving who here? last time i checked Nigeria was actually number 30 in the world in terms of GDP If we are now number 39 what is the basis for celebration? i think the government owe us better explanations.See link-"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_(PPP)" |
The CBN under Sanusi seem to have lost its focus long time ago, and it will be a surprise if the CBN does not go on with its unpopular and ill-advised N5,000 note or coinage of our lower Nairas. All these "CURE" stuff,i dare say is just to bring down the cost of printing notes (which the cashless policy if effectively implemented can and will achieve)without considering its effect on the economy, which is what the populace are revolting against. 1.Do we need to import delegation fom the IMF/World bank to impress it upon our "all knowing" CBN govenor to know that Nigerians dont carry coins once N20 becomes coins it will go out of use almost immediately and N50 will be the new unit of our currency just like the N5 of today.what new strategies has it come up with he reverse this trend?2.What now happens to the cashless economy programme? whys so much incostitencies? why are the CBN Policies always not thoroughly thought-out, why sink N520 Billion into the taken-over banks only to for them to turn out worse-off? and now "AMCON" with "BRIDGE" banks? 3.Why not sponsor bills to the national assembly to discourage dollarisation (mostly through corruption) of our economy and arrest it, than printing higher bills to cater for those dollarising the economy. 4.How does the new N5000 bill help the already battered value of the naira apart from creating room for another CBN govenor to come tommorow and say we need to again print N50,000 bill with all manner of excuses. 5.Lastly why is the CBN turning truth on its head by saying the coinage of our currency will not lead to inflation when every shoemaker, market woman, labourer and even conductors knows otherwise? the truth is that it WILL result in inflation at the lower rung of the economy.Of course the percentage of economic power held by the lower rung is inssufficient to lead to an aggregrate increase in the inflation level, when about 5% of our citizens hold more than 85% of its wealth. The poor wll only get poorer at the end of the day.thats the greater worry! |
The OP is very much on point.I'd advise any lady serious about a lasting relationship to take them to heart, ignore some of the comments here, stay around these rules until you are sure on your partner's comfortabability with them. The choice is yours at the end of the day.General rules are meant as guide, there are always exceptions as with any other human endeavour. |

sir-p2007:You are on point. This administration realy needs to be creative and serious with the issue of cost reduction. This country is not as bouyant as we pretend it is-pervasive poverty and serious infrastructural and social shortfalls everywhere, yet our president and finance minister are pretending and acting otherwise. Nothing stops the presidency from getting executive cars on lease from hire servicing comapanies or like you rightly suggested get two luxurious vip buses to convey these first ladies around. Why buy new cars everytime we are hosting visitors (for a four day conference)? Where are all the cars bought for previous conferences? GEJ should give a serious thought to cost control and reduction!! |
@papabrowne.I formally declare Edo State the least tribal state in Nigeria. Binis defied tribalism and voted against their tribes man. It is a testament to the sophistication of the Edo people. And I think the rest of the country can learn from this! Benzora: For the undiscerning this may mean nothing but to those still with some sense of rationality, this is absolutely mind blowing. These are Bini Chiefs who have jettisoned tribal sentiments by not giving their support and vote to their kinsman but to an outsider all on the alter of good governance. I dove my heart for the Bini Kingdom! If only some tribes in this Country can be these magnanimous, there would be no BH! Lesson!I am very delighted with your posts.God bless you guys. |
agabaI23: How can juxtapose this recent claim with his earlier statement that PDP is Boko Haram and Boko Haram is PDP? is Buhari now a member of PDP?My thoughts exactly. So much for security advisory! |
Suddenly the almajiri of 20-30years ago is now an adult with no feasible means of survival, and the worth of human life to him is just 7k?hmmm... this explains a lot. When will the northern elite and the nigerian nation truly and genuingly tend to this festering wound called almajiri culture? they are busy relocating their families from left to right? who says these brainwashed and hungry nigerians will not collect 75k and double-cross their mallams and return the bombs to whence they were received.these boko guys are just exploiting the pervasive hunger and desolation up north.why are the boko leaders not involved in these suicide bombings, or dont they like the bliss in paradise too? jobless youth+fanatical mallams+deperate politicians+failed elites=boko haram (+ill prepared security apparatus+confused presidency)=Unabated loss of human lives. |
Vikin: Let me teach you how to ask a guy out indirectly. |
@sky blue While it is appreciated that you are rightly bringing us back to the oil subsidy report, i suggest you take time the go through some of the earier posts on this topic, where a lot of time were being spent on casting aspersions at the person of Mr. Otedola as if someone is trying to divert our attention. The issue is that we have a very very corrupt HOR (every other public servant knows this, especially if you ever have a budget to be passed by them) yet we have an opportunity to ask them questions and probably pressure them to sit up,we are rather busy discussing Otedola's business. Farouk is one of the highly respected rep in that house, if he could come to this lot, what fate lies ahead? The high importance of this subsidy report should have been put first before every other. Farook has goofed, yes,now the house had better thread cautiously and push for the report not die abruptly rather than it be an Otedola Vs HOR or rather who is a better thief issue.simple! |
maybel: Dont u read papers? Where were u when he (Otedola) said d security gave him marked dollars to catch Farcrook. The money offered as bribe was not Otedola's. If eventually d money cud not be recovered it's d SSS problem,Otedola has nothing to lose. I'm not Otedola's advocate but if i were in his shoes i wud rather participate in dis kind of sting operatn knowing full well dat i hav nothing to lose than allowing one crook to intimidate and extort money from me. Pennywise: What an irresponsible and shameless House of Assembly (yes of thieves). This present crop of lawmakers have further reduced in reckoning the profile of all things Nigerian to the outside world. I am surprised they still give press conferences when they ought to be in hiding as a group. These are the best posts av read on nairaland im many days. What is realy wrong with our youths and thinking system for goodness sake.We cry and complain to high heavens of the attrocities and corruption of our political leaders and when an Otedola sticks out his neck and business to confront the status quo, we turn round and descend on him. what are we intending to achieve with this, how on earth do we expect other business men who are being extorted to come out tommorow and blow the lid on these evil rampaging our nation. If you have a problem with Otedola and his Business/Political operandi why dont you wait for another case to do this.To Imagine Mallam Zakari Moh'd publicly stating that "As far as we are concerned in this country, for every personality that claims to be straightforward, we know his or her background, antecedents, way of life and means of doing business".This is the same reason they go about extorting every other businessman because they believe nobody is straightforwad? haba coming from an honourable its both shameful and despicable. Now they want to "deal with Otedola" for heavens sake lets not take our eyes off the ball. These honourables dont mean well for you and I.Otedola might just be a tool in helping to expose them, nobody said he was a saint. |
eGuerrilla: With all due respect, @Olu_Bendel, nobody is saying Farouk should not be held to account for his 'sins'.Am glad we agree that Farouk should be made to face the law and prove himself, and if guilty made serious example of. Its just so hurting that every othertime these folks cant see beyond their pockets and put the nation first for once.elumelu, hembe now farouk, one after the other, into the same trap over and over again. The fact is, the executive have before now have dumped the subsidy probe report in a coffin with its lukewarm approach, this farouk saga is only helping to drive in the nails hard into the coffin. It would certainly help if an adhoc team of the legislature/executive can be put up to review the report and the legislature look hard beyond farouk matter and insist on full implementation; 1.7 trillion fraud can not be looked away by sins of a single individual. There we agree again! We hope the legislature will put their foot down and insist of full implementation |
omodapson: I have gone through most of the comments made and I can say most of them are laden with sentiment. I can only shake my head at how some of us reason. There is a thief to catch, he was caught red handed and we are saying the thief was not caught in the proper way? How else would you catch a thief that insisted on stealing from you when he knew you had nothing he was looking for?Totally agree. This is scary road for NLders, a lot of pple here are thinking more with their emotions than with the intellect, a thief is caught red handed, and he has not been given enough time to prove himself( he needs a lot of it), and some pple are here arguing that due process was not followed in catching the thief? if it was your hard earned money/property stolen and recovered, will you return it to the police because it was gotten by 'entrapment'. please lets put sentiments aside and treat the case on the face of the matter. Our interest should be how to safeguard the petroleum sector, and improve transparancy therein. If Mr. Farouk is culpable let him face the music!our security agencies are already into the matter.calling each other names or playing the ethnic card is dancing to the tunes of the same pple stealing us blindly. We must give all our support to exposure of corruption, this is the way to go, let them battle out the technicalities! |
For Mr. farouk and other legislathieves who believe they are the too smart, this is certainly another learning point. Next time if you much chase bribe so greedily? this guide might be helpful 1.Always make sure the speaker is carried along and gets his due share 2.Make sure the person is not highly connected with the executive 3.Ensure the person has no direct or remote contact with baba OBJ 4.Always go with your face mask! 5.never utter a word no matter how pressed you are! 6.if possible stay in the car and send Mr.Emenalo your secretary! 7.Go with your own camera and recorder as back up in case they want to mess you up! Bunch of criminals who will never miss an opportunity to amass no matter their level of comfort!!! Keep denying. We don siddon dey look. |
once N20 becomes coins it will go out of use almost immediately and N50 will be the new unit of our currency just like the N5 of today.what new strategies has it come up with he reverse this trend?
